We had Dot as a teacher and she was so bubbly and had us very excited to make the pottery. I loved how Dot gave us all one on one attention and really let us do our own bowls and mugs. I love the way she taught us and helped us along the way. It's hard to do, but also very fun and I love making something of my own. Such a great experience and I can't wait to go back and make more!!

If I could give the Bradley 10 stars, it still wouldnt be enough. My dad and I went to a play a couple of years ago after my mom was not able to go with my dad. The play was incredible, funny, and the seats were great too. What started out as a fun night with my dad, turned into a whole crazy adventure that ended with my husband and I getting married at the Bradley. I had secured a location for our wedding and at a fairly last minute, we were told that they would not be able to do our wedding their because they were double booked and we were out of luck. So we tried several other places in the area (Putnam, Woodstock area), and we were sadly let down that nothing was close to what we had envisioned. I had decided that the Roseland Cottage would be perfect and they had the date open. Come to find out, they wouldnt let us have that date because they were staking the yard for the Columbus weekend that year and they couldn't start later than 8 am (that's a whole other review in itself). Desperate for ideas, and ready to take a lesser venue, my mom came up with the idea of looking right in downtown Putnam (and even possibly just doing an outdoor wedding in town) and we landed on talking to the Bradley. It was perfect and couldn't have turned out better. Monique helped us with every step of the way, and she said that they had never done a wedding and what a unique idea and place it would be. The day we arrived was perfect because in addition to all the help the staff gave us setting up, the stage was set for their play that evening and we got to use the stage set up for the backdrop! They even let us take some of our wedding pictures on the stage with the décor. It was all rounded out with getting to see that night's play as a courtesy from the staff. All in all, I cant say enough about the Bradley. A beautiful, old worldly theatre set in a quaint section of Putnam, with free parking, great plays, and shops to accentuate the towns appeal, the Bradley is a MUST SEE place for a play or even just to see something uniquely beautiful on your way through. read more

I love love love Live Bait…read more Live Bait is "True Stories" from real people. (How real they are depends on how truthful the storyteller is...) It's unscripted, no notes, just you and a room full of 30+ Friends and strangers who had the go-nads to put their name in the fish bowl to tell a tale on the first friday of each month. There is a set theme monthly which each persons story should loosely tie into. One of my favorite themes as of late was "One Last Thing". Hearing the stories of life experiences of total strangers is similar to having a view into a small window of the participants life. For $7 It's cheaper than a movie and very entertaining. I've been to a handful of Live Bait performances but have yet to muster up the courage to get up and tell a story myself.... Maybe next time i'll bring over some liquid courage from AS220 to help me get the courage to go up. Be warned all of the hipster kids from AS220 hang out front of the theater smoking like chimneys. So, if you're not a fan of the cigs (like me...) keep your distance after purchasing your tix.

Perishable Theatre is an incredible demonstration of what happens when sheer will, passion for the…read morearts, dirty hard work, and a rare genetic disease intersect (for reals! See below). The shows are great (and getting better!), they have a slew of weekly events (improv! dance dance party party!), they offer affordable classes (playwriting! acting! belly dance!), AND they are a centrally-located studio rehearsal option for other performing artists. Jingle Belles and a Few Balls, their yearly fundraiser, is a well-cherished holiday tradition in Providence: a burlesque-heavy variety spectacular with a kooky theme - what else can get you in the holiday spirit but some breasts donning glittery Santa Claus pasties? Their tagline is 'Rhode Island's Research & Development Theatre' because they are one of the only theatres in Rhode Island that present original works from nation-wide sources. That's awesome, AND I think this label often gets them unfairly dismissed as a playground for the avant-garde theatre set. Although they do a fair share of experimental stuff, I have seen some incredible, super-audience friendly performances at Perishable. I've been attending shows at the theatre for the past five years, and the quality of performances increases steadily with each season. 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch', performed this past April, was seriously some of the best theatre that I have seen in Providence. The theatre is a black box with handicap access, tickets are affordable to the masses, the bathrooms are clean and spacious (there's two one-at-a-timers), and you can bring in drinks from the AS220 bar next door (bonus!). Free parking can be a pain if it's a busy night downtown, but parking behind the library is usually a good, free bet on any night of the week. The staff of the theatre is small, but VERY dedicated and includes Amy Lynn Budd - director of the theatre arts school and momma of the burlesque scene in PVD. As part of Perishable's season, Amy Lynn is presently working on the third iteration of her biographical play called 'The Thing That Ate My Brain....Almost', a wacky Ed Wood-esque horror flick/comedy detailing her experiences living with a rare and nearly-fatal genetic illness called VHL. Amy Lynn's play is a great example of the kind of the bizarrely gripping tales of humanity you'll see onstage at Perishable. From such a small budget and rather limited space comes some really well-done theatre. I would caution more conservative patrons to do some reading about a show before you attend - there is no denying that some of their work can be, well....weirder than your average community theatre. If you're looking for safe, stick to PPAC. If you're down for a little theatrics - get to Perishable!

