Been a year or so since we have been out to this restaurant and finally got the hubby to agree to drive out for a date night. Get a little dressed up have a great meal and maybe dessert and a coffee. We got there as a 2 top and was walked past multiple empty booths and sat in an open more pub like dinning area. I just assumed that the server in the dinning area was at limit of tables. It's chilly in this area so I kept my coat on and saw that the people at the table next to us kept theirs on too. There is a birthday? Bachelorette? In the corner. This will be relevant later. So we sit and my husband ordered a Guinness and I a Diet Coke. He brings the drinks and there is no head on the Guinness, there is none of that carbonation in the beer. So he takes our food order and my husband comments on beer and the server said that the beer was poured correctly. That they poured half let it sit then poured the rest. My husband said ok but there is no head? And they replied well I don't know it was poured correctly and left. Ok not overly impressed but I've eaten the food. It's my cheat night. I have a pulled pork sandwich with Caesar salad. The table next to us gets their food. The one woman at the table picks at her fries and is commenting how bad the sandwich is. The other two men weren't impressed either with their food. The party in the corner is getting loud. The server drops a new drink to me unprompted which I love. And hubby orders a bottled beer. He then goes to the next table to pick up dishes and I hear the woman say ya I don't know what that is but it is not pulled pork. Hubby looks to me and starts to laugh. So server takes all their stuff walks away. And I said noooo please tell me it's not the pulled pork? She said like pulled pork is bbq. There was no bbq. Also nothing was pulled it was a solid piece of I'm not sure what but I think it was fish?? I'm sad, but hopeful that it was just a mistake and I'll get the right order. She has to raise her voice to speak as the party table is well having a party.. Our food comes and I immediately open the sandwich and it's a solid piece of white meat. I say oh hold on. And he's like yes? I said this isn't pulled pork? There is no cheese? That's shredded lettuce not cabbage and there is so much sauce the white bread not sourdough is soaked. The salad came with no dressing? They say ok so you don't want it? what would you like? And I said I don't know can I have a menu? So he walks off to get one. Hubby opens his sandwich and it's not right either. His is the farmhouse chicken sandwich. This was also not even close to right. There was no cheese, it was not layered roast chicken it was rotisserie chicken that oddly enough was ripped up like pulled pork??? The sauce was mayo not a creamy herby cheese sauce. Although it did have the bacon, lettuce but no tomato. The server returned hubby shows him that his is missing things and wrong and he says so you don't want it either? Hubby says no I'm hungry but your kitchen is messing up allot. The server then looked at me and said find anything on the menu. Like oblivious to what hubby just said and I said. No I'm good. Honestly I was scared what would come out. Hubby finishes and we ask for the bill. The party girls now have shots The server proudly walks up and says don't worry I got your meal removed from the bill. You can pay at the front. So I looked thinking that they removed hubby's because mine wasn't even eaten and sent back and his was completely wrong. No they removed my meal. Nothing for the fact the hubby's meal was wrong. I debated writing this for over a week but the whole thing was so bad I don't want someone else to waste their gas, time and money. I got dressed up for date night to sit in a cold pub area with a party, the girls did nothing wrong, but the atmosphere was just wrong. Been wanting to try this place for some time now and found ourselves close by this past weekend so was finally given the opportunity. I can only say that I was very impressed. We arrived and were seated right away. Admittedly we were there at 4:30pm on a Friday but it was getting busy even then, so good quick service. I was very torn on what to try as it had a lot of options I was looking at but I am a hamburger kind of guy and the Smokey XXX Burger was just looking too good. So with a little help from the waitress, I chose this. My table also ordered a fish and chips and Chicken and Shrimp Creole Bowl as well as an order of deep fried pickles. Well we were blown away when the pickles showed up. I had never seen