I came here on a Saturday afternoon and tours weren't given on that day because of a private event. I recommend calling ahead if that was your plan. We ended up with flights of beers. Majority of their selection were IPAs. Seating was limited but you can drink anywhere. We walked through the open brewery and there was a spacious outdoor area in the back with a huge tent. I could see it being a nice place to hang out in warmer seasons. I also got an empanada from Empanology truck which was pricey but delicious. I thought it was worth stopping by. read more

Pandemic 2020 review The tap room is closed, but the Bronx Brewery is still selling beers to go, just order in advance on the website. Like many other breweries they sell 4 packs of 16 ounce beers, (which is only 8 oz less than a standard 6 pack). The beers were great, the City Island Sour IPA was my favorite. So drinkable and refreshing, really the perfect beer in my opinion. I also enjoyed The 6 Gose to Cypress sour gose and World Gone Hazy IPA, both excellent beers. The colorfull cans were designed by up an coming artists, which I think is a fantastic way to support the arts. Excellent brewery, I highly recomend a visit and look forward to my inevitable return. read more

The beer and vibes in this place are pretty cool but I'm not a fan of the food. The empanadas are tiny and flavor wise not the best. The chopped cheese fries are okay, too cold for my liking maybe bc it has too much sauce, I did enjoy the chicken but my bf hated it saying it was too dry bc they double fry it and put that sauce on the side- I am one of those people that likes dry meats so I didn't mind it. Come for drinks but skip the food? Or just be like me, always come for drinks and each time try a different food item in hopes one is a winner. read more

For someone that really doesn't drink a lot of beer I go to a lot of beer events. Weird. So stop reading here if you love beer 'cause I can't review the beer. This is a review of the facilities. There's a yard out back... I'm not expecting anything fancy, but they should have done it up a bit for their Oktoberfest. From my experience, balloons go a long way. Just a suggestion. Okay, I have a balloon fetish and I'll put balloons on everything if you let me. The tap room... Flies. So many flies. You know those restaurant grade bug zappers. It would be a good idea to get one. I was swatting at flies the entire time. The ac strip at the seating was a plus. Being able to charge your phone in any bar type establishment is always a good thing. I will review one drink they offer: the non-alcoholic Lemon Coffee Soda. SO bizarre upon the first sip, but it grows on you. Challenging enough for anyone who's a weirdo like me who doesn't like beer. Final suggestion... if Bronx Brewery came out with a hard soda, I would be so on board with that. This place is awesome. The vibe is so cool. The food is AMAZING. The drinks are excellent. Really cool crowd. I highly recommend this spot. I got the fried chicken sandwich with the sweet thai chili sauce and it was SO GOOD I could not believe it. The fries were excellent as well. My friend got two bourbon burgers and loved them as well. We came yesterday and I was so glad to eat indoor because it was raining. We preferred the Korean chicken sandwich and it was very good but our bread got soggy so maybe I will tell them go easy on the sauce next time. We had the Cajun fries which were amazing. We had the four empanadas the pizza, chopped cheese, vodka and the California. We liked the pizza and the chopped cheese. I did not like the California empanada it was too much and the vodka I did not really taste the flavor of the filling. The pizza and chopped cheese were amazing. I also want to try the lobster one next time I go back. My niece ordered the cubanita which was good. I really liked their food and service. I drank their hard seltzer as it was ok; I did not taste the grapefruit flavor. I am willing to try other beers and the service was amazing. The waiter was so nice friendly and informative. He knew a lot about the items and gave us samples. I will definitely be back to try other items and it is family friendly, my mom and niece who are the hardest critics enjoyed this place very much and actually loved it and want to go back. read more

