The Cabbage Shed is a must visit! I've been to Frankfort a few times but I was introduced to The Cabbage Shed during this recent visit. I was surprised it took so long to learn about this place! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I visited during the warmer months so the outdoor patio was open. They have a DJ on the patio that allows you to request a song via submitting a song from the available vinyls. It was fun to look through the vinyls he had available and playing throwback songs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Cabbage Shed is extremely popular so I highly recommend making a reservation, if possible. The outdoor sitting goes fast but they have ample indoor tables. My group was able to at least sit next to a window even though we were inside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The view on the patio is breathtaking! Even if you cannot sit outside, they'll let you step out to take a photo from the second floor if it's not too busy inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm not sure if it's a requirement but every place in this area pour heavy handed. No complaints! I ordered the baked penne with sausage and it was unbelievable. I ordered this dish months ago and I still mention it anytime I reflect on my trip. The dish was flavorful and the ingredients tasted fresh. This was a relief because that's not the case for a lot of places nearby. I was easily able to get a a second meal out of my order. If I'm able to get at minimum two meals from my order it's always worth the price. I will definitely visit The Cabbage Shed during my future visits. read more

The menu prices are way too expensive for the quality of food they serve here. $14 for a small basket of cheese curds and $19 for a basic chicken sandwich with low quality chicken breast that did not include sides! It was too cool for the beach, so we hit the road and ended up here for an early dinner. Our server was great, but the prices are way too high for the quality of food. I ordered the daily fish special. It was over cooked and reminded me of a frozen meal. The daily "fresh" vegetable was asparagus, which is no longer in season. In an area of abundant farms, why not offer something fresh and local? We will not be making the drive again just to go here, I'm afraid. read more

Ordered the Penne and it was absolutely terrible. It tasted like noodles and barbecue sauce. I have never had any pasta taste quite like this. The food prices are extremely high and overpriced for what you get. The waitress did remove the Penne from our bill and asked if I would like something else. I declined as nobody else from our party was very impressed with their food they ordered.. (Especially for the prices) My recommendation would be to find somewhere else to eat!!! read more

What a pleasant surprise!! Best fish taco I have ever had. Great selection of beer. I couldn't have been happier. The night we were here there was a live band. We stopped in to eat at this restaurant as we were driving through town today. We were excited to learn that they had just opened up their outside patio for lunch today so we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather and the fantastic great views. We were immediately tested outside as soon as we arrived and heard about the great chef specials. My husband and I birth ordered a Bloody Mary for our beverage and he also ordered a porter to go with it. Our beverages were awesome, hit the Saturday vacation need spot Our mains were the buttermilk chicken sandwich with the Brussels sprouts and the fish sandwich with the fries. We both enjoyed our meals, they were awesome. If you find yourself traveling though this neck of town be sure to stop by! We are new to the area so we still are learning our way around and finding new restaurants. Luckily, we have made some great new friends in a short amount of time who have helped us navigate the restaurants and businesses at the towns around here. They had not been to the Cabbage Shed but were eager to check it out again in the age of COVID. The food was awesome, from the soup and appetizers through the dessert (we were close to being stuffed but had to get the full experience). We made it even more special was the service and attention to details. Our server was the wife of the cook, so of course the also had the inside information on the menu and the specials. Food was ok. Husband had fish and chips. It was Basa fish, it was very fishy tasting (not in a good way). Coleslaw was warm. I had the steak bites dinner special. They were cooked to med rare. We were there early so it wasn't busy yet. Our server never refilled our water/drinks. Didn't come by to see how our food was. She was busy chatting with her coworkers. I couldn't justify a full tip. Well loved local spot, live music playing on many nights. This is a spirited, water side, fun place with a varied menu. The locals will tell you about carving their names on the tables- that's discouraged these days but still fun to add to the stories of their visits in the past. What would make this a five star, hmmm? Maybe if the music synced between outside and inside dining and a bit more "cabbage shed" decor (it was a bit boring inside other than the water view). We arrived at the Cabbage Shed on Sunday evening around 5ish. Parking is a bit hanky. Either right in front of the restaurant or across the road in a small lot shared by locals perhaps? We found a spot in the lot, crossed the road and found a line at the door. Since there was a wait for outdoor seating we opted for indoor, window seat. I thing it was the back porch area. It was quite large but again, no interesting decor. We did however get a somewhat nice view of the water during dinner. I think the outdoor seating would have been nice too. Service was quick and friendly, but how could it be anything other than that with Tammy as our server We ordered voodoo shrimp with a 7&7 and hippie juice for drinks. Drinks were made wonderfully balanced, just the right amount of alcohol to make the drinks yummy. The voodoo shrimp was the perfect size to share between hubby and I. Just the right amount of not too hot sauce too. As a matter of fact it really wasn't spicy at all but that was perfectly fine with me. Tammy kept the meal timing perfectly with our appetizers being given plenty of time for us to eat, chat and relax. Hubby ordered the fish and chips... Delicious! The fish was cut thinly but breaded and fried perfectly and seasoned wonderfully. It came with coleslaw and rosemary/parmesan fries. I could have eaten a meal of the fries . The portion size was just about right too, maybe another smaller piece of fish but now I'm just being picky . Price point of this was about $11, so really not bad at all. I ordered the chef's special of duck with a cherry reduction, green beans and mashed potatoes. Taste buds went into overdrive! I started with the green beans and mashed potatoes and simply enjoyed the flavor knowing I still had the duck to sample! The duck fat was rendered to a scrumptious crisp and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The cherry reduction wasn't overly sweet yet added that yummy sweet/tart addition to the duck. Needless to say I ate it all with a little, and I mean little, help from the hubs! Portion size was maybe a bit too big but that allowed hubby to sample the deliciousness too. Price point on this was about $35 so a bit steep but even if I had known the price I probably would have ordered it and been very happy! Tammy allowed us to eat and talk and relax without being overly intrusive. Her attention was spot on. Overall it was a delicious dinner. The atmosphere could have used some sprucing up so don't be looking for anything special there. However the food was very good and I'd definitely recommend this place when you're in the area. read more

