The vibe of the hive is great. Emily and I decided to get out of town for a day and picked Galesburg to roam around and explore. I let her pick the coffeehouse we visit and that's how we ended up at The Beanhive. Upon walking in, I knew we picked a great place. The Beanhive has the vibes of grandma's house. Everything feels vintage, antiqued, and from the 1970s. The decor is definitely eclectic and feels like they raided said grandmas' house for all their furniture. All of that is a positive in my book. Emily ordered a caramel latte and I got my usual iced americano and we split a warmed up cinnamon roll for breakfast. It didn't take too long for our drinks and roll to come out. The americano was as dark as the night sky and that was a good sign. I took a sip and was instantly in heaven. This was, without a doubt, the best americano I've ever had. Emily was smitten with her caramel latte and we both loved the cinnamon roll. We stuck around a bit longer than intended because we both just loved the vibe of the place and the baristas make us feel really welcomed. If I lived in Galesburg, this would be the only coffeehouse I would visit. Sidenote: They do have stickers, pins, shirts and other merch if you are looking for that kind of stuff. We both got some stickers and pins while Emily also grabbed a nice looking long sleeve tye-dye shirt. Their merch has a Jimi Hendrix vibe to it, which fits with the vibe of the place. read more

Great place for coffee, pastries, and breakfast in a cute town! On my way through on tour to Iowa, this was the spot we chose to have a meal break and coffee, and all of it was great! The cold brew was very good and had a nice smooth flavor. The blueberry muffin I had as well was so tasty - the staff were so nice to ask if I wanted it warmed up and that made all the difference. I also chose a the special quiche that had olives and artichokes, and YUM! I loved the green salad on the side, very fresh with a tasty dressing. Cozy spot that honestly I could spend a few hours just reading or having some focus time, I really loved it here! read more

They now take Debit and Credit by the way... This place is the best. My husband's family lives near by and finding a real cup of coffee (Chicago spoils you) was a huge issue when we came. But then we found this slice of heaven which serves Intelligentsia Coffee and makes it correctly. Every time. The atmosphere is great and if you sit for four hours while you study no one fusses. Add in free WiFi and its my home away from home away from home this summer. They make a mean smoothie too! read more

This is a cute little coffee shop. We just went in for a quick stop and ordered a hot chai latte and an iced coffee with hazelnut. The iced coffee was very good! This place is the bees knees ;) It's a woman owned and operated business that is authentic, homemade, and relevant. I don't live in Galesburg anymore but when I did this place held so many fond memories revolving around craft coffee before people, especially in small towns, knew what craft coffee was (is). So if you're a local or visiting, do all of us a favor from far and wide by supporting your neighbor (quite literally--instead of a corporation or chain that doesn't want to know you) and discover something meaningful and delicious, cuz this place really is a hidden in plain sight gem :) read more

Great little place with a wonderful atmosphere. The coffee is pretty good, too. I love the decor, and the music selection is so relaxing and unobtrusive. All of this makes the Beanhive conducive to pleasant conversation or getting work done. The only "fly in the ointment" during my visit was a couple of flies buzzing around, which bothers some people. But to be fair, it was a very cold day after a warm spell and I assume that means insects trying to get inside. Probably something any eating place has to deal with on days like this. read more

This place was pretty chill when I parked there for a couple of hours on a Wednesday afternoon. I ordered a decaf latte with skim milk. Foam was creamy and the drink delicious. There are about 10 tables along the walls with a good number of electrical outlets available. Bathrooms were spartan but were single, so there was privacy. Internet was speedy. Password was available from the staff. All in all, a good place to work. read more

We stopped at this great little cafe on the way to WIU and so glad we did. It's a little gem!! Has a nice roomy seating area, lots of little tables (where I saw old and young alike on their gadgets). Must have the hot chocolate with whip cream...deeee-licious! Coffee is great too :) Had an awesome banana chocolate chip muffin which tasted like it came straight out of the oven. The owner was super sweet too! Will definitely be back here on our future jaunts :) read more

A nice cozy atmosphere with beautiful artwork gracing the walls, Kaldi's is a good neighborhood coffee house that is simplistic yet creative. If a quiet and peaceful area is what you are looking for, this is the place to kick back and relax while reading a great novel from the local library (located directly down the street) or the local paper. Kaldi's, now called the Beanhive, is a great little coffee shop. They have a good selection of drinks and some unusual options such as the "london fog". They are really open about making any sort of drink you can think of. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. It's a good place to bring your laptop and get some work done. The staff is very nice and accommodating. I recommend the iced chai as a summer drink and the london fog in the winter. read more

This is my favorite place in Galesburg. Small, homey, and perfect for meeting up with friends or curling up with a book. The staff are very friendly and the drinks are wonderful. As a student, this is one of my favorite places. Not only does it serve everything from tea and lattes to scones and sandwiches, but the vibe inside is unbeatable. It's got free wifi, comfy chairs, quirky decor. You feel as though you're hanging out, eating, drinking, and doing homework in Mary's living room. She's a wonderful and friendly presence. We just stopped in to get a coffee on our way to Omaha. It was worth the few extra minutes off the highway! The coffee was made with care, delicious and served graciously. The muffins were outrageously yummy, made from scratch and generously portioned. We had the raspberry made with fresh berries. Definitely will stop again! read more
