I will only go to Fatou & her Family for my braids. I get compliments ALL THE TIME! I have had two people say "those are the best braids I have ever seen!" I am mixed so I have finer hair. I have not worn braids in over 4 years due to the fact that every hair braider I would come across didn't care about the health of your hair and edges ! I came across the Braiding Factory on IG and wanted my hair braided for my baby shower. I was pleased to have my hair braided by Fatou, she did an incredible job ! She not only cared about my hair but also my scalp and made sure it was moisturized. She don't braid tight and my hair came out very neat. I've received so many compliments. I've noticed bad reviews on here but honestly I would 10/10 recommend Fatou and her family the environment was great and and beyond professional ! My personal experience was not worth the money paid for the box braids I got. She's a good braider but clearly they won't last long. I got my braids on a Wednesday and by Saturday my real hair started to unravel. I sent her pictures and she asked if I was available that evening to come in so she could fix it but I wasn't. She said she didn't clean them well (I don't know what that means). I told her I would be back in Dallas on Sunday and was available anytime after then. I got no response back until Tuesday asking if I could come in anytime on Friday because she was going to be in the shop all day. I told her yes I was open all day. No response of any kind after then. So on Friday I decided to go to her shop around 10AM and no one was there. Whoever sees these pictures can be the judge on the quality of the work done. I wish i could give this unprofessional woman 0 stars. I had an appointment set at 10am she text me 15 min before and says she is running late and to let's meet at 11:30( i was already on the way). 11:16 hits i go back out head her way and i get a text saying she has to cancel my appointment. I told her this was for my bday and needed to get in, she then says ok let's do 5pm forsure i tell her ok and to next time give me an hour notice if Something happens. An hour later she text saying she can't do it that i can come in the next day. I told her to refund me my deposit, and that i had already taken off work missed money and burned unnecessary gas going to her business 2 times only to be turned around. Unprofessional. I called to ask about availability and I was answered by the owner. She was very blunt and asked what I wanted , as I began to explain she cut me off and started a conversation with someone else loudly on the phone I paused and waited. I figured maybe I caught her a bad time. Fine. I was told to send a picture of my natural hair and she would let me know. I sent the pictures and I never heard back. She didn't even have the decency to say no or let me know if she was all booked or anything. Overall I was left with the impression that she doesn't care about her clients or attention to detail. I read all the negative reviews on here initially but chalked it up to the occasional disgruntled client (you can't please everyone) but after that initial conversation I was left with the impression that all the negative reviews are probably very true and more common than the positives. I arrived at an apartment instead of a commercial property. They are running a hair business out of an apartment. Upon arrival I waited two hours after my appointment before my hair was done. A few days later I notice my braids were not even in the front. I sent pictures and videos. I was told someone would call me but I never received a callback. Reached out again just to be told,yes I got the pictures and video and your braids look fine. Which is not true the braids can only be styled one way. Not worth your money. Not worth your time. Let's talk about the worst and most unprofessional experience I've had with Fatou. I have come to her for about 2 years and each time I've had an appt, she has called last minute to either push the time back or or come earlier when I've been en route. I was supposed to have an appt in May but I needed to reschedule. I texted her a couple days before asking pricing, being that the specials and website are not clear. She didn't respond to me, but was making posts on IG. As soon as I cancelled my appt she called me a few hrs later and said "you need to tell me when you can come, you can't leave me open like that"....so you rush me to give you a new day/time but it takes days and multiple texts for you to get back to me when I reach out to you? Ok. So SHE gives me a new day/time exactly a month out from the original appt (6/6). I think everything is set. THE NIGHT BEFORE I'm supposed to leave to drive to Dallas (I travel 2+ hrs and she knows this) she calls and says if I can push the appt to the next day, after I already received a confirmation text the same day reminding me of the appt. and my hotel was already booked. Her first excuse was "it's gonna be a busy day".....well it should be bc you're supposed to be doing my hair! I say no I can't move my appt. She says ok let me see what I can do any call you back. An hr later I call her and ask her if I'm still good to come, and she said no and her excuse was bc she was tired....excuse me? How inconvenient. Terrible customer service, doesn't give you enough notice, wants you to accommodate her but doesn't want to accommodate you, and has the nerve to have 100+ rules about you being on time, how your hair should be and overcharge but can't even communicate properly or abide by appts she sets and confirms. Refunded me my deposit and had a nonchalant attitude for the whole conversation. Not even an apology. Don't waste your time or money with