bigger pickle spears. Split between the 3 of us it was still a lot. Then our meals arrived and wow! My burger was huge! I am a large eater and I could not finish it. The mac and cheese side was very cheesy and creamy. The burger patties were juicy and charred just right. It was great. Both other meals at the table were fantastic as well. The fish and chips were again very large. Couldn't finish. The rice bowl was flavourful and loaded with chicken and shrimp. Great Spot for food and drinks, highly recommend if you're in Agassiz! Service is super friendly, all the waiters we're constantly checking on us to make sure we were okay and cracked jokes with us too! Atmosphere is cozy, great music and love the decor! We ordered: * Pulled Pork Poutine $15.95 * Broken Whiskey Ribs $25.99 * Tequila Sunrise (Recommend) * Lime Margarita The pulled pork was flavourful and juicy, fries were crispy but unfortunately the gravy was quite salty. So I wouldn't recommend the poutine but I'd get the fries as a side with my burger next time! The ribs was okay, wasn't anything to special, fries were crispy and the sides were okay. For food today we'd come back to try their burgers! We had other people in our table that enjoyed the burgers. As for the drinks, super tasty. Yummy. We recently moved back to BC just at the beginning of March 2020. Unfortunately due to Covid we kept driving by this place but it was never open. Now due to the flooding in the Fraser Valley we haven't really been able to get out to Vancouver to restaurants like we normally do so we remembered this place that we wanted to try since we saw it Wayback during the pandemic. We were not disappointed. First of all the ambiance and decor in this place are absolutely adorable its western themed and they really made sure to take care of all the little touches. It's done extremely well not hokey absolutely adorable. Since we wanted to come here for so long we've been eyeing up the menu and we're slightly disappointed to see that some of the items were not available however totally appreciated that the top of the menu that they're using right now actually states that they're having issues getting certain ingredients so definitely not a big deal we just readjusted it. We had a table of three and we ordered a lot of stuff to try and share. My cousin ordered the mushroom schnitzel and the mac & cheese. I can't even count the amount of times he said how amazing the schnitzel was. He was loving the sautéed mushrooms and delicious gravy that topped it and kept trying to force everyone at the table to try it. Even though it had mushrooms which my husband hated when he tried it he actually liked it. But schnitzel came with a potato and braised cabbage both of which were absolutely delicious. The mac & cheese was so creamy and we all shared it it was very decadent. My husband has taco review so he tried out the fish tacos and the pulled pork poutine. I am allergic to fish so I did not get a first-hand taste of these however he did review them very well. Also I confess I'm not a french fry fan so I have no ability to weigh in on the poutine situation but the other two people in my group happily munched it down with resounding compliment. As for me I ordered the Cordon Bleu schnitzel and wow. It came with a delicious baked potato filled with cheese sauce and bacon bits and braised purple cabbage. I'm biased because German food is my absolute favourite and this schnitzel wears up there with the best of them. I've had schnitzel in Germany, I've had schnitzel in Austria this is comparable with some of the best ones I've had there. So crispy and crunchy but not greasy at all. My mom loves schnitzel and I cannot wait for her to come down and visit and try this for herself. Everyone was picking bites off my plate that's how good it was. We're excited to come back and try out some more things on the item I'm hoping the smothered chicken comes back soon because the online menu makes it sound amazing. I also want to touch on the staff there there incredibly nice people incredibly helpful and made the experience even better than just the food. They have this really cool thing that she called wacky Wednesday and the experiment with a totally off-the-wall recipe. Some of the creations I've seen online are totally nuts but I imagine delicious. Everything in this place seems done well from the minute you walk in the decor pleasant staff and most importantly the food definitely make the trip out to Aggazi for this place I really don't think you will regret it. read more

