This is one of the bars we frequent regularly, but surprisingly, this is my first time leaving a review. We ended our Santa Monica evening here tonight and had another good experience. I can honestly say that we've never had bad service. After reading some of the reviews, I guess we've been pretty fortunate because our experiences have always been positive. I actually appreciate the security team for helping ensure everyone stays safe, and they've always been friendly and professional with us. The bar has plenty to enjoy, including a pool table, fireplaces, and various games. The bartenders are organized and efficient. Don't expect a lot of engagement, as they're typically very busy, especially when the place gets crowded. Tonight, we had no problem finding a seat, and other guests were very accommodating about sharing space. Overall, it was a great night and a wonderful way to wrap up our evening in Santa Monica. Tips: It can get noisy, but hey go in with that expectation and you'll be fine. Expect the ladies restroom to have a line, It's a 2 stall. Finally, regarding street parking follow the times of payment, they do ticket. read more

WARNING: They require you to have your photo taken before you go into the bar. Yes, they checked my driver's license and I am over 21. I asked for my photo to not be taken, they said I can't go in unless I have my photo taken. This isn't the TSA. I am not sure where my photo is being stored. Will they sell my photo to some data broker? Are they collecting photos of faces to be sold to an AI company? Who knows. No thanks, I walked off. Not impressed. read more

Wow, I am finally old enough to get into this spot that you have to go to when you're in your 20s, what I was told growing up. It's supposed to be the place, the bungalow to meeting new people and sipping on good drinks on a buzz. In reality, it was an absolute buzz-kill. I didn't see any hot individuals in their mid-20s like myself. The crowd was all working business people at 9PM on a Friday night. I wanted to have a sexy and fun time! Anyways, the drinks were overly priced and tasted so bad. I had one sip and left The Bungalow without a refund. For two drinks were $50. The Bungalow has opted to do a very terrible rebrand and change its entire business model. This was a very chill fun beach bar. It is now a completely and totally different bar. Their new security and dress code is a massive deviation of how this place used to be. Their social media page once tried an absurd cover charge fortunately this ended.. I feel Customer service has taken a downward spiral. It is simply crazy that a picture of my prior ID a DMV print out and my prior review simply didn't matter to security. After a holiday party at the Fairmont, a few of us came here for a post-drink. I have always heard about how all the finance bros come here but I ain't in my 20's anymore. The space is cool with a lounge vibe though. I liked the cozy fireplace and couch setup, which was nice. But the drinks were expensive with 5 basic drinks being over $100. read more

If I could, I would put zero stars. The bouncers were mean were they even bouncers? I think they hired the guy upstairs for free in turn for rent. He was mean and rude. I tried having a conversation with the bouncer, and he was so rude and inconsiderate. The drinks were not swell and cost too much. The vibe was also not swell. read more

By far one of the worst bar experiences I've had at The Bungalow. The entire situation was disorganized, misleading, and the staff were incredibly rude for no reason. We were forced to scan a QR code to "buy" tickets that were literally free, which already felt pointless and poorly managed. Then we waited outside for over 30 minutes and the line did not move at all. Not a single person was let in. Meanwhile, friends inside told us it wasn't crowded and we could literally see people leaving. It honestly felt like they were keeping people outside on purpose just to create a fake line for exclusivity and hype. Being told they were "at capacity" felt like a straight-up lie. What made it worse was the staff attitude. When I asked to use the bathroom, one staff member told me to use the hotel lobby. When I tried, another staff member aggressively yelled at me and said I couldn't. Overall it felt chaotic, poorly run, and disrespectful to guests' time. No other bars in Santa Monica or Venice do this, so I'm honestly not sure who they think they're competing with. I had only been once before on a Thursday when it wasn't crowded and it seemed like it could be a fun weekend spot, but after this experience I won't be going back. read more

Difficult to find parking. There was metered parking for $2.50 an hour until 2am. They were located adjacent to the Fairmont Hotel with entrance on Wilshire Blvd. Apparently, after sunset you have to scan a QR code and pay $50 to get in. After you fill out your information, you get a QR code in the email to enter. They check IDs and have security checks. They give you 2 tickets, each worth a drink, so essentially you're paying $25 a drink. Unfortunately, the drinks were not good. The outside bar was pretty crowded. The music was too loud for a conversation. There was a mix age population. The staff were rude. The security at the exit was the only nice staff. Would rather go to the Bungalow in Huntington Beach. read more

