We were surprised when Google Maps was showing our destination as the Madison library. I didn't know that a new library had been built, the old library now repurposed as a bar. When we got into the parking lot, we thought they were closed - not a car in sight. But I saw a tiny open sign and insisted that between that, and the hours on their website, they must be open. My friend and I insisted differently. She went in and, guess what? They really were open! When we walked in and saw a sign for happy hour. Bonus! We were set. We each bought a draft for a dollar off and purchased a few of the $5 apps. The garlic knots are noted in several reviews so that was a no brainer. We also ordered the beer cheese with pretzels and our friends ordered the spinach dip with tortilla chips. I can't tell you how many beers there were, let's just say plenty. The beer was icy cold, perfect for another 95 degree day. Yelp didn't disappoint, the garlic knots were soft, pull apart deliciousness. The accompanying pizza sauce was just ok. The beer cheese as good. The accompanying pile of soft pretzel bites would have been better without so much salt. I didn't try the spinach dip. Nobody else seemed very thrilled with it. It came with tortilla chips - I don't know what kind they were but even they didn't look good. Beer Hog is designed for fun. Pool tables, dart boards, a small arcade, indoor corn hole and an array of daily activities including Harry Potter trivia night, line dancing night and live music on the weekend. There was quite a bit of patio area which will be great once our inferno weather pattern breaks. There are a couple rooms available to rent for various size events. We spoke with one of the 3 owners. The three of them designed and built out the entire interior. The owner we spoke with told us how they built the bar and every table in the building. They did a great job identifying and executing the unusual repurposing of the old library. Now that school is restarting, patrons need to mindful of afternoon traffic. If you don't know Hughes Road, just know it's a zoo when all of the schools let out. We'll definitely be back. The garlic knots alone are enough to guarantee that. read more

We love the Beer Hog in Birmingham, so when we visited friends in Madison, they suggested we visit. This Beer Hog in Madson is in an old library building where as the Beer Hog in Birmingham is an old elementary school. The Beer Hog in Madison is really large with eight pool tables, two dart boards, a cornhole area, a stage for live music, and a separate arcade room. I thought it was a cool place, but I prefer how the Birmingham Beer Hog music area is in a separate room than the game room. Both do offer a great craft beer selection just like Birmingham. read more

It was our first time stopping by Beer Hog. Apparently this location previously was a library, so as you can imagine, it is a nice size. The bar has a variety of beers and they also have some wine. They have plenty of TVs and pool tables, so this is a great spot if you want to watch sports. They also have different events like trivia night and karaoke. Lastly, if you get hungry, they also have a pretty decent menu. Keep in mind, it is "bar" food, but no complaints. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and smoked wings and for it to be bar food, it was actually pretty good. It was served hot and we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious wings. I will say, I'm not sure if they are short staffed or it's just a 'normal' thing, but I didn't see any waitresses. Not sure what they do when they are extra busy, but keep in mind, you will have to go to the bar to order everything. We also noticed when we got there, there were quite a few tables that had not been cleaned and still had used cups and plates on them so we ended up having to clean our area by the pool tables. Nonetheless all in all, pretty decent sports bar. Will have to visit again and check out their themed-entertainment nights. read more

We hosted our high school reunion at The Beer Hog in Madison with about 75 people, and it could not have gone better! From start to finish, the team was amazing. A huge shoutout to Eric, who went above and beyond to help us plan and make sure everything ran smoothly. The bartenders were friendly, efficient, and kept everyone happy all night long. The large rental space was perfect for our group -- plenty of room to mingle, great atmosphere, and, of course, an awesome selection of beers on tap. Beerhog in Madison is a spacious, bright spot (formerly a library) with high ceilings and plenty of room to play. Most games are free or $1 -- foosball, darts, chess, Jenga, arcade, cornhole, and excellent pool tables. Over 60 beers on tap, cheap flights, and tasty, affordable pizza and wings. Order at the counter, get a table number, and play while you wait -- our food was ready before we finished our first game. We visited Thursday 5-8 pm, with karaoke starting at 7. We stopped by to try this new place out. The beer selection is amazing. They had 64 on tap. We tried some food while we were there too. The whole hog pizza was okay. They have several small pizza ovens and the toppings didn't seem to be cooked enough with them. If you're getting pizza, keep it simple. We also had the tear and share bread. It was pretty good. Overall we like the place. Plenty of room, games to play, very nice atmosphere. read more

Called before we went. Was told music started at 6. Got there at 6:45 thinking music would be started. No music and no band members in site. Order a drink and bartender pointed out a band member. He told me probably around 8 is when they would start. We inquired again with the employee and they said they paid them from 7-10. Cancel my order which was at my table paid for my drinks and left. Just terrible customer service from the phone call to inquire to what was actually received. Doubt if I ever go back. read more

Food was ok 3 out of 5 stars Had pizza. Crust is too thin and too crispy. Like a cracker! Coupled with the top was not cooked enough. Cheese had no caramelization! Had a few great beers on tap. First time trying out Beer Hog. First, I spent a lot of time at the old Library so it was cool to see some parts still the same (the bathrooms) and some parts completely unrecognizable. Great beer selection! The salmon dip was sold out, sad we didn't get to try that but we got the spinach & artichoke and it was pretty good. Also had a pizza but ordered the wrong one, the names were a little confusing but I guess that's on us. Pizza was great - especially the sauce. We were with another couple and their food took much longer for no apparent reason, it was just a salad and a wrap. Wednesday night is trivia, and we enjoyed it. We will definitely be back to try the pinballs and video games and other entertainment. The place is very large and all the servers were friendly and helpful. read more

Our family loves The Beer Hog! HUGE selection of ales and ciders. Very good food as well. There's plenty to do with several big screen TV's, pool tables, an arcade room, corn hole and putt putt. This will be a must stop for when our kids come home for a visit. read more

No servers have to go to the bar to get a drink or order food. It takes 20 minutes to get a beer. The bartenders don't know what liquors are on hand. One bartender has rotten teeth, like a meth addict. Not a family environment and the music was terrible. The spinach dip was cold and the crackers could chip your tooth. read more
