Then there's the social nights mon-wed that is advertised till 7 but if you don't show up right at 5:30 and you decide to get there at 6-6:30 then you are left with scraps. I wouldn't advertise till 7 and just say starting at 5:30 till it's gone. That way people won't get upset great staff poorly and get snippy with those that were brought up in the wild. I'm not making this up 2 nights I witnessed people be rude to staff for not making enough and someone take multiple plates for later and one for now and guests getting smart with each other. I will say staff was great and always happy. At least the few I dealt with. Now the best part is they have designated dog areas to walk but don't offer bags so either the guests are slobs and leave the pets waste or it's because the bags aren't available either way they should have someone picking things up if guests aren't. This leads me to the lack of yard maintenance the grass was never cut leading to the search for the yard bombs. I stepped in twice unfortunately and then twisted my ankle due to a hidden hole from overgrown grass. Overall it was a 3.8 for me

They did bring us replacement comforters. The walls have drywall patches everywhere. The plumbing was leaking and falling out of the wall in some places. The towels were so thin and tiny. The toilets leaked. The smoke detector was hanging off the wall and obviously not working. The dust, dirt and grime were everywhere. The shower curtain in one of the 2 bedrooms we rented was so gross that we all chose to use the shower in the other bathroom. We had to let the water run for a while because it was brown and smelly. They shouldn't even be allowed to rent these out! One bedroom had no where to hang clothes and thw manager told us there was a closet in the living room are we could us. That closet did not have a light and had old furniture and other crap stocked up and no hanging rod. Unfortunately, everything I signed stated no refunds so we knew they would not give us our miney back. The day we checked in the lobby building didn't have electricity. They told my family member just stop back by tonight or in the morning. My family stopped by 3 times and sent the manager texts trying to meet up with her. After we returned from a funeral, the manager showed up yelling at my family member demanding payment. This was after she sent a text message with a photo of her credit card because the manager was not at the desk everytime we stopped by. She said we should have called to make arrangements to meet her. This was ludicrous! We also complained again about the gross accommodations and she said we should have spoke up earlier and she would have moved us. If they had something better why put us in that space to begin with? My family has lived in Columbia Lakes for over 50 years. We have used these cottages over the years but never will again. I have attached photos as proof!

After my last visit in January, 2026, the hotel modified my reservation which somehow led to me not getting points or nights on my account. I made my reservation through Egencia with my coworker, who stayed the same length of time as myself. I have spent hours trying to resolve the issue with no contact from the hotel general manager. I will be following up with Marriott one last time to notify them of the lack of resolution. After our last stay in January, my coworker got his points immediately, while I was told I made my reservation through the wrong system. The same "wrong system" as my coworker, yet he had no issues. After receiving no communication or path forward from the general manager and staying a full week at the hotel with no contact, I can no longer stay at this location. I have been staying at this location for close to two years and will no longer be booking travel to this hotel. Nor will my coworker.

They have a quaint breakfast area/bar/coffee bar in the lobby. This hotel really has all the amenities you'd need for a comfortable stay. I slept wonderfully in their bed, and the shower pressure was great. This isn't a fancy hotel, but everything here felt clean and new. Really a great option if you're ever in the Sugar Land area!

While finishing up the paperwork our therapist came to get us. No time to relax. No tour of the facilities, nor shown the changing room which also contained robes which we discovered way later. It was a cooler April morning and my spa room I was put in was cold. My therapist hands were cold as well. I asked right away if she could adjust the a/c and she said no. She did go get me another blanket. The message was very good but my feet were cold the whole time. I put my swim suit on and headed to the hot tub thinking this will be great. Hot tub was not even heated yet for the day - put was on. When I asked about it they said to go to the front desk. The lady scurried to turn it on. Also the Bathrooms needed toilet paper. There were No towels by the pool. No cushions on pool lounge chairs as shown in pictures. You would think when you first open up in the morning you would have everything ready and put out. A quick tour or instructions would be nice too. For the prices we paid the attention to detail so lacked. I asked where the showers where and was told none and that only certain services included a shower. So if you want to go to a really cool place and pay 5 star prices and the little details don't care to you, then this is your place. I'm so disappointed since I wanted to take a friend there when she came to visit. My take away is that their bread and butter are the overnight guests who sign up for the detox program. It's too bad since they could have a good amount of clientele who are just looking for a nice spa.

These were included and helped to busy up the day Detox program 1/5 The detox program they do is just not for me - it included a morning proprietary detox drink with vegan protein, tea, oil blended together. It was terrible and very difficult to get down. Lunch was a liquid as well and similar except with more green stuff in it - also tasted terrible and dinner was thankfully a delicious soup. The soup was a major highlight. I will absolutely be making some on my own at home as fall approaches. The reason I rate this so low is that for the cost of this retreat there should be an option for participants to have additional whole, organic raw fruits and vegetables as small meals instead of or alongside these drinks. Complete deprecation does not work for me and it's disappointing there isn't another option available to participants. The only way I enjoyed my time was by supplementing my eating with fruit and veg I brought in from a local grocery store. I shouldn't have to supplement a reatreat experience to enjoy it. Logistics 1/5 There was just an overall lack of logistical organization during the 5 days. As someone who has worked to do logistics for events I know this either makes or breaks an experience and in this case it broke it in a lot of ways. Everyone had to get their daily schedules from the front after our class and most days, despite this being told to us as what to do at check in, the front seemed surprised we all showed up (unprepared). Schedules were hand-written and on scrap paper and for me, despite email correspondence about my schedule pre arrival, incorrect. As a result I missed one of my services (they did provide a refund) but this was a huge gap in expectations v reality. The program also advertised buying additional oils to use in your daily drinks (cbd) but this wasn't in stock so again, a huge missed opportunity. COVID related - apparently in Montgomery county where the retreat is located masks are not required. There weren't a lot of people and a lot of opportunities to maintain 6 feet distance except in spa services (no one wore a mask). This was a bit alarming overall. I would have felt better if I'd have seen some kind of screening being done for everyone at check-in (temp checks at least) to give some sense of covid caution, but there was none of this. There was hand sanitizer in one shared common space but again, it just seems like more could have been done to give people a bit more piece of mind (temp checks since masks were not being worn). Overall, I got what I wanted and needed from the experience but only because I supplemented it with what I needed. Therefore I give it a 2.5/5. It was a great space to recharge and reconnect but manage your expectations around it being a "spa resort". If you've been to 4 or 5 star facilities where the service is impeccable this will fall short.

