I really love this place. The food is always fresh and the staff is super friendly. There are a lot of options for coffee, teas and smoothies. I used to work in the next building and only came in less than 10 times and they'd remember me. I'd order my lunch ahead and then walk over and get it and they would often see me enter and get it for me. The panini are great and are a good portion size as you also get a side like pasta salad, potato salad, fruit or chips. I've tried the Bella Rose (Prosciutto, tomato, fresh mozzarella, pesto, balsamic mayo, served on focaccia), the Bridge (Grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, pesto, balsamic reduction, served on focaccia) and the Medusa (Crispy eggplant, spicy feta, avocado, lettuce, tomato, black olives.) I liked the Bella Rose and The Bridge. The Medusa was not as good as I thought it'd be. Though the ingredients are all things I like, maybe I just don't enjoy them all together. I also really like their soup. The chicken and rice was my favorite. GF, warm and filling. I am a sucker for a nice, hearty soup. Comfort food is the best, especially when you're stressed at work. The smoothies are very filling. Sometimes I would get one for lunch or a mid-afternoon snack and be fine for the rest of my shift. They also have boosters so they could be energizing. Fresh fruit is a great way to get vitamins during the day! Overall, I feel like there are a lot of healthy options but yet very filling and satisfying and definitely homemade and fresh. Very reasonable prices considering portion size and quality. The only downside is that they close at 5pm. Now that I don't work nearby it's hard for me to get there during the day. I get that their food is mostly breakfast and lunch style but I personally wouldn't mind grabbing a panini or soup to go for dinner. I remember years ago they used to be open for open mic nights. I've been going to "The Bridge" for a couple years now, and will continue to go whenever I have the chance. As a vegetarian, their selection is quite good, and the food is great. Breakfast is served all day. Friday morning breakfast orders delivered to the office have become a tradition. It gets a little busy during lunch hour during the week, but no more than one would expect. I've been a happy customer for a while and look forward to remaining one for a while to come. read more

I absolutely love the Bridge Cafe. They have a huge varied menu and lots of healthy options. What keeps me coming back though is the gluten free menu. They have gluten free french toast and gluten free bread for sandwiches. They are also extremely accommodating. I'm allergic to strawberries but they offer to do a fruit salad without strawberries for me. This is a busy "order at the counter" place so I'm always impressed when they cater to my needs. Bridge also delivers and I'm fairly certain there is no minimum. Since they serve breakfast all day, I love to order french toast delivered to work when I'm having a rough day. The breakfast all day also gives me more gluten free options for work lunches. Can't beat the protein of an omelet! My disclaimer is that I am gluten intolerant and not Celiac so I can't opine if they are up on preventing cross contamination. However, I am very gluten sensitive and have never been sick after eating there. They recently also started carrying fresh vegetable juice. Bridge café is quickly becoming an institution in Downtown Manchester. Great lunches, creative menu of soups, salads, and sandwiches. The best smoothies in town as well as great coffee. Free wifi, and the best place to people watch in the city. The owner Dave is great to chat with and throw good natured jabs back and forth. The chalkboard menu is the size of a movie theater screen, and fresh, creative weekly specials on the board, make for a fun & challenging visual experience. Best place to go in Manchester for food, drinks, fun and business. The one and only drawback is my sandwich creation has yet to make the board, but my persistence will prevail. This used to be my favorite place to order breakfest. But all of a sudden they changed they attuide and much more. Everythime I order now they are rude over the phone. I order from them at least once a week amd to be treated this way is unfair. I also have a server pineapple allergy which will send me to the hospital , I isually always get a cup of strawberries which require them to simply wash a knife. Now they are charging me 5$ per cup DUE to my allergy . the order taker over the phone even said so. This is not fair to me. I loved this place but not anymore. You ask him for mayo, which is not an unreasonable request for a turkey sandwich, and he states NO - we don't have mayo.: hmmmmmm. OK. The food was good but the service was AWFUL!! We dined in a little bit prior to lunch time and we both got simple meals...a BLT and a