This hotel is not as good as it used to be. My husband, sister in law and I stayed here for two nights in October. We had last stayed here about ten years ago, and this was probably our third or fourth visit over the past 25 years. The hotel has a fantastic location allowing guests to walk to the wonderful restaurants and shops in downtown Bisbee. As usual, we booked the Captains Suite. This suite occupies an old street level storefront two doors down from the hotel's bar. The bar serves as the hotel checkin and lobby. (More than ten years ago there was at least one other street level suite, a cowboy-themed suite. More than 10 years ago we saw some upstairs hotel rooms with different fun decoration themes.) The Captains Suite is a spacious suite with a large common area, two bedrooms and one bath. It is decorated in a fun way with a mariners' theme. I like the ship's figurehead, the model boats, life preservers, fishing nets, paintings of ships, old nautical maps, etc. The suite's common area has a large table with 6 chairs, a sofa, end table, a small fridge, a TV cabinet, etc. My husband's and my bedroom had bedside tables with good reading lights on each side of the bed. The problem with both bedrooms was that the mattresses were worn out, too soft and close to uncomfortable. We enjoyed visiting the hotel's bar which is two doors away from the Captains Suite. We had drinks there and enjoyed the ambiance. A bartender told us that the hotel recently closed its kitchen and decided to expand its musical stage, which we saw under construction. The bartender said that you can order food while you are in the bar and someone will bring it from a restaurant across the street. We decided it would be easier to just go to the restaurant. I think the restaurant is Taqueria Outlaw. The hotel bartender told us that the husband and wife who own the hotel are very interested in music and each belong to two or more bands. Their interest in music is reflected in the fact that the bar provides music at night. There is a sign in the bar that music (probably live?) can play in the bar until 10:00 pm. Our two night stay in the Captains Suite took place on a Wednesday and Thursday in mid October. I did not enjoy listening to the music coming from the bar. It was not relaxing. Thankfully, the music ended promptly at 10:00 pm both nights, as advertised by a sign in the bar. However, I don't like listening to other people's music when I am trying to relax in a hotel room. I would have preferred that the music ended at 8:00 pm or maybe 9:00 pm. However, that is a business decision made by the hotel owners. On the past occasions we stayed at this hotel I don't recall a hearing music while in the Captains Suite, but maybe I just forgot. Another problem with our stay in the Captains Suite is that we could not get the TV to work. We forgot to tell management about the problem with the TV. I was not interested in watching TV, but my sister-in-law wanted to watch and was disappointed. The room was clean. When we requested more towels, we got them. Stayed Saturday night in the Lil Bit hippie room. I thought it was a good room, bed was comfy and I didn't really hear the band that much from that room. Bar was packed but got good service for drinks. I would go back again. FYI the free breakfast is a continental, which had muffins bagels , apples, oranges and coffee, juice. We ordered the breakfast and that was good. Parking was across the street, once it got later in the day there was more parking but packed earlier. read more

We stopped in to rest our legs and get a bite to eat. Our Bar Tender/Hotel Front Desk Attendant Carley was friendly, personable, and poured a generous scotch! The food was great (Fries Chicken Sandwich, Jalapeño Poppers, and Mozzarella Sticks), and perfectly satisfied our needs. Our conversation was great, and continued while she bounced around helping other patrons. We had a great experience, and will return the next time we are in town! read more

The Grand hotel is one of my favorite choices when I go to Bisbee, the music bands are great in the bar area although it's hit & miss at times, but overall the service is great and the staff are very friendly, and everyone knows that word of mouth goes a long way in a small town especially like Bisbee, AZ, and adjacent cities. The food is delicious I like the wings, burgers, and onion rings. There is an array of cocktails, beers, & mixed drinks to choose from there is something for everyone, and let's not forget the hotel rooms hence the name Grand hotel lol. If you have a chance pop in anytime, but the weekends is when all the action happens, and also check out the surrounding shops, it's only a few steps away til you find that one little treasure. read more

