The most underrated brewery in the city. We came here on a whim and it was well worth it -- just a short walking distance from the Cypress Ave stop off the 6, the space is a hidden gem among the boroughs. I've been to a ton of breweries in Brooklyn and none compare to The Bronx Brewery's "no nonsense ales." The beer is amazing and the Summer Pale Ale is definitely my current favorite. The brews are creative without being over the top. A flight costs $12 for four cups -- highly recommend! -- and includes beer both on tap and in cans (this never happens)! The Steep Aside is a second best, the chamomile surprisingly works and isn't overpowering. Always give the seasonal options a try. The backyard seating is accessible through the brewery, which essentially means a free tour of where the magic happens, and opens up to an area with picnic tables and games, including corn hole. It also seems to be a popular spot to pregame before NYCFC games. After seeing everyone in jerseys, my boyfriend and I decided to go as well (a short Uber ride away). We will definitely be coming back and stocking up. P.S. the music was amazing too! The DJ they had (DJ Fuse, I believe?) was better than any DJ at a bar downtown. read more

Tonight decided to grab some drinks with friends and got to experience the outdoor yard it's some awesome music and great vibes. The truly nailed it with the cleaning station and practicing social distancing. We all arrived around 6:30pm and hanged out for a few hours trying out some of the cold brews and some of the empanadas which taste amazing. The Bronx Brewery held their very first Oktoberfest with and indoor/ outdoor party that was a beer lovers dream or a regular day for a German's liver! Situated a short 8 minute ride from Manhattan is the Bronx Brewery on a quiet street reminiscent of the Meat Packing District before it was sanitized. Pro's: The event was at the actual brewery which was super cool and the outdoor space was large enough to hold a large crowd without you stepping on anyone's foot in a mad rush to the bathroom! The bar was indoors and their featured pale ale was definitely worth bragging rights! Prices for the beer was reasonable and so were the pretzels. The outdoor was picturesque and the sh was pretty decent! Con's.....well it was their first run at Oktoberfest so it's more suggestions than con's More German music, a live German band, picnic tables outside, selling pitchers and you have your people wear lederhosen next year! Pre-pandemic 5 stars! (And I know it will be again after!) This was the last place our group of friends/family got together before the shutdown and we have been talking about going back since. But not providing a bathroom (port o potties are not a bathroom) with proper hand washing available during a pandemic is not okay. Neither is bartenders without masks, as we experienced last night. Great local place with great people and awesome beer that we'd love to continue to support in their outdoor space, but looks like it will be "take out only" until a proper bathroom option (with running water and soap) are available and staff complies with face coverings, as patrons were (appropriately) asked to do when moving around the space. read more