Few great people giving this place as good vibes as it can have. Paul & Julius are great, kind, professional hardworking gentlemen that deserve recognition. I hope that they remain and feel valued by their employers. They make the Bungalow a better place. Sergio, the new security manager at the hotel, is already disliked by his coworkers and has an insane power trip. He's disrespectful, aggressive, and hostile. I can't stand this guy. They had a security detail that has been cleared out, which is very unfortunate considering how nice and professional they were. read more

Overcharged. Over priced. Unfriendly staff. I ordered a burger. I asked the waitress if I could add bacon. "Yes," she replied. I received my burger without any bacon. I told the busboy I asked for bacon and asked to have it added. He said they don't have bacon. Not a big deal. The waitress must've made a mistake. Checked the bill later to realize I was charged for bacon. Add $3 to my $25.00 burger. The waitress was not friendly. Bad service. Very disinterested. If you don't like customer service, I highly recommend it here. If you're lucky, you might even get charged for food that you didn't receive. read more

Just have to say my group last minute picked Bungalow to start our night and we sat down at the bar with Ruben. He was not only such an obviously professional and experienced bartender but he was so kind and genuine. His service alone elevated the already iconic spot to a very refined-feel. He knew when we needed to order another drink before we even got the words out and would immediately come over to ask what he could do. 10/10 experience read more

I came here with friends on a friday night and it was a great time! The drinks are on the pricier side, but not unreasonable. The beers are $10 dollars for a 12oz can and the service staff were fine. They have a pool table and a ping pong table, but when I went the paddles and ping pong balls were nowhere to be found. The pool table room has a nice table, but most of the cues were damaged, but it is definitely playable. There is no chalkboard or anything, so it gives you the opportunity to talk with the people on the room to determine who's next. read more

This used to be our favorite bar. Now they charge $50 just to get in and you have to have a reservation. Very weird as it's just a bar scene with an outdoor dj. Hopefully they revert back to what all the other bars do, which is no cover. Whoever made that $50 decision really fumbled the bag. read more

Not a place I would regular. But it is still a neat spot. I went on New Year's Eve last year and they were giving out free drinks. There is a parking garage very close that is free for 2 hours I think and then super cheap after that. I've never paid more than $4 to park there for long periods of time. read more

For my birthday, i was recently going on a restaurant crawl. The Bungalow was one of the places where i went and enjoyed my time there. It was not very crowded at the moment, but the room was beautifully maintained. The view is second to none with no blockage to view the ocean and greater Santa Monica/Malibu areas. The service was very good; i just came for a beer, so i was not able to assess the food. BUT, this restaurant has all the makings of a great experience and strongly recommend that you try this. read more

Disappointing experience. We waited in line for hours with no clear communication from the staff. It felt unorganized and poorly managed. If you're going to make people wait that long, at least be transparent about the wait time or offer some kind of update. Definitely not worth it -- there are better places with better service. read more

The afterparty took place at The Bungalow, which has both an indoor area and an outdoor patio. There were no signs or warnings about bracelets or restricted access--people freely moved between both spaces. While I was inside, a security guard approached me, asked about a bracelet that was never given at the entrance, and without any explanation immediately started pushing me out, yelling "get f***ing out." The unclear rules and aggressive behavior completely ruined the experience. The venue should provide clear instructions, issue bracelets at the entrance, and ensure staff communicate respectfully. read more

