He has provided me with advice and services on the proper care and preservation of saguaros and other native plants. I'm immensely grateful to Adam Vickers, a.k.a The Cactus Dr, for he prevented unnecessary removal of Saguaros, arranged a move of a Saguaro, and has supplied and planted mature Ocotillo in my HOA. He regularly answers my questions/concerns on proper care of AZ iconic plants. I trust his knowledge. In 2018 Saguaros in our HOA began to collapse. I wanted to know how I might act to prevent the collapse as the drought years continued in AZ. I looked out my windows at a garden that has been a testament to Arizona's natural beauty for over 40 years. See photo. In 2018 The Catus Dr prevented the removal of a saguaro by the HOA maintenance crew: I asked for 24hrs to hire a professional to assess the plant. Adam Vickers arrived the next day. He advised how to determine if that saguaro was moving and explained the crack was common for saguaro. It was not oozing black fluid to suggest bacterial narcosis infection which can lead to death. He also recommended these established Saguaros, which had no irrigation, be watered every few weeks in AZ summer heat. He warned against overwatering. The guys from The Cactus Dr were right on time to the minute! They were friendly and professional. They did an excellent job of removing a 14 ft saguaro that broke in half. Once they were done removing the broken piece, they dug up the other half still in the ground and completely removed it. And then rearranged the rocks and filled the hole so you would never know anything had been there. They exceeded my expectations. And the price was right! Can I give 6 stars? We decided at about 6 pm on Thursday night that we were so concerned our 15 foot saguaro was too top heavy and we really needed to get it removed so it would not fall over in a monsoon and possibly damage our house or our cars. We emailed the company and Adam responded very quickly. We discussed if the cactus could be anchored, but after hearing Adam out, we conceded that staking it would be akin to rearranging the deck furniture on the Titanic. After explaining his process for removal, we set an appointment for the next Saturday morning. In a weird turn of events, the saguaro literally snapped in half at 2 am on Friday morning and I left for work at 6 am to find it in pieces in my yard. I texted Adam and sent pictures of the carnage and he not only kept the appointment, but kept the price even though this was going to be a lot more work and a lot more time. He was on time for our appointment and his crew was very careful with our yard and cleaned up very nicely. I just purchased a home in Fountain Hills that has (now had) a massive Saguaro on the property. It leaned, so I called The Cactus Doctor and they sent their cactus horticulturist for a diagnostic visit on March 6. I paid $180 and he said it was perfectly healthy and that the lean was normal for a native specimen. He said the only recommendations he would make would be to remove the non-native plantings since cactus do not like to be irrigated (the root system covers most of the lot) and to trim back the arm closest to the house so that it wouldn't hit the house in case it broke off. The saguaro fell over yesterday ... less than twenty days after this expert said it was a perfectly healthy specimen. I called this morning and the woman said the diagnostic is irrelevant since they can't see inside the cactus. Do not waste your money hiring this company ... they are advertising services that they aren't qualified or simply unable to give. They refused to give me a refund saying instead they would give me a discount for haul away services. This company is a joke read more

Very dissapointed. I called The cactus doctor after pur recent storm because the ground became so wet it started to come out the ground. I spoke with Angella who said they had one job in palms spring back on February 23 but would come after. She notified me once that my appointment would be delayed due to complication in palm spring. A few months ago I called these guys to come out and inspect my cactus. I paid them $500 to remove a few arms and give it a clean bill of health. This past week I lost it in a monsoon and the guys who I paid to remove it said it was balanced improperly and had a mild infection. We had them out because 25 foot cactus in our yard with several arms (we lost one recently) and it was leaning, dangerously. The propped, cut off an arm to balance. They dug around and examined roots. They also moved a drainage ditch slightly to keep water away from it. It looks awesome. So happy to save it. Very expensive but worth it. They aren't God, but do the best they can to diagnose what is wrong. You have to have a permit to cut a saguaro for those that don't know. read more