This is a cool place. Beer is good. Staff is friendly. Super proud to support business from the community. I saw the owner walking around a few times and I wish he went to every table to say hi. I wish there always also someone going to table to double check if there was any else they want to order since the bar was always full. The bartender were great. Kevin was helpful in my choices of beer. Everyone was friendly. The food were great. It took longer then what I expected since I just order empanadas. Definitely will go back. Last night was really fun, I've been meaning to come to the Bronx to visit some of the independent breweries out here but I always end up getting sidetracked waiting for folks to join me, but I finally made it out here last night for their No Resolutions IPA launch party. I'm not too keen on IPAs but as far as this particular IPA goes, it went down pretty smooth. I also had the pleasure of trying ten different beers, all listed below: ____________________________________________ No Resolutions IPA: a citrus pine IPA with notes of smokey tropical lemongrass. It was pretty good and had 7.6 ABV. Slow your roll: Also an IPA with tropical hops and a tart finish. 4.6 ABV. American Pale Ale: Notes of English biscuit and caramel?! This was delicious, but still not the star of the night for me. Although 6.3% ABV ain't bad! Rye Ale: A crisp orangey ale with bold rye and piney hops. Also 6.3% ABV. Spring Pale Ale: Citrus hops with black tea and chamomile tea flavors. This had a really nice taste and 5.7% ABV. Winter Pale Ale: A spiced Pale Ale with ginger, cloves and cinnamon - 6.7% ABV. I liked this one, but couldn't drink too much of it either. "Name this beer": A hazy, tangerine flavored IPA. So many IPAs. This wasn't a fave for me at all. Came off nice and citrusy on the tongue and then had a bitter finish and mouthfeel that I often associate with IPA. This is a "me" thing as I'm not a fan of IPAs....yep. 8.56% ABV, that's cool, lol. Belgian: Your classic Belgian-style Ale. 6.7% ABV. Not bad at all. Bronx Banner: At 4.8% ABV, this is a simple golden Ale. Easy to wash down, smooth and very simple notes. On the black: THIS WAS MY FAVE BEER OF THE NIGHT!! Although there wasn't a single stout or porter (my fave beers!) this was the closest I was gonna get - and I wasn't settling - it was truly delicious. I had 3-4 pints of these! It was a light Pale Ale with a very chocolatey finish. I really wish this beer were on tap in more places. At 5.7% ABV is was a perfect beer for me to session all night. ____________________________________________ The setup of this Brewery is pretty awesome. There is a restroom and 10 tap bar upon entering and then there were 2 other tasting areas as you went further inside. The bottling and canning facilities are available for viewing and I kept studying everything throughout the event. Free awesome sandwiches, hand rolled cigars being rolled to order (I got 2!), a fun animated and printed photo booth, a caricature artist on hand and an awesome DJ (and sound) really made this a fun night with friends. It's not a far walk from the train but it's also a great area to find parking and I'm grateful for my friend who drove us here from Flushing (our rendezvous point earlier). The staff here was super friendly, knowledgeable and really passionate about their beers. I'm looking forward to returning soon! read more

Everything we tried was amazing..fro m the cook cucumber taste of Das Bronx to the Rye..the latter my favourite. 9 beer on tap..seasonals...food truck style visiting pop ups in the back garden area and fantatic DJ. Parking was easy on the street and the area is quiet. We went home with a lot of cans..including the bitter..not available on tap. Personally I am a big fan of breweries especially when I get to go and try a load of their offerings. Brooklyn Brewery is quite well known now and on weekends it can be a long wait to get in the door. That led me to seek out other NYC brewers and I found Bronx Brewery located just three stops north of 125th street on the 6 line. The brewery is just 5 years old but is already making a name for itself. Getting off the subway and walking to the brewery, you will probably think you have gone the wrong way. It is located in a semi-industrial area on the other side of the I-278 overpass. However, forward-ho my fellow beer explorers because your liquid reward awaits you. The building is clearly marked and you enter through the tasting room. It is a cute space with a couple high tables, some barrel tables and a big booth. When we went, there were 9 beers on tap. I couldn't quite figure out their pricing scheme for flights because it seemed that ordering a full flight was wildly more expensive than it should have been. We settled to mix and match between the five of us and share the beer. The best beers we tried of the nine were the No Resolutions IPA and the Bronx Banner Ale. The other notable beer was the Das Bronx - an interesting sour that taste kind of like a dill pickle. None of the beers were especially amazing but lots of good solid brews. The day we came was rainy but they have an outdoor space and often bring in food vendors. I would happily return as well as look for their beer in stores around the tri-state area. read more

