We were visiting family in Indianola and we're told to eat at the Blue Biscuit. Amazing southern food. This is a must when in Iadianola

The Blue Biscuit is a bar, not a restaurant. I have now learned this. However, they have excellent bar food. When you walk in, it's honestly a dive. There were people drinking, chatting, standing, sitting, and two bartenders trying to keep it all going. I got one's attention and she let me sit in the back room, where there are some tables, couches, a TV.... all while a live band set up in the front room. That kind of atmosphere. To her credit, the bartender kept up with me and the food arrived quickly. Appetizers are expensive, entrees are cheap, but I saw a lack of portion size. Great hushpups, which I dipped in the comeback. Good "local pond-raised catfish" but would have been better with two filets like most places provide. And more dipping sauce for everything. The slaw wasn't as great as she suggested, or as plentiful. Finally, the bar: As I said, it's kind of divey. No craft or local beers on tap. But that's not unexpected. Just forewarning you. Verdict: Come for the ambiance more than the rest, but the rest isn't bad either. read more

What a cool spot. We went to the BB king museum and this is across the street. You can see from the pics, it's got a lot going on but in a really good way. Everyone was friendly and the food was great. I had the pimento cheese blt and loved it. As a northerner, I take every opportunity to order pimento cheese when in the south. I'm going to come back and try the pulled pork because that seems to be their thing. read more

Blue Biscuit has a state of the art chef. Bbque is great and also anything they mention as a special. It has a full bar and music on the weekends. Everything is great- food, music, beverages, and atmosphere. 100% recommended! read more

Thought we were going to a BBQ restaurant (misled by one of those "X best restaurants in..." and even their own websites - perhaps they've changed their menu recently, as only 1 BBQ item sited) but were pleasantly surprised by the food. We had fried green tomatoes and onion rings for starters and both decided on the Grilled Shrimp entrees. The tomatoes and Shrimp were pronounced excellent. Note to future visitors - they have Shrimp Gnocchi on the menu, which I would try if I revisited. They had an outdoor patio for those of us concerned about ventilation. On the 'minus' side, none of the staff and almost none of the patrons wore masks. The service was a bit irregular, as our original waitress was pulling duty as the bartender. read more

We got to the restaurant at 7:45 and had to leave at 8:30 because the band was so loud! We couldn't hear each other talk so we had to text! When we got our bill we questioned the $20 charge and was told it was for the band. There was no sign anywhere saying a $10 band charge would be added per person! Last time we came they had someone at the door collecting money at 9:00 so we were shocked we were automatically charged! We couldn't even finish our dinner because our ears were hurting so bad! This is by far the best restaurant in Indianola, MS. I'm definitely coming back. It's located real close to the BB King Museum. So, if you visit that museum, I recommend this restaurant. Features: They have a deer on the wall with Christmas lights on it I kid you not. To the right is a great big bass with a red solo cup in his mouth. See pic. They also have WiFi here too. The customer service was (top notch)here as they went way above average as they really took care of me. My waitress kept my drink full at all times. I ordered a Bar B Q sandwich with potato chips and a sweet tea. I also got coleslaw on the side and for desert I got some delta beignets. The coleslaw was absolutely delicious on the bar b q sandwich. They gave me a hefty portion of pork for my sandwich too. The delta beignets tasted like donuts with white powdered sugar on them that was in some kind of home made Louisiana honey. Be sure to get these for desert. Inside you can sit at tables with chairs or you can just sit at the bar like I did. Either way you are in for some great food. Entertainment: For your entertainment they have live music. They have blues bands that play in here on Friday and Saturday nights. In summary, you eat great food, drink and enjoy live music - all in one place at the Blue Biscuit. Oh, and don't forget to ask for a Blue Biscuit cup which makes for a perfect souvenir. read more

I was here for drinks, and beers are very reasonably priced, and ice cold, to accommodate the hot blues!!! Great hole in the wall, honky tonk, and fun venue. Food is an afterthought, but they occassionaly have some creative offerings. read more

I expected soul food. I got soul food from a formally trained culinary chef! This place may look like a shack, but don't be fooled. This is high quality grub for a modest price. I had the Crossroads Burger on a sourdough bun. It came with goat cheese, pesto, and apple smoked bacon. That's it. Can't remember the last time I had a burger without mayo, lettuce, tomato, and mustard or ketchup (except for a mushroom Swiss burger), but this was fantastic. My wife had pulled pork BBQ which was outstanding. The sauce was OK (our favorite sauce is at The Little Dooey in Starkville, MS). For dessert we had redneck beignets. These are hush puppy sized beignets with a corn kernel or two, topped with melted caramel, powdered sugar, and crushed pecans. The Blue Biscuit will be a regular stop for us when we travel to Indianola. read more

