3/12/21 - the only person I will allow to touch my brows. I've been going to Sandy Jew to do my brows for years and I love her work. As a newly diagnosed cancer patient, I was a little scared of getting worked on with the covid-19 virus still very much out there a few weeks before my chemotherapy treatment, but I wanted my brows done before chemo destroys me physically. Although Sandy was immediately likable to me during the initial session, I waited until my brows have actually been all healed and results final before I wrote a review, just to make sure it is accurate and hopefully helpful to others. My brows were very thin due to over-tweezing in my teenage years, followed by pregnancy hair loss and they just never grew back. I also had always had such a hard time making them look even when using a pencil or powder to draw & fill my brows. I had contemplated getting microblading done so that I can feel more confident, and not self-conscious about my brows rubbing or fading off especially in the hot & humid weather. I'm writing a review on behalf of my friend. I went to the appointment with my friend so I witnessed the whole process. Sandy is so amazing! She is extremely nice, patient and professional! However way you want your brows, feel free to let Sandy know. She really listens to her clients. She will give her professional opinions as well. My friend loves her new brows! First, she made templates for each brow by taking some measurements then she outlined the brows with a pencil so that she can follow the outlines when she applies the permanent ink. Sandy was great! She's so sweet and calming. I had my eyebrow micro bladed. She explained the procedure and answered all of my questions. She gave me a blanket and a wedge pillow to put my legs on. She asked me what shape I wanted, measured, marked me up and then drew on the outline so I could make sure I liked the placement, shape and length. She mixed the color and put it in my face so I could see what it would look like before the procedure began. She numbed up my eyebrows with Lidocaine and checked periodically to see if I was numb or still able to feel. That took the longest of the procedure. Once started, she frequently checked in to make sure I wasn't feeling pain during the procedure and that everything was ok. I felt only slight pressure and no pain. Before she finished she had me check to see if I liked the outcome, then finished up. My appt was booked on a Sunday from 9-1pm but we were done by 10:45. She took her time and seemed very conscientious about her work product. I'm so happy I booked with her even though there were other well rated places closer to me (45 min drive was worth it). I have been getting permanent/semi-permanent make up for almost twenty years now and I have to say that Sandy is the best at microblading eyebrows. It seems like some artists like to do or can only do one style of eyebrows on all their clients, however if you look at Sandy's work, you'll see many different style of eyebrows that compliment each person's eyes/face. She is extremely patient, does not rush or make you feel like she's rushing to do another client, and has the sweetest demeanor. She is also quite the perfectionist - for me, I think she was even more concerned how my eyebrows turned out than I was. I fully trusted her, yet she was constantly making adjustments as she seemed fit. I wholeheartedly appreciated her attention to detail. Sandy will listen to what you want and give you recommendations that will guarantee great results. I also appreciated the fact that Sandy does not charge the intial procedure and touch up upfront. Although a small deposit is required for you to book an appointment, you don't pay for your touch up until you get it done. Most other places require that you pay both the intial procedure and touch up upfront. Sandy's prices are also very competitive. I feel she charges less than her competitors. Even if she charged more, I would go to her since you can't put a price on excellent work. Her office has a great and calming ambiance. She also plays relaxing music...LOL, I didn't know that Do the Stanky Leg could be sung in such a relaxing mode until I came to Sandy's office. Is it painful, you wonder? Honestly, if you weren't numbed, it is really painful. However, Sandy will constantly check on you throughout the procedure to make sure you're not in pain. If you feel pain, she'll add more numbing solution. And don't be afraid to be honest - let her know. I was so scared of my previous artist that I wouldn't let her know I could feel pain. I just laid there in silence with tears running down my face. Sandy was the first person that I felt comfortable enough to tell her if I was in pain or not. Before you leave, she'll add more Lidocaine gel to your eyes which really helps ease any pain. In the past, I would have to take some Ibuprofen to relieve the pain after the numbing solution disappeared. Have never had to take pain meds after getting my eyes done by Sandy! I have several friends that have also chosen to get their eyebrows microbladed by Sandy and we all have received numerous compliments on how great and natural our eyebrows look. I've been researching microblading for at least 6 months before I found Sandy's page on instragram. I liked her work and quickly read her Yelp reviews. Everything that people say about her are true. She is very professional and meticulous about her work. She ask me if the shape was ok prior to microblading them and ask me if I felt any pain. Believe it or not, I didn't think it hurt at all, the noise from the cutting of the skin was more scary than the blade. After the healing process I was surprised how well the ink retain onto my skin since I have oily skin. There was a very small botch on one eyebrow but overall the process went smoothly.
