I came here to get a gift card for my husband and can't wait to come back to buy some cacti! They have a nice selection and some really unique ones. They also have a poster showing what the flowers on different ones look like. The prices were reasonable and the workers were super friendly! I was greeted right when I walked in and asked if I needed help with anything. Later, another worker offered me a bottle of water since it was a pretty hot day. The workers seem to all be friends with each other as well and they were very knowledgeable. It's not right off the main road but they have a big sign out by the main road so you know where to turn and it's very easy to find. I definitely recommend coming here to get cacti for your yard. I was looking for a place to get small, outdoor cacti and succulents to put in pots. I usually go to the general nursery but then found this place on Google. So glad I did. They have a great selection of smaller cacti, and you know they will survive the desert because they aren't all being stored in a greenhouse. The guy who worked there was very friendly and helped me find what I needed. He later helped me put what I bought in a box he provided along with some paper to help keep it from falling all over the car. I appreciate the attention to detail. Only thing they don't have is a basket or something to load up your selections on till you check out, so you have to bring them to the counter one or two at a time. What a hidden gem. read more

Awesome place! Talked with a true collector who was very knowledgeable, picked up a nice globe cactus, and a crested Trichocereus Bridgesii grafted to myrtillocactus. Was a little concerned about the union (wasn't horrible, still a good graft, just not the strongest union) I Don't fault them for that, happens to Even the best horticulturists. When I expressed concern they recognized it, and gave me a fantastic discount. Ended up being an amazing deal, Graft is still pumping as it should, just had to be careful with it for a while. Looking to landscape your yard with plants that are unique and have more character than Lantana, Mexican Fan Palms, Oleander, or Bouganivillea? Then I recommend you visit this place. From the giant cacti like Pachycereus pringlei to the little clustering variety, Mammillaria guelzowiana, and of course there are those with blooms that seem impossible with their size and color. Trees, like Pachycormus discolor or Fouquieria columnaris, Aloes, Agaves, and various unique plants like Calibanus hookeri. If they dont have it I'm confident they'll tell you that they can get it. I just bought my first cactus ever!! Saw this place off of Google and knew I had to make a trip out before I went back home. I ended up buying a hybrid cactus that can bloom light pink flowers. They had a really good variety of plants and the employees are super nice. I really didn't know much about anything going in, I just wanted a cactus. What a cool place!! If you're looking to get some unique and hard to find desert plants and greenery for your indoor or outdoor spaces - this is the place to go! Also good for taking out of towner guests to find a cool desert souvenir to take home. While I've always loved desert greenery, I've recently become drop dead obsessed with houseplants and was looking for a place to get pumice. Pumice, unlike perlite, is kinda hard to find and isn't carried at big box stores so that led me to discover the gem that is Arizona Cactus Sales! Customer service was great! I was greeted warmly and got help finding exactly what I needed. I also overheard them give fantastic, knowledgeable advice and plant care instructions to other customers looking to pick up something nice and climate appropriate. If you're looking to get into desert plants I'd skip the big box stores and go here - you'll find something more interesting than usually offered at those places and get the correct plant care instructions and advice as well! Very best place to buy cactus!! Why plant like you don't live in the desert?

