I've been a client of The Beauty Room since 2018, primarily for volume lash extensions. I only treat myself to them occasionally now and while I've generally had good experiences, my recent visit was disappointing. I noticed several lash extensions stuck to my eyelid after my appointment. I went back that same evening, and I appreciate them fitting me in. I was in a hurry and felt a bit awkward, so I didn't double-check their work before leaving. Today, my eye still felt irritated. I took a closer look and unfortunately, there were still lashes glued to my eyelid! I called the salon, and they kindly squeezed me in again. I appreciate their efforts, but honestly, I was just over it at that point. It felt like they didn't fully agree that I had lashes glued to my eyelid. I went in for a last minute lash lift because my usual one was booked out too far and I wanted it for a trip. It was quick and efficient but wasn't the result I was expecting. My lashes looked over curled or overprocessed and after a shower when they dry, some of my lashes go in more than one direction and look curly. I am a straight-haired woman. The lash tech also didn't give me any instructions for the after care. I was expecting a '"don't get them wet for 24 hours" or "you CAN get them wet" but was met with neither of those. I did wash them before the 24 hours in hopes of getting rid of the lift, but alas, it didn't affect it. Lash extensions are good here but I wouldn't recommend the lash lift. read more

I've been going to The Beauty Room for over 8 years now for my lashes. I see Kathy for my lash needs and she always does an AMAZING job. She is very gentle and always knows what I want. She is also very nice and friendly and I am always happy and satsified with her work. I've recommended her to several of my friends and they too feel the same and I would definitely recommend her to anyone. The place is clean and has numerous lounge chairs in a big room setting. It has a nice modern look with inspirational quotes on the walls and fancy chandeliers. The Beauty Room offers different lengths and curls to meet the needs of all clients whether it be a classic natural look to a full mega volume look. They also offers other services such as waxing and microblading. I see and hear many clients fall asleep during their sessions as it is very relaxing and with Kathy, I barely feel anything. I wanted to be treated with my first set of lashes for Mother's Day. I went in a few days earlier to get my eyebrows waxed and to ask them about eyelash extension services. First, their booking service is confusing because it does not give clear descriptions on each of the lash services. I have never done them before so I don't know what the different looks are supposed to be named. Went on their instagram and yet they don't label their pictures to have me figure out what I want. So when I went in I showed them a picture of what I wanted, if they could do it, and how much it would be. They quoted me $185. I went in as scheduled and I signed the papers. I know they are running a business but their waivers do not protect the customer. Basically said if I didn't like the lashes, I would still need to pay. If I get irritation and needed it removed, I would still need to pay for services... not the removal of needed. I showed him the picture again (didn't get his name, but blonde hair) he told me what to get. Again, I don't know about these services and what my eyes shape needs. So I said, I don't know, just I want it like the picture. The service was okay, but did ended up getting pinched and scraped a few times. When it was all done, i kept tearing up... fine, maybe I'm sensitive... But I knew that it wasn't what I wanted. I said I looked like a doll, then left. What was the point? I still had to pay. So I figure I would wear them till the fall out, then go somewhere else for what I wanted. But as I really look at them I see that they are not even, one eye looks like a cat eye and the other looks shorter. Some lashes are drooping. And it looks clumpy in some areas. Then 24 hours later I washed it for the first time and it stings! I know that it a warning sign as my eyes also feel tugging on the ends. So I get an appointment with someone else from a different business. They instantly see that there is a ridiculous amount of glue. Some areas are right on my lids. And he put lashes too close to my waterline. We agree to immediately take them off. What would I assume take less than 30 minutes to remove took an hour of work gently removing what would come off because again, too much glue. All in all, I feel like I was taken advantaged of, my eyes were put in danger. And I don't trust the business who allows someone to do this. read more