If you like a clean space: Don't stay here. Definitely not worth the $200/nt. I understand that businesses in historical towns like Bisbee are old and a lot of times rundown BUT THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR UNCLEANLINESS. From carpets to furniture, absolutely filthy. And if you can't wipe down dirty white walls, slap a coat of paint on them---it's a cheap fix. Window shades that don't pull down or just completely missing. And, if you are going to have make-shift stairs to the bathroom, make sure it is secure enough that it doesn't wake someone up in the middle of the night with all the squeaking. I think you get the picture. OH, and their website and the publication in the room boast complimentary hot breakfast--NOT TRUE. The only thing the Grand has going for it is the bar downstairs (and its employees) and its location in the middle of town. read more

Good location and friendly staff. Bed was comfortable. We realize the hotel is old, but that doesn't mean it should not be clean. We had the green room. I left my socks on when I showered as it not only wasn't clean but there was hair on the shower wall and floor. Floor around the toilet had not been cleaned and a thick layer of dust on the shelf/plant above the toilet. And as others have stated, the music made it hard to sleep. read more

We stayed for 2 nights right after Memorial Day so here's my honest assessment.... The Good: 1. The staff is super sweet and friendly. Actually, everyone we met in Bisbee was extremely nice. Such a nice change coming from Scottsdale. Mikey, who checked us in and is also the bartender is great! 2. Our room was large, a nice benefit to older hotels. We stayed in the Mi Casa et su casa room. It was very clean on arrival and the bed is very comfortable. 3. It was a good value, not too expensive. 4. Smoking patio overlooking Main Street for people watching. And no, the hotel does not smell like smoke. 5. The coffee maker right outside our room. Since we are extremely early risers and the coffee shop down the street (Bisbee Coffee Company, separate review) doesn't open til 6:30 am, it was really nice to be able to make our own cups of coffee or hot chocolate. Yes, I do know this is standard now in most hotels, but when you are staying at a property that is over 100 years old, who knows what you'll actually get. So, this was a nice touch. 6. The Saloon on the first level. It's super cool and there is live music every night. See the 'not so good list' further on for the 'not so good' part of this. 4. Going after the holiday meant we had almost the whole place to ourselves. Super quiet except at night (see below). Now for the 'Not so Good'. This is all based on our personal preferences. 1. The 'breakfast' included in our room rate is actually a continental breakfast. This would have been just fine had the kitchen put effort into it. It was a basket of not so great oranges and apples, a basket of dried out bagels (no cream cheese, butter or jam offered) and some coffee cake that was hard and probably set out day after day. Not fresh at all. 2. Although our room was plenty large enough and decorated thoughtfully, the bathroom and shower are super tiny. Again, older hotel means small bathroom. But the shower did get plenty hot so that's good. 3. Back to the saloon. And this was probably the biggest problem for us (not a problem for others perhaps). The live music, while good quality, goes past our bedtime and kept us up. They do provide ear plugs, which is a great touch, it's still loud. So, i think that covers it. For these reasons, I can only recommend it if you don't mind the things on the 'not so good' list. read more

This is a solid 3.5 stars (if we could give halves). I booked the Captains's Suite for our quick trip to Bisbee for our anniversary. We arrived close to 5, checked in at the Saloon, and the bartender walked us over to our room. We were a little surprised, the Captain's Suite (and at least one other room) were literally next door. If you were walking by you would think it was a cute storefront and wonder why it's not open. Upon walking in, we really had to laugh. It's a kitsch-y place- everything was ship-themed. The suite was huge- you have the entire place from the front to the back of the building. The main room when you walk in had 2 couches, a tv, and a large farmhouse table in the middle. It looked like original wood flooring in the main room and the first bedroom. The king-bed in the first room was hard to sit on (and a super thing mattress), so we opted for the second room- also so that we were further away from the storefront. We could hear everyone walking by, and while the band was playing, even though we were 2 doors down we could still hear pretty clearly. The second room also had a king-bed, a small table + chairs, an armoire, and a desk-like piece of furniture. This bed was more comfortable, but every time someone moved the bed creaked loudly and you'd wake the other person up. There's a long hall with old blue carpet and 3 short steps with ore's as handrails to the back where the large bathroom is. The bathroom had a standalone tub, a tiny shower, toilet, and sink. The mirror above the sink was a little too high... I'm 5'5 and I couldn't see my entire face to get ready. I'm so glad I didn't have to wash my hair- the water pressure in the shower was pretty bad. And the website says every room has Bath and Body Works products... definitely not the case. Overall- the theme was cute, we definitely had a good laugh about our accommodations. As hotel patrons, we got free breakfast in the Saloon in the morning- pretty standard breakfast. It was fun for the night- probably wouldn't do it a second time. A few additional notes... looking around the suite, you're definitely in a historic building. The ceiling was pretty creepy with lots of cracks, stains, etc. The carpet was pretty stained, and while the bed looked clean, there were places throughout (tub/shower/table) that didn't look that clean. Last... not sure where I stand on ghosts, but throughout the night I was definitely on edge and kept hearing noises. read more