her. I guarantee you'll find some else that will give you the same respect you give them with a better experience and better prices. I really wish something other than 1 star was available. I advise anyone to take all previous reviews as the truth and DO NOT waste your time nor money with this business. I booked with this business almost 2 months prior to my appointment date. I was requested to make a larger than usual deposit via zelle, which I obliged. The night before prepped my hair as requested. At 4am the day of my appointment, I received a text from the owner, Fatou asking if I could show up later than my original appointment time. My original appointment time was 10am and I was requested to show up at Noon. Sure things happen, no problem. I drove from Ovilla to Carrollton more than 45 mins away, to buy hair from the Beauty Supply that Fatou requested. On the way to purchase hair, I texted Fatou the style and color I wanted and she replied back with the colors I should buy and the number of bags of hair to purchase. Once I got to the beauty supply, I tried to text Fatou and call her, she did not answer. I paid $40 for braiding hair and made my way to the salon. I waited in my car until 12pm and finally went inside of the salon. I waited there for 20 minutes calling and texting Fatou and she never responded. Finally Fatou texted back and said "walking in". Finally a young lady allowed me into the suite, I asked if she was Fatou and she told me no but that Fatou was on her way. Sat until 1:07pm, an hour an 7 minutes and still no Fatou. I finally left with my hair in an afro. I texted Fatou requesting a refund which she did promptly. She texted "we do apologized for any inconvenience we may have cash you today." Incorrect, Empty, and Unempathetic. I will never patronize this women ever again, she didn't even have the decency to call me to apologize. I am a business owner and will make sure I continue to share my story just as others so that none of my colleagues or clients will ever book with this company. read more

Zero stars!!! I only gave one star because I couldn't submit the review without it. If you value your time, don't go to these ppl. My initial appointment was at 2:30. 10 minutes before my appointment time, I get a text asking if I could come at 5:00 (I was almost there). I went back at 5. They're braiding out of an apartment, so it was difficult to find a parking space. I get there at 5 and I was told it will take an hour and a half to "prep" the hair. Fatou was the one who was supposed to braid my hair and she was not there so I believe I was told this to stall. I've had my hair braided numerous occasions and it's never taken 1 1/2 hours to prep the hair. About 45 minutes of waiting, Fatou calls one of the other girls and has them ask me if I wanted knotless braids. I responded no because I booked box braids. Fatou finally arrived at 6:30. I took my hat off and she tells me my hair is too short (at the back) for medium sized braids. She told me I would have to get small braids which would take 12 hours. I told her I've had medium braids before and she said she can't braid it. Then she goes to say the small braids would be an extra $125 on top of what I was paying her. I told her she is very unprofessional, one for texting me 10 mins before my appointment time asking me to come later and making me wait an hour and a half to tell me I couldn't get the braids I wanted. The back of my hair is two inches and the top is 4 or more. She kept saying I should've told her my hair was short and I should've booked an earlier appointment. Again, I've been to many braiding shops and has NEVER been told my hair is too short. She did not apologize and as I walked out the door upset I could hear them laughing. Very unprofessional and my advice would be to not waste your valuable time. Go to another braiding shop that can grip hair and will be happy to have your business. read more

my stylist was mimi the shop owner. i went in for passion twist waist length ($300 plus the hair was $60) She began twisting my hair without teasing the hair first even though I showed her pictures & sent her a YouTube video on how to do the style i wanted... literally within hours after leaving the shop i had lost 5-7 twists they literally were falling out all over the place.. i went back the next day she was happy to fix the ones that fell out she started the twist off differently but still did not tease the hair so of course the hair continued to fall out all over the place. we talked and agreed i could come in next week for box braids. mind you i originally paid for waist length braids. she decided she wanted to do the crochet box braids. i was okay with this and stated over the phone i wanted the perimeter to be individual box braids and crochet the middle because i didn't want to sit there all day again. i get there and she only does individuals around the front of my head. i asked was she going to continue around the back and she replied "dont cheat me" (as if im not being the one cheated after spending $360 on twist that fell out within a week and then coming back in to pay $100 for box braids and additional $98 for more braiding hair and the box braids are bra strap length not waist length like the original hairstyle). i let her continue with only doing the front individual and the back crochet because at this point im just over it. now 3 days later the foundation to the crochet braids is coming down in the back!! That now brings my total to $560 for braids that cant even stay up 3 days!!! im pissed and will not be reaching out to them for a refund or anything else for that matter i will take this as a lesson learned. blessings read more
