The Burgundy Rose Tearoom opened earlier this year in the newest part of Livermore Outlets. It's next to Everest Bakery. Plenty of parking now. Unknown it will remain so when all shops open. Obviously, the interior is brand new, has the feel of a luxurious ballroom with some tables for seating. Unknowst to me, they weren't open for business, a private event was underway at the far end. Take out orders were permitted. Ordered. Paid. Food ready in 10ish minutes. Notice candy was available at table near entrance. Picked a Twix. Nearby, a table seen to be occupied by 2 ladies in fancy hats with dark dresses. Turns out they were mannequins celebrating Halloween. Offerings: Caribbean lunch plates, sandwiches, many kinds of teas, breakfast, sides, dessert, tea service. Only sandwiches available. Passed on tea. Didn't know i would manage tea to go. Bites: Jerk Chicken sandwich. Upgraded potato chips to bowl of fruit. Discovered later they rang up wrong item. I still got Jerk chicken sandwich. Fruits were comped. Figured out receipt later. -2 pieces of jerk chicken fitted diameter of the bun. Chicken was slightly spicy, semi-tender. Slight mayo smear on bun. Food traveled well. -the potato chips that was to upgraded to fruits were the commercial type, not housemade. Not crispy. Almost stale. -the fruits (pineapple, blueberry, strawberry, grapes) were fresh. Juicy, deliz. 4ish stars. Semi-worthy. I have been wanting to check out this tearoom since it opened and was fortunate enough to be gifted a gift certificate for 3 people to enjoy the Royal Rose Tea Service. The online reservation requires a deposit so I sent an email to check how it would work with a gift certificate. They responded the same day and were able to make the reservation for me. The atmosphere on a Sunday at 11am was peaceful and quiet. The decor and table settings are beautiful. By noon, a couple of other parties arrived. I appreciated the extensive tea menu and ended up choosing the cherry marzipan which was delightful. The scone had a nice, balanced texture. I enjoyed the curried chicken tea sandwich and the tomato soup of the day. I forgot about the dessert portion by the end and was comfortably full by the time it arrived. The dessert portion was a nice way to end a fun tea service as it was light and just the right amount of sweet. It was nice to try a new place for tea. I will say the decor of this place is lovely and they really put a lot of effort into making it look nice! It was very easy to find parking out front since most of the nearby storefronts aren't occupied yet. I went with a larger group so there were a couple of confusing moments, since we had pre-ordered our food. I think in the future, I would just order when I got there. I thought the fresh fruit salad you start with was really good and I really enjoyed the green salad. The sandwiches were pretty good, nothing remarkable but I did enjoy them. The dessert selection was very good. I also really enjoyed the tea selection and they were very good about filling up the pots. When we were leaving, they were setting up for a large group party and I was thinking this would be a great place to host something like that! read more

Calm, hospitable, and pleasant....Came here with a good friend and enjoyed the relaxing beautiful atmosphere. We came in Sunday afternoon and ordered a la carte instead of the full tea set since we have both eaten lunch. A huge tea selection, and there were quite a few we would have wanted to try, but the ones we picked were their signature burgundy rose tea (caffeine free version), and the peach serenity. We liked both; the peach serenity was a lighter tea but has a joyful fragrance of peach essence. The rose tea was also lovely with a wonderful blend of floral and fruity flavors in each sip. We had scones with strawberry butter (loved the butter), tomato soup (savory and light), and a variety of pastries on the pastry plate. We enjoyed chatting with the owner who was kind, warm, and friendly, and inspired us with how she came up with the name for the restaurant and where she visited in Europe that led to her opening a tea room. We didn't feel rushed even though we were almost the last to leave. If you love tea and are in the Trivalley area, and looking for a spot to take a break, (especially after shopping at the outlets across the street), I do recommend stopping by for lunch, or coming by for some tea and treats. read more

