I love this hidden jewel...My son and I have been there 4 times (High School, Musical, Young Frankenstein, Clue, and the SpongeBob Musical). All of them have been magical memory makers!!!! I love that it's an Old Vaudeville Theatre it's nostalgic vibes are high and super authentic. I'm so grateful for it! It's like a broadway theatre located in the cute little throw back area of down town Putnam. There's a comic book store, a REAL coffee shop with a side room for lovers of all classic games. And a couple FREE arcade games. It's like nostalgia, nostalgia, and more nostalgia. The whole experience is a great day leaving absolutely nothing desired. I love enriching my sons life at this clean, friendly, antique, local theatre! I also love the sign that says "Life is a stage" or something to that effect. As I said I am very grateful for this place. It's honestly better than Broadway. The streets are clean, the price is super reasonable, it's super easy to get to and the theatre experience is just as authentic. Almost more so because it's so glamorously antique. The Bradley Playhouse just put on "A White Christmas". The actors are very talented and performed many songs and danced to the lovely tunes that the orchestra played. The scenery was simple but delightful. There was commedy and frivolity amongst the various acts. I went to the last show. If I had a chance I would see it again. That is how much I enjoyed the show. Putnam is already a gem of a town. Tiny businesses, neat restaurants oh and lots of theater. I've been to many performances at the Bradley because my in-laws are steeped in the Quiet Corner arts scene. The Bradley perfectly adds to the charm of Putnam. I just read some of the other reviews and see that they're a few years old. I believe that the Bradley did renovate with new chairs since those were posted. (they look spiffy) The lobby is super tiny (unfortunately) because there's always a long line for candy and other refreshments. I'm not sure that the layout could be changed in an old theater so, just roll with it. There's a balcony, which come on, is still way cool in my book, and you can see very well from every seat. The sound is also pretty good too. I've seen large shows like Nunsense to review-type shows where you can perfectly hear a mic-ed singer/songwriter with a guitar. I sat in the front row of the balcony recently and though I'm only 5'4", there was zero possibility of stretching out my legs. I rallied for 2+ hours but anything longer than that (again, in the front of the balcony) would be tough. One plus I'd like to add, there's 4 stalls in the ladies room. You'd almost expect 1 per restroom but I was happy that I could pop in during a brief intermission, not wait in a line and get back to my seat before the second act began. read more

The Bradley Playhouse (also known as TNECT, Theater of Northeastern CT) is a community theater run in a spectacular vintage Vaudeville playhouse. Complete with an old-fashioned glowing lights sign, mezzanine and gilded banisters, the theater is reminiscent of the large theaters you might find in Boston or New York City... except much smaller. The theater has undergone significant renovations and improvements in recent years. TNECT puts on several performances every year- both plays and musicals. The prices are reasonable and commensurate with the shows. They range from about $12-$18. Although you won't find Broadway quality spectacles here, the actors and volunteers work very hard to make every show special and fun. Bradley shows are usually on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Their website lists the season schedule and pricing. If you're in the area and looking for something to do on a weekend evening, try the Bradley... and during the intermission check out the fantastic coffee house next door- Victoria Station Cafe. The Bradley Playhouse in NE CT has given us many enjoyable experiences over the years, and their recent production of "White Christmas" is a shining example. The play itself contains wonderful songs, sung beautifully (often while dancing or tapping) and accompanied by a full orchestra (fascinating how many of its members are multi-instrumentalists). How did they get so many talented people together in one place? We enjoyed it so much we went back for a second time. It is a small theatre and all of the seats are good. We recently went to see A Christmas Carol here. I think that if you know what you are getting (small theatre, older theatre) you wll enjoy the show. The actors were wonderful and for what we paid ($19) we felt that was very reasonable. We were very impressed with the quality of the acting and costumes and would recommend everyone enjoy a show here! read more

This place is ok if you want to go see a play that is not too long.. the seats are very uncomfortable and the place itself to make a long story short is kind of a dump and is in serious need of renovations... the plays there however are great and the sound there is pretty decent.. read more

What a tremendous community theater! I've seen so many beautiful dramas and toe-tapping musicals in this great venue. You can't beat a night out at the Bradley! This year's performance of Almost, Maine was touching and heartfelt. Last year's Little Mermaid was visually stunning. Some great shows that I can't wait to see later this year (Music Man, A Christmas Story). Be sure to check the schedule, however, as this theater does their own shows (which are fantastic!), but also allows a local "dance" company to do two shows there each year. The shows produced by the Bradley Playhouse are wonderful, but the two shows done each year by the Complex Performing Arts Center are always overpriced and lack any semblance of preparation or detail. Complex shows are only suited for the parents and grandparents of the kids who perform in them. Last year's Nutcracker was a mess (not the fault of the kids)! read more

I always held the Bradley in pretty decent regard until this latest fiasco. My wife and three of her friends all took their daughters to see Pinkalicious. Each parent bought two seats. When they arrived at the theater, they learned that each daughter would have to sit on their parent's lap because the show was oversold. Not the parent's fault, but the theater's fault. Nothing was done or said by the theater to make up for this fiasco. Unfortunately, they will never see one penny more of our money. It's too bad because the play was decent according to my wife. read more

Cute old theatre. Recently went to see A Christmas Carol. Its a small place, so every seat in the house has a good view. We sat a few rows from the stage at the highest ticket price of $19. The seats are small and pretty jammed together, so a little discomfort there with refreshments and winter coats to deal with. Offered beer ($6) and wine ($8), and a few concession snacks. Actors did a great job and costumes were quite impressive. Would go back. read more

Although the Bradley Playhouse could surely use some TLC, it is fantastic. It is old, but things cost money in order to fix which just doesn't seem to be there. My boyfriend and I went this past weekend and saw the "Witness for the Persecution" play. Neither of us are play people but were looking for something new and different. It was great!! I loved every minute of it. There was so much talent and it was such a great experience. We will definitely be returning very soon!! They have snacks and beverages everything from soda to wine to popcorn and candy, the best part is it's all reasonably priced. Enjoy!! read more
