Great bar to go to with a group of friends or just to grab a drink alone. Staff is always nice and they have great prices. This place is nearby, it's kinda my go-to sports bar. Sure wish they had some food there, but oh well. It has decent drink specials and actually had Stella and Honker's Ale on tap. I did like this place. I've been here about 3 times. It's very clean and fast service. I do not like that they don't have food or better drinks like frozen ritas or mojitos. Husband and I were there Tuesday nite, we both liked the environment. Very casual, and close to home...drinks were great, but no food service in the premises, although a young gentleman came in selling homemade tamales, they were delicious....I'm not sure if he's a regular vendor there but when you see him with a tray full of those delicious tamales don't pass up....extra star for the tamales.... read more

I work with Thomas H. For Christ sake just turn the music down. I'm tired of hearing about the loud noise. You can't operate a successful business if all of your neighbors hate you. No one wants you to go away they just want you to be a good neighbor. They are going to keep calling the cops anytime you play music at an unreasonable level. Who wants that? Then you are going to have the local home owners association after you. Do you know what kind of people volunteer for their home owners association? People who don't take no for an answer. I had been wanting to check out this stand alone sports bar for a while. After that awful experience at that lame excuse for a "pub" at reef O'crappys I was a bit reluctant to try a new local bar. (Even though that crappy place is acutely a chain. WOOOOOOOOW. I guess there's no accounting for taste. Or lack there of.) But, back to The Bend and good times! First impressions of trash and cigarette butts that managed to miss the receptacle out front were quickly improved upon once inside. (the owner needs to lose the parking spot up front though. It comes off snobby. Personally I would give my beloved clients front row parking and gladly walk as far as I had to because I'd be happy my parking lot was full.) Greeted by a very friendly bartender, and a great balanced, quality atmosphere I took a seat at the bar. I'm pretty sociable and appreciated that Mike made a conscious effort to chat. Always a nice quality in a bartender. That, and the great happy hour will have me coming back..And in greater numbers! Quality lighting, beautiful marble topped bar and high tops. Roll up large garage doors bring the outside-in. If you are a smoker they have a wood deck and the tables have your favorite team logos on them. And yes, one third of the bar is facing outside so you can sit on a bar stool and have a smoke, at the bar! Like you used to be able to do at Kona. Uhm, what else..oh! The stairs outside lead to the horse shoe/washer grounds.it's really quite pleasant. And the bathroom was clean! No neon. Nice TVs, and not so many that you can't focus on one game. And not too few that you feel like you're missing the other game. Uh, nice pool table, and great juke box that doesn't take up half the room 'cause it's mounted! Awesome! Wish they had a kitchen, but I guess fast food would be cheaper...maybe not in the long run though. Not a big fan of this. There are much better bar options in the area. Drinks are weak and tasted watered down. Service is VERY slow even when they are not crowded. Don't go on Thursday nights. I thought my ears were going to bleed from how loud they blare the tone deaf drunkies singing salt and pepper on karaoke. Cops are always showing up at this place too. Kind of a rough crowd that hangs out here and can get rowdy. Not my kind of scene at all. This place is more of a public nuisance than a cool hang out. Go somewhere else. I will not be going back and I would not recommend this place to friends. Also they do not serve food, LAME! read more

They have managed to maintain low prices, an eclectic crowd and dim interior, updates like the addition of a three level deck in the back lend an upscale edge while remaining true to the spirit of an old-school dive. Nice chill spot not very many people go there on the weeknd sometimes they have a live dj ,but the dance floor is really small. Drink prices are alright for 2 beers (bottles) we spent 7 not including tip and they sell wine too. The majority of people that go there and 30's - 40'. They also have tvs for the games which is nice. Staff was nice they greet you at the door not may places do this other then that this place is good for a hangout spot. read more

I discovered this bar when travelling through San Antonio and now I go back every time....the bartenders are AWESOME and I went there for a Cowboys game a few weeks back and it was such a cool atmosphere...not overpowering and rowdy but excited and chilled all in one! Tons of drink options, beer and ciders etc etc make this a great bar to relax and enjoy a few, or a few more! read more

This is my surrogate backyard. There is a "family" there, if u are lacking, to belong to. The staff is awesome, as is the majority of the regular crowd. There are sports on all of the tv's as well as music...sometimes live. Karaoke is on Wednesday, and there is poker every other Saturday. This review was for a Monday night visit. It smelled like cigarettes when I walked in. The bartender Gaby was charging $3.25 for Miller Lite LN. A week earlier I had the Miller Lt Pint special, but the draft machine was not maintained. The beer tasted terrible and gave me a headache as I drank it. So this visit I planned on sticking to bottle beer. I sat at the bar. It was not too comfortable. It was dirty with an abandoned bag of chips next to me and chips crushed on the floor. There were no napkins in sight. Most of the women in the place looked like tomboys in their twenties. There was only one bartender named Gaby and she provided average service. I did not like the fact that she started a tab without asking me even though I had a twenty sitting on the bar top for her to ring my drinks up as I ordered them. During my visit I ordered three ML LN and two shots, supposedly on special that night. As I was about to leave I asked for the total. She gave me an inflated price of $24.25. I asked how much the shots were and she was reluctant to answer. She then mummbled five. So if the beer was $3.25 and the shots were $5, the real total was $19.75. Because she seemed like a nice girl, I did not want to embarass her as I uncovered her plot to steal. So I paid her the extra amount she was stealing from me (and the bar) and even tipped her extra as she must be so desperate to steal at work. The motivation of this review is to send a warning to customers to verify what the bartender is charging for drinks and as notice to the owner/manager they should keep a close eye on this Gaby and all their servers who may also be stealing. read more

I have never been to this bar. I actually live right behind it on Rainy Ave. Let me start out by saying I am 29 years old and like bars and music just like most young adults. You wouldnt know if from the bar, but about 20 houses are located directly behind this bar. They have loud music until 2am Thursday through Saturday EVERY week. There are about 10 houses directly behind this bar that suffer every night. The home owners in this neighborhood a sick of the music every night. Most of us are working professionals and some have young children that cant sleep at night. You can lay in bed every night and hear exactly which song they are playing Thursday - Saturday. It is extremely loud with drunken idiots screaming into a loud speaker. We have tried calling the police mulitple times but they dont care. The owners dont care either. The houses were built before the bar and I am not sure how the bar was able to open that close to a residential area. We are currently tring to sell our house because of this bar. Everyone that lives on my street wants them to just turn the music down to a reasonable volume on weeknights. Not to mention the damage done to our home values in our surrounding community. This is NOT right. I would not suport this bar. read more

This Thursday was my twenty-sixth birthday. I was told that "The Bend" would be a good venue to host things for me. As soon as I entered the bar I was abruptly asked for my ID without any greeting or even a friendly smile. The group I was with tried to go about ordering shots for all of us. After a HUGE delay and eyerolls from both bartenders we finally got our drinks. The pool table was broken. After my friends put quarters in the machine we were short two balls. We talked to Gaby, and we were told that we couldn't get refunded, and that there was nothing she could do about it. After two more rounds and an incredible amount of attitude from Gaby and from Flor we decided to go somewhere else. This bar ruined my birthday. The amount of attitude and the complete and utter lack of service at this bar were disappointing to say the least. I just wish I'd known in advance. Won't be back, and won't ever recommend this bar to anyone else. read more
