Little bit of every kind of Asian food, and a fun option in downtown Frankfurt. Wanted to try so many things, but opted for trying two baos-- the pork belly was good, but the spicy chicken one was better imo! We came here not long after it opened. It's a beautiful restaurant; I recommend the patio. The service was great, and we had a good time. The food was good. I suppose I was hoping for something more unique/exciting. It didn't feel too different from any casual Asian restaurant at home. We were disappointed again at Slumping Bear. First of all, the food was great, but it was downhill from there. The place was dirty, walked through trash on the floor to get to the patio, passed plates of half eaten food sitting on counters, doors felt sticky. Wait staff inexperienced, had to ask for napkins, silverware, salt. Soy sauce bottles leaked. Cocktails were weak and mostly ice! Waitress brought us two different checks to pay, one was $65.88 and one was $205.40! It felt like dining in a junior high cafeteria! read more

Loved it here! Pretty typical asian food but it's something that's been missing from Frankfort for a while so it's nice to see it back, and this place does it pretty well! The drunken noodles were spicy and delicious and the chicken lettuce cups were enjoyed by the whole group. Not too busy on a saturday night, but the service was great and the back porch was nice to eat at. Would love to return if looking for asian food. read more

Went back for lunch and brought my mom. We ordered the edamame, which was just ok. It had copious amounts of salt. We were wiping it off on the side of the bowl. Next we each ordered pad thai. Don't do this, it's the equivalent of a frozen entree pad thai you'd get at any grocery store. The noodles are severely over cooked and everything is mushed together in a creamy peanut sauce. Really terrible, the worst I've had at a restaurant. My mom took hers to go and threw it out in a garbage can a few stores down. It was truly awful. The young boys working in the kitchen were loud and yelling at each other while turning up their radio and blasting music that you normally would hear eating out. They kept yelling really loudly to each other. I'm all about having fun at work, but be mindful especially if the kitchen is open and guests are seated where they can see and hear you. We won't be back, this is the third try and two times out of three the food was below sub-par. I really wanted this place to take off, but with the inexperienced kitchen staff and the lack of hospitality I think this place will close in a couple of years, at most. We ordered takeout and when we got home were extremely disappointed in what we received. The fried rice, which is supposed to have peas and green onion, only had about 6 peas and no green onions. C'mon, how expensive are peas? The pot stickers were barely cooked, tho after they were heated up at home tasted pretty good. The spicy Thai peanut noodles were dry and not spicy. I am sorry to have to leave this review because I so wanted decent Asian food in Frankfort. Looks like I'll be waiting longer. read more

What an unexpected valentines treat! My partner and I head up to Frankfort in the winter each year and we were so excited to find a new spot to try. The boa buns were perfectly tasty and I need to know what's in the Rangoon sauce because I could drink it (& might have!). The only feedback we had was the lo mein could have been a bit bigger in portion but otherwise very tasty scratch kitchen Asian food! they Told me 10 minutes for my pick up order to be done. Got there in 15 and I still had to wait. They up charged me 14$ without my knowledge and proceeded to give me faulty food that wasn't cooked good even though I paid more and waited longer. Great place for upscale Asian food in quaint little Frankfort! What an awesome addition to the town. Dinner here was excellent, great menu. The cocktails were delicious - the matcha coconut cream margarita was so yummy, beautiful, and creative. Sushi was fresh and on point. The star was the spicy miso ramen. Broth had depth, perfect spice, and so craveable. Loved the marinated perfectly jammy egg. Service was also stellar- friendly, good pace, and knowledgeable on the menu even on a very busy holiday. Crab rangoons were delicious. Quick service and nice place to eat downtown. I would not recommend the pad Thai or volcano shrimp. Pad Thai is in a mushy tangy peanut sauce, not like typical pad Thai. read more

We ate here in June on our anniversary trip, then returned in October with all the kids on a family trip. Everyone loved the ramen varieties, pho, and citrus chicken. If you're into packaged msg filled ramen, this may disappoint, but if you like the real stuff with 8hr+ cooked broth give it a try! read more

We waited by the door for a long time without even so much as a nod from anybody working, the two groups in front of us left and we thought maybe they were impatient so who knows how long they waited. It was not at all busy and there is no excuse when you're six feet from the bartender who is making a drink and talking to the 3 people at the bar. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. My husband's ramen was good but my Pad Thai was hugely disappointing. Overcooked to a mushy mess with way too much sauce. Not enough flavor, very few vegetables. Have to say the worst pad Thai I've ever had. One of the best things about Thai food is the fresh taste, well spiced. We've gone twice this summer and both times were great. Service staff was attentive and polite. Our guests had dishes that they thought were very good. We had the crispy chicken dish that I really enjoyed until the last bite when I ate a hot pepper! Maybe I'm not as particular as others before me, but all in all we enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere on the harbor facing screened veranda was enjoyable both times....Last time a little cool when the wind picked up, but was still the Michigan atmosphere we so enjoy! This was quite the disappointment.......the Szechuan chicken was overly sweet without any szechuan peppers or heat of any kind. Others in our group had the Pho, which was bland and flavorless. If they wanted any protein it would have been an extra $14 which one in our group did order-pork belly-which was an incredibly small serving added to her pho. In general, there were only 2 other small groups present and the staff was quite loud, joking around and seemingly more interested in enjoying themselves than providing service. It didn't start out well. we asked to be seated on the porch, which might have been a mistake as there were two very large groups of very loud people. We could not hear ourselves talking. we waited quite a while for a server. Once we finally had a server at our table, We were told we could not have hot tea because the restaurant only has four hot tea strainers And they were all being used. What? It's an Asian restaurant. The restaurant was slightly more than half full of diners. Once we were finally able to order our meal, we waited quite a long time to get our food. From the time we sat down till the time we got our food was an hour and 20 minutes. My broccoli and beef came without the Hunan sauce listed on the menu. My husband had the schezuan shrimp, which was quite good and our daughter had tonkatsu noodles which she said was good. The food was actually quite delicious once we had what we were supposed to have including sauce. But it was a very frustrating time, waiting for it to be right not to mention we saw the bus person flick a piece of noodle off a customer's bill onto the floor. It landed about 2 feet away from me. Not quite sure how I feel about going back there..... 3 stars because the food was good. zero stars for everything else. read more
