Forget those cool photos of that bar. The bar is there. Just piled with boxes and other stock items. The store does have a large variety of beer. Prices are pretty high on some items. For a beer connoisseur this can be like a garage sale. Dig deep and there may be a possible purchase. Sad to see the bar kicked to the side like that. read more

They have a pretty good selection of beers to choose from surprisingly compared to some other beer stores. Some beers are from other countries and there are many that I never knew even existed. There's so many choices, but also so many that are a bit pricey. The selection of beers reminded me of Total Wine and More in New Jersey and it was nice to see that there was a place to go to that is local where I can taste different beers from other countries and experience what they drink over there. Other than the fact that the beer is expensive, the beers in the fridge are an extra price, which to me is outrageous. Like you are already paying an arm and a leg for the beer then to get charged extra, doesn't make any sense. read more

I'm really very impressed with the selection here. I'm not nearly as impressed with the price, but where else can you get such a huge selection of foreign beer? There's not just your usual Belgians and Germans either. I was happy to find Japanese, Russian and even some Lithuanian and Polish bottles to choose from. There are even some Quebec based brews you can find here (Du de Ciel sticks out) that I haven't found elsewhere in the Philly area. I'll be back just for the selection alone. You won't find anywhere with more inventory in the surrounding areas. I'll cringe when I see the high price but try to remind myself it's worth it. read more

This is one of those rare finds. I say that because I simply was going to grab a six pack and hit the liquor store for Christmas shopping. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a cashier, who was more than enthused. He showed me a quick layout, and showed me the fully stocked bar, sans wine. I'm talking single malts, whiskey, bourbon, vodka... all the favorites are here. Prices are on the higher end for PA six pack take out as well as the area, almost too high Selection rivals that of bensalem beer and soda. Beer is outdated and super overpriced. I went in today and saw multiple beers that were years old and not supposed to be aged or labeled as vintage. Very upsetting when you're paying a lot of money. *** check the date of the beer you are purchasing! read more

I met friends here for drinks and apps. Food and service were both great! Unfortunately, my car didn't start when it was time to go so I had to leave my vehicle. I called athe a beer Store the next morning from work to let them know that I would be returning that evening to try to get my car started and off their lot. They told me nor to worry. After work in the pouring rain I returned with a new battery in my key fob thinking this was the problem. It didn't work. The owner checked the key fob for me and came outside to see how he could help. A customer, Frank, was leaving when he saw us out in the rain trying to get inside the car. He immediately jumped in to offer support. He took my owners manual inside to look up a few things while the owner worked diligently to find a way to get inside. To make a long story short, these men spent almost 2 hours in the cold and rain helping me. They got the car started, watched the car while I ran home to pick up my neighbor/friend so that I could get both cars home. These men were nothing short of selfless and amazing! The prices at this store are way above any other beer store around. Very good selection but prices are over inflated. Bought Master of Pumpkin 4 pack. No price listed but $24.00 at register. I bought a Shock Top Belgian Ale 12 pack for $25 when everywhere else is sold for $16 or less. Rip off. Won't go there again.

I was not a fan of this place. The beer was overpriced and several beers I picked out of the fridge were expired. If you want to drink out any of the beers out of the fridge there is an $2.50 additional charge per beer-which is ridiculous. Not to mention I was not aware of the fee so I was shocked to see an extra $10+ fees on my tab. It's a nice place just be aware of the fees and keep an eye out on expired beers. read more

I totally agree with Kevin H's review. I gave 5 stars because relative to everywhere within 5 miles of Franklin Mills sucks. A "diamond in the Northeast Philly rough." There's about 3 rows worth of wine as well. They sell everything from ciders, fruity beer, weird named IPAs, and even more unique specialties. read more

Large craft selection. Bartenders are really nice. A little pricey but craft beer is never cheap. Only bad thing is when you ask for your check, there is no option to tip so I suggest bringing cash. But i love this place, its my go to beer store, and the liquor store is nextdoor! read more

I went in there with two of my friends to get some beer. My one friend who is an African American USMC vet went to the public bathroom in the back while we were making our selection. One of the attendants was hovering over me the whole time even though I told him I didn't need help. When my friend left the bathroom, that same attendant (an older Indian male) told him that he was trespassing. My friend had to explain to him that a group of people in a store does not require each of them to make a purchase for one to use the bathroom. I'm not sure if he was being discriminated against but I will not be back here ever. read more

This was my first and only experience with The Beer Store. I went in to purchase a gift card. Upon entering, there was no one at the register at the front of the store. I waited around for a little, walked up and down an aisle, and still, no one had come to the register. I then went to the bar area in the back, where no more than 8 people were seated around the bar. There was one bartender, with whom I made eye contact as I stood behind a bar stool. She was conversing with a couple about personal matters - this conversation continued, as I stood there, obviously waiting for initial service. The bartender, after making eye contact with me (seeing I was there, clearly), did not take a moment to step away from her personal conversation to see if I needed anything. After standing there, waiting around for more than a minute, I walked out. There was still no one at the front register area, nor did the bartender ever make any effort to serve me. I went to another craft beer store in the area instead, and received excellent and immediate customer service. I would not recommend The Beer Store to others, solely for the fact that I value customer service, and feel that this establishment is severely lacking in that department. read more

I was given a gift card for The Beer Store, and the person who gave it to me mentioned that there was a bar in the back. I have been to bottle stores where that means two beers on tap and a few folding chairs. This place was beyond anything I could have imagined. The bar (and it's a real bar) is huge and beautifully appointed. There are 30 revolving beers on tap, 2 wine selections on tap, plus a full bar. The beer selections were not typical, it was so nice to have an actual list that is not same old, same old. Most of the beers were also available in growlers. The bartender was very knowledgable and NICE, not like some beer snobs who talk down to you. They have a nice menu, pretty much just apps and sandwiches but hey, it's a beer store! I split the chicken fingers with my husband, 3 large for each of us. We got the plain but there were several options of rubs. They came with honey mustard, which I am not usually a fan of, but this stuff was really different. It looked more like duck sauce and had an unexpected kick to it that was very good. If you find yourself at Franklin Mills by all means give this place a try. It is a hidden gem, but I suspect once the word gets out it won't be hidden for long. read more
