I still want to wear my wedding dress it was so perfect. Although my wedding consultant no longer works there, she convinced me to try on my dress that I never would have picked out for myself. It was originally blue and I purchased it in ivory. The entire process was so easy. What really stood out to me was the tuxedo service. Every bride I talk to, if they have a complaint at all, is usually regarding the tux/suit process. We had absolutely no issues. Everyone's tuxes came in on time (actually earlier than expected - the Tuesday before our Saturday wedding) and fit like gloves. No problems with the colors or anything. I was given a two estimate to get my order completed. I love that the jewelry is different and very affordable. If I could put 0 stars I would. My dress finally came in and I go to try it on and the zipper was already broken- which I know is the designers fault not theirs- I wait another 3 weeks to get another zipper sent over and I only get a $125 refund on a $1500 dress. Then they kinda just shove me out the door with my broken dress and tell me I'm on my own. I finally find someone who can fix it and when we start to figure out what alterations I need we realize they ordered me way smaller of a dress than I need... The young girls at the store clearly don't know how to measure you for dresses they even measured me with a bra on and I think that's what messed it up. The dress ended up ripping at my reception cause the quality of it was so poor and eventually had to take off my dress cause it was so broken. read more

If I could give zero stars..I would. I will say when I found my dress Brandi (no longer works there) gave me the bridal experience I always dreamed about when I found the Dress. I had all 6 of my bridesmaids even find their dresses there because Brandi was amazing. And thats about where it stopped being good. Everything was fine/okay service until I found out I was pregnant with my miracle baby in January. I had asked the front desk girl (also she was super nice) if i could move up my hem and bustle alterations from August to sooner due to finding out i was pregnant. They let me know at the time, someone would call me the next day to talk about it. A week goes by and Andi the store manager finally called me. I let her know i was in last week asking about it and she snapped back well i have the seamstress here now and im calling you now about it. Then store manager Andi said she wanted to do all my alterations in August. Even with me explaining i was going to be 8 months pregnant then.She told me she wasn't going to have her seamtresses continue to do work if I was just going to get bigger and bigger, it was a waste of their time. (Even tho we started alterations already since I was getting my dress with custom pieces added) She has given me the bridal experience from hell to be frank. Then 45 minutes later called back sweet as pie when she realized all 6 of my bridesmaids. Final straw came when she called 2 weeks ago letting me know her seamtress walked out and that I would need to find someone to do the alterations with only 4 months left until my wedding. And now 6 months pregnant and my dress no longer will fit. So stay away if you can! I had so many people tell me after the fact they have had terrible experiences as well. I was so surprised to see the yelp overall review of this place. The Bridal Event in Appleton has been around for as long as I can remember. This place has a solid gold reputation in the area and deserves to be recognized. I no longer live in the Appleton area, and so when I was looking for my wedding dress I looked at multiple different bridal shops. I have been in 5 different weddings before my own and have been to plenty of bridal shops to compare with the Bridal Event. In looking for my own dress, I went to two in the Chicagoland area, one in Milwaukee, and another in the Fox Cities area. In looking for your dress, this is a stressful and very special time for you and your family. You want the person you're working with to be excited and helpful. I saw three different people at the Bridal Event and they were all rockstars at listening to what I was looking for in terms of cost, there was no pressure in terms of the sale, and they treated me like a friend. I would HIGHLY recommend Bailey; however, I am convinced there isn't a bad egg in this place. The site: the location is centrally located and there is plenty of parking. Something that I didn't realize was so important to me about a bridal shop is the room that I would be changing in. It is no small feat to go in and out of wedding dresses and you want to make sure you're in an area that has enough room for your to change comfortably. I also didn't like the idea of changing and then walking out into a public area to show off my dress (i.e. David's Bridal). There are some dresses that look great and some that you don't care to show to the world. The Bridal Event has large and private spaces for you to pick out your dress. Selection: Like most other brides, I looked at magazines beforehand. I had an idea that I wanted a vintage-like feel for my dress. I didn't care as much about the brand