Very unprofessional since day 1…read more We had an appointment to check the place out and the owner nabely did not pay us much attention because she was "busy", and she did this at every appointment but we decided to go with the place because it was beautiful and had everything we needed. So we thought. we Went with the smallest package because I wanted to decorate myself. she said " your wedding is destined to fail" because I didn't wanna pay the extra $4000 just for her to decorate?? she said the oven came with the hall Then days before my wedding she told me the racks in the oven were gone because someone else rented them. So we had to Buy some. months before the wedding I told her in great description what tables i Wanted to use and how I want them set up. Day of the wedding comes along and she has the completely wrong tables out which messes up my whole seating chart so I had to have my family run around and move all the tables around, decorate and coordinate with the caterer. Thankfully they got it all done in time. Some things were messed up because they didn't have enough time due to the tables. my bridesmaid had to get dressed in the bridal sweet because she was nice enough to help set Up and the bridal sweet had a window wide open and Everyone could see her dressing if they walked by. ??? day of coordinator/owner Jason was on point the whole wedding made sure I had what I needed but at the end of the night when my family was done cleaning up he said " okay now get the fuck out my building". i would not recommend this place to my worse enemy.

The space is very versatile as it can be rigged for a number of situations for different shows and plays. The interior is large and spacious and the outside is pretty majestic. I've seen a few shows here that truly used the space provided to the fullest. If you see a show here, you're probably going to have a good time. Especially since there are good restaurants and bars nearby.

Currently I think of Pawtucket as "the place where Slater Mill and the DMV and Kafe Lila and Machines With Magnets are," but if I spend enough time at KL and MWM, my view will undoubtedly become more nuanced. Machines With Magnets is a recording studio, art gallery, and performance space that has fast become my favorite music venue and possibly one of my favorite places in Rhode Island. The inside is beautiful, with two large rooms decked out in cool white paint and beautiful hardwood flooring (one floor is stenciled with an absolutely stunning pattern). Art of varied quality adorns the walls. I have now had the pleasure of attending two shows here--an electronic music performance and Quintron + Miss Pussycat--and I enjoyed them both. Watching bands perform with art as a backdrop is a pleasure. The sound is good and the venue is run fairly efficiently. At the latter show, they quickly cycled through four bands by alternating the rooms in which each band performed. Very smart. The crowds are fun and interesting. Drinks, Dunkin' Donuts coffee, and even pizza are sold for reasonable prices. During my first visit, a friend turned to me and said, "I wish I lived here." "I wish I could DJ here," I replied. Until either of these things happens, I'll be stopping in periodically for more music and art. You should, too.

I loved my years at Diane's School of Dance. I danced here for fourteen years and truly loved it…read morethere. Diane's shows are very professional and it's clear how much hard work goes into them. I find that a lot of studios in the area are not nearly as polished as this studios. All the costumes are gorgeous and eye catching. The songs always fit the age group and the dances are to skill level. During her shows she keeps dancers backstage with volunteers and parents rotate who stays backstage. I've seen other studios were dancers come back and forth from the audience between dances which is just poorly planned. Diane really puts on a show she makes all of the backdrops by hand and with a different theme each year. She also does fun finale number with all the dancers where everyone is together! The best part about dancing at Diane's is the family feel. All of the girls get so close over the years and with parent volunteers you know people are committed to the studio. I still go back and help at shows and I left the studio 6 years ago to go to college. I loved Diane's School of Dance and hope for many more girls to enjoy their time there over the years!

I can't imagine dance classes in the space. It is fairly small with very low ceilings and the floor is just a tile. Not a dance floor. My girls have been dancing long enough for me to know this isn't safe flooring to dance on. I was very concerned for injury. Needless to say we found another studio in the area that did have the proper ceiling height, proper dance floor and is a good size to learn in. I would have to recommend against sending anyone to dance on that floor. Just look at the space and environment your child before going on what seems a popular choice. I am surprised that with the supposed "popularity" it supposedly has that they haven't invested into a better facility for their students.