Ahhh, the famous Bungalow... The one establishment where reputation and tradition always follow. I often hear about how well decorated it is, the good music and yes, you get to rub shoulders with the city's elite while inside. Since I never got in, what follows is a review of the OUTSIDE only: The asphalt on the ground seemed well manicured. The landscaping seemed top notch. The sky was beautiful. Upon arrival, around 10:30pm, there was a well established and organized waiting line of approximately 20 people ahead of me. Not even 15 minutes later the line grew by at least 50 people. At around 10:50pm, a good looking and well dressed older female staff with dark glasses made an announcement that "there was no line". Suddenly, the well organized line dissolved in to a huge blob of people standing behind the entry rope and the security. People that were last in line suddenly got in front of the security rope before myself and everyone else that was already waiting for almost 30 minutes. By 11:00pm there must have been 80 to 100 people in this disorganized blob. The older female staff with dark glasses then began to arbitrarily choose who got inside the Bungalow. Often by using her indicator finger. Some people who had just arrived were allowed in with no delay while the rest of us looked at each other in disbelief of what was happening. Many patrons asked the front security bouncer, a thin fellow with long hair why this was happening and his answer was "We are at capacity"... and just as he said that, more people were being randomly picked (by indicator finger of course) to go inside. By 11:20pm, I had resigned from the idea that I was special. From here on, I just watched in fascination and tried to conduct my own unscientific study about how their selection process works. By 11:40pm, I decided that my unscientific studies were going nowhere and that a Nobel prize was out of question. By 11:45, I left the "blob" completely humiliated. After reflecting on this situation, I realize that I am at fault for expecting to be welcomed into someone else's home without an invitation. I missed the hint... which was the announcement that "there was no line"... despite the absolute obvious. Not all Bungalows are created equal: as someone who's frequently visited the other Bungalow locations (Huntington Beach and Long Beach) and thoroughly enjoyed them, the Santa Monica spot was a HUGE disappointment. It has a borderline dangerous environment, particularly for a young female. It was insanely overcrowded, the staff was super unfriendly and not to mention my phone was stolen from me and it seemed to be a recurring issue there. Totally get it's LA and things happen but I would generally recommend avoiding this spot in the future. read more

Super amazing place with a house party type feel! The drinks while they were good, were extremely pricey but that might just be due to the area and type of place that it is. Service was good despite them being extremely busy so I definitely appreciated that. Mind you, this place was filled to the brim with people so it did make it a bit hard to navigate through the space but once you find an empty couch or room, you're set! I did enjoy how they had both and inside and outdoor space and a bar inside and outside as well so it helped cut the traffic to both spots well enough if anything. It was a very unique vibe and I'd be happy to check it out again if anything! read more

location: adjacent to the fairmount hotel parking: hotel valet or street metered parking service: nothing special but staff wasn't rude or obnoxious to us bathroom: they have a women's and men's bathroom in separate areas of the main building. In addition, they had one of those nicer portable bathroom areas near the outdoor entrance what we ordered: * modelo ($10) * lemon drop shots ($17 each) vibes: when we went on a Friday night, it did get quite loud and crowded after 10pm. decor was 10/10 main takeaway: drinks were alright, but very overpriced. you're definitely paying for the atmosphere and the vibes. when my friends and I visited, they had a cool holiday theme and I liked how it felt like you were walking around a big house party. the crowd skewed mostly college students and early 20s. read more

Love this spot. The energy is fantastic and I love the ambiance compared to many other bars in LA/Santa Monica. Drinks are roughly $16 each which is typical for LA but would likely shock anyone from out of town. Never tried the food here, but this spot is known more for its nightlife. read more

The waitress appeared intoxicated and started arguing with and yelling at one of our guests because she left her coat on a chair while she was dancing. Her behavior was aggressive and extremely unprofessional. On top of that, the bartender overcharged us, and the DJ played music that was difficult to dance to all night. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and unfortunately not a place we would return to.

You come here to grab quick drinks when you don't feel like being at a loud dive bar in the area, it's in a hotel but not too upscale, no strict dress code. Music is not loud and they have couches and booth if bar table if not your thing, you don't have to yell or pretend you hear everything to hold a conversation here (lol). ** Keep in mind 20% gratuity is automatically included in bill, it's my first time here. But I think I've other spots I'd prefer to be in, even at Santa Monica. The food is definitely on the expensive side, but the quality is generally very good. The standouts were the Proper Breakfast, acai bowl, shakshuka plate, and breakfast burrito. These felt thoughtfully prepared and satisfying. The salmon bagel was just okay and didn't quite justify the price. I also had a smoothie that was very good, but at $20, it felt hard to fully justify ordering again. I was especially interested in trying their Cowboy Cold Foam coffee, but unfortunately it wasn't available during our visit. We also ordered takeout for dinner, and that experience was strong overall. The mushrooms and onion soup dip was excellent and one of the highlights. The Caesar salad and vodka pasta were decent but not particularly memorable. Overall, La Palma delivers a great atmosphere, strong breakfast options, and high-quality food, though pricing is definitely premium across the board. It's worth visiting, especially if you're staying at the Proper Hotel or want a beautiful place to relax, work, or enjoy a leisurely breakfast.