breakfast burrito. We waited well over 45 minutes for our food to be served while other orders , including to-go orders, that were served prior to ours. When I approached the staff about the status of my order they said it would be out in a few minutes however it came out in about 10 minutes. This is my office's go to spot for breakfast and for lunch. It's one of those local spots you tell people from out of town about looking for a good place to eat. They tell you an hour wait when you order breakfast in the morning only because they deliver literally everywhere. Max wait time for us has been 45 minutes. For as busy as they are and how far they travel, that is pretty great Not to mention how good their food is. I have had everything on their menu at least once. The staff are amazing. The only reason I haven't given Bridge Cafe five stars is because it's not always consistent. The Super Veggie is amazing, always the same, comes with your choice of chips, cafe salad, potato salad, or fruit salad. So you have a wonderful choice of (relatively) healthy sides. I frequently get a wheat bagel with veggie cream cheese, and a side of home fries (best veggie cream cheese in town!) These were my favorites until the last two times I have ordered them. Whether delivery or eat-in I have had either awesome home fries or home fries that were dry, under-cooked, and barely edible. The last time I ordered my bagel was over toasted and black, and the veggie cream cheese was warm. To have one of my favorite sides be so awful the last two times it makes me wonder, "Did they get a new cook or something?". Other than those minor things I would recommend this to anyone who wants a healthy, well portioned breakfast or lunch. They are quick, have awesome food and are always friendly. I am really shocked to see that this place has a 4 star average. To be honest the only good thing I can say about my past experiences with this place is that they deliver breakfast. Only reason why I go back is because my gf likes a non meat item (not sure exactly what though). The service was friendly helpful and quick. I had the American omelette. They use red onion and red peppers which is a big plus to me. There were no burn marks on the omelette which is another big plus to me. I skipped on the toast and upgraded to a corn muffin. The muffin itself was very good. Now for the bad. I've always loved this place--my favorite breakfast food around! I crave the breakfast burritos with salsa. But I had a particularly amazing experience this past Tuesday. I walked downtown in the beautiful weather to enjoy a nice breakfast, only to realize once I got there that I had left my wallet back at the house. I was devastated, and felt like a complete fool. The man that took my order told me that I could pay the next day, and not to worry about it. He took my order and did not make me feel bad or act like it was a big deal. I was so thankful! I don't like to give out five star reviews. I'll give out a ton of four-star because there are really a lot of restaurants that do a good job, but I'm picky with my five star reviews. After being to the Bridge Cafe around 15-20 times, they have edged in to five-star territory. Service: Some of the reviews here are right, the service can be spotty. I have had my order messed up, usually when one element of an order is missing (such as, no soup for my soup+sandwich, or no muffin with my muffin+omelette). However, they have never failed to make up for any mistake and the people who work at the Bridge Cafe have been very polite and talkative. I believe the quality of the employees make up for some service lapses, YMMV. Value: Be prepared to spend a few dollars more here than you would at other Manchester sandwich places (Ate Doors Down, Midtown Cafe, Subway). I think the additional quality is worth it, but it's not the cheapest option. Additionally, I don't believe they note delivery charges on their website, which can be annoying when your $8 order is suddenly $10. Atmosphere: Edit (3/27): Had to update my review. They have recently expanded next door, and it's really nice! There is another dining area with some booths and spacious tables. Additionally, they now have Wi-Fi! The password was on their specials board when I was last in there. Food: This is my go-to lunch spot, and I work in a building with a cheaper, faster Subway in it. Going down the list: Salads ($7-10): I have only had their Strawberry Slice and Goat Cheese Salads, but they do some magic with their salads. The ingredients are high-quality and fresh, the combination of flavors elevates the salad above other similar venues, and the portions are very large filling a large bowl or a large take-out container. I do not consider myself a big salad fan, but I will specifically order salads here and that is a rare feat. I highly recommend the Strawberry Slice salad, it