I'm shocked that Wente's score isn't higher- PLEASE give it a try! Arguably the best winery in Livermore, and a top contender with the big wineries in NorCal. The Wente estate is absolutely *stunning*, and worth a visit just to enjoy the scenery. There isn't a bad view to be found. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon without a reservation- all seats inside and on the immediate patio were taken (shocker!), but we were offered seats either in the tasting room, the lawn, or by the fire pits- not bad seating at all! The atmosphere is very elevated, with beautiful decor inside and out. Across the Wente grounds are multiple buildings, including a concert venue. We enjoyed our visit so much, we came back for a special tasting event with Carolyn, the CEO of Wente. An absolutely fabulous night hearing about the history of Wente, which made me appreciate the winery and its impact not only on Livermore, but in the wine world! Went to Wentiva for a Mustache Harbor concert. Overall, it's a very nice venue--I really liked the setup, the vibe, and the overall experience. The only issue we ran into was with seating. The instructions clearly stated to bring low chairs, which makes sense so everyone can see. Unfortunately, the person who set up directly in front of us had a high chair, which completely blocked our view for a good portion of the show. What made it more frustrating is that this person turned out to be one of the staff members who had checked our tickets earlier. It was a bit disappointing to see someone enforcing the rules not following them, especially when it impacts guests' experience. If they had used a low chair like everyone else, it wouldn't have been an issue at all. Hopefully management can address this with their staff moving forward. Aside from that, it's a great venue, and I'd definitely go back--especially for the right band. read more

Visited here to try the Unknown Pour wine pairing, (glasses are black so that you cannot see the color of the wine). We had a great time trying to identify and guess the wines by smell and taste alone. They give you a guide with varietals and general taste information to give you pointers. We attended the White Party and had SO much fun! Everyone looked amazing dressed in white, and the whole vineyard felt elegant yet relaxed. The servers at the booths and restaurants were welcoming. While Wente is situated on a beautiful property, it was one of the most disappointing wine tasting experiences. Upon arrival, it seemed life staff were more concerned with socializing amongst one another than offering any assistance. After being seated, we waited a long time for anyone to come give us water or explain to us the tasting options. Eventually Paulette came, but she seemed a bit confused with her assigned tables and didn't seem too confident when presenting the wines listed in the different tastings. My husband and I chose the 5-wine tasting flight, and my mom-in-law chose the Nth degree tasting flight (all reds). The only one I enjoyed from our flight was the Sauvignon Blanc. A friend and I wanted to get a tasting together and this was open on a Wednesday (one of the only wineries open 7 days a week btw). There are two tasting menus and we opted to do both so we could try all 10 offerings. Steve helped us and gave us some background information about the winery and the different wines. We went to The Grill at Wente and the outdoor seating was beautiful. Our server was friendly and the service was very quick. We shared the dip trio and the favorites were the hummus and artichoke dip. We also got the brussel sprouts and all of my group loved them they said they were the best brussel sprouts they'd ever had. For me I personally prefer more savory brussel sprouts, so they were a bit sweet for me. I got the fish and chips and the fish was well battered and fried, but it needed some lemon on the side and the tartar sauce really elevated the fish. It seemed like it had been aerated for a while. We bought a bottle, and it didn't match the tasting at all. In terms of service, our wine pourer was really nice, but she went on and on about her family history, not so much about the wine, but about how her nieces and nephews did or did not pursue winemaking. The light dishes of shrimp, steak, and ribs paired with the perfect Chardonnay, their new version of Rose', and the Cabs were amazing on the pallet. I attended Wente's annual white party on 5/25/25. The event was from 1-5, guests are encouraged to line up early. I arrived just before noon and there were a handful of people already lined up. There was conflicting information, some saw online that doors open at noon, and when I called I was told line up early preferably noon or 12:30 and doors open at time of event. We received a splash of their "2024" Sauvignon Blanc upon entering. The lawn area had large tables that seated 9 with white table cloths. There were two alcohol stations, one for bottle service, and the other station for mixed drinks, bottled wine, and wine by the glass. They had 3 food trucks, and a few vendors. The crowd was lively, and the dance floor was bumping. The event was cashless so make sure you have your credit/debit card on hand. A fun event to kickstart your summer. read more