name, but had a specific idea in mind. My bridal event point-person, Bailey, listened to what my tastes were and brought back lots of dresses that fit my style and price range. I was sooooo impressed by the selection and her eye for what I might like. I came in thinking I wanted X dress but then after trying on a few dresses I realized that the style I was interested didn't fit my body type as well as others. Bailey was exceptionally patient and kind throughout this process and helped me find my dress. I still think (obviously biased) it was the most beautiful wedding dress I'd ever seen and it was right at my price-point of $1000 + the alterations. Not only did they have a great selection of dresses, but they also had a great selection of everything bridal. They had an awesome selection of undergarments, jewelry, veils, bridesmaid dresses, and so forth. They also have photography and I believe wedding planners. I have heard great things about their photography, but cannot speak to the bridesmaid dresses or the photography. We had another company do photography and I chose a different company for the bridesmaid dresses because there were so many from out-of-the state. Alterations: I had my alterations done here and they did a beautiful job. I also compared their price to those in the area and it was right on par with other seamstresses. For convenience, it was a simple choice to have everything done here. Like I said earlier, this place has a solid gold reputation within the area. Since I was out of town planning a wedding, I often did not know who to turn to for recommendations. I asked about wedding make-up and the owner of the Bridal Event gave me the name of a local girl who does bridal make-up and hair out of her home. She was fantastic. This place has been around for so long and is so well connected. They are also willing to help you plan your day. In looking at yelp reviews, I was sad to see that more people have not commented on how fantastic this place was. It is no small feat to plan a wedding when you're living out of the state, but this place made it less stressful. I asked friends in the area and the Bridal Event is where people in the Appleton area often go to first. They definitely do get busy on the weekends, but still treated me very well. I would recommend going on a week night or a Friday night rather than a Saturday or Sunday. Keep in mind, I got excellent service and I didn't buy the world's most expensive dress. The biggest turn off for me of the other places I went to is that you may get different service if your price point is higher. The Bridal Event certainly has dresses that were 3-4x more expensive than mine; however, the price of the dress did not change the service I received. I had an amazing experience today (11/7) with Angela while bridal shopping. A few main things I really enjoyed: 1) the set up of the store - There are a few separate sections within the bridal area where it's more "private" but yet so spacious. At other places I have been to, when you show your friends/family the dress, you are out in the open which is fine, but not ideal if a dress doesn't fit well or if you happen to have some area of your body be shown that you don't want shown. 2) my consultant - Angela was AMAZING. This was my 4th place trying on dresses, and I felt she really listened to me when I was describing dresses I liked, didn't like, and what features I was looking for. I showed her a few photos too, which I think helped her help me narrow down my search. I also appreciated the different staff members they had there - I saw 4 people around while there and they were all different shapes, sizes, ages, and genders, which made me feel welcome because I wasn't getting advice/help from someone who was unlike me - I felt comfortable with everyone there. 3) the hospitality of everyone on staff - Along with waters in our room, the store manager Andi checked in a few times to see how things were going and if we were comfortable with the temperature. Another staff brought us champagne when I said "yes", and multiple staff offered to take out picture when we wanted to take a photo with the "I said yes" signs. I also feel that they explained the measurements, sizing, and ordering process well. 4) the overall atmosphere - As stated above, the set up of this business is really great; you check in downstairs then are taken upstairs to choose dresses and try on. It was bright and airy, I think the dresses were displayed beautifully and we didn't have to push dresses around - there was plenty of room. Bridal event has great selection of gowns but I personally have had terrible, cringe-worthy experiences and so have my bridemaids. The new manager/owner ,Andi , is just looking to take your money. She will never address any problems , say sorry or care about customers. She physically cannot say "sorry". She also talks right in your face and NEVER WEARS A MASK, which I find highly unprofessional, and really says a lot about how self serving she is. I remember being so excited to try on my dress when it came in. My 80 year old grandma and mom came from Arizona. We were ready for a wonderful memorable day together. I tried on floor model while staff found MY dress that just came in... floor model was beautiful. Then, the moment we had been waiting for, I got in "MY" dress. I BAWLED. My gown was tattered, the lace was smaller and the embellishments were different. The seamstress came up and said it just needed to be "pressed"??!? The inside of dress poured out over the neckline of my dress . There was a huge snag in the hip (poor sewing/craftsmanship ) the seamstress suggested I was too big for dress!? I snapped at her and asked "why would only my right hip be too big for this dress!??" It was clearly a VERY POORLY made version of the floor model. