23 years ago, I purchased a very expensive Schwinn bicycle from a store in Red Bluff. After a few months, the front forks began to squeak and grind. I took it back to them, and they refused to service, repair or replace the bad parts and fix it. I was VERY disappointed after that with them, and looked for a new shop. That is when I discovered "The Bike Shop" I brought my bike to them, and the young man, (young then) said he would look at it and call me with an est. I did receive a call 2 days later, and the forks were completely repaired. Best of all, they did it for free, and stated that it was under warranty, and that the shop I purchased it from should have done the same. Ryan and his family team saved my vacation! I have a trip planned to visit my son in CO and riding their local trails is an important part of the plan. But my last ride ended with something strange happening with the rear wheel and it wasn't turning freely. On a friends suggestion, I went into the Bike Shop. He committed to TRY to get it fixed in time for my trip, but getting parts could be a problem to meet my timeline. I got a text saying it's ready to pick-up. I went in immediately and Ryan took a moment to explain what had happened, and he showed me the old parts he replaced. I was thinking about mountain biking on and off for a year and finally decided to make the investment and get started. Being completely new to the sport, I did some research online and tried to get a good idea of what I would need to be able to hit the trails properly, but there was just so much information out there that I was overwhelmed. Tracey was VERY patient with me. I was probably in the shop at least twice a week for over a month with question after question, indecision and more indecision. While RV'ing in the area last spring, I needed a bike cover. This was the first shop I checked. I was also in the market for a new bike in the near future, but downplayed that. Normally a tune-up is done shortly thereafter, but it was 6 months & 1500 pedaled miles until we were back in the area. The Bike Shop graciously did the delayed new bike tune-up. Since purchased a new helmet (wear them always; replace after a fall, as I did, that waylayed me for 3 weeks!) and assorted other cycling stuff. We are fairly new in town, and a mountain biker we know recommended this place for our daughter's first "big kid" bicycle. The staff was so friendly!!! Shortly after I had a slight problem with my front brake(caused by me pulling my own front wheel off) I took my bike in expecting to leave it and they fixed it within minutes. Took in a bike I hardly use for a slight tune up/repair on one of the shifters. Shifter was repaired (was told at cyclopedia in the past that it needed replacement), also got some tires and tubes put on. I could tell that the owner/mechanic put some time and effort in getting the bike into smooth operation. I'll keep that in mind when I need to buy another bike. The owners are super helpful, knowledgeable and go out of their way to help you. They are also a Trek dealer ...a great American made bike company. I recently took my 8 year old Trek carbon fiber bike in because the there appeared to be a couple cracks in the frame. The owner took pictures of it and contacted Trek and facilitated my getting an unbelievable credit toward a new Trek bike. This experience was like the old days when companies and businesses stood behind their products. The owner set my new bike up to the same adjustments and geometry as my old one. I didn't miss a beat when I got on it took my usual 30 mile ride. These guys are great. If you need a bike...buy a Trek, and buy it from The Bike Shop. read more

Not sure what's going on with all these reviews, but in my 4 years doing business with The Bike Shop I have been treated with nothing but respect and kindness. When I walked in there clueless and wanting to get in to cycling the owner and then his son spent over an hour talking to me about what would and wouldn't be a good fit for me. These people are not "salesmen". They are honest folks that want to get you on a bicycle that is appropriate for your needs, competence and budget. Their service after purchase is also fantastic. I had problems with a wonky crank on my first bike. Service was FAST, affordable and done right. My family has purchased a total of 4 mountain bikes from them and we couldn't be happier with our purchases and service. I have (obviously) recommended them to friends and family and will continue to do so. If you want to deal with "Bros" who mill about the counter, drinking Rockstar, ignoring you until the 10th time you ask for help and then keep trying to sell you the $2,600 MTB on the rack because it's the one they want. Then do not go to The Bike Shop. There are plenty of other places in town where you can get that. This is a great place to get parts and fix up your bike. I have been going here for the past 2 years slowly fixing up my bike that I've had since college. They always have the parts I need. One time, after buying a new wheel and being unable to make it fit, the mechanic adjusted my front brake ( which was the problem) free of charge. Great shop! read more

I have been going to the Bike Shop for eight years. In that time I have purchased three bikes and a fourth is just around the corner. I visited the other shops in town before my first purchase and no offense, but something was missing from all of them. There is something about receiving attention from a family business that can't be replicated otherwise. There are many good brands of bikes on the market and many are sold in Redding. Ultimately you will need service and irregardless of the brand you buy this will become the most important thing. I'm not trying to say anything bad about the other shops in town, but you would be well served to go to this shop and meet these people to compare. On the surface they are just a nice family business, but in fact they are able to professionally fit you to your bike. W/O asking, I have been given a discount on service because of some issue with a bike that I have purchased from them just to do the 'right' thing by me. I left feeling guilty because of the deal I got and I didn't feel like I got special treatment. That sort of thing keeps me coming back.