I wish I could give zero stars!! My daughter and i both booked separate appointments through their website. we each received an appointment for the same day, at the same time, with the same tech. i figured it was a standard response and we'll get whoever was available. we arrived at the mall early so just waited. i get a phone call that our appointments have to be cancelled because they will be busy, and the only appointment would be even later. why allow us to book online then if they are busy? shouldn't the appointment have been blocked off? so annoying, especially because we had to drive a ways to get here. and they required a credit card to hold the appointment!! i'd better not see a charge on my card! read more

I've been coming here for years and they changed the lash glue they use. When the glue dries it pokes and hurts the eyelids. The glue residue dries sharp and its painful. It's also very pungent smelling like generic crazy glue and burns the eyes as if they got it from Temu. The lashes are now very fake synthetic looking and heavier than their initial lashes they used to use. Less then a week it starts drooping, twisting, and turning. I called in super last minute and I was happy they were able to squeeze me in on a week day! I checked in and it was nice and quiet, my appointment wasn't for another 10 min, but I was taken in immediately once I checked in with the receptionist who was also the tech When we walked to the service chair, I realize they were actually pretty busy. It was just a little awkward because it was so quiet and no music was on (hence why I gave it a 4 star) Eventually they turned on the music once we were done. My Brow Tech was Hannah and she was nice. I loved that she took her time to do my brows, normally if I were to go somewhere else random, it would be super fast and done... Hannah took her time analyzing my brows, trim and cleaned it up the way I liked it. Overall, waxing experience was great! Not too aggressive, pain level was manageable. But, when I finally created an account on their website I was able to do all this so quickly & easily myself. I never remember my last appointment so when I log on, I am able to see all the dates of my previous appts. The reason why this is critical is because getting your refill is cheaper than paying for a whole new set of lashes. I read the reviews and decided to request Amy to update my brows. I also found out after the fact that a few of my friends recommend her and I'm happy with the results. My face feels better framed and balanced. The Beauty Room isn't cheap, but they're also experienced so I feel like it was a great investment. No more drawing in my brows and I feel like I can walk out of the house without makeup. How nice is it not to worry about those brows fading or dripping off on a hot day. I didn't know what to schedule. Basically I had old brows that were fading to orange and needed help. I wanted to blend the old and new and wanted hair lines filled in between my brows. - You can go in for microblading consultation for 15 mins before you book. Otherwise you don't need this and it is included in sessions. - Microblading 1st session $500 (to add hair lines) - Microshading Add on to Microblading $80 (Amy recommended to blend) This also included a touch-up session a few weeks later. I opted for Kamakana Ali'i Mall location. Once you walk past the reception desk and curtain, it felt surprisingly open. There are tons of stations and people relaxing during service. I had a private room with a chair to lay down. The numbing gel is so much better than back in the day and I could barely feel anything. It took the edge off for sure. I took home a little sleeve of ointment with easy instructions for a thin layer, to keep it protected and I could still shower. At night I kept saran wrap on top of it so I wouldn't scratch. But these ladies work super hard and I've had Oahn, Chi and Allison doing my lashes for years. Vibe is always right and I always look forward to seeing them because of familiarity and quality. 9/29/22 went in for classic lashes. They had me do ellipse classic instead. An additional $40. No problem. She finishes & I look in the mirror. I have gaps. So I brush the lashes, a bunch fall out. I asked her to add to fill the gaps. She does. I brush them out and a few more fall out and I assume that was probably the last few lashes that wasn't bonded well. Today is 10/2. 72hrs later exactly and my left eye has large gaps from all the lashes that have fell out. Called manager explained maybe I had an apprentice because the is minimal retention & it's barely 3 days. Manager argues with me & starts raising her voice. I explain, I'm a licensed esthetician. I know how it's supposed to properly be done. After 72hrs you shouldn't have lost this many lashes. She then says "YEAH BYEEEE!" And hangs up. Accommodation was great because they had opening on a weekend, during the holiday season but I guess that comes with a compromise: Quantity of customers that comes in OVER the quality of work they do. Business is business but stealing from people hard earned money for low quality of work is just wrong. I paid $200 for lashes that were glued on my eye lid skin and it was painful to close my eyes shut because lashes was glued so close to the hair root that it felt like my actual lashes was getting pulled off. I ended up removing them at home the second day because my eye lid was irritated from the glue and come to realize that the lash cluster they put on was so thick. I had lash extensions for several years and never did I have this kind of experience. Again quantity over quality of work is not there.. horrible experience. read more

