I checked out the 3rd deck Burger Bar before a Fall River cruise on the Southern Belle, and I'm so glad I did! When I walked in, it was a sports bar feel with lots of couches and seating, TVs, and games. My husband I got the Chattanooga burger (which was delicious) and a bucket of 6 beers for only $20 (and we could bring it on the boat). The bartender, Shelly, was great (great name too, btw lol). My family was in for a burger joint close to the aquarium. This place was just terrible. They have several games and which were fun, the foosball table was broke--my kids had fun regardless of picking up the balls from the floor each time someone scored. The main problem was the service. We ordered simple enough food (burger, two hot dogs and a kids grilled cheese). I had a few other family members with me and that ordered pretty much the same thing. The food came out sporadically and made no sense. People that ordered after us were getting there's before us, people were missing food around us (one family got a remade burger 2 different times and waited an hour and a half for an extra order of fries). I got my burger after about 30 minutes. The rest of the food didn't come out for an hour. An hour for two hot dogs and a grilled cheese. My other family had the same problem. That got their burgers and had to wait for the rest. When my sister in law tried to ask about the food the waitress cut her off and rudely said "Calm down. It's coming. We're obviously a little busy and have a small grill." For the record, there was only one other family in the restaurant when we arrived and ordered. Shouldn't you have a larger grill if you're a burger place? The burger was ok, the place was ok, the service was horrendous. Oh and there was a random vacuum cleaner unplugged in the middle of the floor with the extension cord strung across the room, left there the entire time we were there. This restaurant on the 3rd deck of a boat is known for their burgers. So, I got the burger and fries special for $9.99. I have been here several times as it is on the boat called pier 2. This is a perfect place to come and cool off from Riverbend. It is hidden gem of Riverbend because of this. Most people do not know that you can just walk on this boat to the 3rd deck and get a beer or two or a burger and fries. If you like, just go here and find a couch in front of a TV and rest up and cool off. A waitress will be on their way. You can also check out the outside as their is outside seating or just stand along the railings and take in the scenery. You can see other smaller boats too. My wife and I came here on the Fourth of July, before and after our Southern Belle Riverboat Cruise. I wish I knew the names of the two women who were serving, but they were THE BEST!!! The burger was tasteful enough but I was majorly disappointed to receive a bag of chips with the burger. For 16 dollars is it too much to ask for a handful of fries. Not giving fries with a burger is a amateur move. It feels like a fee grab to have to pay for a side of fries with my burger. Back to the burger, it was tasteful but over cooked. I am slow to give any negative reviews. My wife and I had tickets for the sunset cruise and on the way onto the boat we're going to order a burger to take along. The bartender let us know it may be cutting it close to order and get it in time for before the trip and offered to have it ready for when we got back, immediately before they close. Upon our arrival back we got a deer in the headlights look and he quickly jumped on the phone to ask the kitchen if it was ready. He told us it should be right out. After about 20 min he came clean and told the truth (which we appreciated) and said he completely forgot. Another 10-15 min went by and he explained the kitchen was already broken down and they had to restart the grill or something. This is an awesome place for a local to chill without a crowd and in the mood of not expecting to much. This is an awesome scene. The perfect set up for a 4 star chef and a couple good rotating mixologist, unfortunately just a set up. This owner has never attended a four star venue and if they have they care nothing of duplicating it. Again I love the scene, it has so much potential, BUT! The actual bar, was a huge let down....very under stocked, mostly what I call a tourist bar. Something you would expect at a decent holiday inn that serves liquor. The bartenders were nice guys. They tried. That means a lot, but with yelp I'm more honest than with my dog, and there is no more honest. Nick the bartender I almost tried to hire myself because he was trying to be so accommodating. He pretty much gave this place another star in my mind. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, it was good for a frozen sandwich on a decent bun, and still cold when I got it, keep in mind I haven't eaten in 36 hrs due to a virus, I should have fing loved every crumb naturally. It kinda reminded me of the time i had the munchies and I ordered a chicken sandwich from a Trailor at the county fair in south Alabama.....but the county fair one was better and I got sick off it. They had no Avion. From here on out if you call yourself a bar and you don't have the worlds best tequila two years running, you can not call yourself a bar, and you loose one star with me. They gave me a beer with no glass in a can, that's so freakin redneck, even for Chatt. I could go on for days, but I have closed my tab because they kept their baileys outside on the bar, Irish cofee not on the menu , lol , off to try new tmac.....hope I will be back when I want a cheap beer and I've got another 5 guys on my tab. We went to third deck and two times in a row they overcharged us. The first time they gave us a discount ticket for a drink for the next time because they knew they overcharged us. However, this time we went and got overcharged again. We turn in our Discount Ticket and ordered. They charged us for three drinks drinks and we should have only been charged for two. It cost $50 for three drinks and half of a hot dog platter. It's not appealing. read more

We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere here at 3rd deck burger bar. The 1/2 lb black angus burger was top notch. We ate out on the deck at sunset and it was just beautiful. Service was prompt and excellent. I recommend dining here when in visiting Chattanooga. read more

Just don't. This is NOT a "Burger Bar" restaurant by any stretch of the imagination. We, a family of four with one child of 10, went in around 7PM Sunday night, and the place was empty. Staff were sitting around playing on their phones, and we had no idea where we were supposed to go or how to proceed with the ordering process. When we made it across the vast barren expanse of the upper dining area to the bar, we found a hand written neon grease sign with "instructions" on how to order. Having been to The Burger Bar several times, I was taken aback by the process since it didn't follow what I was used to at all. We ordered a loaded nacho appetizer and four burgers. The food arrived in a relatively timely manner, but that's all the positive feedback I can give it. The nachos came out with the rest of the food, and they were cold, pallid and tasteless. The burgers...well...the burgers were awful. The 10-year-old took two bites and sat it down obviously dissatisfied. The adults, we were even less impressed. The bun is huge and grossly disproportionate for the pre-packaged, frozen patty. The fries served with the burgers are not made in house, either. None of us finished our food. In fact, we decided to go back to the hotel and order something delivered. The insult added to the injury came when it was time to cash out and leave. For our enjoyment, we were charged over $70. Save yourself the disappointment. You'll get a better burger from McDonald's. read more

