BE AWARE !! I entered The Big House to watch my 12 yr old daughter play in a volleyball tournament. Prior to this, we were there for a tournament in Jan and it was a terrible experience. A one-star review had been written to warn others of what to be aware of. The owner and employee's of the Big House clearly were waiting for my ticket to scan in and see my name that was linked with the review because as soon as I scanned in and sat my purse and phone down by the court my daughter was about to play on, a security man approached my daughter and was saying something to her, so I went across the court to see what the problem was and why he was speaking to a 12 yr old and not an adult. I asked what was going on and he asked, "Are you Nikki Scott?" I replied yes and he said, "You need to come with me now". Being compliant and thinking my daughter was in trouble, I followed. As I followed through the large facility, another security officer approached me, along with the owner Gigi and a few employees. They took me into a dark room and locked the door that could only be unlocked by a camera what seems liked facial recognition, which means I couldn't get out if I tried. Noone knew where I was. Gigi proceeded to wave a phone in my face saying "did you write this review? Are you Nikki who wrote this review, this needs to come down". I was surrounded by 6 people, me being the only Caucasian (are they racist?). They were intimidating me and interrogating me to take this review down. I was trying to play cool but really I was terrified and felt violated and didn't know what to do. They separated me from my child, locked me in a room with none of my belongings & nowhere to be found. If my black husband was there they wouldn't have done this. I don't want anyone else to experience this, so please don't follow if a security guard comes up to you. They first of all shouldn't have violated me for a review that all other one star reviews say the same thing. Is it because I'm white, married to a black man? Is it because I am a female and was there alone? They could have taken me to the lobby, or outside, or set up a meeting if they really wanted to talk about a concern. read more

Definitely would not recommend this place. They conduct bag searches using the same gloves for every bag. They should either be changing gloves after each bag search or have the person whose bag they are searching open the bag and move items so they can look inside. I am autoimmune compromised and insisted that they change the gloves before looking in my bag. Who knows what germs are on their gloves from searching bags or who knows what they have touched in between looking in bags. Also ridiculous that you can't bring in healthy food such as apples, oranges or bananas. Didn't see anything like that in the cafe. read more

This place is great. It's called "The Big House" for a reason -- it is huge. As huge as the legendary founder pro baseball player Chet Lemon. It's centrally located close to Orlando but not in the crowded part of Central Florida. A great facility for youth sport tournaments, the staff knows how to run big events. This facility performs invasive searches of personal bags(males searching women's bags using dirty nitrile gloves, digging through undergarments and sanitary items). Disallows water bottles that aren't clear and disposable(won't allow the reusable plastic sports bottles or aluminum bottles). Management(Gigi Lemon) is extremely unprofessional with her email communication Oddly my wife was not allowed to bring in breath mints and the reason was for "health and safety"...strange response. Came here for an AAU tournament. You pay at the door outside to a woman of ZERO words, no exaggeration. Literally didn't say a single word both days. I believe there were bout 10 or 11 basketball courts that I saw.....ZERO bleachers. There was random "I'm sure supposed to be organized" folding chairs scattered around the courts but that's all. Parking is limited so if you want to park on concrete get there early, if not you'll end up in the "grass lot". There was some sort of food and drink spot right as you walk in, but I didn't check it out to be honest. The bathrooms are clean which is a plus, but the courts are the best/only thing that the big house has going for it in my opinion. Courts were some of the most maintained I've seen. They looked waxed and buffed to perfection!! So, for the player this place is top notch but the spectator and parent this place needs some work. read more

This is the worst place to host a a Volleyball event. The place holds a crazy amount of people that can be dangerous. too crowded and noise. If 0 stars were an option we would use it! Money grubbing scammers are in charge at this unethical and unorganized establishment. Once they take the fees for a tournament you better pray they don't cancel it, we have been promised a refund for tournament fees (they canceled) for over a year now. The tournaments we did participate in lacked organization and the owners are more concerned about getting more money from selling shirts and officiating games than making sure the event runs properly. We have been threatened by home town coaches and have seen brawls break out on the court where EMS and police had to be called to control and give medical attention to those injuries in the brawls. Save your money, save your time, save yourself and your kids from danger and STAY AWAY!!! It is such a shame when people like the Lemons exploit kids for money!! read more

Then they charge a 15% fee on top of the $15 ticket price, and they want your email and facial pictures for entry. I will never come back here for an event no matter what it's for. My first time here. Not a lot parking available. Thankfully the building across the street was offering parking for a fee (cash only). I was not prepared for that. No ATM in the building. A generous parent gifted me the parking fee so I didn't have to drive away looking for an ATM. No Amex accepted (Geeez) at counter. Thank goodness I had a different card. Inside, very little seating available and you are not allowed to bring your own chairs. No nets between courts. Balls constantly going into other games causing replays and games to stop. Some of us can not eat the garbage food they offer even if we wanted to eat it. We encourage sports and healthy eating but then limit their eating options during these type of events. This facility limits our options to what they are selling. At least offer healthy options for those who can not or wish not to eat the garbage snacks. read more

I just signed up for Living Lean Fitness club located inside The Big House. It's quite an incredible facility. I don't know if they have new management but they've been doing a lot of work inside and it looks fabulous. They're adding activities to the place and the gym is amazing. The Big House is a deluxe and comfortable facility. I was here this weekend and the courts are beautiful, the bathrooms are spacious and clean. The café has good food with healthy options. There are plenty of vending machines with water and sports drinks but I wish they took credit cards. The vending machines only accept cash and I don't carry dollar bills anymore. You can buy the drinks at the café and pay with a credit card but the lines get long around lunch time. read more

