This rescue is run by the most amazing, passionate crew. Their dedication to helping poms in their most dire times of need is outstanding. They always step up and give 100% to provide these dogs with a chance at a better life (even when that chance is slim - they NEVER give up). I adopted a senior pom a few years ago from Pawsitively Pom Rescue and they were properly cautious in their vetting/screening of potential adopters, but also upfront about what I was getting myself into taking on a senior loaded with health issues. I truly appreciate the vet check (including bloodwork, x-rays, and meds), spay and dental that they provided before I adopted little Paris. I had a nothing short of a "pawsitive" experience throughout the adoption process and of course, the pom that I adopted was a total sweetheart. As a side note, in my opinion/experience, smaller dogs tend to have big medical bills and it seems that when pet owners' poms become ill, they turn them over to a rescue. Because of this, I get the sense that most of the poms that this rescue takes in need some sort of medical treatment to get them back to healthy and it seems that lately their Facebook page has been asking for donations for various surgeries to provide a better quality of life for their dogs. I have donated several times over the years to this organization and am totally confident that the money I send to them is used to save or change lives for the better. A lot more people are rescuing now instead of going to a breeder, which I'm quite happy to see but it does make it competitive especially if you're looking at a specific breed. Fast forward to this rescue- we applied to adopt Ciara. We went through several interviews and a home check. They also suggested we foster her for 2 weeks before we officially applied to adopt, just to be sure the two would get along. We loved that they cared so much about finding her the right home and giving us a chance to return her to them if they really didn't get along. I appreciated that they looked at all the needs of the dog. Not just snuggles and treats, but will we give her enough exercise, training, structure etc. Does our current dog have the right personality for her? Will she enjoy a companion? Dogs need the opportunity to learn and grow, just like us humans. After we Happy met Ciara we found that they were a match made in heaven! They bonded immediately and seamlessly. They snuggle up to each other, play together and she has made all of our lives full of so much love. I think the reason this match went so well was because they bothered to investigate the details and I can't thank this rescue enough! They do great things.

We were super happy with the service, they understood that one of my cats is a shy weirdo and made sure she got her food, even if they had to put it half way upstairs. I got regular updates (and pictures) so we knew the two cats were absolutely fine and that helped us to have a stress free few days out of town. They include litter box cleaning in the service, which is also really helpful and they offer a lot of flexibility in what type of pet visits you need to schedule. Donna is most definitely willing to work with the pet owners and the communication was excellent. I also appreciate that Go Away Pet Sitting also has a good online tool for communicating, scheduling and getting updates as well as billing. All in all, we are very pleased and will definitely be using them again.

Well, I had been a client there for 20 years and had gotten very comfortable with taking my pets…read morethere. This all changed recently when my dog needed surgery. I cannot even describe the hell my dog suffered, not to mention the emotional and mental (let's not forget financial) anguish I experienced. First, he was given antibiotics that he wouldn't take. Multiple calls to the office met with "try this, try that"....i knew nothing would work; we tried applesauce, cream cheese, peanut butter, yogurt, sprinkling it on beef, chicken, and finally a compound that cost me $74. He spit that all over me! At one point my neighbors were trekking to the store for us!!! Finally, they offered a $65 injection that would last. Really??? You couldn't offer this sooner? His vet knew he had problems with pills, but, no! Upon his return home post-surgery, he cried for hours. No amount of pain meds was helping. I noticed his surgical "Lick sleeve" seemed exceptionally tight around his belly, so I loosened it and he immediately stopped crying and fell asleep!!! This thing was too small for him and cutting off circulation to his hind legs! When I called to get a more appropriate size, they wanted me to pay ANOTHER $79! Seriously? When I balked, they said to order one online or go to a pet store!!!!!!! I'm not kidding. I left it off of him until he went in for bandage removal. Now, get this, the vet he has seen since he was born kept calling him "she/her" until I told the vet that she had a penis! And you're a VETERINARIAN!!! Not wanting to put the ill-fitting sleeve back on him I left him go for the night. I own that. He went wild on his incision. I sent the pictures to the office and the VET TECH, not the veterinarian, said it was fine!!! Needless to say, I will not take my dog back there....EVER! He and I will never go back. I have sent neighbors and friends to this clinic over the years, but after this debacle I can't recommend it anymore. If you go there, pray you never need surgery. That woman should hang up her degree.

This practice was able to see my pet same day and was overly compassionate to my situation. Pricing was VERY reasonable unlike most practices. The staff brought my senior friend multiple treats prior to the procedure and let us have our final moments with our loved one. You can tell the vet loved his job and truly cared for the well-being of animals.
