Cozy, cool, and moody, this place is a ~vibe~ for any night out! Service is friendly, drinks come out fast, and I didn't try the food, but it looked good from what I could see. I highly recommend the dirty chai w/ oat milk. I was happily sipping on this drink under the colorful lights for about an hour. I'll be back!

Random gem!! Went to Ruby Falls and were looking for good drinks after and found the Bitter Alibi. Loved it It was super chill. Went here on a whim late on a Saturday night. When you walk in, you have to go down a spiral staircase to order food/drinks. Service As soon as we made it downstairs, the bartender let us know it was last call for the kitchen in 2 minutes. We quickly glanced through the menu and ordered the Verde Chicken Tacos, Bulgogi Philly, and fries. Though the kitchen was about to close, they still took the time to ensure all the food was cooked to perfection and came out piping hot. Bartenders were friendly and very patient. Food I was surprised to see Bulgogi beef in a bar, but I was pleasantly surprised at how great it tasted. Had a mild spice but a good depth of flavor as it was presented as a Philly cheesesteak, which made sense in this type of setting. From the melted Swiss cheese to the crunch of the bell peppers, the sautéed onions, and the tender beef, you can't go wrong with this option! The Verde Chicken Tacos had plenty of fresh toppings that added to a well put together taco. On the Spicy Piña Margarita, it was not as well balanced as I'm used to, so I would try a different cocktail when I go back. Ambiance We were already greeted by some patrons leaving, and they wished us a good time as we walked into the establishment. The vibe was chill and relaxed. Spiral staircase to go up, one to go down to the basement, and an outdoor seating area that allowed dogs make this a place where everyone feels welcome.

This place is one of the best places to eat in Chattanooga! Bar staff is super friendly, food is AMAZING!, and the general vibe is so cozy and communal. We came back here several times throughout our stay in Chatt, and each time were so satisfied with what we ordered.

Chill, delicious, and subtly audacious, the Bitter Alibi is a treat. Breakfast was low key, portions just right and the diverse menu had something for everyone. Staff was uber friendly and genuine. A perfect representation of Chattanooga in personality, quality, and tasty goodness. read more

This place is FAB! I've eaten breakfast/brunch here 2 or 3 times, and I have not been disappointed yet. I can recommend the breakfast burrito and any of the French toast-type options. They also serve alcohol, so you can have a nice mimosa with that yummy meal of yours. There are cons, however. The parking situation is non-existent (expect to walk a bit), and once you arrive you will usually have to wait at least 20 minutes to be seated due to the small nature of the building. read more

This is one of those places where you want to try everything on the menu. I would consider this an Asian fusion spot with some really inspired dishes. The vibe and the food are great. I had the Arnold and the Korean Cuban. Both were spectacular and I could tell they were made with love. Go here and you will not regret it. read more

The Bitter Alibi just made our must come back list for breakfast in Chattanooga. The food was excellent and the service was great! The Soul Train is a definite winner for breakfast. Our server was very attentive and it took one time for her to remember how we liked our coffee and brought more the same way every time. All in all a great experience and we'll definitely be back next time we're in Chatt. read more

This place had an eclectic menu and the food didn't disappoint. Everyone at our table thoroughly enjoyed their food. If you like strong coffee this is the place for you. I would love to come back and try some of the other items that looked amazing, but I had no more room in my tummy this time. I would give this place 5 stars, but the lighting in the restaurant was way to bright for the tables close to the windows in the morning. A small shade could fix the issue easily. read more

Love this place ! The food and services was great! .... My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick breakfast spot on our way from Philadelphia to Florida. This place was recommended by a local. We had a hard time finding the restaurant since we are not from Tennessee . Once we walked in we were greeted immediately . The restaurants atmosphere was great between the music, lighting, and artwork have it a great touch. The menu was small with great options. We both had the Korean Seoul Train it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! The pork was cooked perfect and the salsa had the right amount of spice. I defiantly recommended this place and it's a must try for anyone who visiting Chattanooga. read more