I just got home from a wonderful evening at 3rd Deck. My high school class held a meet and greet there tonight as a prelude to our dinner dance tomorrow. I cannot say enough about how smooth the entire event was handled by 2 ladies! Shelly and Megan were outstanding! We didn't require RSVPs from folks hoping many would drop by. We thought we would have about 40 people, we had close to twice that many and these girls handled everyone with good service and great food and drinks. I will recommend this place to anyone planning a celebration in a casual atmosphere in a location that highlights the best of Chattanooga. Great job, 3rd Deck! read more

Find your way up stairs, they give you a menu you check what you want, find a seat they call your name or bring you your food. They got ping pong, foose ball, plenty of seating, tables and couches. The out side was the best ate there for lunch weather was perfect. We sat on the front of the boat they have bar seating on the rail overlooking the waterfront activities. Nina and the Pinta we're visiting. Southern Bell came in and docked. Watched the boats go by and enjoy the scenery. Ate wings burgers and tater wedges all was good. We had the best time on vacation this past weekend and hung out at the third deck burger bar but only for drinks. The bartenders (Shelly, and forgive me, I forgot the other name) were so fun, so attentive, and made our visit such a blast. This was the worst customer experience of my life. My family and I have never been treated so poorly by a manager. We were eating dinner and there were some finger foods behind us on tables. The bartender came over and told us to help ourselves with the food. When we went to the finger foods a manager came by and told us the food wasn't for us acting like we were trying to steal food. We didn't care that we couldn't eat it and told him the only reason we we getting some was because the bartender told us we could. He then told us that it is "my bar" and it doesn't matter what anyone else there says. We were surprised he was getting so upset and he would not let it go. He kept trying to argue with us which got made us upset. He continued to try to argue with us and belittle us all because we were going to try some food after another employee told us we could. We realized he was not going to calm down so we asked for the checks. He was rude about that as well. He sent the bartender over and refused to acknowledge us after that. Luckily the bartender was very kind and kept apologizing for the way we were treated. We have been there many times before and like to show support for Chattanooga businesses. We even had out engagement party there. It's sad because we liked going there, but i doubt we'll go there again because of him. read more

They could have told us instead of just looking at us. And two other tables experienced this while we were there. The food is expensive. The food isn't bad but nothing to brag about for sure. Mediocre at best. The bar was out of every premium drink except crown and Makers. Over 30 min to get our food, and it was not busy this Sunday evening. The bathrooms were nasty and the toilets were filled with, well you know. And last but not least, the bartender was apparently more worried about her text and social media than her job. We enjoyed a late lunch on a beautiful 'Nooga afternoon. Got a burger and wings. The burger was pretty darn good, without being pretentious. Topping selections are the norm so the burger itself could shine. The wings had a really tasty sauce, but I thought they were small. Bartender was friendly, helpful, and attentive. This place could be so cool, yet it fails. The place is dated and a bit grungy in the daylight, though they are painting the outside which should help. Do you ever wish your Grandma lived on an old riverboat? Do you also wish you could go head to head with her and 83 of her closest friends in darts? Well look no further! The boat sits right on the river. Couldn't ask for a better spot. The boat was eerily quiet as we walked up, but we pushed inside. On the first floor was a gift shop with an alarming amount of souvenirs. Thousands upon thousands of boat themed items. But this was 3rd deck burger bar, we wanted to where the action was. We took the elevator up to the 3rd deck, stepped off the elevator and back in time. It was 1990 and I was back in my grandmas basement again. Same smell, same couches, same carpet, same everything. The 3rd deck is one large room with tables in the middle, a bar at the end, and tvs lining the outside. About 5 or 6 big screens on each side with couches surrounding each tv. The place is silent. The 80s soft rock is on the lowest possible setting almost as if they're are whispering sweet words to you. Perhaps it was nap time before bingo kicked off and they'll be damned if Hall and Oates disturbed their guests. On the outside edge of this room were a few dart boards. And by a few I mean at least 25. Maybe this is where the World Series of Darts is, I don't know. The lighting came from the tiny windows on the side of the boat which was nice. Especially since I enjoy drinking alone in the dark on river boats. The area leading to the outside deck had ping pong tables because why waste more deck space with outside seating? The outside deck was nice. The river breeze was great. It's what you would expect if you were on a boat or something. Had a beer and left for greener pastures. I gave it three stars because everyone around us seemed to like their food. Also, i think this place has huge potential. Odd and disappointing experience. My family came into the restaurant and were greeted by a man who looked confused and asked why we were there. He then clarified by asking if we were drinking at the bar or eating (a question I'm not usually asked when dining with my 2 and 5 year olds). We picked a table and the server asked if our children would also be eating..."uhhhhh yeah..." After that although The restaurant was almost completely empty (the indoor area was completely empty besides us and we peeked outside and there were maybe 3 tables occupied), the server did not come back. We were seated then sat there for at least 25 minutes before we finally gave up on ever having our drink order taken. I approached our server. I told him why we wouldn't be staying. He said "my bad" and that he could take our drink order now. I said no and that I had a bad vibe about the whole experience. And he said "well, I can't do anything about vibes." read more
