Yeeeaaah..... Don't come here when UVA has a big event and they (seem) understaffed. Unless, you're just here to get drunk. Was here the Saturday UVA had the celebration event for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship win. From beginning to end, the experience at the Biltmore that day was ...poor (to put it generously). There seemed only two people total working that day, as there was no server to take my friend and I to a table (had to grab one of the two waiters). I wouldn't have been surprised if they were doing double duty in the kitchen as well, because our server was in such a rush that more often than not, our food and drinks haphazardly fell/spilled out of their containers. Speaking of food, all might have been forgiven, if at least the food was alright. However, it had the double sin of not only coming late (the appetizer and meal were served at the same time), but cold. I'm guessing all the food was held back until the last item was ready as the cheese on the nachos had cooled solid, while another appetizer was the only thing still warm. Overall we felt sorry for our server as the person seemed harried, so I won't take this personally. But still, I have to give other fair warning to avoid this place when you see the warning signs.

The Biltmore was recommended to us by an alumni of UVA who attended in the 90's. The food is typical of a college bar- quick, tasty, and filing after a few too many. The restrooms could use some attention and the place smells of stale beer. It's a college dive through and through.

Might be great as a dive bar, but can't recommend it as a restaurant. Food is kind of gross outside of the thumbs and toes.

High end creative food with a not pretentious vibe. The miso maple salmon and the grilled pork chop…read morewith hominy and crimini shrooms are my fav mains. Multiple layers of flavor and all the right textures. Visually appealing on the plate as well. Solid cocktail list here. I'm a big fan that they go old school with a hot toddy. The applejack brandy added to that is a nice touch. Service is excellent here. Prices reasonable given the quality of the dishes. Will be back the next time I'm in town for sure. Walking up this place has great ambiance, perfect for a first date. The indoor seating was closed…read morebut the outdoor seating was great. The menu was quite promising. Ordered a cucumber chamomile gin and tonic, which left something to be desired. We started with the blackberry salad which on the menu said it also included avocado but there was none on the salad-despite this the salad was great. Our mains were good but not great. The biggest issue I found here was despite our server being very nice while ordering she NEVER checked in on us after anything arrived, never refilled waters either. So although she was nice the service was not good as there were times we wanted to order something else and one of the entrees didn't arrive as it was ordered but our server never checked in. All things considered I think I would only come here to grab a salad or appetizer.