Shame on Chattanooga breakfast restaurants for not being open. But, thank you for being closed because I landed at The Bitter Alibi after 3 failed attempts to find breakfast. The food and service are an Outstanding PLUS! My Tiramisu French Toast was better than I imagined, when I ordered it. And the chef knows how to prepare perfectly scrambled eggs. KUDOS! I love this place! My best bud and I decided to go here for a late breakfast and we couldn't believe that the food was so good. I ordered The Arnold and she The Seoul Train. We split it and ate every bite. I'm a coffee snob and theirs was excellent. The vibe was hip but we middle-aged women felt comfy and cool. My wife and I had brunch here while in town for a wedding. Service was great. Food was even better. We loved the biscuits and chorizo gravy and bloody mary choices so much that we tried to dine there again for brunch the following day. Sunday brunch drew quite a crowd. read more

Ok... So you have a street entrance with a beautiful porch, but hey we'd rather people (unfamiliar to us) enter, instead, around back-having to duck-through what looks like the service entrance. No thank you. Shady and ridiculous. Why don't you use the front door as the... Um... Front door. We walked in the back and no one gave us any direction as to where to sit, menu, or even acknowledged us, ect. Looks like we aren't welcome. So we left. read more

Nice little out of the way spot for breakfast. Much brighter inside than I would have guessed. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Iced mocha was just right - a hint of chocolate without being too sweet. The Seoul Train was delicious! Lots of layers of flavor. Some reviews say the portions are too small, but I didn't think so at all. I was pleasantly full at the end of my meal. read more

We ventured out last night for a bite and a drink, and ended up here. We couldn't have been happier! The vibe is very dive bar, but the food is amazing. Get any wanted to see when she is and I'm sure you'll be happy. My husband had the Buffalo chicken, and I had the grilled cheese, add bacon and tomato. The chips were great, the brews were cold and their assortment of board games was wonderful. They have great beers on draft, and the assortment of cans was impressive. It fills up quick, so if you're looking to stay a while you might want to get there around 7:30 in order to get a table. We got 2 sandwiches, two sides, for beers, and a T-shirt, and it was about $50. Great prices, great atmosphere, and an extremely polite staff! read more

First time visiting . Great drinks and cool atmosphere . Long ,long wait on food and not accommodating with their food . I wanted egg whites for my daughter and they wouldn't do it although they serve eggs , kinda weird. Good brunch options . The temperature inside is almost as hot as its outside . Awesome little gem of a place. Great selection of craft beers. Came here for late lunch and just fell in love. Josh my waiter was very knowledgeable with the beers as I like to try new crafts. The menu is very diverse and eclectic. The jerk burger was so delicious and the roasted Brussel sprouts are fabulous. Will definitely have to come here again when i'm in Chattanooga. History

Established in 2014.

"Hey, I bet I could open a restaurant..." Jason had worked in a number of Chattanooga restaurants from dishwasher to manager learning everything he could. After feeling a bit tired in his role as an Elementary School teacher, he decided to take a chance on opening a small basement bar and slingin' a few sandwiches and a few dozen beers to his friends. Years later, the place has taken over 3 floors, 2 patios, 1 alley, and a ragtag team of some Chattanooga bartending and culinary celebs. We've been here for a few years and we don't plan on going anywhere! Thanks for checking us out. Great drinks and service, but beware the checkout screen…read more The drinks and service at Unknown Caller are genuinely fantastic. I highly recommend the "Bartender's Choice" cocktail option--the staff is incredibly skilled, and the drinks they crafted were awesome. However, management needs to fix their highly deceptive checkout flow. The bar chooses not to bake Tennessee's mandatory 15% Liquor-by-the-Drink tax into their menu prices. When the bartender flips the POS tablet to pay, the system completely hides the itemized receipt. It jumps straight to a final total that includes a combined 24.25% in state and liquor taxes. To make matters worse, the screen presents ridiculous suggested tip options of 20%, 30%, and 40%--which are calculated on top of that heavily taxed final total rather than the subtotal. If you just tap a prompt, you end up aggressively tipping on hidden taxes. Come for the excellent cocktails and great bartenders, but ignore the suggested buttons and manually calculate your tip based on the actual menu price of your drinks.

She took our order, then the drinks arrived and before we knew it the food was out and was incredible! The charcuterie was good with cheeses, cured meats, jams, crackers, etc. all in all, the star is the Al fresco seating and the River, and of course the company of my beautiful wife! So, go for outdoor seating and bring your own beau!