The place has been around for years and most of their food is just great. It has a full bar and a separated bar area which is so cute, but gets super crowded and loud. Eat in the dinning room. The place is older and could use a refresh, but it is cute and always super clean. The service is very nice. They will take good care of you. They have a nice selection of beer on tap. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their breakfast is really tasty and they make great eggs. I don't care for black pudding so I never get it. They have great hot and cold sandwiches and wonderful salads. They are famous for their fish and chips. They are some of the best. They are perfectly deep fried and the chips are great. I also get a side of mashed because it is so good. I also had a pasty, which is not on the menu, and I was super disappointed, so I won't do that again. They used to be great. I love their hot beef sandwich and often get that for lunch. There is something for everyone here. Parking is a bear, but you might find a place on the street or their is a paid lot across the street. You can walk to the Santa Monica Pier from here or to the beach. We will be back again and again.

As a frequent imbiber of libations when the workday is done, I fancy myself a connoisseur of the watering holes in the vicinity of my domicile. Recently at the end of a particularly grueling day in this race chock full of rats we call employment, I said to myself "Well Captain" ( I call myself Captain when I'm acutely aggrieved) "I believe we have earned ourself an hour that is happy. To the nearest saloon as fast as your wearied legs can carry you!" Now when the captain gives an order, the crew must obey, so I assembled my various accoutrements double quick in my attache case given to me by late father, bid my assistant Henry adieu and a pleasant evening, and sallied forth into the wind swept alleys and avenues of St. Monica's city in search of relief. Oh Henry, your desk is tidy and your work is well done, but there's sadness in your eyes. I should've invited you along to unburden your soul and enjoy the company of men, but I find solace in my loneliness and the only confederate I sought was a robust 26 year old by the name of Glenfiddich. As the heavenly orb had yet to tuck herself into the blanket of the endless Pacific, I decided a fitting scrim for my relief would be in the out of doors. I removed my hand-computer from my Spencer coat and searched "Santa Monica drinkery where one may enjoy the eternal battle of the dying day's apricots, lavenders, and cardinals with accommodations fit for at least a Baron and service fit for at least an Earl" Though the mysteries of the universe are now contained in our hands, my search yielded no satisfactory results. "Ah Captain, you live in this world, but not this age!" I laughed, depositing my hand-computer back to its proper place in my Spencer coat. Looking up, I encountered a vagabond perched on a cement partition with a coarsely made sign which read "$$$ for feed and weed (mostly weed)" As a gentleman, I am not one to engage with the coarser elements I encounter as I believe we have been born into this beehive: a drone a drone, a worker a worker, and a queen a queen. But this rapscallion had caught me unawares with his mirth and I decided to query him. "My good man, I see our horticultural vices have diverged, as you seek the comforts of cannabis, and this evening's pleasures for me entail a glass of malted barley, not distilled corn, mind you, as I was raised to view bourbon as the refuge of pilferers and porch-climbers. Now before I lose the thread of this tartan and you and I are ankle deep in yarn like some defrocked scotsman, I must ask, where may a gentleman of means enjoy a cold glass, a warm hearth, and the comfort of friends? Now before you reply, I assure you there will be suitable recompense for your counsel and confidence, as I have never been one who follows the flights and fancies of Monsieurs Marx or Engels. While my pockets are not so deep as some, they are neither shallow enough to notice a few fish missing. Would a few greenbacks featuring General Washington be suitable for your time and effort?" "Bungalows next door, they won't let me in but fuck 'em, I piss on their wall every night" "Ah, so it is and so you do!" I honored my promise and peeled the agreed upon amount from my monogrammed pearl inlaid money clip and deposited his fee into a waiting and grateful hand. Our transaction complete, I tipped my chapeu to his health and good fortune, took a mental note to inform the management of his nocturnal excretions on their edifices and made my way to the threshold of The Bungalow. Having filed my report with the polite valet at the entrance of the bungalow, I took my place at the bar. No sooner had I removed my Spencer coat, when a raven haired gentleman of confidence and poise approached me. "Can I get you something?" "In due time, first your hand and your name, for I never drink alone and I never drink with strangers. "My name is Ruben." "Like the great artist! Well hopefully your drinks are as endowed as the figures in the master's paintings! My good Ruben, if I gave you my Christian name, you would treat me as a Christian, and as we are departing on a watery adventure, until we return to dry land, you may call me Captain, and you shall be Quartermaster." Ruben laughed, leaned across the prow of his ship, and asked, "What will it be Captain?" The game was afoot. While this tale has hopefully captured your time and your interest, I do not wish to commit what the french in their flowery language would call a faux pas and lose the confidence of my Quartermaster Ruben. But know this, never has an evening passed in better company or with more felicity and solicitude. For that evening, my Quartermaster was like an albatross in the southern seas guiding me home. At times he led me from the bowsprit, at times he followed from the stern, but he was faithful and true the entire journey. At evening's end (and dare I say the morning's beginning!), we embraced. At the Bungalow last nigh playing pool and winning all my games until the Red Wine set in...... I may have started losing but I have to say, all the new faces that I met last nigh and most were foreigners from other countries like Canada, Brazil, Sweden France, Australia, Spain and Italy was a big win To see so many beautiful people that were here in our one of a kind America was pretty nice. Who does not love an accent? I seen a sexy lady from Paris France and a handsome Italian gentleman, enjoying each others company so much that they had to extend their time with each other leaving the Bungalow in a Uber together. The last thing I remember was the lady from Paris France saying God Bless America as her eyes were locked into his and his all over her and her silky smooth body. I played pool with a pool shark from Australia, who later that evening was playing who can take whose breath away faster with a lady whop looked very similar to Kate Upton from Austin Texas. The energy at this place is great and the wines are even better. Later that night chillin at the fire pit with a professional group of Armenians who were smoking cigars and enjoying the scenery. Its great to see the world come together and no drama about it. The staff is great and the hospitality that they show you is very welcoming. No one really gets too drunk and most people have a drink in their hand. The Bungalow is a great place to meet new people but most you will most likely not see again because they are just passing through our great U.S.A looking to have a night to remember. I recommend this place to everyone and this is a cool place to even bring your own sand to the beach. Three Good tips for men and women, Men: 1. Don't come here with a jealous heart or looking to start any type of drama. You will be showed the door very fast and you will only get to enjoy the scene from far away.They have a zero tolerance for that type of immaturity. 2. Don't try grabbing or groping females. You will be escorted out and arrested there on the spot. Everyone's safety is important and this is a place that stands for integrity. 3. Don't buy every girl a drink. All you will be doing is getting her ready for the next guy unless you like being a wing man to other guys you don't know. Save your money for the right one. Women: 1 Smile. Smiling shows confidence in who you are and that is a very sexy quality. Say hi to many people guys and girls and don't get jealous of another females beauty. It will even make your energy feel better deep inside. I know saying hi to some guys makes them think they have a chance but trust me when I say this "You got this ma". 