My mom had booked an appointment for a brow wax and tint for 10 am today for my sister. She arrived on time and checked in with the front desk receptionist and was told that they were running behind schedule, which was fine. They waited to be taken back and instead of being taken back in the order that the appointments were scheduled, they took back the 10:30 appointment first and offered if my sister wanted to be seen at 12 instead. The beauty room offers eyebrow tattooing and shading, eyelash treatments including extensions and lifting, facials and waxing. My review is only for the extensions. I look forward to trying their other packages. I don't normally get extensions but find them very beneficial when I'm on vacation. It takes away from having to do eye makeup at all. I'm the type of girl that does yoga and hike with no make up on but needs my minimal eyebrows, eyeliner and gloss to the office and get totally glammed up for dinner and events ... lashes, eye shadow maybe some contouring.... Having the eyelash extensions simplified all of this and I just look on point for all occasions all the time. On my first visit here the owner Amy welcomes me from the register. She took the time to explain the different styles of eyelash extensions. I decided to go with Luscious Lashes: 3 light feathered lashes on one (Starting $160) My beauty technician is Kathy P. She walks me to her chair and offers a blanket, I am always cold so I appreciate this so much. Kathy discusses my eyelash options and I explain that I don't want them too dramatic. Together we decide to do cat eye (hairs start short and get longer towards the end) vs cute eye creates a round pop eye (hairs shorter at end and longer in the middle) I love them I have decided to keep them and have been back for the 2-3 week refill ($85) several times. Kathy tapes my eyes and the magic begins. The process takes 45-50 min. I have caught myself dozing off a few times in the large and comfy lazy boy seats. Kathy is a perfectionist with her art. First, the BAD..Oahn (pronounced 'Wan' per the receptionist) did not make this a pleaseant visit at all. Walked in and they took me right away. First time doing my lashes here and was pretty satisfied. The receptionist was very friendly and recommended what type of lashes would best fit the length of my natural ones. Mai was super sweet, checked if I was okay throughout and gentle. My lashes came out beautiful and I'm super happy with them! I also waxed my eyebrows. The wax was the right temperature and she was quick to rip it off, not painful. I noticed afterwards that it was super red and bumpy(for a few days) will definitely pass on the liquid that is wiped on brows after the waxing for next time. I love how easy it is to make appts and online and they have a lot of availability. I so lobe that they use super comfortable recliners. The quality of work really depends on who you to go there though. And weve never experienced great quality, just okay quality from one tech. My daughter had an okay lash lift and tint but mine wasn't properly completed so it kept processing after we left and I ended up having damaged eyelash hairs. I also had my eyebrows waxed and tinted here and they left good when I left (because of the tint) but within a couple days when the tint wore off I realized they were incredibly uneven and one was super thin. I had to spend a month using eyebrow serum to even them back out without having to resort to 90s brows. read more

I was trying to find my go-to lash parlor to get eyelash extensions and so far lately I haven't been so lucky yet. So one of my good friends recommended me here since its literally behind my house. I came early around 11:44am and it was during a slow time, I was immediately greeted by the receptionist. My eyelash appointment was at 12pm for eyelash removal (the last place didn't really do a good job lol) and 1pm for my extreme volume lash set. Since it was slow the receptionist said we can start both right away, woohoo nice! I was looking at the store's interior and it was really beautiful with the crystal chandeliers and comfy couches. I honestly felt like I was under dressed and too peasanty to be here haha. The person I chose to do my lashes was Oanh (pronounced as one) a really cute Vietnamese lady. I was a bit nervous since my eyes are small and I have mono eyelids which are very hard to pull of when it comes to eyelashes (maybe Im just ugly LMAO jk) but