Most places.they are just crumbly dry. Accompanied by nice blackberry preserves, but not plain Jane original British clotted creme' and curd de Limon. Nice change and not factory replicated as so many others. Next the finger sandwiches chosen were chicken curry and other was Lox. These were happy portions and not tiny squares. Surprising next was upside down cakettes with maraschino cherry fitted. And other painted petit fours, my fave was mini enclosed cake with frosting inbetween. Nice looking old queen Anne style with reminiscent marbled flooring solid.The walls as the below photos depicting, adorned with oils canvassers and even chandeliers and partial chand wall sconces. Classical clear music for background. Just right, not too loud for conversation. Porcelain as you can see in tableware including cups and saucers as well as plates. Adorned today holiday appropriate. We will return, non stuffy atmosphere including all staff and nice to have accessible here in the tri-valley especially for non-winery or even post wine visits to Livermore. I had the black sage tea, which was lovely & we both had delicious jerk chicken salad sandwiches. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are highly recommended, particularly if you want to order an entree from the Caribbean Flare lunch plate menu. Disappointing doesn't cover my experience. I paid $200 for four people and had the experience been better I wouldn't feel like I was stolen from. For $45 per person each person got one crustless sandwich cut into fourths with at best an ounce of filling, one scone that tasted good, but was thin and flat. With 1/3 tsp of clotted cream and a small amount of jam. A bowl of fruit that consisted of a sliver of watermelon, two slivers of cantaloupe, half a strawberry cut in half, and two small pieces of pineapple, a small bowl of soup or a small salad (just a baby spring mix with no tomatoes or cucumbers and warning: cilantro). One petit four. One mini cookie sandwich smaller than an Oreo but thicker. A pot of tea. For $45. It's an experience you may say. Well I tried to tell myself that, but the experience wasn't great either. They time limit the service which is my only explanation for why it took 10-15 minutes for the server to come take the order. Then another 15 minutes to bring out the single scone per person on a plate which was placed on the tier holder. Then the pots of tea. Then another 10 minutes for sandwiches brought out after that and placed on the tier. Then another 15 minutes to bring out the premade store bought petit fours and mini cookie sandwiches. Everything should have been brought out at once on the tiers. I would have loved to take a beauty shot of the table, but that was impossible because unless we waited 45 minutes for all the plates to be brought out, we couldn't get a shot of all three tiers together looking pretty. The gold chargers on the table were plastic. The forks and spoons were gold, and they didn't provide soup spoons for the soup. At $200 for four people, proper soup spoons would be warranted. (On the plus side, the soups were enjoyed by the people i was with). The interior of the space was sparse. I did love the art on the walls. I thought the prints/paintings were great. I saw all the good reviews and photos of properly sized tea sandwiches (I've never ever seen them cut into fourths before). For $45 per person, at a minimum i would expect to start with two scones per person (and they should be fluffier. Scones are cheap and easy to make, so it's an excellent thing to give people at a low cost that makes them feel extravagant). A bowl of clotted cream and a bowl of jam with a silver colored spoon rather than tiny little plastic 1/4 teaspoons would be more elegant as well). Two tea sandwiches per person, CUT IN HALF not fourths, would also be inexpensive especially as thin as the fillings were (the bread to filling ratio was off. Thin fillings need thin bread). As for dessert, homemade petit fours would be nice, but macarons (also cheap to make although maybe with egg prices what they are, maybe egg whites in cartons have gotten more expensive), lemon bars, lemon cake, jam squares, even coconut macaroons would be lovely and inexpensive but make the customer feel more extravagant. As for the tea, the signature tea is not good. It's a rose/hibiscus tea blend and the person at the table who ordered it orders rose tea and hibiscus tea regularly, so jumped to get that one, and she said those two flavors just didn't work together. Everyone else liked their tea. It was hot and clean tasting. I had a few leafs in my pot, but that never bothers me (only mention because someone else mentioned it in a review) I normally don't want to write such a negative review, but there are so many positive reviews with photos of food that looked so much better than my experience, i wanted people to know what it's really like. Oh, and another note, don't get the salmon and cucumber. I didn't even notice any cucumber (maybe there was a paper thin slice under the salmon), but it's a very very smoky smoked salmon that didn't pair well with the tea. Maybe it's cheap smoked salmon? Anyway, it tasted of smoke flavoring rather than smoke. On the plus side, the server was nice. I hope they look at the reviews and make changes because we need a nice tea shop in livermore. I see they have a Jamaican menu. I love Jamaican food. Maybe they should close, change the name, and focus on that as tea service does not seem to be something they're good at. read more