The Bisbee Grand Hotel is a old hotel, and not worth the money. It has unique features and themed rooms. We had room #8, the Hunters Room. It sits right on top of the bar, it's noisy. The music was SO loud it was rattling the walls in our room. When I approached the "owner" of the hotel, (who was on the soundboard), to turn it down a bit, he told me no. Town ordinance hours are 10pm - 6am, it was 11:30pm as I write this. Ps, the music ended at 1 am So make sure if you do book this hotel you're ready to party all night because you won't sleep. The "owner" said he would refund all our money. That's $520, I'll keep you up to date if it happens. The hallway is lit so bright that I had to put a towel on the window to try and keep the light out. Breakfast was good, it's complimentary, but I would rather pay for lower room prices and pay $8 for the breakfast. There are other cool hotels in the area that surely are better. read more

This just wasn't my cup of tea. To be fair, I don't like kitschy, old timey stuff, themed rooms, and that is precisely what this hotel is. And it was the only place with a room available. That being said... We reserved the oriental suite because it was the largest room they had available. You check in and get your keys (actual keys) at the bar. Then walk next door, use one key to open the main door, make sure to lock that one behind you, walk up two flights of stairs, and then use the other key to unlock your room. This place is not secure by any means. To my surprise, the room is actually quite large. The decor is overwhelming and not in a good way. The focal point of the room is an Asian style carved canopy bed, which is actually quite beautiful. Unfortunately, the slightest movement made the bed creek and shake. If I simply turned over, it felt like the mattress was going to bottom out and the bed cave in on us. So I didn't sleep very well. The room is literally right above the bar and it is so LOUD until 11pm. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. The good thing is is that it totally shuts down at 11pm and then it's dead quiet. But don't expect to sleep before 11pm. They provide earplugs. There is a claw foot tub in the bathroom but it doesn't look inviting at all. It needs repair and they have a gross shower curtain you have to keep in it so it doesn't flood the downstairs. They give you two towels and two washcloths. That's all that is provided in this suite with no convenient way to get more. The worst of all...the room was not clean. I can deal with all the other stuff mentioned above, I can not deal with a room not being clean. Everything had an inch layer of dust. The bathroom sink was clogged. Just everything looked dirty and run down. But here's the thing, I know a lot of people come to visit this old haunted little mine town precisely for this kind of vibe. However, from an objective standpoint, it's not good. But on the other hand, it might be the best and only option you have (like we did). Bottom line: - keep your expectations low - there is no elevator - don't bring valuables - ask for extra towels when you check in - don't expect to sleep before 11pm read more

We booked two nights after Columbus Day. Our opinion is that things need to improve here. Check in the Saloon with no Desk and no receipt of stay. Handed keys and pointed up a few doors up to let ourselves in and told us go upstairs and turn left to our room. It was the Blue Dream room #2. We get it room is old and so called haunted lol. However, finding bath area was dirty! Baseboards had dust and dirt with pee or something on wall and edge. Ewwww! Shower had pink mold around bottom of shower edges. Shower head was only throwing water out of 1/2 of it. They need to spend money and replace it. Really a cheap fix. Ugh. Two plastic/wood type chairs to sit on within bedroom for no comfort here. How about a love seat instead. Ended up having to sit or lay on bed. Vanity in living/bedroom next to bed. No stopper in sink. No headboard on bed with just a frame. Roll out electric heater that brace was falling off when moved. Roach trap under sink. One mirror over sink vanity in the whole room. Decor leaves it to be desired. Need ice forget it. You have to go downstairs and next door to saloon for that. Not even an ice bucket only a water pitcher. Small refrigerator would be a luxury could be placed in closet. This room was not worth the price. Should have been a $19.99 a night room or less. BEWARE!!! read more