Unfortunately we are forced to go to this complex for our basketball tournaments, but prefer to go elsewhere. Their rules feel like they are one place for money making purposes only. Rules state you can only bring in a regular size disposable water bottle, reusable environmental friendly bottles are not allowed. They will search all bags and if you have one, you have to go back to your car and leave it there. So, if that is your only water for your child (since most likely it is) you are forced to purchase their water for $2 each. Some weekends we will be at the facility for hours and have to continue to buy more bottles and create more plastic waste which my family tries not to do. Same thing with food. No snacks of any kind are allowed inside. Therefore you are forced to only buy their food. Their menu isn't exactly appetizing and include fried foods, cookies, candy, sugary drinks, etc. If we want to have a granola bar from home, we are forced to leave the building and sit in our car to eat it. This isn't always convenient with back to back games or when you have multiple children playing. They check parents purses too, and if there's a snack in there that might have even been forgotten about, you are told to go back to the car to put it away. This adds to the stress of trying to get your child ready for their tournament. I understand having some regulations, but this place makes it so hard to just enjoy my child playing the sport that he loves. I have not been to any other facility that is this strict AND this expensive. $40 per weekend per person. This is $80 for a mom and dad to come watch their child play, not to mention siblings who have to tag along or grandparents who want to watch their grandchild. I feel taken advantage of every time we are scheduled to play here, and so are all of the other parents who are just trying to support their children in their athletic passions. One star is too many for this facility. I am not one to post reviews, but this place needs some major managerial help. Facility is great, some reviews complain about parking (they clearly don't go to too many tournaments because parking is the least of this places issues). There was one person to take the money...so a huge line, then another huge line to get the band put on your wrist...that process took 25 minutes! They don't allow you to bring chairs, so if you are lucky you get a metal fold up chair, a cheap plastic fold up chair or the floor, the food...oh you can't bring anything in...but they want you to stand in line for 2 people to help you on the most PITIFUL concession stand...more help is needed in this place when you have large tournaments...or food trucks or something if you aren't going to allow people to bring food in...I get they want to make money, but have more people there to help. AND THE NOISE...OMG the noise. It is the LOUDEST facility I have ever been too...please spray the main gym like the smaller gym on the side, FYI that helps with the noise. The big problem here is the issue with the balls from other courts...most/all other facilities have netting to split the courts so your game is not constantly being stopped for balls going into the court...this was such a pain this weekend, we stopped play so much it began to become a joke amongst parents and we started turning our back to the game to help field the amount of balls so the girls could play...very rarely do we ever have a "replay" of a point and this weekend there were too many to count...netting is a MUST! Not to mention, the amount of people getting clobbered in the head with balls...it was miserable and so unfair to the girls! And the ref's...oh dear lord! Not sure where the refs came from but they were TERRIBLE, and not just for our team but across the board that was all the talk amongst spectators...were these guys in training?? Awful. Our team/coaches have decided that will be the last visit there...thank god. We will NEVER complain about the Orange County Convention Center ever again! Great concept on what they are trying to do....but you need more people, hotel rooms, food chairs netting etc etc etc....AWFUL! read more

This is the worst venue we have ever played for basketball! Rude staff who yell at players for bringing in water because it might mess up their wood floor... REALLY but the water they sell is fine (by the way my daughters bottle did have a lid). Anything to squeeze you for money including charging kids as adults. This facility is a lawsuit waiting to happen. The officials jeopardize the safety of every child on the court. I witnessed an official laugh at a kid who was clearly hurt. This place does not respect the integrity of sports and encourages dirty play. Security is an absolute joke also. I went a step further and spoke to the director of the tournament and he acknowledged that the officials has put the kids safety in jeopardy but did nothing about it. The same tournament director acknowledged that the officials were not good and one was a trainee but still did nothing about it. To be clear this has nothing to do with a win or loss but when you risk the safety of children that is a real problem. Not only does it reflect negatively on the venue but also the entire community. Let's not mention the lack of cleanness of the facility. The bathrooms were sub par at best, trash cans were overflowing throughout the facility. This place is a waste of time and money. read more

This venue hosts basketball tournaments, but bet their team wins EVERY tournament! And if your team even comes close to beating their team the referees will see to it you don't! Down to calling fouls that don't happen. Today I witnessed the referee call a foul and literally cheer on the venues team for making the basket! The most absurd nonsense I have seen! We were at this venue for a volleyball tournament. It is a massive complex. The courts themselves were very nice. 1. Seating is minimal however around the court 2. There is only one bathroom location and it is very poorly ventilated. Constantly smelled like a porta potty 3. The food which is offered is pretty gross, limited vendors allowed to sell food (like 2) 4. The players are told to be here at 7- however the complex has the mass of people waiting to get in until 715, not a major wait but it is 15 cut out of the players practice of time. This occurred both days 5. There were only 2 windows open to take money to get in, you get a ticket to get in , then you have to stop at another table to get a wrist band. Not an efficient operation. 6. Players and parents constantly walking in and off the court, there needs to be more monitoring of this as not to interfere with other players playing games. read more

In a word...awful. Our team played in a tournament there this past weekend. Totally unorganized. They had multiple games going on at once and the kids would stop playing in the middle of the game due to multiple whistles being blown by the referee's officiating other games. While on that subject the officiating was terrible. Multiple obvious missed calls. The score keeper kept looking at his cellphone and continued to screw up the scores. The restrooms were disgusting.
