I tried to work with Boulder Home Theater company to have a TV installed above our fireplace. They requested I find out more info about the materials of the wall so I reached out to our builder. While I waited to hear back due to the person I needed the info being off, Boulder Home Theater reached out and said "Upon further consideration and review from the owner we are not comfortable putting a recessed box in that location. It's too much of a liability for us the scope of this project mainly for any tile damage and not knowing what's behind--and possible heat-leak up from the fireplace. If this was a normal standard drywall wall setup not above the fireplace, we would have no issues quoting that." This even before I was able to let them know what the materials and wall type were and it's an electric fireplace with the ability to have the heat turned off which I let them know prior to this response. If they can't even wait for my response on the materials or work with me on the install but just say you aren't worth the hassle, well that isn't a company I would want to work with when it comes to installing TV's. They were also priced higher before this then the numerous other companies I received quotes for. This was the second time I used Boulder Home Theater, since the initial wall installation was done perfectly. This visit was to swap out the old plasma tv for a new smart tv. I was also having some reception issues. They arrived on time, mounted the new tv, found the bad HDMI cable causing the pixelation issue and installed a new one in the wall. They checked all the connections and functions, paired my remote. I am very happy with the professional and competent service from this company. Jay did a great job installing an LCD TV on a brick veneer backing over the fireplace. Also installed a Sonos play bar, sub and surround sound speakers in the ceiling. Arrived on time and did the job for the price quoted. Professional installation. Jay is a man of few words but that's not what you are paying him for. Jay did an amazing job setting up our home theater system in our brand new home. He installed our flat screens as well as set up our "technology hub" in a very organized and efficient way. Because of the 2 level configuration of my home, Jay installed a system on each level. The upper level was part of a rehab effort, so he came once to run the wires and later to finish the installation as the rooms were finished. Did a solid job on the install and showed up on time which was important. Be careful for the hidden fees...told me on the phone "worst case scenario" price .....and the total was over that by 100 dollars. The install was very standard ( nothing out of the ordinary) just tv mount and hide wires. The hidden costs are 40 dollars for him to drive to your home! You want me to bring the wall and TV to you? The other hidden cost is $85/hr labor! Are you Kidding me! I understand what "skilled" labor is but come on! A more reasonable approach would be to drop the 40 dollar charge if the customer goes through with the project. After I brought up the high cost as what was quoted, Jay was completely unapologetic and seemed not to care one bit. Can definitely find a less expensive and honest service to hang your TV. The finished product is quality so if 85/ hr labor seems good to you.....this is your guy. read more

Jay and his team are a top-notch crew -- on time, stays within budget, communicative and thorough. Not only did TBHTC install a wireless network and Sonos throughout our new construction, they also helped us select the right TVs and speakers for our needs. On top of that, they also installed an intercom system throughout the entire house that had to be integrated with a front gate locking system (so the front door could be opened from anywhere inside the house.) This was a complicated mechanism and took some doing but Jay and his crew kept trouble-shooting with the various manufacturers (and kept me informed of their progress) until they got it working perfectly. Everything they installed has been working flawlessly these past two years. On top of that, this past year I needed to install firewalls and customize aspects of our wireless network and Jay got everything upgraded and installed within a week. He even gave me some additional monitoring tools so I could keep track of things while away. I couldn't believe it!
