A quick lunch on a Saturday ended up being an hour affair. Myself, my husband and my daughter went for lunch - sandwiches and a few bottles of water. My husband HATES mayo and always asks for NO MAYO. 25min later - we get our sandwiches (after I basically tell them that I need my food now or I am getting my money back). My husbands has MAYO. We bring it back in. 15 min later - he gets it back and its fine. By this time my daughter and I are done eating and he scoffs down his sandwich so we can get on with our day. The garbage was overflowing with trash, the line was out the door. How does this place operate on a busy work day? Its sandwiches people, not a 6 course fine dining meal. Come on now. How this restaurant has garnered an average of four stars from my fellow Yelpers is a mystery. They have got this all wrong. The outside of this cafe holds promise; however, once you enter the reality becomes apparent. You order at the counter from a black board menu all written in cursive. I was immediately asked what I would like and I replied that I was still busy trying to read the menu. It is nearly impossible to read this menu. When I was ready, I was waited on by a gentleman that had such a curt manner it would be more appropriate for him if he were to work at the DMV. Any evidence of hospitality was missing from his approach to me. The food: Where do I begin? I ordered a French omelet (ham, brie, and spinach), toast, and an english muffin sandwich for my son. My plate arrived with the flatware placed atop my plate. Yes, that was helpful having my flatware now soiled with the grease from the omelet. Speaking of my omelet, it was a flat, overcooked, dreadful, mess. Rather than having the filling contents inside of the omelet, the cook instead swirled the eggs, ham, and spinach together. This is not the way to prepare an omelet. It was also overcooked. French omelet indeed...it was as French as a french fry at McDonalds. My son's egg sandwich looked like it was hot off the grill from...you guessed it, McDonalds. The inside of the restaurant was dirty, tables strewn with debris, loud and foul-talking patrons...not a comfortable atmosphere for a family at all. A few doors down you'll find the Republic Cafe which serves a far superior and refined breakfast. The patrons in this restaurant will be more refined as well. I absolutely love this place. It is literally a block away, and it was much more convenient when they were opened 'til 8pm, so I could order dinner there instead when it's less crowded. It is pretty popular for lunch, and a lot of people cram in to get their lunch order in and it's hard to find a table during their rush hours. My absolute favorite thing to get here (my usual) is the smoked salmon on focaccia bread, no onions, with a side of potato salad. They seem to pile on the smoked salmon and the capers with it is a really nice touch with the outer crunch and inner softness of the bread. They have coffee and tea and smoothies. I love their iced tea here. I get a large size, extra sweet, and I'm not sure what they sweeten it with, but it's so addicting. Fancy shmancy sandwiches without being pretentious. They have prosciutto and BLTs and salads. The staff is great here, and they are consistently leaving me satisfied every time I come here. read more

My first experience at the Bridge Cafe was less than stellar. Their staff did not greet us when we came in and they didn't once crack a smile. Both my partner and I ordered the Balsamic Roasted Portabella Panini (gorgonzola, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, boursin, served on rosemary focaccia). Sounded delicious. The panini looked (and was cold) and when I asked if it was supposed to be a pressed panini the guy gave me attitude and said... yeah, it is can't you see the grill marks? The bread wasn't even pressed and yes grill marks were present, but not warm. The sandwich also lacked the main ingredient of gorgonzola cheese. I will likely try this place again as it is nice to be able to sit on elm street outside the cafe and watch life go by, but I HATE bad service and they had terrible service and their food wasn't all that it was cracked up to be (in my humble opinion). read more

Great food and a myriad of prices. I know two people that work there and told me I have to eat there. I went in with very little money in my pocket and wanted a hot drink and light fare. The restaurant was easy to find and comfy atmosphere. People sitting on laptops and drinking coffee. A bunch of twenty somethings cracking jokes. It was a nice little place to eat felt like it could become a regular place to visit. The menu was expansive and fit all sorts of moods and prices. Breakfast, lunch and some big appetite items were available. I had no money to spend and needed something to fill me up. I went with the egg, cheese burrito. It was simple and tasty it hit the spot as well as the wallet quite well. It cost me 4.00 bucks and got a hot tea for a total of 5.50. The tea choices were also expansive. I signed my receipt but didn't put down a tip, when the credit card charge came through they had added $1 for me. Additionally... my