Great pub, Great pint, Great atmosphere,
The Brendan Behan gains it name from one of Ireland's best writers. Brendan Behan himself was born in the area. Brendan's quotes on the wall and the surrounding of the bar not only add character to the pub but also serve as a conversation starter.
I entered the Brendan Behan on a Monday night just before the match between Chelsea and West-Ham. The pub was busy and the Juke box was playing some great tunes. The locals were playing pool. It was a pleasant surprise to walk into a pub in Dublin and see the bar staff out chatting to the locals. This did not stop one of the bar staff acknowledging my presence and I was promptly served. It is good to note that the art of a good pint of Guinness is still alive and well and at €4 a pint it helps you enjoy it a little bit more. Great value I thought to myself. The pub was buzzing with local chatter and be honest the match I went to see faded into the back ground as I enjoyed a good conversation with the bar staff and locals alike. One quote really stood for me " I only drink on two occasions, when I am thirsty and when I'm not" Well I only drink on the odd occasion. I will be heading back to the Brendan Behan. The bar staff advised I should drop up on a match day and given the proximity to Croke park I am sure it will soon become the must visit pub for all the stadium visitors. I highly recommend dropping in and sampling a good pint in a great local pub. read more
