Super cute hole in the wall location that is easy to miss. We've heard about it several times, but never been until we were wandering around one night and decided to hike up some steps. When we got to the first landing area, we saw the sign and decided we had to go in and check it out. There is a bar when you first walk in then another bar to the left. We knew the security guard that was working and checking IDs so we were excited to say hi to him. The bar was super busy and all the booths were taken, but the bartenders took our order and by the time the drinks were made, two people were leaving and gave us their spots. We only went in for a nightcap after a dinner date so I'm unsure if they have food/ bar snacks or anything. We'd definitely go back if we're ever in the area. read more

This place was recommended by bartender at Camp 1604 and we checked it out. The bartenders are really fast and really good at their job and you do not wait for a drink for more than a couple of minutes if even less than that. The DJ the night we went on Saturday was playing hit and miss music and was kind of all over the place. I guess when he went to break or stepped away from the DJ equipment and it was an auto play it was playing some really good music and everybody around us was Vibin really hard. Then he came back and it went downhill again. Other than that, I would come back again just because the bartenders made it really good because they hustled! So good on them. Leaving a 1 star because last night apparently the manager (short, skinny with brown hair and white shirt) was yelling at the DJ while she was completely wasted. I overheard her saying something to him and thought it was really uncalled for because he made that place a total vibe! I love George's and it's our go to spot on the weekends for the best drinks and service but if the manager is gonna act like a bully to the DJ while she could barely stand, we will find another bar. Beware of what they charge you for and double check your receipt. I been here a few times before but never had such a terrible experience. The bartender Jacob charged me for two drinks I didn't order then proceeded to go back and forth with me, wouldn't accept that I never ordered these drinks. I was really excited to try this place for the first time with my boyfriend but the experience was honestly disappointing. The male bartender on saturday night in the orange UT shirt was rude from the moment we sat down. Short, dismissive, and acted like helping me find the drink menu was an inconvenience. It definitely killed the vibe, especially since I had heard great things and came in wanting to enjoy myself after a lovely dinner at piatti. First impressions matter, and unfortunately mine was not a good one. I hope the service improves because the spot itself seemed promising, but I won't be rushing back after this visit. It's refreshing and clean with a bite that makes you savor it rather than gulp it down. I also tried the Tequila Honeysuckle on this visit, and it was really divine, but a bit too honey-sweet for my palate. FYI There is an elevator next to Ruth's Chris if you're not feeling up to the stairs They were quite busy hosting a cigar event outside but the inside was hopping too. My date and I really wanted to sit in a rear booth but it was closed until later in the evening. But no worries there was ample seating up front and our order was taken quickly. I was expecting to pay over $30 for my cocktail and shot, and after tip it was still under $20. So although it is in a rich area, prices are not too bad. Staff was efficient and I got my carefully crafted drinks in minutes. I wish there were more room to dance since they have a dj, that's the only reason for the 4 stars! read more

so after walking in this evening, my girlfriend and I were warmly greeted by two gentleman cleaning the bar in the front, it was our first time and I was already happy to be there. unfortunately the happiness ended there... we approached the bar in the back and took our seats and was approached by a young guy in an orange longhorns polo who firmly asked for our ID's while cockily flicking napkins in front of us. I work in the poker industry so I didn't think much of it rather than him putting some flare into his craft. after he walked away my girlfriend and I had trouble finding the drink menus.. we had seen the happy hour menus, however it was 7:30pm so we weren't too sure as to what was exactly offered in the establishment. a few minutes later the bartender approached back up to us asking if we were ready to order, to which I asked if there was a drink menu available, without saying a word, he grabbed a drink menu that was buried under a stack of happy hour menus, and rudely placed them in front of the both of us without a word spoken and walked away. whether it was cockiness or arrogance in his job, I don't see that as a way to handle any type of situation. wasn't upset about it, just left and took my money to Rock and Rye at the Rim. read more