I was first introduced to tasty beer from Bronx Brewery at an event in September. This brewery is situated in a middle of nowhere, and not very easy to get to. It was kind of strange or surprising to find a brewery at this kind of, well, isolated spot. They have a nice bar with seating to the left of entrance. It was bright with natural lights coming in from lots of windows. They had several seating at the bar, few seating with barrel tables, and some more seating by the window. It is not a big space, maybe up to 20 seats or less total in this are. We went on Sunday, around 1pm. It was not so busy, maybe around 6-8 people there, drinking, relaxing, chilling with family and friends. The reason for our weekend visit was because they offer free brewery tours on the weekends. We tried to make it before their first scheduled tour time at 1:30pm. However, there were no one else there wanting a tour other than us, so the female staff told us that she can just take us back there and give us a tour whenever we are ready. The tour was interesting, and the equipment area was very clean and organized. She was nice enough to take us to the outdoor seating out back just so that we can see what it is like. They had many picnic tables and sunbrellas at the corner of the lot. It must be awesome during the Summer here. Speaking of awesome, they had really nice, vibrant mural on the wall facing the outdoor seating area. As for the beer, their philosophy is to do one thing and do it right. What is that one thing? Pale Ale! They are there to push the limits of what a pale ale can be. I like light beer, so I enjoyed their pale ale. They also have some snacks, but kind of pricey. If you prefer, you are allowed to bring in your own food, or even get delivery from local restaurants! read more

Went to the Bronx Brewery with friends for the comedy show and had a great time. The comedians were funny. The workers are really nice and friendly. The food was really good, the empanadas are definitely a must try. Especially the Californication and Red Velvet ones. Wasn't expecting the Red Velvet ones to be as tasty as it was since it's in an empanada but it was amazing! The beers were tasty also, a lot of different choices. There were two things I wasn't crazy about which is why I only gave the Bronx Brewery 4 stars. The bathroom is porta potties located on the left side of the entrance. Also the area doesn't feel safe when you leave late. The place is located under the train station and it's very isolated. Mostly factories and empty lots. read more

My friend and I came here after a walking trail in van cortlandt park. The outdoor space is located near 136st and when you enter and keep right to the outside door bar . We ordered our beer at the station and to order food you have to order at the bar also.You can download the Full Menu itself and get food ;you tell the bartender your order and you get a pager when your order is done. We got the Vegan beef cheese, which we split in half , its like a impossible burger , comes w/ cheddar cheese, caramelize onions , arugula and aioli sauce. It's pretty good and we both finished the sandwich. We stayed for about an hour on a Friday night. I'm guessing on the weekends here you may be waiting for a table if you come on the afternoon. Your seating down on nice wooden picnic benches underneath the Amtrak trains running above you while you dine outside. They do accept cash here also . Bathrooms are located in the front on the left as you come in. There's no waitress service so everything is basically walked up and order . I'm a bit of a beer nut and I have to say that their beer is really good.  So good that I wanted to serve it at my offspring's high school auction which is a CHARITY EVENT.  Especially after I caught a local supermarket selling it for sixteen bucks a case.  But believe me, however great their beer is, these are not warm and fuzzy people at this brewery.    I checked the stock at the supermarket and sadly there was none left.  I did a search and found some but an hour away in Edison in a place called New Jersey.  So I contacted the brewery and told them that I was donating it to the school's PTA for the event.  BIG MISTAKE!   It meant to them that I have unlimited money to spend if I could donate!  Èven worse,  I said I'd be happy with paying the sixteen dollar full retail price which the supermarket was charging for the case., So if they'd sell it to me, they could keep the distributor's profit as well as the supermarket's profit!   All I was asking was not to have to shlep to the other end of this New Jersey place to get it at that perfectly fair price.   The lady at the other end of the email said I could pick it up and even threatened me with some small discount when I said I wanted 4 or five cases!    Only later did I find out what the brewery means by their somewhat eccentric use of the word "discount".  So I shlepped all the way up there (wel ok it is actually only fifteen minutes from me) and tried to buy five cases.  They were extremely happy to sell it to me.  Not because I was proposing to introduce their beer to large numbers of new potential patrons. But because they seriously proposed charging me fifty bucks a case for it!  As in here's your bill,   Amex? That'll be two hundred and fifty dollars! Please sign here,  quick.   Before anyone notices what we have just done? I asked to cross check as I had only been told that their retail price is normally charged at a maximum of $25 a case . I don't realize that a small discount means we will charge YOU around 400% of what you can buy it for, elsewhere.  Nope, after confirming with someone on the phone. That's the price. Take it or leave it. (the person with whom you corresponded isn't àt this location) But by that time there wasn't time to go elsewhere; and they might have known this (from the auction fliers I had sent them) that I only had a few days to get the beer. So I decided to reduce the order to țwo cases and hi-tail it out of there. Before they started politely requesting the shirt off my back for having the temerity to want to donate their beer to our school auction.  EPILOGUE: the next day I found other beer at the same supermarket.  Not as good but certainly enough.  So I wrote to the Bronx Brewery asking meekly if we could get a refund if we brought back their outrageously priced cases. (I may not have utilised that exact wording in my missive) After all, it was a charity event and they didn't seem to be concerned that I introduce anyone to their brewery?   I didn't get any response. read more