There is not a lot worth doing in the Delta, but if you happen to be in the area, eating here is certainly worth your while. Located just up the street from the BB King museum, this place has some of the best fried catfish in Mississippi, much better than the stuff you find on the Mississippi coast even! I have to admit, I didn't actually dine in the restaurant - I ate their stuff because they catered an event for my office at the BB King museum. But it was delicious. Absolutely delicious!!! My friends & I stopped on the way home from the Viking Half Marathon in Greenville, MS & we were not disappointed A beautiful sunny day & yummy food + drinks. The bloody Mary's were on point - so flavorful!! We all had burgers & they were AMAZING!! The meat, sourdough bun, blue cheese & we had the onion rings that were fabulous. Amazing atmosphere. Very good food. Gives a very authentic feel of the Delta - right across the street from the BB King museum, it has a very bluesy feel and had live music last Saturday night when we went. There are always some locals hanging at the bar, and the owner is extremely outgoing and friendly. We got the pulled pork bbq nachos as an appetizer, which were pretty good. I got the Crossroads Burger with bacon, goat cheese, and pesto. It was absolutely delicious. I substituted hush puppies as my side too, which were also very tasty. My girlfriend got a grilled shrimp salad, and they loaded it up with shrimp. I can't wait to go back to try more on the menu. read more

Very good food in this restaurant that is right across the street from the BB King Museum. Stopped here twice for dinner while visiting the area. The food has a sophisticated edge that shows real thought is put into the menu. I had kabobs on special one night, and the seasoning on the vegetables was delicious. The steak was very tender and cooked perfectly. The next time I had the ribeye. Again, great flavor and cooked just right. It's huge and a meal for two days. I had heard that this was an iconic establishment for dining, way out in the middle of nowhere, that you just had to visit. Well, the long and short of it is - the hype was definitely better than my experience. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't good either. Same for the service, and for the general ambiance as well. I live in Humble, Texas but the Blue Biscuit is my favorite place to take a road trip and party. Trish and Harlon are first class people and their staff is second to none. Food ok, but otherwise not real impressed. Went by for lunch and was told the special and that they also serve burgers, bbq, fish plates, and appetizers. Had to ask for a menu to see options. Another table arrived after us and were told they didn't have a menu for lunchtime (same server as our table). Took a bit before server returned to take order. We arrived at 5:30 and we were the only table in the building. Took 30 minutes to have our waitress come get our drinks. In the time that happened 2 tables came in behind us. One was in the same boat as us and the 3rd which was a party came in close to 6. The third table (a party table) was served and out before we could get a refill and even our appetize which ended up being 1 tomato and 4 shrimp for 17$. at 6:40 when she finally brought us our appetizers she told us that our food was just getting started. One of the people at our table wanted our coffee and the waitress informed us that their coffee pot had mold in it. The waitress we had should be fired for being rude and poor service. She looked at us as if we had asked her to kill her dog when we asked for refills and ice after sitting there for an hour. The second table had to walk up to one of the staff to ask for a refill because the service was so poor. If you still think you would like to come here then bring a long book. I would recommend one at a similar length to the Harry Potter series. read more

I absolutely loved eating at this place. The ambiance and decor was quite entertaining. The first time I stopped by to eat after a tour of BB King's Museum, I fell in love with the food. I tried many of the items on the menu and I was not disappointed. I was traveling through the town again and yes! I stopped to eat there again...Lord! It was even better!!! It was absolutely scrumptiously delicious!!! After I finished pigging out, I ordered different items on the menu to share with my family and guess what!!! They fell in love with the food as well! I have recommended this place to so many people and every chance I get, I will stop there to eat when visiting!!! On a side note, the owner actually takes time out of his hectic schedule and sits at your table and chat with you until your food arrives...great experience. As someone who always prefers to patron local dining establishments over chains, this was a great find in Indianola while traveling through the area. Great local place with a good mix of charm and atmosphere, not to mention very clean. BBQ pork sandwich was really good, as were the baked beans and turnip greens.