The service was delightful. The tearoom is very clean and chic. The amount of food and tea we had was fair for the price. I paid for the royal tea which included a sandwich, soup or salad, small fruit cup and unlimited tea, but only had room to try two teas. I decided for the burgundy black tea and the sweet nothings white tea, both delicious! My daughter loved her princess blue tea, grilled cheese sandwich and assorted desserts. The only negative is that I chose the cucumber and cream cheese sandwich and I was served the pimiento cheese sandwich which ended up tasting delicious. This was a lovely birthday surprise, upon entering the establishment it was bright, clean, and their decor placed aesthetically. My friend had put a deposit on our reservation for the Burgundy Rose Tea ($30 per person),that included a pot of tea, a cup of fruit, a scone with jam and butter, tea sandwiches, mini cheesecakes, and macaroons. The service was slow but my friend told me it's an hour in a half tea time, but it was awhile before the lady who asked if we were ready to order to come back and take our order. The tea that we ordered was delicious as well as the tea sandwiches. The macaroons were good but the mini cheesecake was dry. The lady who greeted us and took us to our seat, was pleasant and kind. She may have been the owner not sure. Overall the aesthetics were lovely, the tea, scone, and tea sandwiches were good. The service was slow, and the lack of knowledge of what type of desserts that were served was disappointing. Overall an okay visit. Plus, I found it odd that our dishes weren't all brought out at the same time, instead our scones were served (one each), then our bowl of fruit, four tea sandwiches each and lastly our desserts. The food was brought out separately and a wait in between but not placed on the three tier rack as seen in previous photos. I really wanted to like this place as the staff are sweet but it was disappointing. We waited a long while for scones that were more like fluffy baked cookies served with a 1/4 teaspoon of cream each. Grocery stores, starbucks, and my friends all make better scones than these. They weren't really scones I think. Sandwiches were small, bread tasted stale. The lemon cake petit four had no hint of lemon, and the raspberry petit four no hint of raspberry. The expected fruit salad with our package was almost non-existent as I could surly fit all four slivers on my fork and eat it in one bite. Walls are blank creating a sterile hospital feeling. After trying 2 other Tea Rooms in the Bay Area we found one that meets our standards. The Burgundy Rose is beautifully decorated without being over-the-top, from the gorgeous marbled floors, to the framed artwork to the exquisite ceilings. The service was wonderful. Our server Erica was very sweet and funny. You can tell that she takes pride in her job. We had Butternut Squash and Creamy Tomato soups. Both were delicious. The scones and lemon bars were some of the best I have tasted. The fruit was super fresh. And of course the tea was perfect. Our favorite was the house-blended Burgundy Rose black tea. We also loved April in Paris and Maple Cream. We had a wonderful time and I am already lining up friends and family to take back there. *Note-this is a new business. I wish I could give a higher rating. We were a ladies group and had called several times in advance. The first time I went there the sandwiches were large and I loved the cucumber and cream cheese sandwich. This time, we sat there for one and half hours until our food arrived. The sandwich I had bragged about had a thin layer of cream cheese to go with the thin layer of cucumber. The bread tasted stale. The fruit was good. But who doesn't offer their guests at least water and tea while they wait? Clearly they were understaffed and the kitchen does not know how to make a tea sandwich. A group of 6 of us went here on 8/1/25. We had the most wonderful time. The restaurant was lovely. The tables were set beautifully. All the dishes and flatware matched and looked elegant. Also, the entire