Two reviews on here from 9 months ago are from bartenders at this place- but Airica's review is funny because she points out pool tables and friendly bartenders. She is the LEAST friendly bartender I've ever met, and if you're lucky enough to go there on her shift without getting yelled at by her, good luck getting a drink in under 15 minutes. She'll be too busy hogging one of the three pool tables instead of actually doing her job. I've walked in and then walked right back out when she's working there - on more than one occasion- because she doesn't put customers first. And for whatever reason, the owner worships this clown. There are far better places to go in the area that actually have hard alcohol and are worthy of spending $8 on a beer. read more

One Star - Would Give Zero if I Could This place is the definition of a dive bar, and not in the charming, gritty way. The owner was beyond rude -- we came in to have a good time, grabbed some drinks, and just wanted to play a friendly game of pool together. Instead, we got kicked out because we didn't want to compete against someone else? Seriously? I even asked to talk to the owner because she was there sitting at the bar and she refused to come talk to me, I just wanted to ask why I was being kicked out. That shows how unprofessional and insecure she is with her business. The attitude was uncalled for, the vibe was hostile, and the owner clearly doesn't know how to treat paying customers. Save your money and your night -- there are plenty of better spots nearby where you're actually welcome. I would never ever come here again. read more

Been coming here for a couple years. Its ok. After tonight I'll never be back. Sat night, bartender that just started at 6 pm ignored us and was more interested in playing pool and eating. Totally rude rainbow haired b*tch with bad tattoos even made a snide comment as we left after having empty beers for 10 minutes! Go to Surf Dogs. Really! Been coming here almost 20 years! Randomly stopped by for a Mickeys!!! Bartender seems annoyed to stop her conversation to get my order. She does.. goes into walk in get beer. walks out and throws the top in the trash!! (Mickey's lid has a riddle) Not really that big of deal at this point! i tell her that if that lid is on the top of the trash grab it!!! Absolute crap of a place. Owner kicked us out of the bar because we didn't want to play pool with unfair rules set by their regulars. Trash people trash bar only good things were the musicians and the bartender. As someone who runs a restaurant it's disgusting to see this kind of ownership. The owner couldn't even come and discuss with us why we were being sent out. Instead sat there and drank and had the poor bartender tell us they wanted us to leave. Even the bartender felt bad and wrong about it and sided with us. The owner better learn a thing about customer service or they will not last. I went on a Friday evening. This place is for local regulars, who just enjoys the regular company and is ok with what's available as is. Only drafts and no hard liquor. 3 tight spaced pool tables hitting one another. Small and crowded. First thing I was told by who looked like a regular at the bar was to buy a small hard liquor from next door. I didn't know what that meant until I saw what was available. After reading the bad reviews...I had to find out for myself. Came on a Tuesday night for pool league, and Kelly was an awesome beertender! Had no problems with the locals either as a darker person. Start by saying the people here are a blast, but they Upcharged all non-alcoholic beverages to $5. Pool tournament requires you buy 3 drinks. Have fun, but take care of your customers who don't want to drink 3 cans of soda for $15 and making money is the bars problem. Don't let them come if they're not contributing to the bar. Every bar I've been to, to stay and chill, buy a drink, why is this HB mentality getting to these bartenders who drink at work or just aren't handling themselves properly and are unable to communicate and perform the main duty of their job which is customer service. For what it is, place is not too terrible.. definitely a bit shady with fair amount of neck and face tattoos but small whatever tables are not as bad as first sight. Pretty crowded usually but good people watching. read more

Beehive is such a fun bar to bee at! (pun intended) So many different drinks to choose from on draft from IPAs and imported to domestics including coors banquet on draft which you don't see very often! Karaoke on Wednesday and Thursday nights, always a good time! If playing pool is one of your hobbies they have pool tournaments on Friday nights and Saturday daytime. If you enjoy games beehive has a dart board and also an assortment of board games, super fun with friends! They offer so many different sports channels to choose from so you'll never miss the game your looking for and your drinks will always be icy cold! read more

I remember walking past this bar en route to Marina High School thinking *high pitched voice* "one day I'm going to the Bee Hive!". This has been, and still is, my local bar. Not only is it walking distance, but the service is incredible. It is a beer and wine bar but they have rice based alcohol so you can still get a vodka soda, etc.. The bartender Kelly has always taken great care of me and my friends. She makes an amazing cactus cooler with the tools she has to work with. My husband and I used to like coming in, especially on Friday nights because we had great service with the short blonde bartender and all in all- it was good vibes. We'd come in other times as well and had fun. I don't know what has happened recently, but in the past few months, there's a noticeable difference. Sometimes it take forever to get a beer and the bar tender is MIA for awhile. And there's also been a lot of new girls working there that seem like they're having trouble keeping up. If you don't mind slower service, this place isn't too bad. Just miss how it used to be. read more