2. Don't just let any guy buy you a drink. When some guys buy drinks they are mistaken and think that you are now their property. ha ha. Classic. Also go with the guy to get the drink so that you don't wake up somewhere that you don't remember going to in the first place. Be safe out there. Just because the house is perfect does not mean there is not a snake in the grass. 3. Don't come in being stuck up or thinking you are better than the guy who is trying to say hello. Yes yes I know it's kinda annoying being hit on by someone who does not stand a chance and or may cramp your style. You saying with a pretty smile "Hi nice to meet you also but not interested only builds the beauty in you and makes you look respectable hot instead of arrogant pretty. Imagine trying to convince a whole bunch of dimwitted bouncers and managers that you are actually you, imagine handing your ID to some meat head who peaked in high school, who then gives it to some miserable 30 year-old who believes herself to be some sort of Nazi ID superhero, that is now clutching onto your government issued ID as if she discovered the cure for a zombie apocalypse, that in fact is not happening. It might sound like a bad movie. Well unfortunately it's not, it was real and it was my Saturday night. My ID was confiscated in front of a huge crowd of people by this female who claimed she was the manager. For at least 15 embarrassing minutes I'm trying to explain to these assholes that this is actually me. I spelled my name correctly, they say I didn't, I tell the truth, and they don't believe me... they will NOT under any circumstances give me my ID back... It was like a circus trial with a group of naive hipsters who don't have real jobs. So now I'm trying to prove my identity in front of random people, totally feeling humiliated and disrespected...but it gets better. So no matter what I say this lady will not, under any shred of human decency listen to me. She shuts me out and makes up her mind that I have a stolen ID. Now they tell us the only way to get it back is by calling the police. So now I have my ID indefinitely stolen by some idiot who thinks she's fucking Sherlock Holmes, I'm on private property in Santa Monica without identification and now a squad car is possibly on its way....I swear it felt like entrapment. I'm potentially stranded in Santa Monica because a group of fools think I have a stolen ID. My friends and I call the police which was the only way to get my ID back. The night is ruined; we wait for like nearly 3 hours and no one shows up, which I understand. The police department has more pressing matters to attend. Some guy working there was extremely helpful and truly without him I would have probably never gotten my ID back. But anyways...so after waiting for hours some other suit comes out from the actual hotel and gives me my ID. It is almost 3 in the morning now; a Saturday night completely gone to shit. In all honesty I understand these imbeciles are just doing their jobs, I really get that. They take pride in their silly job... that they can't get right, like lab mice running in circles... listen if you decide to go just remember to bring an ID that looks exactly like you. These people working there don't understand that human beings grow and change as time moves forward, they are baffled that hair can be cut or weight could be lost, it's not their fault, they are confused, the idea of a photograph must really stress them out, they must think the photo changes with the person. They expect you to look the same from age 18 and up, because you don't age, you don't change, they have no concept of time... you're a robot from the future. But all joking aside... if you decide to go be absolutely sure that you bring your passport and birth certificate or wait no, don't... they might confiscate it because reading a birth certificate might be hard for the illiterate, it may anger them. Okay okay hold on, I got it...to make sure you get in... ahh yes bring your entire family to vouch for you... and have a court reporter on standby... you may have to hire a fucking attorney to get in. I don't have any friends because I'm new to this planet, so when I came here and I saw the line that wrapped around the entire wall of hedges, I started to feel lonely. I knew that I was going to be standing in this line for a while without anyone to talk to. I'm not great at making conversation with new people. I've actually only been around people for a couple of weeks now, and most of them were out in the desert. From what I can tell, desert people aren't real people anyway. Maybe it was just the crowd that was at The Bungalow on the night I was there, but I immediately felt welcomed. People started coming up to me and taking pictures with me. And while I know that this is because I am an alien and I don't exactly look like the rest of the people who were standing in line, it still made me feel included in a way that I've never felt back on Nilbod. Eventually, the line subsided and I got inside. There is a ping pong table, a pool table, and maybe a tetherball in the corner. I'm not sure about that last one. I got pretty hambo'd from my first beer. My kind are not very tolerant of alcohol. In my studies about this planet, I learned that there is a social bravado that accompanies a strong tolerance for alcohol consumption here. This is especially apparent on weekend evenings. The opposite is true for those that cannot consume great quantities of alcohol, like me. But fortunately for me, I was aided by my strange looks (which for the record aren't strange where I'm from, by the way...I'm like the Brad Pitt of Nilbod and I'm talking Brad from Legends of the Fall. Ok? And yes, we know about Brad Pitt where I'm from. And Patrick Swayze too). Nobody cared that I was drunk out of my mind after a few sips of my Sierra Nevada. They just wanted to keep posing for pictures with me. I had read about the Instagram epidemic of the current decade so I knew what to expect. I noticed that most people paid with credit cards here. I didn't. I don't have a credit card but I did arrive with plenty of cash, most of which is back in my ship out in the desert. But don't even try to go find it. I buried it under the sand. I spent all of five minutes inside The Bungalow, but I feel confident in my assessment that this place is a disgusting nightmare, a beachside pop-up brought to Santa Monica by the devil himself. We were meeting friends for a Saturday happy hour at the Fairmont Hotel, and since we'd never done this before, we figured the happy hour was at the giant outdoor bar visible from the street. We were running late, so we decided to do valet parking if it was going to be like $15. It was considerably more for the Bungalow--something like $10-15 for the first hour and $7 an hour thereafter--so we scrammed and found street parking. We thought we got lucky with this, but when we drove home later in the evening, I'm pretty sure we saw a parking ticket flutter off. I like Santa Monica, but I also really fucking hate Santa Monica. As we made our way to The Bungalow's entrance, we passed by the side of the bar facing Wilshire with a mounting feeling of dread. The crowd was dense and obviously douchey, just clusters and clusters of fratty mid-twenties westside bros. Luckily, we arrived early enough that there was no line to get in, but then we had to go inside and try to find friends in this loud bar packed with terrible people. We were only there a few minutes before I called my friends and realized my mistake--we were actually meeting at the hotel restaurant, where we could sit and drink and hang out like civilized people. We were thrilled, and turned around immediately. This quick peek was long enough, though, for us to overhear an exchange in which some gross infected asshole chastised his friend for his decision to send a drunk woman home in a cab. "I didn't want to deal with that," said the minimally decent dude. The scumbag's response: "But she wanted to fuck! Most people would be thanking me." Utter disappointment and disgust that his friend failed to rape the drunk woman he'd procured for him. The Bungalow made a strong impression in a very short period of time. This might be the worst bar I've ever encountered. I hate the place, and will never go near it again. read more