it must be nice to have double eyelids lol. So rating my overall experience with Oanh, Id say she made my experience so smooth and relaxing and made my lashes really dramatic like my personality (yass)! I came in and had a permanent eyeliner service on 12/23/21. According to the website the price for upper and lower lash enhancement is $300, the technician told me I have long eyelids and she needed to charge me $50 more. I paid for the service without complaint. Immediately following the Service I was happy with the outcome. The color was nice and black, it really accentuated my eyelashes. The problem lies with the results after healing. I took all precautions during the first 10 days of healing; not scratching, not rubbing, not getting my eyes wet, not wearing any makeup. After the eyelid scabs flaked off it seems all color I had came off with it. I came back to the salon January 3,2022 to show the technician my eyelids and the lack of color on them. She told me this is the natural healing process and that the color is still under my healing skin, I told her that I was unhappy with the service as I can not see anything but a faint gray line in the corner of my upper lashes. I can see some color on my lower lash line, but the color is light gray not black. She told me if I come back after a month of healing she will do it over again for an additional $100. I told her I did not want to pay an additional fee, in my opinion the service was not provided because how does a permanent tattoo disappear? I held off on writing this review because I was willing to wait longer to see if color did reappear after healing. We are now 22 days post procedure, I still have barely any color except for a light gray on my inner upper lid and light gray on my bottom lid. I'm attaching pictures throughout my healing process. When I thought of permanent eyeliner/lash liner I thought of a small BLACK line, my results leave a lot to be desired. First time going to The Beauty Room at KaMakana Alii, would not recommend for the following reasons; - Skin was more red than normal following eyebrow waxing. Wax felt really hot. I'm used to esthetician's putting wax in 9 sections (in between brows, half of bottom, other half of bottom, half of top, other half of top, and then same for second brow). Here, they do the whole bottom of brow at one time and same with the top. Hopefully that makes sense. - The next morning, I woke up with red bumps under my right eyebrow. - Service felt rushed and I could hear one of the sleeping workers snoring the entire time I was there. - Was not on a table with the esthetician sitting at head section. Instead, they have you sit on a lazy boy and walk back and forth for each brow while you're sitting upright. Every time I come in here, customer services is TERRIBLE! They'll have you sit and wait forever and not give you any updates on if your tech is almost ready for you, or what the hold up is. Even if you made an appointment prior! Meanwhile multiple techs are coming in an out, looking at the computer, sitting outside. I understand if they're on break or something, but at least tell the customer who's going to be helping them or that someone will be out shortly for them. Also, not sure how many receptionists they have gone through. But every time I go, it's a new girl. And I usually feel bad for them because most of the other workers are so rude and belittling to them. In front of customers too! Don't treat someone like crap in general, let alone in front of your customers. Super sad too that the business owner responds in such a rude manner when someone writes a review. I get it if it's a bad review, the owner would be mad. But your response reflects your business, professionalism, and class. Have a great day! read more

The Beauty Room is located in Ka Makana Alii mall, across from Applebee's. The salon is stylish and comfortable. The staff are friendly. The owner Amy is amazing. I lost most of my eyebrows to chemotherapy and was interested in getting microbladed eyebrows. Amy did an amazing job. It's one thing to trust the person doing it and another to have perfect naturally looking brows as an outcome. The room where Amy does her artistic work is comfortable. Perfect temperature - lighting- and music. I feel asleep waiting as the numbing medicine took affect. Amy drew in the outline - used tools to measure the start, arch, end of the brow. She also used a special app to make sure the drawing is symmetrical. I love my new brows and love even more that I was able to participate in the Pay It With a Smile Program. It's a program that allows those who lost their brows due to cancer and or alopecia. This is a lot of work and for Amy to give back to people in this manner is amazing. She only allowed me to Pay It With a Smile... she refused me to even tip her. I love her work, love her giving heart, and wish her many more prosperous years as she makes a difference in people's lives. read more
