It wasn't completely packed for a Saturday afternoon but staff was really busy with customers. The vibe was one that made us comfortable for the most part. After a few minutes of looking over the menu, we were ready to order. My selection was the Tavern Monte Cristo which consisted of chargrilled chicken and ham as the protein with Gouda cheese and cider aioli fried in a tempura batter with tavern fries. The meal was served hot and ready and tasted great. And having the cranberry coulis as a dipping sauce really added some taste. My only gripe with the sandwich was the amount of protein. I'm not sure if I ate most of it when we dined in, but when I ate the rest for dinner, it was more breading than anything else. Still good but they could've included more. Nonetheless, I was full. Our group was able to snag a table right across the bar with no issues. For the whole night, foot traffic wasn't heavy. For the pub itself, it is a bit dated, but nothing where major updates are needed. They also have a separate section for billards and you can also smoke while enjoying company. All of us did order food while some sang karaoke (I didn't participate). For myself, I selected a fried petals basket which came with their house sauce. It was good enough for me since I ate earlier. The food was very good. Each fried onion was very crispy and their house sauce was a great compliment. I also decided to have one of their house drinks. The fruit bomb which consisted of Three Olives Loopy vodka and Red Bull. The drink was very good. Not too strong and just right. And for you diabetics out there like myself, the vodka is sugar free. The Red Bull does add sweetness to the drink, but your carb intake will be just fine. For a first timer, it was a good experience. A nice staff with some good food and spirts on hand. I mean there was so much rockfish it was over the top of the grilled flour tortilla. The moist blackened fish pieces laid atop spring mix and drizzled with a creamy spicy boom boom sauce. My husband had the Rachel, a turkey sandwich on rye with Russian dressing and coleslaw, it came with french fries that seemed to have a bit of a coating that made them very crunchy. I had the salted watermelon margarita and I'm still thinking about it. The ingredients were well balanced. The food was really good. The burger was juicy. We politely told her she was a service dog and she had a vest. Conversation then progressed to "even service dogs" (ADA VIOLATION!). I tried to educate her of what she was allowed to ask. Attitude was given instead and how shed have to call the owner. We could hear the convo the phone was so loud - owner did not want us there. We were asked again, what tasks my dog performed (I had already done this when provising her education about what she was allowed to ask freely). I repeated myself and I quote "so not an emotional support dog" - no. Then told me to not catch an attitude with her. My husband, probably one of the nicest southern man on the planet, said "lets leave this isnt acceptable" - very much discrimination against disabilities. I will be filing a complaint with BBB and ADA. I understand completely asking about tasks, perfectly legal. Following up with "so not an esa?" is uncalled for as was the gaslighting. Ownership needs to be better informed about legalities and make sure their staff is trained My service dog the entire time, quiet and you'd never know she was there.

The two of us hardly travel to Poquoson, but drove to the area to check out another place for dessert. Let's see how this visit turned out. We were greeted by the staff when we walked inside. They had a lot of customers for lunch and were busy serving them at tables and the bar area. The decor was well kept and spotless. You can tell they take really good care of the business. After a few minutes lookimg over the menu, we were ready to order. I selected the Pork Belly Cuban sandwich which came with their homemade chips. It was a really good lunch. Both the pork belly and sliced ham were cooked very well and plenty. I forgot what sauce they included (I believe it was chimichurri) really elevated the flavor in my opinion. And there was enough chips as a side which were crunchy and full. Sophia ordered a chili dog which she enjoyed. 1631 had us full for lunch. We'll be sure to stop by the next time we're in town.