may be their second best item. Edit: I have had a few more of their salads: no complaints. I maintain that their SS Salad is awesome and I still get it regularly. Sandwiches (6-8): These vary. I have had several of their sandwiches, and there are a few consistencies. They run towards a normal sandwich size, maybe a bit on the small side considering other places serve loaf-size sandwiches. They are not stuffed that much, but the quality of the ingredients they use is clearly a step or two above of other local choices. Much of what I said for the salads goes here, and the sandwiches make up for the smaller size by having a choice of pasta salad, "cafe" salad, potato salad, or chips on the side. Additionally, TBC usually offers three special sandwiches for a bit of a premium and normally they are very good. The Buffalo Turkey may be the best sandwich I've had there. I would argue the quality of the ingredients and the strong mix of flavors and textures put these sandwiches a cut above other local eats. Soups: The soups are top-tier. The selections can be bean heavy and they change consistently, but they offer both traditional and regional soups (ranging from Chicken and Rice to Hot and Sour to Chicken Mole in two weeks) and they are hearty soups. I would definitely recommend giving one or two a shot. Sides: The quality of the sides vary oddly. The pasta salad and cafe salad can change each time, but most of the time they are really good. Breakfast: Not surprisingly, they do breakfast really well, but I don't think their offerings distinguish themselves from other breakfast places as much. You can go in there and get a good breakfast at a reasonable price (I recommend the Breakfast Burritos), but if you go in for one thing, put down a couple dollars and change and walk out with a muffin. The Best Muffin in NH two years running, and it deserves the title. Large, fresh, unique muffins that don't have a good competitor, they are simply awesome. You can get them grilled or normal, but either option will work. You can walk out of there with a muffin and a breakfast burrito for 7 dollars and not have to eat until late in the afternoon. I feel like the quality of their food, for what they are, allows them to deserve five stars. I have not had a bad meal there in my many lunches and breakfasts, eat-in or to-go, and they deserve all the kudos they get. I went here today to meet up with a friend for some coffee and light snack before going to a movie. I love breakfast, and they serve it all day! I had the pancakes and they catered to what I wanted which was bananas and chocolate chips. Actually the waitress gave me the option of bananas to add ... they were so yummy! Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is laid back and the sort of place you can go do work or read a book. In addition, their panini sandwiches are supposed to be great as well as the coffee selection. We found the Bridge Cafe after being turned away by the huge crowds at the Red Arrow. This ended up being a MAJOR win for us. You order at the counter, pay, then they bring the food out. No typical table service by a server, which is fine for me at breakfast. The food is so good, and priced very fairly. Both times we went for breakfast, there were several locals inside ordering, so we knew we had picked the right place to eat. The juices and smoothies are a neat option, which help make you feel like you are making healthy dining decisions. Both times we stopped for breakfast, the food came out nice and warm and very pleasing to the eye. Good quality eggs and breads, as well as hashbrowns. The counter staff are uber friendly, and pleasant. I mentioned quietly to my wife about wanting some hot sauce when one of the kitchen staff heard me, then offered up a serving of home made hot sauce from the kitchen at no charge. It's that kind of attentiveness and helpful attitude that makes me like the Bridge Cafe even more. Throw away the bad onions. Seriously, I can smell the bad onions from the parking garage of 1155 Elm when I open my car door in the morning. The orientation of where you order and wait for your food is entirely in opposition to normal human behavior. When you come into this place and order your food you will be in someone's way. You will find yourself moving around like some game of human tetris to find a spot that is not impeding the flow of traffic. This place needs a re-design that can sustain a flow of customer traffic, as it currently sits this place is frustrating. The food is pretty good when they get your order right, we found about a 30% chance of error on a daily basis ordering items for our office. Prices seem a bit high. I will start by saying great smoothies, coffee and pastries. The guy who runs the place is a complete jerk and treats his employees terribly. Every time I have been there I have heard him belittle them or call