restaurant was so clean and sparkling. The food was wonderful and the English Breakfast Tea was the best I have had and I have been to several tea rooms. The food menu is incredible with a lot of wonderful choices, and the selection of teas is fantastic! All of the staff was lovely, kind and accommodating. They let us have separate bills which was very much appreciated. I had the best time talking to all of the staff. They are so nice. We attended the Bridgerton event last night. Retzlaff was beautiful decorated and you couldn't ask for a better evening. We were disappointed with the food catered by the Burgundy Rose Tea Room. We spent $120 on dinner for three and left hungry. The entree salad was a handful of spinach with a few strawberries. The tea sandwiches amounted to 4 two inch pieces of stale bread with little filling for $10. We liked the idea having tea at the event but it was not the experience we hoped for. read more

We held a bridal shower here. Georgette and her team went above and beyond in decorating the table, the service, food and tea's. I highly recommend their proprietary tea 'burgundy rose' and the Kentucky bourbon tea. Compliments to the chef on how delicious the sandwiches were - curry chicken, salmon crostini, egg salad, spicy chicken and of course cucumber. The spring salad with fresh strawberries was amazing. We also were served fresh fruit on the side. The decor and ambiance is reminiscent of the Palace of Versailles. Just gorgeous! The food is outstanding, and the staff is lovely, however we had made reservations for Saturday after Easter or so we thought. There were 4 of us and after not getting a call back we just went down to have tea. The entire tea room was filled and we had wasted our time driving out with friends. We skipped the tea room and went to lunch at the Vietnamese restaurant next door. Excellent Vietnamese food. Last Friday ...We had called at 11:30 and left a message. No response by Noon. So, we called again at 12:15 pm....no response. We had hoped they would call us back....no luck. We got there and the lights were off, and we could not see if anyone was home. This is two strikes for Georgette and the Tea Room. We had a group, and we wanted to make one last try but our guests decided to opt out. No matter how the good the tea and food is ... If we cannot get a response during business hours and confirm a place at the table it is not worth going. I really want the Burgandy Room to make it but this is not an indication of a quality establishment if they can support a simple booking. Negatives: Web site gives no opportunity to contact owner with anything negative so comments do not have to be posted publicly. Therefore, hope owner sees this comment and makea changes. Having been raised in a custom/culture/heritage of weekly experiencing English tea service, scones do not get served before sandwiches and sandwiches, scones and sweets all get served at the same time on the 3 tiered stand. Scones served were not home baked English scones, they were more like miniature Costco or store brought breakfast biscuits, "cakes" also seemed store bought as were petit fours (Trader Joes are better). ""Cakes" seemed to be and tasted like some store bought miniature very very sweet round hard cookies sprinkled with very sweet sprinkles. Other than the sandwiches nothing appeared home baked and does not represent a true British tea service. I hope the owner takes notice and starts to serve small authentic home made English Scones and cakes. For me very disappointed. There is a lot of potential but. We had the Tea. There is a serving rack on the table but items a brought one at a time. The sandwich bread was stale and thick sliced. Not the best for egg salad or cucumber sandwiches. The egg salad was very chunky and spread for cucumber very sparse. We also received a biscuit not a scone and very little clotted cream. Also no lemon curd! We were the only customers at the time yet we could not get the servers attention especially for the bill. They were busy talking to each other. Someone will come take your order. 20 minutes later your tea and scones arrive. 5 minutes later the waitress brings forks. 15 minutes later a small bowl of fruit. 15 minutes later the sandwiches arrive on slightly stale bread. 20 minutes later small macaroons and inedible cheesecake bites. This is genuinely one of my favorite tearooms I've ever been to! The staff were phenomenal, and the owner came to check on our table multiple times. The ambience was adorable and picture perfect. The food was also delicious. The proportions were great, and the tea selection was to die for. The food is reasonably priced and fresh.