Only giving this location 1 star because 0 is not an option. I went here to celebrate a birthday and was treated horribly. Regardless of the overpriced drinks and rude staff I also had an altercation with a 6 foot man who drunkly entered the WOMEN'S bathroom, making demands for his over intoxicated girlfriend. I simply was sticking up for the girls around me after he started screaming profanity at each and every one of us. He then singled me out, got in my face and started saying the most malicious things a man has ever said to me. At this point i was fearful for myself, my friend and the safety of the rest of the girls around me. There was nothing I can do to get this man away from me and I never want to put my hands on anyone so the only option I was left with was to cool him off with my ice cold $11 dollar whiskey sour. Security was nowhere to be found during this whole altercation but immediately after walking out of the restroom there they were, escorting me to the side so they could speak with the man who had been "attacked" by the 5'3 girl. Now let me just clarify that this man is not the reason I will never go back to Bungalow again, but the way the staff handled it after, especially the manager, Ian. They had NO understanding of the situation and completely neglected to hear what really happened. Ian was so rude completely ignorant and condoned the fact that this man was in the women's bathroom talking to these women like this. He decided to kick me out and have security follow me around while allowing the other man to peaceful close out his tab and leave with his friends. Personally there are so many spots in LA that you could attend and have fun with your friends and family. The bungalow is way talked up and yes it is in a great location, but with that comes a horrible staff. read more

