    The Price is Right

This place has been here since the dawn of time. The town grew up around it. The town has changed over the years. When I started coming here, there was a single-wide trailer with hand painted "Post Office" but that has been hauled off. The Brick is the hub of activity for Jonesville. The food is OK. It's cheap and fast. Putting grilled onions on top of the cheeseburger is as fancy as it gets. You won't even get a plate. I once heard a customer ask what kind of beer they have and the answer was, "Both kinds. Bud Light and Miller Lite." What makes this place is that it is the social hub of a small town. Nobody is a stranger. Be sure to come between 11 and noon. The Price is Right is on and the energy supporting the contestants will rival any off track betting parlor at post time.

When you need a break from the same old,- same old, take 65 a little south of Columbus and head to the brick. There is absolutely nothing fancy about this place but that's what makes it worth the drive. The Brick is famous for 1. Cheeseburgers 2. Chili 3. Cold Beer but they should add a 4 with Superior Hospitality! Some might say "dive bar" and everyone is entitled to their opinion but I would call this bar, that has been there for over 120 years according to the staff, "comfortably rustic". This is the only place I know that the house burger is basically an "Oklahoma Onion Burger " in all its glory. The chili was well above average and the. Wet is ice cold and inexpensive. Do yourself a favor...

I've heard about this place for years and finally made it there today. For anyone that's ever had fried onion burgers in Oklahoma you'll know what I mean when I say the burger I had was on point. I had the double deluxe with fried onions and it was amazing. Highly recommended.

Food is good, but BEWARE, don't bring your kids. You have to be 21 to enter this burger joint. I guess because they sell beer????????

She took the time to let us know about the history, the quality of the local-sourced food, her personal recommendations for beer and food. She was exactly what we love about trying a new brewery and sitting at the bar. She let us try a few samples and we found some pretty good brews. These are lighter than our personal preference in craft brews, but they were delicious. The food was amazing. My husband had the burger and I had the Caesar salad. Very good!!!! The overall vibe of the brewery combines elements of history with the pride of keeping things fresh and modern. It's a really nice balance. The brewery is situated right on the river and once the boardwalk and construction is done, it's going to be beautiful!!!! It's still beautiful and the construction didn't affect us at all, but it's an exciting project that Sally told us about. Highly recommend stopping here for some food and drinks. We loved it and heard the brunch is the best around.

The building sits on the banks of Driftwood River (now called East Fork White River) and offers spectacular views of the famous Robert N. Stewart Bridge in Columbus, Indiana. Upland Brewing Company is a local brewery that started in Bloomington, Indiana in 1998. Now, they have a number of popular restaurants/pubs across Indiana. The building, built in 1871, served as the Pump House supplying water to the city of Columbus, Indiana. The Pump House faced financial, water and quality challenges over the years, but was instrumental in industrial growth of the city. The Pump House operated until 1950, when the city moved to well water. The Pump House served a number of businesses and organizations since 1950. Upland opened the pub in 2016. We were greeted and promptly seated in the bar when we entered. Our server/bartender, Jess, was attentive and friendly. Several other servers also engaged with us, as well. One brought me a fascinating pamphlet describing the history of the building because I was curious. We arrived in time to sample their 3:00 - 5:00 pm Happy Hour. (I love a good Happy Hour.) We ordered Dragonfly IPAs, which went down smooth on a hot summer day. We also enjoyed a couple of sliders from the Happy Hour menu. The Bad Elmer's Fav burger was good with lots of bacon but my favorite was the Hoosier Tenderloin. I should note that much of the food is locally sourced. The building has a large dining room, bar, private dining, private event room, and a fabulous patio with river views. The landscaping is gorgeous. Their signature beers are available for purchase to go along with the logo shirt and a few other logo items. I highly recommend a visit. The food and beer are first class. The setting is lovely and service is attentive.

Featured in the article was Miller's tenderloins. I say tenderloins plural, because they have 2 sizes. What they call a regular and a large tenderloin. Our friend ordered the large tenderloin $14.99. It comes a la carte BUT, the Tenderloin was huge. Now I bet some of you are thinking it couldn't be that big! Well I ordered the regular Tenderloin ($10.99) and it was enough for two people. The large was easily 3 times, if not more, than the size of mine. Our friend guessed the weight of the large one at 3 pounds or more. Additinally, the tenderloins are not paper thin. They are quite thick and meaty. Both wives got the whitefish sandwiches. We all had one common complaint. The batter on both the Tenderloin and fish were tasty, but too salty for our liking. I should mention we ordered fried green tomatoes and fried mushrooms for appetizers. We all really enjoyed both. Eventhough this establishment is a Tavern, they only have like four draft beer taps. However, they offer a nice list of bottles and cans, with some craft beers. They have an open flame grill for burgers and steaks which makes for a pretty good aroma inside if your a carnivore. Next trip I'm getting a Burger! Service was friendly and accommodating.

They had the door open, which was letting in the fresh almost-spring air.) Drinks are pretty much all they have at Snug, to be honest. Don't visit thinking you're going to find a meal, because they don't have a lot of food beyond locally made hand pies and empanadas, a grazing board, and something called Snug Nuts. (Which brings to mind certain ... images.) I didn't get any food, just a Road & Coke, which is a whiskey with a Coke and lime, similar to a Cuba libre, although a Cuba uses rum. It was delicious, but a little light on the booze. It was only $5 and change, though, so it's kind of like what do you expect, really. It was a nice drink to sip slowly while I sat in the small, cozy bar. Speaking of bar aesthetics: Snug lives up to its name. It's tiny and dark but inviting. It feels like stepping into a hug. A hug that can also provide you with copious amounts of Irish whiskey, which sounds like the best kind of hug, to me.
