Decided to try Kelly last year because I was lazy to drive to Bev Hills to see Patrizia. Ok well Kelly fit me in about an hour after I called her. I was impressed...walked into her place...it was small but clean. She tells me right off the bat..I dont do the back and I dont tweeze. She wasnt very nice at all. This was my first time here...really? are you going to be that rude? She also seemed a bit uncomfortable while she was waxing my kitty. Why are you doing brazilians if you are going to be weird about it. Well anyway at my usual spot they tell me to turn this way and that way. I came across this spot because of Yelp and probably went for a good 4 months before calling it quits. I was actually going to Kelly all last summer and have not been back for about 8 months as I was taking a break from the waxing experience all together just because it's crazy painful to me. But on to my review.....from my very first impression of her; I got that she likes to get down to business and not much else (which is fine by me). She really does work quickly and expects you to go along with her program (I mean we are getting her on the cheap aren't we?). So here's where I now share my experience with you: Waxing - She is good, she is quick, she is relatively pain free. However I think moving too fast can compromise a quality experience and I did find that from time to time. One time I was left quite irritated and raw and that took a good bit of healing to get over. Involvement - Yes, you do have to help her with some pulling, holding, moving, stretching (but then hey; you can get your workout for the day in right ?) Shop - Small, bright, airy, clean and cute - what more could you want? Wait Time - Very rarely will you have to wait longer than 5 minutes and as noted by others here on Yelp; definitely do not be late as she books back to back and will not take kindly to you throwing her schedule off. Pricing - Seeing as she is one of the most affordable around, you will definitely get what you want and need for a great cost! If for the first time you arrive you have al ot of hair to remove, it may cost you a bit more. Interaction- This is where things are a bit odd; I always felt that something was strained in our interactions and I could never put my finger on it and so who knows when all is said and done? I noticed other people did mention haughtiness, discomfort and rudeness and I would have to say that I did experience some dicey moments where those factors did rear up and I tried to squash them by giving her the benefit of the doubt and just making nice, nice, nice but something seems off and time and money is too valuable for me to waste on feeling torn (good pun, yeah?) So when all was said and done I just could never get over being slightly emotionally uncomfortable in a totally physically uncomfortable situation and I ended up just giving it up all together. read more

I found this place on Yelp and gave Kelly a try (because of the rave reviews). I thought the experience was quite odd. I didn't appreciate having to hold my own skin while she waxes. That was awkward...and she was quite demanding about it. I cleared my throat and she ran out of the room to get a facemask...again, awkward. The bikini wax = decent. But I still had hair left that I had to pluck when I got home. Price = good. The salon = run down. I'll pay $5 more and go back to my old salon. read more

So cheap and amazingly painless brazilian. I came here bc I got a groupon for a brazilian. You park on the street, but there were lots of spots, so I don't think that would be a problem. The spa is a very basic, no-frills place. I was a little concerned bc of the numerous reviews that said she wasn't very friendly, but I found her to be very friendly and chatty. The brazilian took about 20 minutes, and it involved almost no pain. It was so much less painful than waxes I've had that cost more than twice what Kelly charges. Yes, you have to hold your own skin taut and you oil yourself up afterwards but seriously, for the price/painlessness, I think it's worth it. read more

I went here in August of 2008 for a brazilian bikini wax and although it was SUPER cheap it was one of the worst waxes I have ever gotten - including ones I gave myself down there (thats how cheap I am). the owner, kelly, was SUPER nice and friendly, but apparently it was my job to hold the skin taut so that she could get in there to take off all the hair. She was getting pretty irritated with me because I was holding it too loose, but I'm not good at holding my skin taut which is why I hire someone to do it for me, which all of my previous waxers had done themselves. After the wax my skin was irritated for nearly a week and pretty raw. The total cost was around $30 which I was thankful for, but probably will not return. Hopefully, looking at other reviews, things have changed, but after all that pain afterwards I don't want to find out... read more

Found Kelly on Living Social and am thrilled that I did. The place I usually go to for a Brazilian charges twice what Kelly charges. Went today and she made me comfortable right away. Kept the conversation going which is nice during a waxing. I also appreciated the fact that you leave your undies on. She explained when she needed me to help pull my skin which I don't mind, anything to speed the process along. She was very fast and I found her to be very professional. Now to address the girls mentioning she said they were not "showered". I cannot believe you put that on Yelp! Put yourself in her position for a moment, would you want to put your hands in someones nether regions that didn't look sparkling clean?! Eeww I give her props for saying something! I found out about Kelly here on yelp.com. I have never gotten a bikini wax, let alone a Brazilian! I called to schedule an appointment with Kelly, and although she seemed nice on the phone, I thought it was strange that she didn't ask me any questions, such as, "Is this your first time?" or "Have you seen me before?" She only asked for my name and what time I wanted to come in. So, I arrived 10 minutes early. She took me right away, and I was impressed. However, that's where my "good" experience stopped. She took one quick glance at my bikini area and said, very bluntly, "I can't wax you." "What do you mean?" "Well, the hair isn't long enough. Haven't you done this before?" "No, I haven't." "Well, I don't know what to tell you. I just can't do it." Now, I had let my hair grow out for about 10 days. If she had ASKED ME OVER THE PHONE how long it had been, this whole thing could have been avoided. It was terribly awkward, and she just shrugged and went to the back room. She didn't apologize, she didn't offer any recommendations or ANYTHING!! I will never go here again. I'm sure Kelly is good at what she does, but she was rude and certainly NOT focused on customer service. read more