covid review: if you put the address in your GPS, make sure to go around the block. the entrance to the beer garden is there. free street parking. there are about 10 tables outside, bathrooms are outside and theres a hand washing station. you can have a friend sit at the table, while you head up to the kiosk to order drinks. they carry their beer, a few locals, wine, and have a small full bar. i love their beer and the artwork on the cans. prices are normal for brews, about 7.00. dont forget to order some food! i highly suggest any of the empanadas. they serve 4 for $11 which is a damn steal. this aint yo mamas tradtional carne or queso empanadas, they are innovative and fill ya up. theyre small, but jam packed with the goods. dont forget to get the red velvet tres leches empanada also! end your meal right! ive had the vegan chopped cheese sandwhich too. my complaint? way too messy. i was COVERED in the sandwhich and the cheese. the bun is pretty and tastes good, but it doesnt stand a chance to hold in any of the meal. the cheese and "meat" pair perfectly together. its priced steep, at $14 ( i believe it was 14, maybe 11), but its a good thing to try once! A good option for us who dont eat meat. this brewery is so damn cool - i love the atmopshere and the music. i cant wait to actually check it out inside when things open! read more

Cool brewery kinda industrial area of da Bronx. Got lots of good beers to choose from, all in house brews. The tasting room could be a little more brighter as they're not to many windows but they do have a a nice back area outside which is amazing! The back area is always open during the weekend but last time I was there it was actually closed off since they were brewing at that time and you need to walk through the brewery to actually get there. All and all, fun place to stop by here and there, especially on a nice day so you can utilize that back area. read more

Great hoppy , citrus beers . The beers they have here all are unique. One of my many favorites was "summer" a lemon peel citrus hop. Finally made it to this brewery, I have had a lot of Bronx Brewery American Pale Ales at different event and bars around New York City. It is great to see this destination brewery with my own eyes. Now, this area is industrial location in the South Bronx. Driving would be the best way to get here but our group of three decided to take the subway which is very doable with a ten minute walk from the 6 Train stop. As you approach and enter this large industrial facility, there is tasting room to the left and straight ahead to go into the brewery. If you go through the brewery area, there is a large outdoor space. It's December now so it is definitely off-season for this outdoor location but I was told by the Brooklyn Brewery staff and tour guide, Kate that it is a great space on a summer weekend. They are food trucks and live music. I definitely need to come back and check it out. They offer free tours of the brewery on the weekend. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon so we had a private tour because we were the only new arrivals at tour time. Kate explained very succinctly and efficiently the brewing process and more about Bronx Brewery. Bronx Brewery stated in 2011 but it only opened this brewery location in 2014 after a few years of renovation woes, thanks Hurricane Sandy. If you check-in with Yelp, you get $1 off a pint after your tasting. We took advantage of this discount which was much appreciated. We decided to eat before we arrived but there is a good selection of small appetizer types of food such as prosciutto ($10), pretzels ($6) and toketti ($6). The toketti are Sardinian style flatbread chip-type munchies. For the beer, we tried plenty of brews. We ended up with three different pints. The Rye Pale Ale was our first selection a crisp, golden-orange pale ale with rye and piney hops. The other two selections were the seasonal brews, Winter and Bogsmash. The Winter Pale Ale is an amber colored pale ale brewed with cinnamon, molasses, cloves and ginger that has a spiced the flavor. The Bogsmash Pale Ale is a fall brew with cranberries with a subtle tart aftertaste. A few of my friends have personally recommended this location so I am happy to have made it to this location. read more

