It was our first time stopping by Beer Hog. Apparently this location previously was a library, so as you can imagine, it is a nice size. The bar has a variety of beers and they also have some wine. They have plenty of TVs and pool tables, so this is a great spot if you want to watch sports. They also have different events like trivia night and karaoke. Lastly, if you get hungry, they also have a pretty decent menu. Keep in mind, it is "bar" food, but no complaints. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and smoked wings and for it to be bar food, it was actually pretty good. It was served hot and we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious wings. I will say, I'm not sure if they are short staffed or it's just a 'normal' thing, but I didn't see any waitresses. Not sure what they do when they are extra busy, but keep in mind, you will have to go to the bar to order everything. We also noticed when we got there, there were quite a few tables that had not been cleaned and still had used cups and plates on them so we ended up having to clean our area by the pool tables. Nonetheless all in all, pretty decent sports bar. Will have to visit again and check out their themed-entertainment nights.

Tried quesadillas wings and GarLic knots-- all good bites. 60 craft beers on tap ! Plus full bar .. you order at front counter and food is brought to you seating.. they allow you to try many 1 Oz tasting of any of the choices which makes this a fun beer / beverage experience. Pool tables, darts and cornhole available to play too. Great use of old Library building - the grounds could use a little TLc.

Beerhog in Madison is a spacious, bright spot (formerly a library) with high ceilings and plenty of room to play. Most games are free or $1 -- foosball, darts, chess, Jenga, arcade, cornhole, and excellent pool tables. Over 60 beers on tap, cheap flights, and tasty, affordable pizza and wings. Order at the counter, get a table number, and play while you wait -- our food was ready before we finished our first game. We visited Thursday 5-8 pm, with karaoke starting at 7. Fun, casual, and worth coming back!

We stopped by to try this new place out. The beer selection is amazing. They had 64 on tap. We tried some food while we were there too. The whole hog pizza was okay. They have several small pizza ovens and the toppings didn't seem to be cooked enough with them. If you're getting pizza, keep it simple. We also had the tear and share bread. It was pretty good. Overall we like the place. Plenty of room, games to play, very nice atmosphere.

They did a great job identifying and executing the unusual repurposing of the old library.

The restaurant sits just a stone's throw from the ballpark where the Rocket City Trash Pandas play, so the whole place already has a fun, lively atmosphere before you even sit down. Now given the name "Prohibition," I half expected someone to knock on the door and ask for a secret password like it was 1927. Back in those days, enjoying a drink required secrecy, dim lights, and maybe a jazz band playing in the corner. Today, things are a little easier... though for this non-drinker, my order was simple: water on the rocks, hold the lemon. I prefer my water about 100 proof for maximum flavor. My boss and coworker grabbed seats at the bar while we looked over the menu. We kicked things off with the Pork Belly Burnt Ends and the Pork Bao Buns. Let me tell you, those Pork Belly Burnt Ends were an absolute masterpiece. They came out crisp and seasoned just right with a little spicy kick. Served with raw carrots, homemade pickles, and lettuce wraps to bundle those little jewels together--downright tasty. If food had a Hall of Fame, these would already have a plaque on the wall. The Pork Bao Buns were good as well, but they simply couldn't match the grand slam the Pork Belly Burnt Ends delivered. For my main course, I ordered the Smoked Wangs with the Jala Mango seasoning and a side salad. The wings were delicious--cooked and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was solid. No bootlegging required. Prohibition definitely hit it out of the park today. Between the great food, the great service, and the fun atmosphere near the ballpark, this place is a must-stop for locals or anyone just passing through Madison. Our waitress tried pretty hard to convince us to order dessert, so I'm guessing their sweets are just as flavorful as everything else on the menu. The only problem I had today? I couldn't finish my meal. I was absolutely stuffed. If this had been the 1920s, the only crime committed here would've been leaving food on the plate. Great food. Great service. I'll gladly return--though next time I may need a little more room in the stomach.

However you can buy a "3 flight" wine tasting or a "6 flight" wine tasting from a specific list of white wines or red wines. We ordered the "6 flight" consisting of 3 whites and 3 reds to taste. We liked the ability to choose the wines from the list. We also ordered a caprese crostini tray to nibble on while we tasted the wines. Most of the wines were "OK" to "Good" in taste with a couple of wines that a bit too young for tasting. But it was my mistake for selecting them. All in, it was a fun way to spend the Erving. We will definitely be back to try The Stem and Stein once again. Thanks. Rob F

I even branched off for a cider which was delicious. The food was great. I tried the pretzels and the cheese dip was great with just a touch of spice. I was told the menu was new and tried the BBQ brisket Reuben and it was a great combo of BBQ and complimentary flavors for an overall satisfying sandwich... Always hard to find the combo of good beers (or at least a really good selection) and good food but this is it. I added this to my list of places when I'm visiting.... I'm usually in Huntsville but it's worth branching out to Madison AL