Definitely one of the unknown gems in a smaller city. The portions are generous and delicious. Reasonably priced and the service was first rate. Staff are very friendly helpful and efficient . I had the beef and Yorkshire pudding which admittedly could have done with a little more gravy but delicious nonetheless while my wife had the chef's salad which she declared more than satisfactory. Aggasiz is a little out of the way but the trip is absolutely worthwhile . Extend your trip a few kilometres to Harrison Hot Springs and take in the amenities there. read more

HORRIBLE. The owner told us a booth would be becoming available soon. We saw an empty table behind us but we stood and waited for 15 minutes before a young man came up and told us no booths were opening up and we could sit there. Owner forgot to give us menus. Slow service. They brought us steak and lobster $49.99 a plate before our appetizers. So we cancelled them. Potatoes cold, lobster chewy and cold. They didn't bring us butter. I ordered my steak rare. They had a strange red sauce on top so I couldn't see that it was cooked properly.. half way through the steak I realized the entire thing was RAW. Not even blue rare the entire thing uncooked. The owner very weirdly came up behind and hugged one of us at the end making us very uncomfortable. Terrible experience and for that price I did not expect that at all. First time trying it and we'll never go back. read more

Stop 5 - The Broken Whisk Restaurant AgassizAgassiz, BC - March 6, 2021 Stop five on our culinary adventure involved a beautiful scenic hour long drive from Abbotsford to Agassiz. Now the drive alone is worth it but to know you will be trying out a new restaurant at the end of the road made it all the more lovely. The Broken Whisk was Sadie's pick and it was a great one. Looking from the outside at the sign you don't expect that when you walk in you will see such cute and funky country western style décor. The background music was new country. As usual we were the first in line but there was a steady stream of customers behind. All Covid protocols were adhered to. This is a family style restaurant run by its owners Chef Michael and Ines Dicks. Ines was also our server. She is an absolute gem. One of those people who instantly make you feel special and so very welcome. She obviously loves her job. The lunch menu consisted of pub style food. Sadie ordered the Pioneer BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. She raved about it and actually said that this was her favorite meal so far in our travels. Deborah ordered the Iron Horse Alder Bacon Cheeseburger. She loved it and gave us each a tiny sample of the burger meat which was so good. Georgine ordered the Cod Burger and was very pleased with her choice. The fish fillet was huge and the batter excellent, perfectly crispy crunchy thin. There was enough for everyone to have a little taste of the fish. All the meals were served on these gorgeous soft potato buns with some great home fries. We are looking forward to going for another visit in the summer when they open up their deck up with their fireplace pizza oven. We imagined the view in the spring and summer when all the leaves burst open with the mountain backdrop and the quaint street fronts it is all very idyllic. Was in last night. I ordered the tex med poutine i recieved pulled pork, when i told thrm it was thr wrong order they took it back they threw on hamburger ( no flavoring)a dollop of sour cream and some chips and brought it back to me. When i told them again about the pulled pork, they said thats how it was. It was horrible. My husband had pasta, when ordering he asked ifvit came with any type of bread, she replied no! But it came with ceaser salad. When he received it no salad. It took for ever to get the bill, and than again forever to pay. We were out with friends, for my birthday. We were in a few weeks earlier, the service and food was awesome. Hence the reason we picked there. read more

We gave this place another shot tonight unfortunately. The first time was lackluster but this time was just brutal. We showed up just before 530 with a handful of tables occupied We figured we would likely do ok time wise. We sat for about 15 mins before anyone even acknowledged us. The host eventually came over to take our drink order. We placed a pretty simple uncomplicated order but asked if it was possible to get some fries early for our toddler to snack on. An hour later no one came by to ask if we'd like another drink. No fries. Our youngest is beyond restless. I finally tracked down a bus person to ask about the time line and she came back and said the time line is in a moment. 15 mins later still nothing. Finally the kids meals showed up. Cold. Not just Luke warm but cold. We left. Unbelievably terrible service. When we told them we were leaving we got a snotty k bye. We went down the road to cheam sushi where they were not only polite, reasonably quick, amazing food and our bill was likely half of what it would have been at the wisk. Save your money and 2 hrs of your time and go somewhere else. read more

The decor was fun but the food was absolutely outstanding. Both the price and portions were reasonable but the quality far exceeded my expectations. My husband and I stopped in for dinner. A nice lady took our order for our drinks, starter and meal. We waited patiently, despite the incredibly obnoxious woman seated behind us, for our starter to arrive. 35 minutes passed (I should be careful not to get the exact timeline wrong so the chef doesn't come to chew my head off again) and no starter. A different lady asked if my husband would like another drink, he said yes, hoping the food would arrive soon. 10 more minutes passed and still no drink or food. At this time, we still needed to drive out of town to get home. We stopped a different lady and explained we have waited an hour and still, no food, not even the starter. The lady apologized and said the bill would come for our drinks. 2 minutes later, another lady came with our starter and we said sorry but we need to go and another lady was getting our bill. Next thing you know, the chef with a stick up his a$$ came out of the back, flailing around our food order bill accusing us of lying that we had been waiting an hour for our food, pointed out that the order was placed at 7:22pm (it was 8:07pm at this point) and tossed our food order slip on the table and said don't pay and leave. I've heard stories about this man and I can tell you I will NEVER recommend this establishment to anyone. What a horrible human being he is and if he is an owner, I hope he reads this. The staff were lovely but this man is scum to treat patrons this way. Mr, you need to seek therapeutic help for your anger issues before you go open your mouth to the wrong person and they put you in your place.