them names in front of all customers there. This morning I was there and heard him call his employees "a bunch of monkeys." I am appalled that this goes on and disgusted that I have ever given my money to such a place that allows this treatment...Today was the last visit I will ever make to such an establishment. Honestly surprised at some of the reviews. I used to work across bridge street at Wings Your Way. Nearly every morning we would get Bridge, and it's my go to lunch date place. People say there's bad customer service? That place is literally always busy. The people behind the counter have never ONCE been rude to me. They are hard workers and it's a fast paced place, sometimes you need to be assertive to get their attention. They're accommodating and after I started going there a lot, they would recognize me and chat with me. It's a little pricey but the food is fantastic, a lot is homemade too. Their smoothies are delicious. I'm not a huge coffee fan but they do homemade coolata kind of things that are SUPER good, and they offer a lot of flavors for coffee. Their breakfast sandwiches are also amazing, especially on bagels. I'm fairly sure there's free wifi, and it's a nice place to sit down with a hot drink on a dreary manchester day, or any for that matter. I definitely recommend it! If people have had a bad experience, try going back. I don't see how you could not love it. read more

Gratifying. Yesterday I met a friend for breakfast and we only had an hour. The cafe is pub style service, where you order your meal, pay and they hand you a number plaque to place on your table. A short wait later, your meal is delivered to you! There were many other people trying to decipher the menu chalk board. So many choices, squeezed into such a small space! So, I made a hurried decision and ordered an egg and cheese sandwich with ham, croissant, and home fries. My friend saw Greek Omelet and was sold! My first fear was the sandwich was going to be salty because of the ham, cheese, and sometimes over salted egg. After the first bite, my fears were put to rest. The sandwich was perfect! The croissant tasted fresh, the ham was thinly sliced, the cheese not overbearing, and the egg fried to perfection! The greatest surprise of them all! House made home fries! Not those orange, seasoned deep fried home fries. And my friend's Greek omelet looked fluffy, colorful, and fresh. It also came with home fries and wheat toast. It seems my previous review got the attention of a few of the staff there, and they weren't to happy to hear it! BUT, things have improved. Charlie is still awesome as always, but Roi (the owner) has gotten much better at engaging his customers. George is no longer there, but The Bridge is now staffed with friendly, nice baristas who are always polite and happy to make conversation with you. I've been very pleased with the increase in customer service. The drinks still vary from person to person, but the food is just as good. 3 words: BALSAMIC ROASTED PORTOBELLO!! I can't begin to tell you how many times I have been here (or had something delivered). This is my favorite place to grab a bite to eat in or around Manchester, and now that they deliver, I can get something for lunch when I'm stuck at work on Saturdays by myself! The menu is HUGE for such a quaint little spot. I have to admit, I've only had a few items from their expansive menu because when I find something, it's really hard for me to sway from it. I usually end up getting either a veggie omelet ( I'm Vegetarian ), the Balsamic Roasted Portobello sandwich on grilled focaccia bread w/ Boursin cheese, Gorgonzola, caramelized onions....... I'm getting hungry... or the veggie wrap which is excellent. My wife usually gets the same thing (Balsamic roasted portobello sandwich). The pasta salad and the potato salad are fantastic and the specials (soups / sandwiches) are always excellent. Occasionally it's a little hard to find a place to sit and parking is often aggravating but it's ALWAYS worth it. The owners and the chefs are top notch people and provide consistently awesome food. So, I went to order my small ice caramel machiatto that I always order with no problem. I found that because nobody is ever consistent here, that I would ask for extr cream and a little extra caramel on the side. I don't want them putting It in because I want to be able to fix it myself. With a delivery charge of 1 dollar that they already charge which is understandable, my coffee is usually 4.96. But because I wanted these things on the side they wanted 7.16. This is for a SMALL iced coffee. Like seriously? I understand things cost money. But a table spoon of caramel and 5 creamers don't cost 2 dollars. I'm already paying for a coffee you guys never get right but then paying for it because you can't get it right so I ask for stuff to fix it myself. Absurd. read more
