Honestly just get the bear size or whatever it's called. Totally worth it. Quick attentive service. We weren't even too hungry a we split a burger and went with the suggestion of upgrading to a bear size. Holy cow it's big... black and blue burger. Cooked pretty damn good. On a quality bun.

Food was excellent and service was fast. It was our first time there the only feedback I would recommend is making it clearer that you have to put your own name on the list which is a white board on the wall. Given it was our first time we had no idea if we had to seat ourselves or wait, we eventually did ask and the staff member then pointed us to the white board.

I recommend their olive burger--have friends who drive here from all over the state for them.

Crispy and tasty cod fillets, served with fries, tartar sauce and cole slaw, although I was not too fond of the slaw. It's wasn't bad, and I can definitely say I've had worse, it just wasn't very flavorful. The layout of the restaurant is kind of different, like an 'L' shape, and there aren't that many tables indoors, but I think it is due to the majority of their business is the summer/warmer months and people are dining on the deck... and with that said, I would definitely enjoy dinner on the deck. Our waitress was very nice, attentive and not overbearing, although it took her a while to get to our table and the restaurant didn't seem to be very busy... but the host who sat us made sure we got our drinks and menus, so they get points for thinking on their feet and the team effort.

Even though we're locals, we'd actually never eaten there because we've been told not to. We decided to give it a go. Not only did a meal for just two people with one appetizer cost $100 with tip. The food was absolutely horrible. I just had a plain chicken sandwich that literally should've been no more than 12 bucks. My husband had the Italian white fish dish and it was disgusting. He had a bone in his fish and it was basically just a bunch of Parmesan cheese on top of a piece of fish. The fish still had its bloodlines in it, so it was not exactly the tastiest either. His mashed potatoes tasted like all they used was pepper. Thankfully, I can say the french fries and onion rings were delicious and that was it. The water even tasted absolutely awful. Thankfully the service wasn't bad. The atmosphere was so so. I feel like we wasted so much money for absolutely nothing and I can say we will never go there again.

Then, you pick up your bag of food at a little window outside, and then find a place to eat outside or take it home or to your hotel or wherever. If you're dining during decent weather, you can take your food to one of the tables located in the plaza. So, now you know how Keeper's Fish Shack works. Hopefully, I've saved you from sounding like a bozo like me, when I said, "This is a to-go order" when you order. Because duh. All of the orders are to-go orders. I ordered the blackened North Pacific Cod Tackle Box. Tackle Boxes come with fries, hush puppies, coleslaw and sauce. The fish was very tender and flaky, and the spices they used were just spicy enough to give it oomph. The hush puppies are a definite must-order, and I say this as a person who has neutral feelings about hush puppies. My husband got the Fried Shrimp Tackle Box, and he said that the shrimp were perfectly fried: not too much batter. They have a kids menu here: your choice of fried cod bites or chicken tenders. We got one of each, and my kids really liked them, especially the cod bites with a little tartar sauce. The kids meals come with apple sauce and fries, but no drink. When you go into the shack to order, look to your right and you'll see refrigerators with lots of different beverages, including local Michigan beer in cans. It was nice to drink a local beer while enjoying our fish meals outside in the plaza. When we visited, the farmers market was happening in that same plaza and there was live music, too. That's the best way to experience fish at the beach, if you ask me.

The food was served quickly and piping hot. I got the fried perch tackle box. I really wanted to add a piece of another fish like blackened mahi mahi, but they declined. With my tackle box and my husband's, the total was upwards of $50. The portions were small, especially the fries for that price. With it being a walk up restaurant, you aren't paying for service. While the food was good, I probably won't make a second trip.
