How was "The Brickwood" Well, sure- there are beer choices, but I swear someone led me to believe there were hundreds lol and NO, there's not too many as we all believed. The inside is nice and chill. Tables are crazy unique! We sat at one made of welded metal tools. While it is a cool place, it sits walking distance from so many other cool places (with better beer selections) that it was really easy for us to stop by and check it out, then head to another place walking distance and find beers we loved more. I wish I remembered names better but I got a stout or porter (the only beers I drink) and it suggested so many flavors but it was oddly bland and honestly slightly flat as well. Since I was only planning on one beer so that I would be cool to drive hours later, my husband was sad that the beer I got wasn't really so satisfying. lol The other two with me did enjoy what they got enough, but were still up for walking to the Food Lab, where there is a bar and FOOD. While I appreciated the bag of Cheetos, it wasn't enough to do anything but make me want more food. The guys that worked there are nice and there is a back door you can escape into an alley (with parking- shhh!) I appreciated that we were able to find parking since less people are out and about due to the pandemic- but that has little to do with this place. Overall, I wish it were located in a different area- and had food. We might return, but probably only if someone we know is playing music there or something. Great beer and wine selection, they have @ 20 different beer, great selection of IPA, Lagers, Ciders, etc, they have several sizes just in case u want to commit to a pint, also they have a samplers consisting @ 4 or 5 3oz samples, the atmosphere is relaxing, warning they don't have a kitchen, but they do have snacks available and they also have free self serve pretzels, they are currently working on having outside siting for the 2019 summer, if u are stoping by on Friday or Saturday make sure you get there early if u want a table or a spot in the bar, it can get crowded, situated in downtown Riverside is a place to visit, outstanding and friendly customer service. read more

Hey reader, beer lover, wine drinker: Whenever I am downtown I make it a point to drop into this cool new place. I really enjoy the "social tavern" vibe. I especially like the music, the eclectic mix of antique furniture, and the knowledgeable / friendly staff. BrickWood offers 20+ beers on tap, a nice variety of ciders and wines. They typically offers an excellent selection for those that enjoy craft beer and quite a few other "light yellow fizzy" (smiley face) lagers for the Bud Light crew. They do not serve food, but they do allow you to bring in outside items to eat. As a matter of fact Simple Simon's, one of the best sandwich places in Riverside (IMHO), is right next door and there are other excellent restaurants within walking distance. You will find that the crowd is typically more mellow than other bars nearby, which I definitely enjoy. I highly recommend this beer and wine bar and if you do not thoroughly enjoy your visit at BrickWood let me know and I will buy you a beer at your choice of local venues (valid for nice people only). This is as good as it gets for downtown Riverside. At The Brickwood you will find a casual "fern bar" sans ferns. They offer a large selection of craft beers...a list that changes regularly. Wine lovers don't worry, they have a selection of premium wines for your selective palette too. As other reviewers have noted, there is no food but you can bring in outside grub to nosh on. I've never had a bad experience here. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable (they can be funny, too!). They do not serve food (they do have a large pretzel bin with disposable trays for you to bring to your table) but are totally cool with you bringing your own. The beer selection is usually pretty nice giving you options from multiple styles. I wish they had more brews from outside the West Coast (I did see a Victory [Pennsylvania] brew there once), but I can't count that as a negative point since I think they are intentionally trying to feature California and Oregon breweries. read more

My husband and I are craft brewery enthusiasts. I was shocked today to learn that I could not try a small taste/sample of a beer I was curious about. Apparently there's no more tasters, and that's just "the way of the road these days." Is it, though! ****UPDATE: On a later visit we came to learn that there's some kind of law/regulation that means tasting rooms (not breweries) cannot offer tasters. Service was amazing!! The bartender was so helpful explaining the beers currently on tap. Three full beers and a 4oz sample with tip was $30. Not the worst prices but not dive bar prices either. It's in the heart of Downtown Riverside so the vibe is very tied into the area. I love that Downtown Riverside is trying!! I also LOVE attitudes from wait staff! JK! It is super disappointing to see the way some customers were treated because they didn't happen to be as pretentious as the rest of us when it comes to our beer knowledge. First and foremost this establishment has a lot of potential and maybe it's better suited for the younger demographic so my view may be a little skewed. With that here's my two cents. Pros - super cute vintage feel, door man was super friendly, wide selection of beers, seats were very comfy, inviting and open atmosphere. Cons - seating was pretty limited and there was no outdoor seating/space. The bartender was a bit on the rude side. Usually when I ask for suggestions the bartender is glad to make them, this one told me he didn't have time for that, especially not tonight. There were a lot of patrons but at time of order it was only us. So I randomly picked four tasters all of which I ended up hating. Also (and this has nothing to do with the establishment) there were a lot of people on laptops...perhaps I'm not hip to the times but I found that odd. Typically you go to grab a beer and socialize not finish homework right? Bottom line - My husband enjoyed all his choices, the atmosphere was pleasant, probably more of a spot for a more seasoned connoisseur. Nice little spot just not my cup of tea. read more

The setting caught my eye while walking around downtown. It has a relaxing vibe. The workers were nice and extremely informative about their rotating beers on tap. Comfy chairs plus a flight of beers and they had the Australian Open(tennis) on tv is a win all around for me. read more

I loved this place! I have no idea if it's new but the inside decor is totally not new LOL (it's a yolk) it's super vintage/antique decor, which makes the place super hispter accommodating. Their selection of beer is TAP notch. My favorite one was the Sakura something it had tea or something like that. I'm a fan of tea so this was definitely new. I like the variety they have. The star is for the location I love the downtown energy and vibes but unfortunately this place lacks good vibes once you get to the door. We were "taken care of" by some SUPER "cool guy" (sarcastic) named Ben, after getting through the door. I can't help but wonder why they would have someone working in the front checking IDs and greeting guests if they lack tact ? I felt he put the "Coors light" taste in our mouth from the beginning which just ruined it for us. The place I had a nice vintage feel to it but had no direction on seating everything seemed throwing together some tables had chairs some dead and no room to walk around due to the abnormal amount of random chairs. Very cool place with a nice vibe and good assortment of beers on tap. Don't get me wrong, I love me some IPA, but it was refreshing to not see handle after handle of IPA with a smattering of other offerings. Very cool assortment of beer styles. Nice little new place in Downtown Riverside so of course I had to give it a try. I got a pretty delicious beer for $6 which is pretty good. The staff was very nice and service was quick. The thing I love the most was the decor, especially the vintage chairs. The mood is very calm and quite. I was here with my friend and sister and we all enjoyed our beers and conversation. I think it's a place for a more intimate date though so I think I'll return for that. The only thing I didn't like was the music selection, not my taste. read more

Hands down the best place to get beer in DownTown Riverside. Very knowledgeable workers and their ability to describe the flavors of the beer they have makes you feel like a little kid in a candy store or something. They Do Not have food but you CAN bring your food in and eat drink and play games or something fun with a group of friends. They have a video game and I believe it is Pac-Man.