We just popped in to grab an appetizer to take with us to the neighboring Drive-in Theater.. They were supposed to have awesome fried cheese curds, and I can say they didn't disappoint.. Great little spot if you're hanging at the marina or nearby neighboring town's.. We truly just had a drink and then headed on out to head to the drive-in... Tried to hit the next morning for coffee but they didn't open until 11.. If we are ever back in the hood, the shed will be on our list though.. Had a great outside, w/games/fire pit.. The cabbage shed used to be one of my favorite local haunts, not anymore. I had the fish tacos for $25 and had to send them back, the first time I've ever done that in my life. When pressed, the waitress admitted the fish was basa, something that is from the Mekong river and is considered an "unclean" fish. My daughter got the $16 caprese salad which consisted of 4 slices of tomato, 1/5th of an avocado and 2 pieces of mozzarella. For $16. Everything about this place is fantastic. I eat too much every time I go because the food is so tasty. The only reason I don't eat here more is my waistline. Order the voodoo shrimp and the skillet dip!! Service is usually amazing. They handle big groups very well. If you forget your credit card here they will keep it for a YEAR!!! Best bloody Mary's around. I wish I could give 5 stars because I love it so much, but pandemic aside, it's not the same without the build your own Bloody Mary bar. Also, gotta say...the margaritas are way too sweet, and despite the fish and chips being delicious, the fish tacos are somehow horrible??? This review is for the "Famous Shed Borscht" only. Do not order unless you can handle extreme salt. For $9.50 you get a small mug of the stuff. I ate 3 spoonfuls, but it was so salty, I could not finish. Brought it home and tried to salvage it. To the small portion of soup, I added an entire 14 oz can of unsalted diced tomatoes, about 5 small beets and beet juice, fresh dill, and sour cream. (It was then that I realized the Cabbage Shed had failed to top my soup off with the "smoked sour cream" that was supposed to be part of it.) My concoction, while still a tad salty, was quite tasty! Don't know if I got a bad batch, or if the chef is a smoker with dulled taste buds, but the salt was over the top. The soup I made using the "Famous " borscht as a base was good, but a customer should not have to take their food home and "fix" it. read more

Surprisingly great dinner stop! "New" owners (2 or 3 years now) have turned this place around. We had borscht for starters and it was the best I have ever had. We also split a burger and fish tacos. Both were excellent. The burger comes with home made sauce and a super tasty pretzel bun. Thick burger too. Fish tacos were heavy on cabbage (not really a surprise considering the restaurant name) but surprisingly slim on fish. Beans that came with the fish tacos were excellent. Friendly wait staff. Great atmosphere with very friendly staff. They have a large outdoor dining area with also a large lower seating area for drinking and enjoying music. From the outdoor seating you have a very good view of the Bay. We enjoyed the food a lot. We split the borscht soup, and then one of us had shrimp and chips, while the other had fish and chips. They were both excellent. The seafood was fresh and the batter/breading -- different for the fish and the shrimp, and both clearly house-made--were crips and flavorful. Both dishes came with good fries and with a tasty slaw based with some good cilantro and lime flavors. They really do have a huge selection of Irish whiskeys, and the one we tried made for a very good dessert. read more
