The Taproom bar has a cozy historic, small town feel. We sat up at the bar. The bartender, our server, was friendly and attentive. She checked on us several times. Food comes out super quick. The fish taco and crawfish taco were excellent with a spicy kick from either the aioli or pickled onions. The cod tasted fresh and I liked the breading. I'd order these again, hands down. My husband had his hand breaded tenderloin with fries. He loved the brioche roll and the generous pork patty was tender. He would have liked a bit of seasoning in the breading. My first time in Madison Indiana and I'm in love with this town. Charming is an understatement. We had so much fun in the short time we were there. I don't believe I've enjoyed walking, especially in the cold, down streets oohing and aahing over the beautiful homes, businesses and atmosphere. I can't believe I've never been. So we walked down Main Street and stopped at Off Broadway Tavern for some bites. There was a wonderful musician playing outside which I absolutely loved. Nothing like being serenaded and getting your belly full. The atmosphere is fun and homey. The staff was helpful and amazing. We ordered the hummus plate for an appetizer, The Wrangler Burger and a Sweet Potato Taco. The hummus was delicious and it was fresh!!!! Served with small pita chips that were the bomb!!!! I couldn't shove them in my piehole fast enough. Also served with carrots, celery and cucumber. The Wrangler Burger was delish as well. Flavorful burger with cheddar cheese, bacon, green, tomato, chipotle bbq aioli and the sprinkles on the cake....Fries Jalapeños. Yummy! Now before you say omg a Sweet Potato Taco....let me tell you this was THE BEST most flavorful sweet potato taco that I've ever had in my life I hate every bit of it. The taproom was very much a bar with bar food. The green fried tomatoes were deliciously fried and the salad I ordered was huge. The bartender was busy on a Wednesday night so there wasn't a lot of interaction, but there was just enough seats for us to sit at the bar. The restaurant was small but not claustrophobic. This is such a neat establishment, looks like an old saloon inside. They have a lot of great beers on tap from local breweries both from Indiana and Kentucky. Stoped in for lunch on 7/17/25 after a visit to the Falls. This place was hopping for a Thursday lunch but got seats at the bar as soon as we walked in. Service was AMAZING considering how busy they were. The decor was really cool with a mix of music murals and regatta memorabilia. The food was incredible. That was one of the BEST Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches I've ever had and my wife's tacos looked amazing as well. Stopped in Off Broadway Taproom on a rainy day to get a little lunch. They were pretty busy at noon on Saturday. My hubby had the Wee Mac in a can for his drink and I chose a Coke. They waited on us pretty quickly and checked on us a couple of time during the meal. I ordered fried green tomatoes and the Philly cheesesteak sandwich, the hubby ordered wings with two different sauces. I chose the house-made chips for my side with the Philly. This is a local bar catering to locals. We took a weekend trip to Madison, IN. This bar was recommended to grab a bite to eat. First impression was good when we walked in. There are about 9 tables along the wall and only one table available at the end. Everyone looked at us when we walked in and the conversations got louder. We sat down and staff walked by us several times not even glancing our way or offering service. I asked for menus. They continued walking by us not offering service. All this time, the bartender just stood there watching us. We were never offered service in this bar. It became very obvious this is a local bar and outsiders are not welcome. Every time we walked by this place it was busy, so that was a good sign. In fact, when we were ready to eat here it was too busy. No problem, we walked around downtown Madison a little more. We went back about a half hour later and got a table right away. It's in a great old building with high ceilings and charm galore. That's not uncommon in Madison, Indiana since it has 133 contiguous blocks of buildings on the national register of historic places, but it's still way cool. It's set up to have live music - too bad we weren't there on a weekend. It's a casual, friendly atmosphere, and it was popular for groups. I was pleased to see several thoughtful vegetarian options on the menu (and vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options are well labeled). I was even happier to learn that their black bean burgers and chickpea patties are made in-house. That's definitely a good sign. I opted for the chickpea burger that isn't fried (Buffalo Chick-Pea Sandwich), and I got it on sourdough instead of the bun. The patty was really nice, though the barbecue sauce they used was too sweet and tangy for my taste. Still, a nice sandwich though. I thought about upgrading to fries, but I stuck with the chips, and I was glad I did. The house made chips are delicious! All in all, this is a great place, and I look forward to returning next time I am in Madison. read more