Fabulous speakeasy bar with a great Happy Hour. Monday and Tuesday it's all day. Our bartender, Jordan, was excellent with drink recommendations and made some delicious cocktails. Once inside it takes your eyes a few minutes to adjust. I was surprised at how spacious it was inside with a wraparound bar and plenty of booths. Loved the dark speakeasy vibes and cool AC pumping especially with the brutally hot temps lately. I definitely recommend trying the old fashioned here. My husband and I loved the RIP drink on the regular drink menu. We saved it for our last drink as it was a bit like dessert. If you like coffee this is a drink for you. Made with vodka, Liquor 43, and Mr Black Coffee Liqueur and a float of cream on top it's heaven in a glass. George's Keep is definitely a keeper and we will be back soon! read more

We were staying at the Eilan Hotel, a 2 minute walk from Georges. Even though there were many restaurants and bars nearby Georges was the only one that was open past 9pm on a Sunday?? When we first walked in we didn't know what to think at first but as the night went on we knew we had made a great decision. They had live music, the bar slowly became packed as time flew by and the cocktails (which were flowing like water) where delicious and craftfully made. The well vodka was Reyka which we remembered from traveling to Iceland several years. We were impressed by the clarity of the ice in the old fashioneds and the quality of the drinks offered. Getting handsy with the ice , pouring drinks below the bar, sloppy pours over the ice, and using the glass as an ice scoop kinda puts a stain on the craft cocktails. It's cool, it's chic, it's hip, it's trendy, it's dark, it's a cool place to be ...and then everyone starts rolling in around 10:30 and the wait for drinks gets downright terrible. It's one of those places that make artisanal cocktails that take forever to prepare. If you're into those specialty handcrafted drinks, then this the place for you. I'll admit, the bartenders get creative and have a good selection of craft drinks with plenty of flair. But IT TAKES A WHILE to get your drink later in the evening - SERIOUSLY. Not because the bartenders are slackers (they really bust their butts), but just because there are so many people and these drinks take a while to make. OK, here's the rest of the stuff that you need to know when you go (these aren't complaints, just things you should know). *There's two separate bar areas and they also have an outdoor patio. *Happy hour specials: Tuesday 3pm-12am Wednesday- Saturday 3pm - 8pm Sunday & Monday All Day *The Eilan is very difficult to navigate. The only help I can offer is that if you find a set of stairs, go UP the stairs to terrace level and wander around - you'll find George's Keep eventually. *Save your parking spot by using Google Maps. There are two parking lots that look identical, but they're separated by a building, so I spent a while in the wrong parking lot trying to find my car. *One wall has booth/table seating along it that can accomodate a little more than a dozen people as a group. *The rest of the place has regular sized booths that seat four, or standing room only. *No table service - order at the bar *No food items - plan on eating before you go or after you leave. *DJ goes on around 10pm and is not terribly loud. You can still carry on a conversation, even though we were seated right next to him and his speakers. *Five beers on tap, about a dozen bottle selections, and about 10 can selections. Most (but not all) are regional craft beers. It's a cool place to go to, and the ONLY reason I'm knocking them down to three stars is because of the wait for drinks when it gets late. Super solid bar option with a great patio area. Drinks were really good, prices were fair and the staff are awesome. It does tend to get crowded during the later evening, but if that's your jam then there aren't many downsides. Personally I'm a fan of scotch, which they provide your basics with some good options. Came in for the first time this past Saturday night after having this place on my "to try" list for a while. It's owned by the same people who created Blue Box and Frances Bogside and there's definitely an air of familiarity between the three. This is definitely a trendy place nestled in the heart of the Elian area. The place was crazy packed but somehow my friend and I managed to snag two seats at the bar in the back (there's two bar areas when you walk inside). The cocktail menu is packed full of specialty over the top craft cocktails. Being a bourbon girl I ordered the Mixed Berry Smash for my first round. There were four bartenders behind the bar but between the sheer amount of people there and the time it takes to concoct each artisan drink I agree with other reviewers the wait time for a drink can be REALLY LONG. Not because the bartenders were slacking at their job but just the sheer amount of drink orders in and the time it takes to make the craft cocktails seemed to lead to a stacked up drink order. With that being said the cocktail was delicious once it arrived-so much so I stuck with the Mixed Berry Smash and had two more before the night was over. Same story though-long wait time for each round of cocktails. If the inside gets too claustrophobic and loud for you they have an outdoor patio overlooking the Elian complex that's more chill and relaxed with couches and several tables to hang out at. I'll definitely be back because George's Keep was a chill place with tasty cocktails but maybe not so late on a Saturday night.