Kelly is pretty great at what she does. I am so glad that I tried her out using a groupon. I have become a regular. I will say that she is not as fast as I like and I have found a few stray hairs but nothing major. In regards to the other yelpers making complaints about her questions. She has asked me a couple of times if I showered and I told her yes. She said thank you and we left it at that. I've been here 2x - because it's cheap, but the service is so bad and Kelly was so rude I would not go back if it was free, and the bikini wax was not that good either, a lot of broken hairs left behind, I had to wait a week or two and make the drive down to South OC to go to the girl who used to do my waxes before I moved to Long Beach. This woman has her PHD in waxing. She is gentle, gets all the hair, and plucks the little stray away hairs. Clean and no awkward positions some little scary Russian ladies put you in. I've been to many many places for a Brazilian wax. Honestly, the Body Spa and Salon gives you the best bang for your buck! For $25 (up to $30 for more difficult waxes), Kelly removes your hair quickly and painlessly. I've seen many reviews for 'painless' waxes, and every time I try out a new place, I come out disappointed. I was iffy walking into the Body Spa, but I came out quite pleased! Kelly is the person that does the waxing. The waxing was quick, and there was little discomfort. Most painless Brazilian I have ever had! Kelly does not take tweezers to your skin if there are very short stray hairs. She usually recommends letting it grow out for the next wax. Some people may not like that, so keep that in mind. Her hours are very flexible, and she accepts late appointments (my latest was 7:30pm on a weeknight) and it works great with my hectic work schedule. And most of the time, appointments are available same-day! I moved to LB not too long ago, and I was making the trek to Ruth's Skin Care in Beverly Hills for a $25 Brazilian, until I found Kelly. I found this place through the reviews here. I read them all and thought this one had the best representation for waxing. I got a Brazilian Wax here a few days before my wedding. I was only red for that day. She took her time and made sure I had plenty of breaks in between the (nervous) laughing and the grimacing. It was my first time having it done, and she did a good job. It is such a pain in the ass to shave all the time. Kelly was very professional about it and will put you right at ease. It was about $35 total ($30 + $5 tip) . I've been going to Kelly now for a year, and I love her. She's the only wax lady i've ever had, she took my brazilian wax virginity. After a while her waxes become painless. Getting my eyebrows threaded hurts more to me now! As far as people saying she isn't friendly...they are crazy. She is blunt, and honest so maybe people take that to offense. Today was my first appointment with Kelly and I couldn't be happier with the results. I brought my daughter, who is in jr. high, to get her legs waxed for the first time. She was very nervous about getting it done and Kelly took her time explaining every step while being super-duper sweet and patient. I have many people who waxed me but by far is wonderful. Kelly has been waxing for 35 years and she really knows her stuff. I don't know what she does but she is painless. Another thing that I love she is affordable. When you come back to get another wax and another wax she goes down with the price which is excellent. This is the first time I've gotten a brazillian wax so I don't have much to compare with. Still, my experience with Kelly was 100% good. She didn't make me feel awkward or a "newbie" and got down to business right away. We chatted in between when she would explain what she would be doing step by step. Wow. I had been going to the same waxer for about 10 years but had to cut some corners financially. I couldn't believe how cheap Kelly's prices were. It seemed too good to be true! Razors be gone! Having read all the previous reviews about Kelly, I agree with pretty much everyone on both the good and the bad. It all depends on how you interpret things and what's important to you. Good: Thorough Cheap prices (a little more for first-timers, lower for the regulars) Never a wait Very fast (Brazilian and full back in 30 minutes!) Painless Easy to schedule (she opened early for me one morning) Good skin care products (I don't break out after a wax anymore with the products Kelly uses) Bad: No tweezing, so it's not completely clean (Kelly says not to tweeze, but I do it at home) Somewhat hands-on for clients Little to no tolerance for tardiness. (Kelly will reschedule you if she has to, so the next client won't have to wait.) Kelly is very knowledgeable about skin care and products, and I have followed some of her advice to good results. She doesn't seem to be a warm, fuzzy person, but she's professional and friendly, which is fine by me. I come in for a wax, not a hug. And at her rates, I can come in as often as I need to and not just during the summer. read more

I was impressed by her professionalism, the cute little shop, and most of all, the price. All visits following that one started taking a dive... she missed a spot or two; the wax wasn't completely removed; her disposition seemed to be lukewarm at best; she increased the price if you didn't see her every 6 weeks, etc.... Even during the waxing, there was only the initial shock--no lingering feelings at all.
