Just WOW! Passing through Fruitland, hoping I could find something better than a burger for lunch and found this on Yelp. Walked in, it's pretty packed, so sat at the bar. Lots of burgers, maybe next time, but the Bird and Berry caught my attention because cream cheese with turkey and avocado are great. The salad I chose as the side did not disappoint. I opted for half a sandwich and when it arrived, was glad I did, just half was generous, although it was SO good, I could have forced an entire one down. This is definitely a place I will return to. Always delicious every single time I go here. The service is always excellent and I haven't tried anything that I didn't like. Disappointed in Black Cow once again. I had the Daily Special which was a French Dip. The sandwich was above average, but rather than Au Jus I received a small bowl of BROWN GRAVY!! What the heck is that? Ruined the whole sandwich for me. I had a Fish & Chips Dinner there recently and the fish was burned and the Chowder was awful, I've had better Snows out of a can. I've tried this place twice, and though the food is good, the service is all chaos. It's not a cheap place, the food is not unreasonably priced, but its what you would expect to spend in a full service restaraunt. They need two things desperately: someone to bus the tables and more servers. The servers have so many tables, that they can't seem to get orders right, and god forbid if you should want to change something on your order. It's not a bad place, but everything in the front of house is so broken, I wouldn't recommend it unless you are going when they aren't busy and you don't need any modifications to what you see on the menu. read more

UPDATE: I had reviewed the Black Cow at their old location just down the street. Now they have new digs and the place is classy. Everything is new. They also serve adult beverages, but we just had water. Not sure if they had a TV over the bar or not, as we sat on the other side of the place. The main squeeze and I split the spicy chicken samminch and an order of fries. When I cut the sammie in half, I noticed it was not cooked through. After letting Katie know about it, she had them make another one and it was really good. Cheesy with grilled jalapenos that gave the sammie a nice bite. The fries were dynamite. They ended up comping the meal due to the first sammy. I would normally give a place 3 or 4 stars for this, but the customer service was beyond great as was the samminch. Celebrating my birthday and visiting family in Fruitland decided to grab lunch. So happy we finally tried Black Cow Cafe. Decoration is warm, comfy- like being at home. Loved the cow hide wall. Service was excellent. Food is great. My husband had the Bacon Blue Burger. Double patty tons of bacon slices and hot crispy fries. Husband said that the burger was impeccable and he would drive from Meridian to Fruitland to eat another! I had the Hog Heaven sandwich. OMG it was packed with meat galore. We ordered the beast of burden even though it wasn't on the dinner menu, for the waitress placed that order anyways...yay. Delicious, but order it with the bread toasted to step it up a notch. Went there for the first time, won't be going back. I got the bbq flat bread and fries and it cost me around $22 total before tip after the 15% "to go gratuity" fee. The service was bad and the server was rude. I feel like I shouldn't have left a tip because of the fee but I'm not sure where that money goes and the person didn't seem like they liked working there so I felt bad. The restaurant itself (interior and exterior) looked like it had been designed by CBH Homes and plucked straight from Meridian. I hate that!! I thought it would be good local food atleast, but the food was bad and the chicken on the "flatbread" was cold and chewy. All in all, I don't recommend this place, I'd rather go to Rustic Pig or the Red Barn down the street on Whitley. We were welcomed with a smile by our server, Katy, even though she was serving another table. She took our drink order right away (we both ordered water since it's sizzling hot outside). She took our order when she brought our drinks. We ordered the Mother Clucker spicy chicken sandwich and fries. Our meal came out within 5 ish minutes. I will tell you that my experience was a server that was so rude because when I found out when I got there to pick up a To-Go order that I ordered via the phone 10 minutes earlier that the they were going to charge 15% charge because it was To Go! They didn't even have the sandwich in a container only wrapped in paper on not even taped shut. I could maybe understand maybe a 5% charge to cover to go containers, but the only had one small salad container. They'd I'd not bother to mention the uncharted because it was ToGo. Then I thought the half sandwich and little salad was 10. 50, but by the time the added the 15% ToGo charge and the sales tax it was almost $15.00. I then said I would just take the sandwich which was $6.50. I guess she was offended by that because she took about 4 steps and rounded the corner to go get my change and no sooner did she get around the corner than she spoke loud enough for me to hear her tell the chef that was sitting at the bar that she hated people and that I was complainingg about the food et. Etc. Oct. I did let them both know right away that they had lost any business from my family and I would let others know that the server or bar tender hates people and treats them rudely so if they want to be treated with respect by someone who likes to serve their customers they should find another Cafe to enjoy!!! read more

I just had breakfast there today and it cost $22 for a very average bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns meal. Their menu options are very limited, don't even offer sausage for breakfast. The new location is nice, but definitely doesn't have the homie warm feel like the old spot! They need to have some music going in the background and maybe offer the cookies again!
