We were in the Belfast area and thought a visit to an alpaca farm would be a great idea. Our visit to the Blue Alpaca Ranch surpassed our expectations!! Once we parked on the lawn parking area, weapproached the backyard where there was a sign instructing us to either ring the bell provided or honk our car horn to get the owner's attention. I elected to ring the bell and the farmer's five-year-old son heard it and called to his dad (as he was instructed to do). Ben, the farmer, greeted us with a warm welcome. He gave us the origin story of the ranch. It was very obvious about he and his wife's passion for these animals. We got a great lesson about these animals. We were able to go into pasture areas for the male and female alpacas (they are kept separate). We learned a lot about the animals and about the fiber from them. After the tour, we went into the small retail area. Ben explained that they have a larger retail shop in town Belfast. We purchased several pairs of socks; their price point wasn't that much different than wool socks. At the entrance sign, there is a small donation box. The tour is free, but the donations are very important. These, along with purchases from the retail store support the great care for their animals. We were there about an hour. Hands down, 5 star experience! We visited on a dreary day and had the treat of being the only 2 people on our alpaca walk. Ben went with us on the walk and even took a ton of photos for us to remember the experience. We learned a lot about the alpacas and the farm. We had the pleasure of walking Gaius and Maestro. Gaius was mischievous and made the walk interesting. We got to love on their unique personalities for the entire walk. The walk was well worth the small fee! Then we got a chance to visit all the females and they are feisty! I had one spot in my face as they were all bombarding me for treats - and it was hilarious more than anything. I can't wait to return to visit these beautiful animals. read more

Amazing visit - Ivy was fantastic - gave us a tour of the farm, very personable and knowledgeable! We didn't do the walk, but many other people did! They recommend to call at least the day before (or longer) to reserve a time. The ranch store was cute - got some very soft socks and a baby alpaca doll made from alpaca fluff will definitely come back next time we are in the area! read more

This place is so amazing! I have always been a fan of alpaca teddy bears, but never had seen an alpaca in person. They are so cute and friendly, if you are an animal lover, this place is not to be missed if you are in Maine! The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable about all things alpaca. He gives free tours where you can pet and feed the animals. When we were there, we saw a 2 week old baby! They have a small store at the ranch and a bigger shop near the waterfront downtown Belfast. Even if its a little out of the way on your trip, I highly recommend you make a detour. read more

Arrived 45mins before farm closing time and was greeted by Ben the owner in the parking lot. Promptly took us to meet the alpaca and provided his knowledge as well as his friendliness. You can feel his passion for his alpaca family and it was such a pleasure to meet them all in a relaxing chill environment. Purchased my first alpaca socks from his store made with Maine alpaca fiber which Ben says I will love and not want to wear cotton/poly socks again! Great owners and shop. Super cute sweaters, mittens, hats, stuffed animals, all made from Alpaca fleece. I had a minor issue with my delivery of items and the owners promptly resolved the issue. The store ships to your home for free. Alpaca fleece mittens and hats are great for the cold winters we have in Chicago. Took a trip to the alpaca farm this weekend and had a great time! The alpacas were very friendly and the staff was great, they answered all our questions. Will definitely be coming back with more friends soon and stopping by the blue alpaca store in Belfast. We even got to meet a 7-day old baby alpaca! We also visited their store in downtown Belfast near the wharf (which is run by Ben's fiancé Michelle) and bought some super soft socks. This is small ranch and store run by a lovely couple, Michelle and Ben. Their store is right in downtown Belfast and has all the alpaca accessories you would expect and they give honest with recommendations of the products. Right outside of the downtown is their family owned farm with about a dozen alpaca. They animals are super cute and you can get right up to them to feed them! There is a small store at the ranch as well. We really enjoyed our time at both the downtown store and the ranch. And we are now big Alpaca fans! read more

What an amazing ranch! Wonderful owner who gave a great tour and we got treats to feed the alpacas. Saw the females first and they nibbled at the treats. Very soft and sweet animals. Definitely well cared for and loved. Learned a lot from the owner. Then saw the males and the one loves to give boops on the nose. Super cute and friendly! Loved the whole experience so much we came to their store in town. Lots of items that are well crafted and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend! read more