I only went a few times long ago for pool tournaments but I must say that everyone, EVERYONE who was there, from Owner to Bartendress to the Patrons, were very friendly and courteous and made me feel welcomed. The vibe was also good there and only reason I have not gone back, or more often, is because I live too far away to go regularly, but it would one of my favorite places to go play pool if I lived closer. Can a bar be all things to all people? No. However, I think The Bee Hive deserves four stars for trying. As previously chronicled by Dan H., this was the unofficial afterparty after his, Laura R.'s, and Michael P.'s End of Summer White Party UYE at Fuzion. A UUYE, if you will. We were expecting divey, and we got it. When we arrived, we saw a bunch of unsavory characters hanging out in front of the place. Yes, it was Dan, Laura, Mel M., et.al. Fortunately, the inside was pretty welcoming, with three pool tables, two dartboards, and the dangerous-looking Jenga game. Laura bought us a round of firewater? shots, and away we went. Wait, were those shots? I think they were more like specialty cocktails. Their drink list was on the wall and I should have taken a picture. We ordered craft IPA's at $6.25 apiece. Are those dive bar prices? Not where I come from, but, then, they weren't dive bar beers, either. PBR probably would have been more appropriate. Also, this was during an Angels game when they have 16 oz aluminum can specials (these specials are for all MLB and NBA games). I suggest always going with whatever drink special they have when you're there. This would definitely be a good place to watch sports, especially Angels and Chargers games. Check out previous reviews for details, but apparently they serve free food on occasion, e.g., Monday Night Football. It also looks like food trucks are sometimes around. The regulars were cool to us Guilty Remnants. However, we did outnumber them. I'm not sure how they would have reacted had there only been a few of us, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Rosie was very nice, too. Summary: The Bee Hive is a no-frills sports bar with pool, darts, Jenga, and character(s). Good and bad beers are on tap. Best bar in HB! The bartenders are super sweet, You'll get a drink fast, They have free pool some nights and pool tournaments every weekend. Always have all the games on and sometimes have foOd. They have killer happy hour specials during the day until 7 also. Oh and they have the best beer selection! read more

The bee hive is a great little bar. Lots of space inside. The bar tenders are all super nice. Pool tables are great, jukebox, darts and lots of parking. Depending on the night you go, the in-house pool tournaments can determine if you get to use the tables or not. It's a local hole in the wall bar. read more

Best bar ever!! I always have so much fun there, and it's not crazy crowded so you are not packed like sardines in there like most places. There's pool, large checkers, jenga, and much more. The bar tender on Saturday, went to the liquor store just to get diet tonic for me! She has long black hair. I didn't even know she went, and it was the sweetest thing ever! Really cool place to play pool. Very good prices . Tbh . bartenders are awful. Jamie held out money until we tipped her . Our bill was $50.00 flat . Then JAMIE decided to say that she was "waiting " on us"all night" while she was playing pool all night in the pool tournament that was being held there. I gave her $73.00??? My card was charged there even tho I told her not to run it even after I payed her cash to hole my tab. Which we tipped her and then took our money and got her a nice $23.00 tip. I would of been glad to give her a good tip and I don't feel like she should of reacted the way she did then just took our money ??? Ya last time I go there . I've been coming to this bar since I moved to HB, almost a year ago. It's my go-to, my "home bar" if you will. Most of the regulars are awesome, and the bartenders are all pretty great. I don't know what to say about the bad reviews this place has been getting recently, because I rarely have a bad experience (and if I do it's not due to the bartender). I'm there during a lot of Leti's shifts, because those are the nights I'm usually out. She's always been good to me, and one of the reasons I stick around. I've never had a problem getting served. I've never been shorted, ignored, or overcharged. I only give 4 stars for the fact that it's not a full bar. Otherwise it would be 5. I love the beehive, the bartenders, and one of the things people seem to complain about, is one of the things I love the most, the locals/regulars. That's what makes it so great! read more

So there is a show called the Leftovers, and there is a cult called the Guilty Remnant that are a (the?) main focus of the show. Apparently they always wear white. So after our recent End of Summer White Party UYE down the street at Fuzion, a swarm of us descended on the Bee Hive, yep, most of us dressed in white. One of the regulars was a bit freaked out at first, and thought they were being invaded by the Guilty Remnant. Lots of laughs, but as is usual I am clueless when it comes to TV shows. I will avoid calling it a dive as it is very well kempt, and clean as a bee hive should be. The bartender was very friendly, and even held a raffle for some Angels tickets, and I believe a drink on the house. Great idea! They have a very good sound system to better enjoy the juke box, and a couple of pool tables too. It's the kind of place that you would feel comfortable breaking out in your own impromptu karaoke show, complete with some stripper like dance moves. Yeah, some of our Guilty Remnant did a bit of that. But I don't think any of us felt guilty in the slightest. Just call us the Guiltless Remnant. read more