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. How could NO STAFF see that this 2000$ dress I ordered was trash?!? My mom looked like she was going to cry and shook her head as soon as I put it on. She pointed out more craftsmanship flaws. I went to the bathroom and THREW UP 3 TIMES. It's a terrible memory! I hate thinking about it because my grandma was all dressed up and so excited. I will never get that back. I never got any discount or even a "sorry". Thankfully my wedding wasn't for a while so I had time to WAIT AGAIN for another dress to be ordered. The day of my wedding, my sister's dress had a size 12 written on it front and center. She was embarrassed and upset after spending 200$. She called to complain and this manager , Andi , made her cry. She never said sorry but yet blamed me (the busy bride) for not inspecting it when I picked it up?!? That is NOT my job. The staff is suppose to inspect dresses when they get to store. Apparently my wedding dress, along with my sister's bridesmaids dress wasn't ever Inspected. I am upset the manager couldn't say sorry and blamed the bride. She even had the nerve to say "what's up with this bridesmaid" all snotty like I was about to gossip about my bridesmaid with her???? I found it, the dress. My mom and I stopped in a Saturday morning and were helped immediately. We were taken upstairs to the bridal section and got set up in a really large private room. We worked with Ida, who is really great. All the gowns are out so you can make your own selection to try on. I live in Minneapolis and was in search of a specific style, this was the only store I found that had the sample. All gowns are excellently priced, most $800-$1000, not more than $1400. After trying on a few dresses that i picked out our assistant asked if she could recommend a dress ... It ended up being the ONE. When ordering a dress here your bridesmaids will get $10 off any of their dresses, the bride gets $50 off any headpiece over a $100, and mother of the bride gets 10% off also. They have jewelry, shoes, accessories and tuxes all under one roof. I went shopping all around the twin cities and this was one of my favorite experiences. Bridal Event has a lot of styles that other salons don't carry. I recommend stopping here to check out what they offer. read more

Not very impressed with this bridal shop. I walked in and stood at the counter waiting for someone to help me. Two employees that were behind the counter never said a word to me. I work in customer service and realize that you can't always immediately help a customer, but a simply, "Hi, I will be right with you", is all that needs to be said. My friend ended up finding the dress I went in to look for and asked an employee if we can have a fitting room. We were in the fitting room for about 30mins and no one cared to ask how the dress was fitting. It wasn't till we asked to see color swatches and to try on a dress of a similar color that an employee was concerned and then she wouldn't stop being nice... Maybe because we were talking loudly about the rude service?! I'm choosing not to give my business to this place even though they are down the road from where I live. I obviously have mentioned to others my experience and have heard that I'm not the only one who has had terrible customer service! Drove 2 hours to their store for my bridesmaid dress fitting...no measurements were taken... sales person had me try an alternate dress and guessed my size... and no shocker the dress is way too small....add to that the ever mounting surprise fees despite paying in full at time of order... Today I went bridal dress shopping for my wedding. I had 2 set appointments for later in the day planning to get to the bridal event first since they dont take reservations. I had Kendall as my stylist. She was so amazing! She was as excited as I was about my dress. I had it narrowed down to 3, and 2 of which, she picked out just my listening to me and my family talk about what I want. She was so very present during the whole try on process. Helped me in and out of each and every dress. Then after I left for my other appointments, I was sold on my dress and I call 40 min before they close asking for her to stay for me. She was happy to! the Bridal Event in Appleton is the worst place to purchase a bridesmaid dress. When they measure, they do not go up a size in ordering to accommodate the largest part of the body. My daughter tried on a size 10 and it couldn't be zipped so that is the size they