latte was sub-par. The soy milk was clearly over steamed and there wasn't enough mocha in it. The only positive of the experience was that the bacon my bacon & egg sandwich was crispy, as ordered. I really like the bridge cafe, not a great review because I always get the same thing, turkey/swiss/chipotle panini. I like the portion size, not to big not to small. The ingredients are fresh and way tasty not to mention the way its grilled...perfect almost as if its a grill and not a press...who knows! I'm a chipotle mayo snob if there is such a thing. I want my chipotle to be smokey and spicy like a true chipotle pepper and Bridge Cafe delivers. I got the cilantro lime chicken sandwich with the pasta salad. The food was mediocre. The chicken was dry and the chicken was a fat piece that didn't cover evenly with the rest of the bread. The salsa, cheese, and guacamole was a good combination so the flavor was there, but since the chicken was flavorless, it definitely affected the remainder of the sandwich. The pasta salad was ok. I've been back twice since my initial review. The first trip back was another Chipotle Turkey Panini, and it was just as delicious as before. Also picked up one of their mango smoothies, and it was very delicious and very tropical tasting. On my second trip back, I wanted a breakfast burrito. I used to get them all the time in Southern California, but hardly anyone has them out here (and the few I've had were kinda sucky). Cue the Bridge Cafe's awesomeness. I made a custom burrito because I had to have it all....egg, cheese, potato, steak, chorizo, and peppers. It was heavenly. As delicious as it was, I could probably do without the steak next time (my wallet would agree....it was about $8 for my custom prize lol), and it would actually be closer to the burritos I used to get. How this place got four stars is beyond me. I went there Sunday 8/4/13 around 1030 am. Ordering is difficult, they want you to order quickly, but menu is written on a large wrap around black board in cursive--in cursive! Would be fine if it were a limited menu, but there's more than forty menu options!!! Collectively my S.O. & I ordered a Greek omelette, home fries, bacon and coffee. The omelette was alright, but the bacon and home fries were delicious. The coffee was pretty good too. We also grabbed a plate of French toast because of the following post The Bridge Cafe placed on Facebook on March 4th: "We are proud to now serve REAL (LOCAL) NEW HAMPSHIRE MAPLE SYRUP with all of our breakfasts!" This was also stated on the exhausting black board menu. Well we received our french toast along with a little plastic box of Log Cabin Syrup whose first two ingredients are what?......corn syrup & high fructose corn syrup. It also came with Land O Lakes Fresh Buttery Taste Spread. If I'm able to attach a photo, I will. The tables and chairs are what you'd find in a buffet. The seating area is weird. They have 3 distinctive places, they have a small seating area where the kitchen & registers are, then across the hall looks like a different restaurant, but it is a larger Bridge Cafe seating area. The ONLY thing that makes this place "cafe" like is that they also have sidewalk seating. The Bridge cafe is not a cafe, you see, Cafe's are not just places to go for coffee; they are inviting and they persuade you to get away from the office, to get out of the house. Some people have business engagements there, others write, do homework, proposals, listen to music, read books, surf the net or just to hang out with friends. I don't want to do any of those things at the Bridge Cafe. They have I think they have missed the point. The food was not bad (that's why I am giving them 2 stars), but everything else was. Absolutely in love with the food AND the service. This Cafe is by far the most professional and the nicest when it comes to service. Our company orders from them twice a week for lunch. 9/10 times they are right on time- and for that 10% they aren't (it's not even THAT common), they make up for it in quality. The food is delicious. We have never had an issue with orders, taste, quality, etc. They catered a major event for us for 2 days in a row (breakfast and lunch both days) and they did an amazing job. However, today I went in to get lunch and that was the first time calling and going in and I personally thought the staff was kinda rude. Thoroughly enjoyed, the menu is a little overwhelming for a first timer. There is a gaggle of people waiting for their to go orders but plenty of seating. Breakfast served all day so they smell like a lot of bacon. The juices are pretty pimp, i really enjoyed the apple/ginger juice it's called a wake up. Medusa panini is quiet the collection of flavors. People that come here and work here are both pretty clicky, it's easy to feel left out or you might just fit in, either way a great place to stop to get breakfast or lunch. read more