OMG! Having a nightmare of a time here. First, we had to go to the bar to check in which isn't really a problem but there was a band playing so loudly we couldn't hear a word the bartender, who checked us in, was saying. Found the room dirty. Didn't look like the rugs had been touched with a vacuum in a month. TV wasn't working properly so a guy from the bar (patron?) came over and was able to get one channel working. Unfortunately, it was a nonstop vacuum cleaner commercial that simply kept running. Then we had to ask for a blanket for our bed because there wasn't any blanket in the room. Found the shower knob broken and the shower with a steady drip. Couldn't use the shower because of the broken knob, so tried using the bathtub. Well, no drain plug! No drain plug for the bathroom sink either! Jury rigged the shower curtain around the shower head so we didn't have to hear the constant drip, drip, drip all night. Why didn't we ask for anyone to fix those problems? Well, it was a Sunday night, the guy who got one TV channel working indicated that the maintenance guy was off work and by the time I found all the problems in the bathroom my wife was ready for bed and didn't want to be disturbed. The people were very responsive when we did bring problems to there attention and maybe they would've offered us a different room due to all the bathroom problems. But, we were unpacked and it was getting late. And I wasn't in a good mood to bring up all the problems I found, in a bar with other people around. read more

We stayed in one of the smaller rooms (#4) and were miserable. There was band music late into the night and people on the outdoor patio right outside of our window. The bed was lumpy, and sagged in the middle. Hallway light poured in around the door and through the transom window so the room was not very dark during the night. The shower was a tight squeeze with a very low shower head. We were planning on a 2 night stay, but checked out a day early. We won't be going back. read more

Stayed twice there on our road trip in August. We liked Bisbee and the hotel so much we came back and stayed two nights. We stayed in the Hollywood western room downstairs. Jacuzzi tub and was really cool. Had a coffee pot, sugar and cream but no coffee to make. Bed was very comfortable. Homemade complete breakfast in the morning. Live music on Tuesday nights. Locals place to go. On the way back we stayed upstairs in the a Hacienda. Bed was also comfortable. The only thing negative was the size of the bathroom, lighting and stairs to get to it. Lighting in the showered was very dark even during the day. Other than that; service and staff were very good. Friendly employees. The balcony and back seating areas were a nice outdoor touch. You were able to see the rooms that were not in use too. Every room is a different theme. Very cool. read more

The Bisbee Grand is a quaint hotel in downtown Bisbee that would ordinarily rate higher than 3 stars. Regrettably I got off on the wrong foot with this place. Upon arriving, there was nowhere to park nearby and I had to park about 1/4 mile to the north. Then I had to wait forever in the bar for the bartender/desk clerk to check me in. After waiting an eternity, I finally got my key from him and brought my car closer when I saw a parking spot open across the street. I had to lug all of my own luggage up a steep flight of stairs to get to the rooms. This had put me into a grumpy mood. Happily, the room was lovely and certainly not cookie-cutter, which cheered me up. Moreover, the windows looked upon the hotel's charming patio, which was a nice place to sit and chat. Though I enjoyed my stay here, there were some things that dampened my enjoyment. I've mentioned the bad parking and check-in experiences already. The other issue is that the bathroom is extremely cramped and the shower is wedged into the tiniest corner thereof, making it almost unusable. As others have mentioned, the noise from the bar plays late into the night and will keep you up, the thin walls giving one no protection therefrom. Reserved the Old Western Suite which was supposed to have a "covered wagon bed". Got to the room and it had a regular bed with a cloth headboard. Asked the lady that checked us in and were told they just got rid of it. If you're paying for a specialty room that's what you expect. Asked 3 different times for the manager to call us and he never did. The room was absolutely filthy, the pictures tell the whole story from stains, rips, cobwebs, disgusting jacuzzi jets, etc. should have realized we were getting no sleep when we noticed 2 pairs of earplugs in the dresser for us . We love to find quirky, unique places to stay when we travel and were excited to stay here. The first issue was with the parking. They advertise free parking but neglected to say it isn't exclusively for the hotel so you may have to park quite a ways away and haul your luggage down the street. We knew it was an old historic hotel but we were so disappointed in the condition of our room. We were in #3 the hippie room and it was not good! It's advertised as having A/C but there isn't a unit in the room so you have no control of the temperature. There is a ceiling fan but there is only one wall switch so if you turn the light off, the fan goes off also. We had to climb on the bed to reach the pull chain to turn the light off. It was pretty obvious that no furniture had been moved to vacuum the carpet in quite some time as there was a lot of dust build up around the one table in the room and the carpet is very dated and very stained. The dirty shade on the window was broken on the bottom and would also only go down part way which was not ideal since the back patio that is shared with all guests is directly outside this window. The bathroom tile looked dirty and was cracked and broken with pieces missing in several areas. There was even a tile spacer stuck between two tiles. The shower stall is so small that my husband couldn't even lift his arms in it without pushing the curtain outside the bottom which caused water to saturate the mat and floor. The water also never really got hot. The window shade in the bathroom didn't work right either and faced the same shared patio. The wall outlet near the closet was not secured to the wall so we weren't sure if it was even safe to use. There also isn't a headboard, just a large, ripped curtain hanging behind the bed. The bed was pretty comfortable but the pillows were not. All in all it was not a very enjoyable stay and for what we were charged for the room, we expected better. read more