Bungalow is the OG spot to come for a good time on the west side. While Elephante is a bit more reserved and chi chi, if you are under 30 and looking for fun...Bungalow is the place to go. Located within the Fairmont property, it is directly facing the ocean cliffs...spectacular sunset views! Ride your Bird up Ocean Ave. while you're at it. Parking is available in the 2nd ave. structures which is super convenient if you aren't coming by Uber. Their outdoor accommodations include a bar, bottle service, ping pong, and a dance floor with a live DJ. It is also frequently booked as a music venue...I once saw Donovan perform on the deck! Inside you will find another bar equipped with a pool table and a fireplace. Styled with paddington blankets and sandalwood candles in what feels like a converted bungalow, you feel right at home! That is the entire allure of this gem of a spot by Brent Bolthouse and team...a chill house party every night rain or shine. (There is a clear tent for cold nights) If you go ask for Ohia at the door...she is the sweetest! (Maui babe with long blonde mermaid hair) She is always polite and accommodating. FINALLY! A place to go on the west side. Thank you Brent Bolthouse for bringing your magic to the best side! Moving from Hollywood to the west side was at first social suicide since most of my good friends didn't live here. Growing up in Long Beach, I want and love the beach, dirty dive bars and down to earth people. But SM was missing something. And I missed dressing up and hanging amongst a curated crowd close to home. Brent has truthfully blended both sides at The Bungalow in a beautiful outdoor/indoor venue overlooking the ocean. The trees outdoors create a quaint hideaway feeling and the sparkly lights add warmth. The inside is as if you're in someone's house with a pool table and entrance to a secret back bar, which is less crowded. The overall layout has a good flow as you enjoy a full bar selection with your stylish & smart group of friends. You would find me there on a Sunday afternoon or Tuesday night at a reserved table wearing designer duds and sensible shoes. By the way, the music selection is A++. Don't use your CARD here!! The fraudulent servers give themselves tips at your expense. I went in on a Wednesday and bought 2 drinks ($28) and tipped the bartender ($5)cash. Later i saw on my bank statement he gave himself an additional $5.60. A few days later I noticed the tab from bungalow had gone from $28 to $33.60 so I looked at my receipt. I had signed the tip section as "Cash" because i left a cash tip. First of all the bartender was rude and drinks awful and yet we didn't complain and just took the cocktails. The bar was not busy either as it was early on a Wednesday. I realize this is not a great deal of money but for me it is the principle of the matter. How many more people have they done this to? Ive been sharing this story with many of my local friends and to no surprise many people have had a similar experience here but have let it sly. I emailed the manager and accountant and to date have not received an apology or a response. Bad customer service, bad management, bad drinks, rude staff, and in house fraud to its clients. read more

