I found the edible plants for a vegetable garden to be much more extensive than Moon Valley Nurseries. So I guess it depends on what you're after exactly. I like that they sell a wider variety of fig plants, and was interested in one of them, but the two plants available didn't look the healthiest. I'm not sure I want to take the gamble on a fig tree that may or may not make it. The healthiest looking plants they had were their citrus trees, again plenty of variety. Still checking out nearby places before making any decisions.

I recently bought a house around the corner and stopped in to purchase plants for the yard, spending about $600. When I got home, I realized I had purchased more than I needed. Within an hour of the purchase, I returned to the store to return just two plants. The cashier was friendly and helpful and attempted to process the refund, but the manager refused and said they would only offer store credit. While I understand businesses have policies, I explained that I felt this was poor customer service given the circumstances -- returning two items within an hour after spending hundreds of dollars. The manager became argumentative and started raising her voice, insisting their policy was "good policy" and repeatedly telling me to have a nice day, essentially pushing me out of the store. It was a surprisingly hostile interaction after I had just spent a significant amount of money there. They argued that they weren't "keeping my money," but effectively they are -- they kept both the product and the cash, while giving me store credit for a place I now have no desire to return to after being treated so poorly. It's disappointing because I just moved into the neighborhood and likely would have shopped there regularly for years. Instead, my first experience was rude and unwelcoming. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won't be returning and cannot recommend this nursery to others.

This week I snagged some guara, hummingbird bush, and a gorgeous pink trumpet vine that's actually not toxic to pets (as most trumpet vines are). The flowers had shown up at my home and they didn't look so great and I knew that I could not let it go. They made it right with no question a week later after that not so great delivery which didn't come from this shop that I am reviewing but from the one in Cave Creek. It showed me that they cared and would do whatever it took for the client to be happy. My daughter was having a small intimate wedding in N. Scottsdale and I knew what she wanted when she had me do her planning. Moreover I do a lot of florals with my career and was very specific in the design and type of florals. I was put in touch with Corinna at the Studio for Cactus Flowers which does bridal florals and when I said I wanted Dusty Miller roses in a barely pink hue and Peonies, she went to work perusing them first from possibly Alaska or Chile and the roses from California. The succulents were linked in from Arizona as that was important considering the event was outside and local. She had them delivered hours before the wedding and they were everything our daughter wanted. We will hire Cactus Flowers again for the larger reception in the Spring and I know again the florals will be gorgeous! Out of all the wedding planning elements, I found the floral arrangements to be the most intimidating, as I don't consider myself particularly creative in that area, and I really didn't have a lot to contribute to the conversation. The only thing I knew I wanted when it came to flowers was for there to be a lot of texture; almost a "messy" look. But I wasn't sure if I was conveying that thought in the best way. However, Cactus Flower Florists made the process seamless and (as is a trend with the vendors I chose for my wedding) they far exceeded anything I pictured in my head. All I had to do was send Corrina and Dani the mood board created by my wedding planner, and they took it from there, transforming my ideas into a breathtaking reality. Every detail was executed perfectly, and the florals and greenery were absolutely stunning. When the staff got onsite, they were a well-oiled machine. The bud vases dispersed throughout the reception area were the simplest, yet perfect touch. The pocket boutonnières for the groomsmen and fathers were perfect, and the corsages for the mothers were flawless. They even added some special personal touches that meant a lot to me - including making the wristlets out of pearls; a nod to my late grandmother. I was so in love with my bouquet that when I sent it off to be pressed and preserved, I felt a little heartbroken to part with such a beautiful piece. Cactus Flower Florists truly captured the essence of my vision and exceeded my expectations in every way.