ordered after they measured her. hello!!! why would you not order a size 12? The seamstress we went to said always order a size up because you can always take in, not so easy to let out. To top it all off my daughter could barely zip the dress when they had us travel from MN to try it on to make sure it fit. The bridal event person told my daughter to wear the dress around the house as it will stretch a size or two. Our seamstress laughed at this...the material is not stretchable!! The women at this place should not be measuring/sizing people as they have NO clue!! Our seamstress did the best she could but my daughter wil be miserable the entire day and most likely will have to change into something else later in the evening. If you go here pay attention to the size you try on and then what size they put into order. They were unwilling to take any accountability for their error. Worst place ever!!! read more

Absolutely terrible experience. The stylist asked no questions about our wedding...not even the date, my name, or type of dress I may be interested in. The only thing she was interested in was money and scoffed at my budget, which was purposefully set lower since I know I would not be ordering a dress would have to purchase one that was on sale already due to the short timeline - details she did not even venture to ask. We briefly glanced through the sale gowns, but decided to immediately leave because of the way the stylist treated us when we walked in the door. She then proceeded to patronize me and tell me I should try a resale shop after I had already informed her we were leaving. Please do not give this place your business. I found my dress at this store, but they had NOTHING in my size to try on...they put me in a white bridesmaid dress in my size and pinned dresses to my front and back. If you're going to advertise that you carry sizes 2-26, you damn well better have dresses in all of those sizes available to try on. With that said, I loved my dress. However one of the straps they added came unsewn halfway through the reception. Also, a bridesmaid dress I had altered there was still ill-fitting after four alteration visits. Horrible customer service and price gouging with the entire wedding party. Dresses ordered according to their measurements due to none to try on. 3 had an entire wrong size, one wrong size and 5 inches too long (which was mine) from them stating the extra length was needed (their measurements mind you) great way to ensure hundreds are paid in alterations. I will never set foot in this building again and will ensure all friends and family don't either. Manager refused to not bill me the money to remove the extra inches that they made me pay for when I ordered my dress. Do NOT go here for alternations! They have no idea what they are doing! I ordered my bridal gown from them and was measured hollow to hem. During the meadurement, I let them know I would be wearing flats and I wanted to bottom of the dress to the floor. 1st alteration visit -- they had to let out the hips some. I had concerns with the length of the dress cause it looked too short, but they told me once the hip area fit correctly, they dress would be longer. 2nd alteration visit -- the hip area was fixed, but the dress was still WAY too short. I'm talking a good 2 1/2 to 3 inches too short to where you could see my entire shoe and some ankle. They said there must have been an issue with the measurement but could lengthen the dress. 3rd alteration visit -- I went back to check on the length. They told me that they didn't have any fabric that matched my dress color completely. So now at the bottom of my dress, there is about 3 inches of a clearly whiter fabric and a visible seam. Luckily that is the under layer and I had a lace overlay. The alteration lady said she could add fabric and lower the lace to cover the seam. She did some measurements and had me come back in a week. 4th alteration visit and 5 days before the wedding -- The lace on one side of the dress was the perfect length and the other side was about 2 inches to short. I don't know how you can mess this up. Measure where the lace falls and make it the same on each side. The alteration lady's comment "Oh I guess I should have pinned it so I knew exactly what length it needed to be". You think?!?!? She pinned it and asked if I could come back the next day. Please note that I live around 35 minutes from this place so each trip here took over an hour of travel time. 5th alteration visit and 4 days before the wedding -- The lace finally covers the two-tine under layer which I should have never had if they had measured correctly. Through this whole process, I am assuming they are doing this work for free because it was their error. I sign for the dress to take it home and they ask for $90 to pay for the hollow to hem measurement THAT THEY MESSED UP! I tried to be nice through this whole thing, but I looked at her and told her that I did not believe I should have to pay for that because of tge measuring error. She went and checked in back. She was said they didn't charge for the hem work because of the hollow to hem fee. I asked what about all