Solid winery in the Dublin/Pleasanton wine trail. Beautiful facility and grounds that are well maintained and often host beautiful events on the weekends. Live music often available as well. Servers are super friendly and provide just enough info about the wines you're tasting. Plenty of indoor seating in the tasting room with great selection options for tastings. If you're not a wine club member, the tastings are a bit on the more expensive side - try and find a friend that's able to bring you in for a free tasting and it'll be worth it. Came here for a wine tasting today with a party of 3, we had reservations for 12noon. Since it was blazing hot outside in Livermore, we called ahead to ask for an indoor seating. I did the $40 tasting menu, and my friends and I shared the charcuterie cheese plate for $25. I also ended up taking home of the $50 Aly's pinot, since it was my favorite from the tasting. Pros: - The staff pouring for us was super knowledgeable about the winery and gave us a lot of cool facts! I had no idea that Wente was one of the oldest wineries in California (she said 1800's!!??) and it's supposedly one of the oldest (if not the oldest?) family owned winery in California, for 5 generations. Also apparently more than 75% of the chardonnay grapes in California are descendants of Wente chardonnay, pretty cool. I love learning about a winery's history so this was fun to listen to. - Pretty unique tasting menu - I liked that they were upfront that Livermore shouldn't try to compete with Napa cabs - but we tasted a really good pinot, and a really good cab franc, and a great duetto. The brute that we started with was also delicious. - Easy parking lot with lots of space, and they didn't get annoyed that we were 15 mins late to our reservation time. It was bustling and clearly a popular winery, but not so crowded where we felt like there wasn't enough space to talk, laugh, and be served. - Really beautiful tasting room! Loved the wine shelf in the middle of the room and really pretty outdoor area. - The charcuterie board was actually really delicious! not cheap cheeses and pretty delicious fruit (a little overpriced but there's limited options there) Cons: - the rose wine was mid to me. - No discounts for bottles you take home if you do the tasting Overall, would definitely not mind coming back for the ambiance, wine, and cheese! 2nd year I attended their white party and it was a blast like last year. For general tickets, they have open seating, food trucks and several liquor stations. The weather was great with plenty of shade and umbrellas for those in the sun. I wish they'd expand the dance floor because it was packed. I am writing to express the disappointment by our group regarding the Mother's Day event on May 10th. While my family and friends have enjoyed this celebration for years, the recent changes in policy and organization made this year's experience very frustrating. My primary concern was the decision to ban outside water. On a 90-degree day, forcing guests--including young children and pregnant/breastfeeding women--to empty their water bottles upon entry and forcing them to buy $4 bottles seems like a significant public safety issue. If you aren't going to allow outside water, then water stations should be provided throughout the property. Furthermore, the quality of the food and service did not meet expectations. The menu items were poorly executed, leading to extreme wait times and cold food. The transition from supporting the independent food truck community to exclusively using in-house catering was disappointing. Stay in the food lane you are recognized for. This, combined with the addition of more high cost reserved tables, made the event feel less like a family-oriented vibe and more like an upscale sit-down restaurant feel. Finally, the parking situation was a cluster in itself. Having staff direct every car to turn around at the main entrance and enter through an "Exit Only" gate caused unnecessary confusion and delays. I hope you re-think your strategies moving forward. Nancy our sever was stingy and just terrible. Absolutely no customer service and was just miserable. Other servers were far more engaging with their tables. Tastes were less than an ounce each and she kept up charging and charging extra fees for things that we didn't get or were not disclosed. I'll start with the one unsavory experience before getting to the highlights. Before leaving the vineyard, me and one other person in my party purchased wine bottles to take home. The man who brought over the bottles entered my friend's credit card information manually into the iPad to check out. The receipt was sent to her email, which is where she saw the man tipped himself 36%. If you scroll down to another person's review, they also mentioned another staff member tipping themselves. As for our earlier experience, we had the Cave Tour & Barrel Tasting experience which was $75 per person. You take the tour with other parties unless you choose the private tour option. We first had a white wine while in the waiting room before starting the tour. Portions of this tour is held outdoors, so be sure to bring a hat or sunglasses. Inside the cave we tried a handful of red wines and the tour ended at the starting location where we tried 2 more red wines. If you take the tour, you get the option to purchase wines at a discounted price (this may or may not also be true for when you do the other wine tasting options). The grounds are scenic and there are lots of places to sit and they mentioned there was a walkable restaurant, though no food is served directly at the vineyard. read more

Went here on a Sunday afternoon. The wines were good but the service was sub-par. We didn't make reservations and we just walked in. We were 4 adults and 3 kids. They seated us in the corner which wasn't our preference but we understood that we didn't make reservations. The hostess told us she has to start the tasting right away as they need the table for their next guest. We were bringing our friends who were visiting from Utah and this was really embarrassing for us as the whole outdoor seating area was empty including the seating near the fire pits. We were just confused because the whole place was empty and we didn't understand the rush. Then they told us one of our tables will be taken away mid way during our tasting because someone has reservations. Again we were just confused because the whole place was empty at the time and even later on, half of the seating area was empty. We felt unwelcome. Not sure if it's because we didn't make reservations or it was because we are a different color or because we brought kids. I asked them if they want us to leave because we didn't have reservations as we didn't mind going to a different winery but they said we could stay. The wines here were good but not the service. There is a golf course located on the opposite side of the vineyard and a golf shop for golf equipment and other golf related items . Wine tasting is available as well as a restaurant for dining . Due to my personal time constraints. I ordered a glass a wine and enjoyed sitting out for an hour overlooking the vineyard and golf course. Would I recommend and return definitely! read more

My goal is to try all the wineries in the Livermore area and Wente Vineyards was next on my list. Came on a Saturday afternoon for a tasting and we did not make reservations. It's recommended on the website but the winery is pretty big so there's plenty of seatings in the lounge. Jack was our sommelier and he was so knowledgeable and friendly! The tasting was $30 per person for 5 wines and my favorite was the Brut sparkling wine. Im not a huge wine drinker so quite honestly, I don't know what's good and what's not. Most importantly for me, it has to taste good and easy to go down. We tried a variety of white and red wines. Overall, the experience was great and we really enjoyed the ambiance. At the end, I decided to get myself a bottle of the Brut ($50) to enjoy at home.