I always make it a point to stop by the Bungalow with a great group of friends when I'm in town. Really great space. Amazing ambiance/color palette throughout. This place always feels warm and welcoming. Being in the interior design business, I have to say this to their designer: A job well done! I've never had an actual problem with any of the staff, but I will say that the bartenders and bouncers are not very friendly. Though I've only visited a few times, I am sure that Thursdays are the best night of the week to visit. The staff will also tell you this. Friday/Saturday crowd is a little less enjoyable than the Thursday night crowd from my experience. Also, save yourself the trouble and don't visit when it's raining. The indoor bar becomes extremely crowded and there is very little space to move, let alone stand. The outdoor bar is also out of the question considering that it's encompassed by a big tent, and is grossly warm. There are also a few leaks in it so you're likely to feel a few drops of rain here and there. read more

I will definitely not be coming back here ever again. and neither should anyone else. (unless you like to deal with disrespectful staff/bartenders). The last time i came here was with a group of friends and we went to the bar while our table was getting prepared. And this bartender named G or Guy, not entirely sure which one he goes by was very disrespectful. He had the nerve to point out my friend and make fun of her for getting some olives and made some very derogatory remarks. and he actually went one for a few minutes. and the manager was actually there not doing anything about it. once we confronted the manager, he said he was terribly sorry and had nothing else to say. In addition, my brother wanted to hold his engagement party here but we are definitely canceling it and going with The Penthouse instead. At least there we can deal with high end professional service (and eat as many olives as we want). read more

This place is absolutely gorgeous! I was stunned just looking at the photos! Our bartender Reuben was VERY attentive and makes a MEAN mojito! Being a server myself for over two decades, I expect a high level of attentiveness and service when it comes to going out for any dining experience. Reuben was very warm and inviting and took the time to converse one on one and made us feel very welcome! It Was like talking to an old friend! Anyone thinking about coming out for some drinks and meeting up with some friends, this is the place to go! Make sure you ask if Reuben's going to be working! I imagine all their staff is just as wonderful, but we were is so spoiled by Reuben that we really only want to go when he can take care of us! You definitely have a fine establishment and your staff is amazing! I have recommended you to anyone I know who is heading to this area! read more

The first time my friends and I went to the bungalow we had a fantastic time. We had such a good time we said we would go back the following week. We had friends in from New York so we wanted to show them a good time. We get to the bouncers and they wouldn't let my friend in. The bouncer said she looked nothing like her Id picture. First of all she is 22 and got a nose job and cut her hair. And secondly the picture was takin when she was 16. My friend then proceeded to show the bouncer her school id, her credit card, insurance card, and Facebook. And not to mention she was on a flight earlier that day and used her id. They Still would not let her in. Because of this I will not be returning to Bungalow. The management did not give us the time of day. I do not recommend the Bungalow to anyone. Very disappointed. read more