Most Bizarre Experience Ever!!!- Pass on this hotel!!! The culmination of a family reunion for 4 of us cousins-in our 70's was hard to believe. We arrived Fri night. On Sat am- without enough available seating, the 4 of us adjourned to Room #9. For about 2 hrs we laughed and revisited great memories. One cousin sat on the rug-up against the wall- AND was the only one who encountered some kind of bug/insect bites that caused a major raised rash/bites on her lower back within hours. Later, we found they do allow dogs in some of the rooms so-maybe it was fleas or -based on previous experiences over the years- bed bugs. Something attacked only her and we took pictures in case mgmt needed them to show the county health inspector. We waited to share problem until the next am in case the skin reaction dissipated- but it didn't and was getting worse! At first they seemed thankful how we privately shared re problem and even offered to comp one of our 2 rooms. 10 minutes later, as we were eating breakfast before we packed and checked out, the friendly staff person came up and apologized that we had to bus our own tables in order to get space. We told her it was no big thing and we all smiled. Then she turned on us -in her next breadth, she said she was directed by her manager to use these words- "She can't be bothered to meet with you -LEAVE NOW" At our obvious confusion including those of the other diners around us- she raised her voice responding to our understandable surprise- "YOU ALL HAVE TO LEAVE,- STOP EATING, GET UP, GET YOUR THINGS AND GET OUT! OR WE WILL CALL THE POLICE! We tried to calm her down and noted we had paid for two nights, were in the middle of finishing our meal and requested to speak with the manager. Our request was refused and we were told that it was a private business and we had no rights and to LEAVE IMMEDIATELY OR FACE POLICE AND ARREST! We said Great!- we would like to talk with the Police. No one deserves to be treated as we were. Perhaps because of our ages and gender the staff had the misnomer that we could easily be threatened, intimidated and/or treated with such disrespect. They picked the wrong group of seniors! Like many seniors today, all of us are seasoned global travelers- from the wall in China to the mines of Bisbee- the 4 of us have seen and experienced it all-but this was a topper for sure! We put up with the lack of available seating, lack of elevator with steep stairs, strange step up bathroom floors with really low toilets / 24" x24" showers, small cheap monitors masquerading as televisions, poor lighting, including- unexpectedly pairing up for bed space! Despite all that -for the 2 day stay, we were having a great time regardless- besides the hotel's "charm" Bisbee is a fun place to experience. The manager finally did show up as we were leaving. Rather than apologize for our experience including the dismal customer service she initiated; she moved right into denial and blame- on us! Not only did she deny any bug problems because she looked at the rug/wall and didn't see any evidence of bugs, She went further and accused my cousin of making it all up to get a free room! (Room #9 wasn't even her room) She also went on to throw her hardworking employee under the bus said they were understaffed that morning and the employee was stressed. She also said that she wasn't the one responsible for how we were treated.(Not sure since she was in the building why she didn't pitch in and help her employee out). We told her as manager, she owned it and that she totally mishandled the entire situation and was continuing to do so. We told her we deserved an apology-especially my cousin with the bites/rash. We encouraged her to get both Rm 1 and 9 checked for bugs. We also told her that based on how we were treated and the potential bed bug issue that we would be following up with reviews accordingly as well as reporting the bug issue with appropriate authorities -which we have. (We also found that in checking multiple sites- we have not been the only ones noting bugs and rude treatment at the BGH.) We highly recommend Bisbee- a great town with lots of art shops, clothing and gift stores, museums, music and great food. We do not recommend the Bisbee Grand Hotel- EVER. If you do decide to use BGH, we encourage you to check first with the county health in Bisbee for bed bug/insect clearance. read more