We came here on a dreary Saturday just to chill out. Bronx Brewery was on our list since Brooklyn is always overcrowded and filled with transplants from Ohio looking for "craft" beer, and I was not willing to wait on that hipster filled line. Bronx Brewery was a bit of a trek for this Brooklyn-native, but I was happy to nap on the subway to taste their IPA's, their pale-ale's being their specialty/start. I had not had their beer before (they started up about 3/4 years ago, we learned on the tour) so I was quite excited to give a shot. The tasting room is a cool area with seating being booth-style, or metal stools around barrels. On the wall next to the bar is their merchandise - winter hats, caps, t-shirts, soccer scarves, etc. The beer itself is standard at $5-7/pint, with a $1 off pint with a Yelp check-in (woot woot!). The bartenders are nice and will bring you on a quick 15 minute tour if you're game (how {their} beer is made, the story of IPAs, etc.). Overall, I enjoyed the tour and seeing their facilities - it wasn't a long or huge tour like other breweries I've been to (eg. Magic Hat), but it does have some charm to it being a smaller brewery. We tried two of the flights that covered 8 beers. We weren't wowed by many of them, to be honest, but the one's that stood out to me were the No Resolutions IPA and the Smoked Porter. I liked the balance of bitter from the hops, and the sweetness of the malt in the NRI, and the porter had a rich taste that you would expect. I wasn't inclined to bring anything home, but felt good about visiting the brewery. read more

Love it! Brought about 30 members of my beer club here on a cold Saturday afternoon and we had a blast. The two bartenders were awesome and friendly. It was also nice to get to sample some beers that I haven't had before...their Pale Ale is everywhere but they do some experimenting on other beers (including one infused with sage) and that was great. The place itself is very easy to get to and the bar area is very welcoming and warm, although not that big. I can't wait for warm weather when the garden is open. Additionally, the tour that Andreas provided was fun and informative. Not only did we learn about the brewery and the beer making process but also about the history of the building. They don't have a lot of food available but it was easy to get pizzas delivered. Five stars for Bronx Brewery! read more

I had a blast here! The bartenders were amazing. They were very engaging with not only myself as a tourist but everyone at the bar. CHRISTINE was my favorite. She says cheers to everyone as she hands them their drink. The smell of fresh pizza, hot popcorn and pretzels was mesmerizing. I had a flight and it did not disappoint. My favorite was Holy Mother of Citrus and Que Milagro though again, they were all great. The crowd was diverse and friendly, music was perfect for me. If you want to hang with obnoxious hipsters from Massachusetts and Ohio, then maybe you will like this place. Its not just about the beer or the food with BXB and Empanology. This place is truly about the community that it literally serves. They partner with many local businesses who then go out into the community to make it better place than the day before. BXB/Empanology is a perfect example of a local business not trying to establish itself by imposing, but by keeping the culture and making it the Bronx more beautiful than it already is. Oh yeah! And their beer is absolutely phenomenal and the empanadas are the best in the city! If you are thinking about heading over/ordering, you've thought too long. After sampling their beers on tap in various places throughout New York, I really wanted to actually go. We were able to uber there easily from Yankee Stadium. It made me feel really good that investment is being made in the South Bronx. I liked how their place was buzzing. The crowd is exciting who goes there. I met people from all over the Tri-state area, as well as right from the Bronx. Their beers are much better than the national brands. They have a range of different types. Although I couldn't find one that wowed me, I still enjoyed my time very much. Apparently they will be expanding their outside area for this summer.