Ambiance: GORGEOUS patio and perfect place to watch the sunset! They have fireplaces and heaters on the patio. Food: we got wings, mac and cheese, chicken Bahn mi, and deviled eggs! The best entree is the wings! The mac and cheese portion is insane! It can feed a small village probably. We split it in between four people and couldn't finish. The banh mi wasn't impressive but it's ok. The eggs were good too but not too memorable. Service: Zach was amazing, so attentive. I sat myself outside on the patio and I was greeted shortly sitting down. He was also very honest with recommendations which I really appreciated. Overall: love love love! Great place for an intimidate date and an amazing view of downtown Chattanooga!

We stopped in for pre-dinner drinks on a Saturday with a big group, and I immediately fell in love with their roadhouse ephemera, all neon beer signs, Willy Nelson posters, etc. but with a fun twist to let you know they're in on the joke. I was instantly transported back to my old Austin mainstays, and immediately knew we were in for a good time. Their cocktail menu bordered tiki, which was a welcome twist, and I loved sipping on the barn sour, a gin mixed with the freshest scent of cantaloupe. Friends really enjoyed their creamy and decadent frozen amaretto sours, making one of the cheekiest and chicest drinks in town. A must in Chattanooga and one of my new favorite bars anywhere.

It also has an outside patio. There's a fireplace inside along with two TVs. You can also order food in here. They have appetizers, soups and salads, burgers and sandwiches, entrees, flatbreads, desserts, sides and even a kids menu to choose from. As far as drinks are concerned they have; wines, bottled beers, cocktails. Of course, they have beverages like cokes, sweet tea, milk, hot chocolate, coffee and bottled water. They have no fountain drinks and no beer on draft. Everything is in a bottle, so remember that. They are open in the mornings and close around 10am to 11am daily. Then they open again every day at 5pm and close again around 10pm. So, They are only open for breakfast and then supper. However, if they are busy on Fridays and Saturdays, for example, they will stay open later. Customer Service: My bartender took care of me and was very friendly. She talked to me for awhile until people stared coming in. I will tell you this. Someone next to me ordered a steak dinner with a salad. If I hadn't just eaten at Champys I would have gotten that as it looked good. Outside Patio: This outside patio looks real nice if you are coming with a group of friends. They will serve you of course out there. You are also allowed to bring your drinks out there if you like. The outside patio is very impressive if it's nice outside.

They do have a very interesting selection of beverages and the patrons were even more interesting than the beverages. You get excellent service here along with the fantastic ambiance. This is a very unique and fascinating spot in Chattanooga to investigate as part of your adventures in the downtown area. Overall it is certainly one of the more unique places I have visited in the Chattanooga area.

Burger was decent but not crispy on the edges like some smash burgers. I think the food is decent if you come here to drink, but I wouldn't go just to eat. They don't do flights per se, but they do half pours. I walked around a little bit to take in the scenery as I did notice that they had food but you do have to go outside order and pick up which is no problem because it's literally right outside the door to their back patio area. The back area was full of families and furry friends. Our servers were attentive to our needs and fun to talk to. You could see that they all enjoyed each other's company as well which I believe is very important in the service industry.

I had the Blackened Fish tacos which were delicious with the sauce and slaw. My husband had the Rib Eye Cheesesteak with a side of fried Okra. He said it was delicious. My daughter had the Gouda burger and she said it was really good. They both enjoyed the onion rings which they said were nice and crispy. I had a margarita and my daughter had the strawberry lemonade with vodka, the drinks were also great. Plus, our server Hudson, was very attentive. If I were in town I would definitely stop here again.

The first words that come to mind when I think if the bitter alibi are...well, none. This establishment rendered me speechless. I could feel the love from these fine people as soon as I walked in the door. Service leaves nothing desired. The whole environment builds on their sense of community. Overall, my only desire would be to add liquor to the menu for my beer palate is that of a spring pansy, but I understand patience is a virtue (maybe one day). I do not go out often, but when I do, I will frequent the bitter alibi. I adore this place. read more

The bar on the third floor seemingly looks cool, but it was ridiculously hot and the bartender was an abrasive prick. Go here if you want to sweat and be around transplants who think being an asshole is service. read more