I stopped in at this place for a drink. It had fun halloween decorations up. Tall vaulted ceilings. Very spacious. I believe they sometimes have live music here. I felt the beer tap selection was a bit lacking and after being to Old Bisbee Brewery and meeting the great folks there I was disappointed with the bartender Tristan or whatever her name was, not too friendly so I will knock off a star. Bar and seating were pretty empty when I came in but we were able to be seated at the bar where we waited a considerable amount of time before being helped by a bartender whose shift was ending soon. After she chatted with us and helped us out getting our drinks and tab started, we were ignored the rest of the time by the other staff which was sad because the building and it's history were so cool as I'd heard from others around town and I wanted to hear more! How could anyone in their right mind give this place five stars? Pros 1) The building is structurally sound. 2) Check in was friendly but weird. We had to wait for the bar to get served before we did--minor. Cons 1) Paper thin walls. Good if you like to hear locals break kariokee machines. Bad if you like to sleep. 2) Worse sleep of my life...actually ruined the next day of my vacation as well. 3) Our room felt like it Mork and Mindy's apartment, with a step up bathroom on a balcony. Whatever, not my taste, but mixing a thousand different inspirations together does not make you creative it makes you cheap. 4) The towels were old, like in a "let's use them at the hotel" after they used them at home kind of way. 5) We slept in our hoodies over the comforter after my wife found a pube in the sheets. 6) The breakfast ....meh. The bartender was fantastic at the bar but watch out for the GM. She's probably one of the most unpleasant people I've experienced in a long time. As a bartender and manager, I find it extremely disrespectful to yell over customers as you are conducting your liquor inventory day. As much as I would love to hear that your sailor Jerry bottle isn't full , I would prefer for my bartender to not be berated by his management. Your GM needs to learn about customer service, it's not that hard. You can be yourself and act like how ever you want to but don't make me feel like I'm inconveniencing you and interrupting you because I ordered a drink. I speak to a lot of people and I make a lot of suggestions for tourists across Arizona and you guys will never see me again nor will you ever be getting a recommendation by me. read more

This hotel is exactly the reason why I love traveling to small towns all over Arizona again, and again. Besides the hotel being set in the gorgeous town of Bisbee, the hotel is conveniently located around bars, shops, and restaurants. You check in at the bar located right next to the hotel, with the hotel manager who is also the bartender. This will also be where you get your complimentary hot breakfast. In the mornings, it turns into a little cafe with dining tables if you don't want to eat in your room. We booked the Oriental suite that has an authentic antique Chinese wedding bed that dates back to the 1890's. The whole thing is carved wood, very intricate. The room also had a claw foot bathtub, and oriental decorations. The only negative I really spotted is that things seemed to be very dusty. I know they don't get super busy with customers daily and that this is a vintage hotel, but that is the only thing I could see they need improvement on. A little Pledge wouldn't hurt. The wifi was very good if you are worried about connectivity issues. They also have a mini office alcove complete with tourist info and a phone. The sign in book was interesting to read when we were touring the hotel by ourselves. You can read notes by people who have visited from all over the world. Many of them talk about ghost sightings they have seen in the hotel. All of the other rooms are open when you stay, so you can tour and see all of the decor. We genuinely captured many things on camera, so if you are interested in ghosts, this town is the place to hunt. This hotel was certainly not void of activity. The manager was friendly and the next morning, the breakfast was very good. Think eggs, sausage, juice, toast, hash browns, omelets, etc, not frozen waffles and muffins like most places who claim to offer a "full" hot breakfast. The outside upstairs terrace is a great place to eat in the morning. The rooms upstairs are not handicap friendly, as the only way to get to them is by many stairs. They have rooms that are street level however, so all is not lost. You can carry your drinks from the bar back to your hotel room! read more
