Hell, I go to Doe's in Monroe every single time I am in Monroe. When I would profess my love for Doe's to my Mississippi friends they would always tell me: "you have to go to the Greenville location. It's the original". I figured they were right but also figured I would never be in Greenville since there are not many things to do there. But 2025 was the year that I finally made it here. We made a special stop on the way to Eureka Springs. It was everything I had hoped and I absolutely loved it. You must know that this is the original location and it is not fancy on the outside or the inside. Parking is mostly on the street and the neighborhood seems a wee bit sketchy. The building looks like an old house from the outside. Needless to say, the kids were skeptical and wondered why their dad drug them here. That continued when we walked in to the kitchen, walked through the other kitchen, and were seated in one of the rooms. One of the kids said: "I feel like I am dining at someone's house". Exactly. This place is famous! All skepticism was washed away when we got our food. A ribeye and fries for me and a fillet and fries for them to share. Both were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and made this Doe's fan grin from ear to ear. It was a great meal I will remember forever. Was it cheap? Definitely not. For two entrees, a beer, and a tea, it was around $200 with a tip. Was it worth it to me? Hell yes. I freakin loved it. Is it worth a drive from New Orleans just to eat here? Probably not. Should you divert a road trip to eat here? Absolutely. By the way, service was exactly as you would expect. Super friendly and we were treated like regulars despite it being our first time. Also, there was a cop working outside so don't be scared.

A bit too heavy for tomorrows race. I went with their salmon. The place was fully booked but had a high top bar table which did not require a reservation. Thank goodness we came early. Our hostess was helpful took separate checks and all our orders came out perfect. The only hiccup was it took about an hour for the food to come out. With all the orders I think the kitchen was swamped a little. Would have been nice to have some nuts or something to stave off the hunger but when the food arrived it was quickly scarfed down. No drinks but water for me, the salmon was perfect. This place has a rustic feel to it. Bar seating and tables. Classic brick wall interior. Open ambiance. Parking lot next door was convenient and free. They also have a to go delivery out back well marked in the parking lot.

I guess it was obvious we weren't from Greenville. Seems like everyone in MS is friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend The Grill. My husband said he would give the grill 5 stars. We are pulling a trailer and there was plenty of room to park.

We were responsible for serving ourselves and there was no one to direct us. It is not a buffet, so we had no idea how much food we were allowed to put on our plates. For either $10 or $12 (depending on the meat), you get a meat, 2 sides, a bread item, drink and dessert. Several items were completely out. A guy finally came to refill the fried fish and I had to ask him how many pieces we were supposed to get. If it wasn't for the fish, I probably would have left because none of the other meat items looked appealing. The fish was large and nicely seasoned. I opted for the sweet potatoes and macaroni & cheese. The sweet potatoes were good and macaroni tasted like a typical boxed recipe. We also had a choice between a roll or cornbread. The rolls were hard and not that great. I chose a bottled diet coke, because the fountain drinks were colorful and sweet looking, and I wasn't interested in drinking so much sugar. The desserts on the line didn't look appealing, but one of the staff told us that we could choose from various cakes as we got closer to the check out. What I saw next was inexplainable! I looked at the area with the cakes and it was in complete disarray (look at my pictures). There was a guy cutting store bought cakes and putting them in individual containers. The area was messy and the entire setup was unprofessional. While we were eating, I looked over to the food line and a guy was stirring food with one hand and talking on his cellphone with the other. Again, very unprofessional and unsanitary. One of the waitresses was also constantly drinking in front of the drink machines. The only plus worth mentioning is that the restaurant itself is nicely decorated. This place has a long way to go, so I'm not certain I'll be returning.
