When you spend under $200 here, you easily get double what you would have if you had bought at any other vendor, and without the huge selection. They even give you a shopping cart to haul your load around. From the goodies they have, it's pretty easy to load up on a lot. Each time I've come here, they have always given a discount when asked. I went to their website and purchased a grand stand premium ticket that came with a brochure recommended pick for the horses and a dedicated grand stand personal stadium seat. Grand stand and General seating has access to almost all levels, cafes and ground access areas with non reserve tables and bleacher seating. I went down to the pit and was able to "pet" a racing horse! Oh, yes, the betting part. So there are lines when you want to place a bet with a person or multiple machines that accepts cash and one can make selections on the screen. First time for me and I ended up placing 6 more bets after that! I think I am hooked!

What are we doing??? Also, now, kids are in school, so now if I want to have my family enjoy the fair, I have to take leave and pull kids out of school. The amount of piss poor planning this is causing us outrageous. Have you seen how little our service members get paid, let alone the hoops they have to jump through for a day off. Just say military and veterans not welcome at the state fair. Of all the places I have visited in the world, WA is by far and large one of the least friendliest places for military families and it's a shame since it's the 3rd largest concentration of military personnel in the world. Terrible business practices that I will be sharing will all commands in hopes they boycott the fair this year since they want to boycott the military. Do better, be better.

Parking is plentiful and free (though coming from NYC parking looks plentiful almost everywhere in the suburbs), in parking lots along the park driving route curving around the water. There are multiple facilities on the water and off. On and along the water--a boat docking marina, multiple docks, fishing pier, a sandy beach with roped-in swimming area, nature area with info placards describing the surroundings and recent history of the park, and a pier extension with gazebo over the water. On the park grounds--a small water recreational boat storage with canoes, playground, picnic areas with running water and BBQ pits, and aforementioned walking trails. As others have mentioned a fair number of Canada geese and ducks reside in the area so best to follow the advisements posted and NOT feed them unless you want more goose/duck poop than there already is on the park premises. Otherwise lovely park and I would come back for a stroll in warmer months!