So I chose this place strategically because it's 45 mins outside of Cancun. I'm one for adventures…read moreso staying at an all-inclusive off the beaten trail made sense to me. However, I will say that if you're an active Fitbit user... you will get your steps in here! The resort is spread out so you'll do a lot of walking but if you're not up for it... just wait by any of shuttle signs and you will eat picked up by the passenger go-carts that drive around frequently. We were shuttled to our room and every building has a concierge during the day if you have questions on getting around or questions regarding your room. The rooms are a nice size and the view was amazing. The only set back is, if you're on the bottom floor then you may have some furry visitors as there are animals on the property. But no worries, don't bother them and they won't bother you...simple as that. Housekeeping cleans the rooms daily, this is a requirement and it says so on their website. There is a safe available in the room if you would like to lock away your valuables, but the housekeeping staff is nice and we were gifted with a new towel animal daily. They have nightly free shows and the sports bar (black&white bar) is 24 hours. The Festival restaurant is buffet style and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The resort has other cuisine specific restaurants but you will need to visit he lobby to make a reservation, same day is fine as long as the reservation is before 5 PM. For late night snackers (or if you're like us... if you need a burger after shots at the beach bar) then visit Don Ista (located behind the Festival) between 11p-1am for a burger or hot dog. If you're comfortable enough then you can grab a taxi and visit 5th avenue in Playa Del Carmen... it's about 15-20 mins away from the resort and cost us $30 USD. 5th Ave offers shopping, restaurants and Starbucks if you're really in need (lol). Overall, there are plenty of resorts available that are closer to Cancun. But I challenge visitors to explore the resorts in the direction of Playa del Carmen, including this one.

Located about 40 minutes from Cancun…read moreInternational airport and about 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen, this one of kind resort is not only immense in size, but It is all inclusive as well. After about a minute of driving up to the hotel lobby grand entrance, you are immediately greeted by the friendly staff that is eager to help you with your bags. The entrance in itself if spectacular with huge fountains and a great open rotunda type reception area. After our bags were taken, my boyfriend and I headed immediately for the nearest bar which was the sports bar. This bar is directly located to the right of the reception and this is also where the dinner and a show takes place every night. This is also one of the few areas in the hotel that you can get FREE WiFi without paying $5 bucks every hour. Now as for the rooms, they are a bit of hike away from the reception lobby, but they are so worth the walk. Extremely spacious and all single rooms include a California kind bed, FREE mini beer bar that is stocked with beer and soda (this is also replenished everyday) and a huge shower with a rain shower head. I also forgot to mention that this resort is one of the few in Mexico that is completely GREEN. This means that all of the lighting in the rooms can only be turned by putting your room key in a slot by the front door. The lights will shut off once you remove your key. These keys are extremely sensitive to sun and water so keep them in a dry area (we got locked out twice because the card got too hot.) One of the best features of this hotel is the pool area. Blue Bay has about 5 different pools that are all connected to one another. Lounge chairs are pretty tricky to get here because you have to wake up at the crack of ass in order to "reserve" your chair. So wake up early to avoid searching for a non exist ant chair around 11am-4pm. The pool area has has two bars on either end. One is a great round swing bar that actually has swings around it. This by far was my favorite bar just because of the chairs. There is also another bar behind the steakhouse on the beach that is for VI P's from 10am-5pm, but if you get lucky like we did you can sneak in if there is no watch guard. This bar has the top shelf liquor and the best bartender! Ask for Wilbert he will hook you up. The food was pretty good for an all inclusive resort. Blue Bay Esmeralda has 6 restaurants which include Mexican, Oriental, a Steakhouse, Italian and Seafood. In addition to these they have two buffets and the sports bar. The best one was hands down the Mexican restaurant. It had a great atmosphere and the food was delicious. The buffet for breakfast is great. They have everything from huevos rancheros cooked right in front of you to something as plain as yogurt. There is definitely something for every ones taste. Another amazing treat at this resort is the amazing staff. These workers work 12 hour shifts and still manage to keep a smile on their face. They are truly what makes this experience so wonderful. I recommend tipping at least $3 because to them that goes a long way. Unfortunately most of the hotel guests were not as gracious with their tip giving. If you have the extra cash, I recommend spending it in the spa. This spa is truly a dream. It is completely outdoors, and has pools, saunas and massage rooms. The massages are a bit pricey about $160 for the cheapest one hour massage to be exact, but again if you have the flow definitely come here and get a massage. If you only want to use the facilities it is $30 for all day. This resort is something out of a dream and I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're thinking about staying in the Riviera Maya definitely stay here you will not regret it.
