I moved into The Bower in June, and while the apartments and amenities will draw you in don't be fooled by the potpourri.
The parking situation was almost a deal breaker for me, but I loved everything else (well mostly...) about the place.
Turns out the parking stackers are a deal breaker, and an actual nightmare. In fact, it became a nightmare for residents when their car literally fell from the top level of one of the stackers last week (there were witnesses) and management has not acknowledged what actually happened and is skirting around things. They've announced ongoing repairs that are now causing all the machines to be shut down for an unknown period of time!
I mean, first of all, thank goodness no one was in the stacker when the car fell! But no joke the cables literally went loose and the car dropped from the top stack. This is just the latest incident. Just within the last month alone the machines have been down for "repairs" and "maintenance" intermittently for more days than not! And the management team, though very kind people, were the worst at communicating properly. Now their communication is happening, but infuriating and just plain insulting. We're not morons.
This entire parking issue is impacting every aspect of my life professionally and personally. My job, my child, and school and activity schedules, getting to my doctors appointments and other commitments. They say they'll reimburse for 2 Uber/Lyft per person per day. I don't care. That isn't helpful, and it is not a replacement for our sanity nor our ability to drive our cars where we need to go in a timely manner. It does not cover my ability to do my job properly or get my child to school or practices with all the stuff I usually keep in my car, and do so on time. Is it too much to ask to be at peace living here?
And this is just the resident parking. Forget trying to have visitors over or finding your own street parking. And now all the residents get to fight for the zero parking spots on the side streets since our machines are down for who knows how long.
I emailed management weeks ago, btw, after the first couple times the machines went down, asking how long the work was going to continue, the long term plan to mitigate these issues and asked about being compensated because the parking spot is part of the lease agreement and rent we pay monthly. I asked that they get back to me. NO response. Flat out ignored my email, even though they are always responsive. Oh but they'll call me to ask if I want a second spot that's opened up for more $$$. Really tactful.
I see this entire issue as a huge safety and well being issue and as more than fair grounds to break leases given the concerns and The Bower/Prometheus not holding up their end of the agreement. I'm paying rent inclusive of a parking spot.
Also, there are so many rules around where to park and where not to and when there is no resident parking available. They send emails saying don't park there or don't park here, we'll tow you, etc when I have actually seen the management team's cars parked in those very spots. It's so hypocritical.
Anyway - avoid this place. Unless you are basically car and commitment free and just want to stay inside and enjoy the view and enjoy the amenities. read more