I must say I am thoroughly disappointed today. I waited over 19 minutes for an order that was a simple Egg Salad BLT with fruit and when I opened and there was more bread than egg salad. I removed the egg salad from the bread and was shock at how little egg salad there was in comparison with the large pieces of tomato and lettuce. Today they lost me as a customer. I came with my sister the other day and she said she wanted to get a breakfast burrito which sounded really good. I asked the spunky barista which was the most popular of the burritos and she said definitely the chorizo. It came. I took a bite. Let me tell you! Whenever I'm in Manchester for business I always try and swing by this cafe with my friends. The food and service is excellent, I love their panini most of all (I have tried the bridge, the cilantro lime and the Wellington. I liked all of them except the Wellington which was little sweet for me. ) and if your not a huge potato salad or chips eater like myself you can request a decent sized cup of soup as a side for an extra 1.00! Clam chowder all the way! Their drinks also get great reviews from my fiends, since I'm here around October I always forego caffeine and get a hot apple cider to warm myself up. I've also tasted my friend's funky monkey drink and I was surprised I liked it so much when I hate the taste of coffee. Food- Excellent variety of standard America breakfast/lunch classics. Good quality ingredients. Price- A little bit more expensive then what you would expect to pay for other cheap breakfast joints but you get what you pay for. Atmosphere- This is The Bridge's down point. They own two sides of a first floor building that was clearly originally designed to be office space. You have to order in one room, walk back out in the hall and enter a large dining area where they bring the food. Kinda weird if your a first-timer but it does have the advantage of getting away from the busy counter staff. Overall- Bridge is where you go for a good quality breakfast/lunch with healthy options. I absolutely love this place. I go here religiously. I work right down the street so I'm always ordering from here! The food is delicious. It's a little bit on the pricy side but I personally find it worth it. I love the smoothies and my go to breakfast meal is the breakfast burrito! It doesn't stop at breakfast though. They have a large selection of paninis which happens to be my favorite meal in general! They deliver but they also have a good amount of seating. They do get pretty busy around breakfast and lunch time which gives off a hectic atmosphere and due to the place being so busy their delivery times can be up to an hour but I find this the only downfall. The Bridge Cafe is a great spot in downtown Manchester. The environment is great in the second room for more privacy at a small table and the room where you order is more a european style, sitting a little too close to strangers for my liking. The food is great, I would recommend the chipotle turkey panini or a grilled muffine (specifically the pumpkin chocolate chip during the fall). The staff is always friendly and mostly efficient. The kitchen looks a little small for the volume of business they do during lunch, so if you get there at 12:00, be prepared to wait a little for your food. If the service was a little quicker during lunch and the second room had it's own spot with silverware, etc... it would be a 5-star rating. Thanks for the great spot Roy! read more

I really love this place. The food is always fresh and the staff is super friendly. There are a lot of options for coffee, teas and smoothies. I used to work in the next building and only came in less than 10 times and they'd remember me. I'd order my lunch ahead and then walk over and get it and they would often see me enter and get it for me. The panini are great and are a good portion size as you also get a side like pasta salad, potato salad, fruit or chips. I've tried the Bella Rose (Prosciutto, tomato, fresh mozzarella, pesto, balsamic mayo, served on focaccia), the Bridge (Grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, pesto, balsamic reduction, served on focaccia) and the Medusa (Crispy eggplant, spicy feta, avocado, lettuce, tomato, black olives.) I liked the Bella Rose and The Bridge. The Medusa was not as good as I thought it'd be. Though the ingredients are all things I like, maybe I just don't enjoy them all together. I also really like their soup. The chicken and rice was my favorite. GF, warm and filling. I am a sucker for a nice, hearty soup. Comfort food is the best, especially when you're stressed at work. The smoothies are very filling. Sometimes I would get one for lunch or a mid-afternoon snack and be fine for the rest of my shift. They also have boosters so they could be energizing. Fresh fruit is a great way to get vitamins during the day! Overall, I feel like there are a lot of healthy options but yet very filling and satisfying and definitely homemade and fresh. Very reasonable prices considering portion size and quality. The only downside is that they close at 5pm. Now that I don't work nearby it's hard for me to get there during the day. I get that their food is mostly breakfast and lunch style but I personally wouldn't mind grabbing a panini or soup to go for dinner. I remember years ago they used to be open for open mic nights.