my time going back and forth for these appointments. And she said sorry I had to come back so many times. I paid and left. They clearly can't do things right the first time and my time is important which they clearly fail to recogize. My fiancée went in to look at dresses while we were in town visiting my parents. It was a Saturday and we checked the website to make sure that they were open. The website said they were open until 5 so the girls decided to go try on dresses. When they arrived around 2:45 they were told they were closing at 3 and were very unkindly shown to the door and told to come back some other time. Even after telling them they were from out of town, they still showed them the door. The staff was very unpleasant and seemed more interested in getting out the door than helping out customers. 9 of 11 tuxes were severly incorrect. 2 had to be delivered to us day of the wedding. 5 out of 5 dresses that were altered were sloppy or never quite correct. 4 out of 7 dresses purchased had mechanical issues (zippers or clasps that failed). Customer service was hit or miss - either spectacular, or horrid. Phone call with the manager to address these issues provided NO resolution - or even empathy to the situation. STAY AWAY! Very patient with us and very helpful answering all our questions. After going to two other places in town, we knew the perfect dress was one we had seen at The Bridal Event, and went back to try on the dress 30 minutes before closing on a Saturday. As soon as I did, they were not as nice, I waited a long time each time I went in for service.at my alteration appointment I asked for some water, they never even came back to even say they had none. This was probably one of the worst experiences that I have had as a bridesmaid for my friend's wedding. I went in and was measured for a dress. The sample size actually fit me exactly and the store ordered the dress. When it came in 6 months later, the dress was dramatically smaller and there was no easy way to alter it (not enough fabric to let out). I was measured again and I am the same measurements as before. When I discussed the problem with management, they told me there wasn't anything they could do about the problem. Apparently the sample sizes often run bigger and get stretched out, which is something they should have said. It's going to cost way too much money to order additional fabric and remake the dress. I don't understand why everyone loves this store. I get this same woman every time who is very helpful, but her hygiene is awful, and her attention to detail is lacking. My friend and I went to look at wedding gowns and no one helped us, checked in with us, nothing for about an hour. I had another friend that got married that same year and my bridesmaid dress was a fiasco. Ordered on the wrong size chart, then they pulled fabric from somewhere and charged me the same price as ordering direct from the maker...it did not match entirely, and thankfully it was under my arms. If it had not been to spare my friend, I would have walked out...it was terrible. Cannot recommend them in any way. When I start shopping for my own gown and bridesmaids later this year, I will do everything to avoid them. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!! START TO FINISH. For all of us me, my wife and all the bridesmaids and groomsman. I'd like to start by saying that I gave The Bridal Event EVERY opportunity to make this right before writing this review. Our experience started back on 11/26/16 and our wedding wasn't until 9/2/17. We just wanted to get that out of the way. Everything went great. "WE THOUGHT" We got a call in march and they had messed up all of our info. About a month later we got the exact same phone call. I WAS WORRIED! But was reassured by Anna that it happens all the time and there was plenty of time and every thing would be fine. About a month or so later we stopped in on our own and while reviewing our info "WE" realized that they had all of the best man and groomsman info mixed up. The week of our wedding finally arrived and with all of our planning every thing was ready to go. I called on Tuesday and she told me that our tuxes would be in at 10am on Wednesday. I called Wednesday and was told 10am Thursday. I called Thursday and was told 8am Friday. Now I was confused. FINALLY at 1pm on Friday she called and they were in. Did I mention that 4 of the guys were from out of town and were supposed to work until 6pm on Friday? Anna assured me that there wouldn't be any issues but if there were it would be fine. Mine and 2 of the other 6 fit. My best mans fit but the pants and tie were broke, shirt was missing buttons and shoes didn't fit. Then we had other wrong shoes and shirts and ties. Anna told us it would be fine and we would have them at 8am Saturday my wedding day. I called at 10am and Anna said every thing was fine and the tuxes would be there shortly. Then she said "its the grooms job to be stressed out on his wedding day!" Wait WHAT? Finally at 12 we got our tuxes. My BM tux was huge. Whatever we had to get ready cuz we still had a 30min drive to MY WEDDING! WE got there and my wife realized