This is a great brewery in the Port Morris area of the South Bronx. They have a great selection of craft beer. I went in the summer of 2016 so they mostly had IPA's and ales. It has a great craft brewery atmosphere. There is a sitting area/beer garden in the back with picnic tables and corn hole boards. It has a great relaxing atmosphere with plenty of space to hang out with friends. There are also plenty of board games near the bar for anyone who wants to challenge their friends in a game of Jenga or connect four. It's good to see places like this open in the South Bronx as an effort to revitalize the area and bring tourists to a different place outside of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Hopefully more business open in the area. I would definitely return to try their darker beers. The beers aren't anything extraordinary, but are definitely on the crafty side. So stoked to have The Bronx Brewery so close to where I am living. It is located in a pretty industrial part of the Bronx, and is a quick walk from the Cypress Ave stop. The taproom is cozy, but has ample seating w/TVs for sports, etc. There is a big variety of beers to choose from, and I had the Slow Your Roll IPA, which incredibly, did just that. Haha. Very cool spot. It's located in an industrial area of the South Bronx which is quite isolated. I imagine it's exactly what Williamsburg used to look like before gentrification. My boyfriend bought a $20 voucher (for 2) off Amazon local which was awesome. We each had a flight (5 tastings each) plus a growler. We chose the Belgium beer. The bartenders were detailed in describing each type of beer amidst the chaos that was going on. There was a tequila event going on that Saturday unbeknownst to us, so we lucked out. It was very crowded though. I loved the space and will definitely come back. I was only disappointed with the food. They have limited items but the cheese pretzel I ordered was small and didn't look appetizing. If you have limited food items, at least make them look and taste good. I know it's a brewery but they should improve the quality of food they provide. Aside from that, cool brewery and I would like to revisit during the summer to check out the outdoor section. read more

After having tried a couple of their beers outside of NYC I definitely wanted to stop here and made a point of coming during my last trip to the city. I'm not familiar with the borough, but it's down in what I assume is the Motthaven area in a warehouse district and there's a train nearby. Take note that their hours are limited and they don't stay open past 7-8 pm unless there's an event. Pizza and small bites are served but we didn't eat. The taproom is small. There's only a few seats at the bar and a few small tables, but they have a big yard space around back. The walls have some pretty cool murals. The beer is really good though, and that's all you need to worry about. I had the Streetwise IPA, the Now Youse Can't Leave DIPA, the Que Milagro Lager, and the Built for This IPA, which I think is one of their top sellers. They had about 8-10 beers on tap. I'll try more next time. For a place with the slogan "No Nonsense Ales," the brewery holds true to that. It's very chill here and there was a small friendly crowd. What a fantastic place! I came here because of an Amazon local deal. If I remember correctly, it was $20 for a tour for two people, a flight of beers each, and a growler to take home with your favorite brew. Full price would've been $40, so it was a great deal! The staff is insanely friendly, funny, and provided great conversations. The front of this place is very much like a bar. There's comfy seating, games, and an overall great atmosphere. The back is where the tour takes place. It's a tour of the brewery, short and sweet. No dramatics or gimmicks like I've seen at other breweries. The location is a bit off the beaten path and hard to find, but can we really blame them? 10 minutes from a train station is nothing, we're in NYC here! It's nothing to penalize their ratings for. As for the beer, it was incredible! They have a good variety that can please beer lovers/experts and newbies alike. My favorite was the Belgian pale ale. Definitely give this place a try if you're into beers, breweries, or just a good time! read more

I have heard about this clandestine brewery and have consumed The Bronx Pale Ale for over a year. Yesterday friends invited me to check this place out. Although a few blocks away from the Cypress Avenue 6 train stop, I could not help but feel lost. There were no gaudy signs. The area is nondescript. As I got closer, I saw an open door indicating a tasting room. To the left is a small bar and the bartenders pour their few signature beers (more would be ready to drink next week). I enjoyed their Pale Ale, IPA, Rye and Habanero IPA. Straight ahead is the brewing equipment (it was a short self guided tour). Further ahead is the private back area, where there are picnic tables, foosball and corn hole. The Bronx Brewery is clean, has friendly staff and most importantly good beer. Welcome to the hood! So I come in to bronx brewery to order takeout. I placed my order with the "bartender." We saw a couple of orders come out from the kitchen, but didnt assume it was mine. When 2 mins later the bartender tells me she gave my order to someone else. Its frustrating because this is not the only incident Ive had with this establishment, but the love and loyalty to them brings me back. This nailed it for me. How careless can you be to not even check the order before giving it to someone. So we had to wait an additional 20 mins for my order to be done. Am I supposed to smile after this?