that a groomsman was missing his pocket square and her dad had the wrong color vest and tie. When I returned them I told Anna about the missing pocket square and she told me they would GIVE US ONE because they don't give refunds. I LEFT!!! Went home called and left a message for the owner to call me. 15days later she called and pretended to apologize offered me a $60 gift card AND to refund all of the stuff that was wrong. A week later I got a check in the mail for $60. Where's the $ for the refunds? So I called to see what was going on and left her a message to call me back. It's now been 3wks without a response. So I'm writing this review. !!!!!!!!!!!!!WORST EXPIERENCE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yea I'd also suggest not taking your dresses there for alterations they made my wife feel like an idiot in the multiple visits required and still never got her dress the way she wanted it. read more

Don't waste your time...or money! If I could rank 0 stars, I would! AWFUL, just AWFUL. Recently had the Formal Event/Bridal Event handle the tuxedos/dresses for a family member's wedding, and they were beyond incapable of getting even the simplest of tasks accomplished properly. When they proved themselves unable to correctly take measurements for the men's shirts, pants, etc (the list really does go on...), they followed up by not even correcting their mistakes, but instead offering extremely tacky stopgaps such as "plastic button extenders". This just explains the beginning of the problems, as The Bridal Event (which handled the women's dresses) also exhibited unexplainable incompetence in providing dresses that didn't even come close to fitting. For a place that charges a premium for their services, they somehow manage to delivery the worst service I've ever experienced for a wedding party. STAY AWAY, and I guarantee you'll be glad you did. read more

I had the worst experience at Bridal Event. We went the end of January 2013 to look at bridesmaid dresses for my wedding on June 15, 2013. We ended up finding the perfect dress. Most of my bridesmaids were there and got measured. We had an employee of 8 years helping us. She took their measurements and brought in a comparable dress for the girls to try on. Based on their recommendation, my bridesmaids ordered the dress sizes that were recommended. ALL of the dresses when they came in were over 2 dress sizes TOO BIG for my bridesmaids. I'm not sure if they were trying to make money off the alterations, but over 2 dress sizes too big is unacceptable. In addition, when we ordered the dresses, I was told 6 weeks it would take to get the dresses in. This was a relief to me since my wedding was already in June. So I made sure to clarify. In addition, when two of my bridesmaids called separately to order their dresses they were also told 6 weeks for the dresses to come in. After 2 months went by, I called Bridal Event to check on the status of the dresses. At that point, I was told that the dresses wouldn't ship until May 26th, not arrive but ship on May 26th. You can imagine my surprise and horror seeing as how my wedding was on June 15th. I called two more times over the next few weeks to see if that shipment date had changed which it did not. The third time I called and was told the same thing, I asked to speak with the manager. The manager told me for the first time that dresses at Bridal Event take 4-6 months before they arrive in store. She assured me that an employee of 8 years would NEVER have told me or anyone else 6 weeks. She informed me that I was mistaken. My question: why would an employee of 8 years let us order dresses if they would potentially come in AFTER my wedding date?! I am a very anal, attention-to-detail person. I made sure she knew our wedding date before we started trying on dresses, not to mention it was written on every order form. Nonetheless, the manager said she'd check on it. Miraculously, the dresses shipped that night and arrived the next morning (I hope you can hear my sarcasm). In the end, I was very disappointed with their customer service and overall service. Beware! Be prepared for them to push larger sizing! They are not accurate and try to tell you that based on your measurements you need to order larger sizes. One of our girls is a size 2 and was ordered a size 12!!!!!! She was away at school at the time and called in her measurements and they were told she wears a size 2. They told my niece that this designer has odd sizing. I couldn't believe it! We called and asked what they were going to do about it? They placed the blame on us, said based on the measurements given the size was ordered. How in the world can you mix up a size 2 for a 12!!!! I told them to either replace it with correct size or refund us. They told me this was our mistake! All sales are final! I couldn't believe it! We are now stuck with this dress in hopes of getting it altered to look good! This dress took 5 months to come in! They are hoping you will get it altered there so they can soak you!!! We pulled our dresses and will go else where! What a joke! We spent thousands of dollars and this is how you are treated! read more