Best place to get succulents and cactus that iv. The variety is top notch. The employees know what the hell they're talking about. I live in Oklahoma City but we go stay at my girlfriends parents place out there about once a year. Always make a stop here and get as many succulents/cactus as I can fit into their convenient carry on box. They travel well but TSA might question you about the cardboard box full of plants. Just tell em to suck it. Noticed some sort of critter had been digging up and chewing up some of my succulents and it always seemed to be the same two. Both of which came from here. Called them and spoke to someone and told him about it and he asked if I had squirrels in the area. I said yes. He said they're getting high off the two succulents in question. I laughed and said are you kidding! He advised putting them in some sort of protected cage. I'm going to get chicken wire to fence in the shelf that they sit on so hopefully the damn squirrels quit getting high off my supply! They also ship plants to you which is awesome. On our way out of Chandler we needed to pick up a small gift for a friend who was watching our pets. Thanks to Yelp I was able to find Arizona Cactus Sales next to the freeway. This place had quite the selection of cacti small, medium, and large. It was fun to explore the grounds and I was astonished by the many varieties of cacti this place carried. All the cacti was well merchandised and symmetrical. Prices and descriptions were easy to find as well as easy to understand. After finding a suitable gift, we went to the cashier/owner to complete our purchase. He was friendly and accommodating to our needs considering we were transporting our purchase in the car for more than 6 hours. For $8 we were able to leave Arizona with a flowering cactus that made a great gift our friend really enjoyed. Arizona Cactus Sales may be run like a small time business but my experience there was not small time by any means. Definitely glad I was able to stop here on my way out of AZ. read more

When I arrived in AZ 6 years ago, I immediately went to the BigBox store and filled my cart up with cactus. Most of it died. As I started to become more knowledgeable, various experts pointed out that these plants are grown in CA which is why they protested my yard's unrelenting AZ sun. I am learning about cactus and appreciate a store's willingness to explain and/or tell me why a specific plant will not be a good fit. This was my first time at AZ Cactus Sales and I was impressed. The plants are grown locally and are arranged according to the level of sun exposure they can take. Many were unique and I thought the prices quite reasonable. It's hard to beat Southern California for cactus. Sometimes though you want something specific and local nurseries are out. I've been told to try ACS mail order for awhile, now I can see why. I wanted a specific nightblooming cactus I could not source with reliability. ACS had it I stock for a reasonable value. They play fair and put the price into the cactus, not hidden in shipping costs. They ship UPS and included a sanitary certificate. If you always buy without one that's ok. I look at the sanitary cert with their name on it, not so much to protect me, but it tells me they stand behind their product, and the regulatory agency that keeps tabs on these issues and safeguards. Great prices, box packed tight...nothing was moving in that box no matter what. The cacti themselves, ones I'd have picked, fat, green, great root system and a gift cacti too. Not one they could never sell, actually a very popular variety that anyone who collects the cactus I purchased has or needs. They come bare root as cacti should. They are potted and look great now. Great selecton of cacti, especially smaller sized ones that are not native to Arizona. They had some amazing stuff that is best for afternoon shade only, and wow did I find some colorful examples. They have the standard range of Saguaro, Ocotillo, Cholla and more... but their more rare & interesting stuff is hard to beat as far as selection goes. I thought their prices were very reasonable for the valley. Easy to find location on AZ avenue just south of the loop 202, and it's on the east side of the road. Limited parking though. As a native Arizonan, I have seen cactus all my life and never really given much thought to their unique and splendid appearance. It wasn't until a visit to The Gardens that I fully realized how many different agave there are and how many varieties of ocotillo are known and how many different colors a cactus can be. If you enjoy cactus, are looking for a unique gift or just want to add to your garden, this is the place to go! Arizona Cactus Sales is conveniently located just south of the 202 Santan Freway off ramp on Arizona Avenue, aka State Highway 87. There is not much visible frontage on Arizona Ave, but the property goes deep to the east and has a large variety of cactus from miniature to huge. All of the plants are grouped according to genus and sun requirements; Latin names are present for the botanist and common names for the rest of us. Prices are reasonable, especially considering that some plants take years to get to size. Further, there are plants here that are simply sold no where else and price can dictate this. However each time I visit, I have had a pleasant experience and left feeling good about my purchase and supporting a local business. The staff is knowledgeable, ask them a question and you can get as much information as you desire about every plant they sell. They will happily give you planting tips, watering advice, troubleshooting for those struggling succulents and gladly help you carry and load all your purchases into your vehicle. The best part about all the workers is that they are super friendly, they genuinely care about their job and all appear to enjoy what they do. Given that there are just a few places on earth in which cacti naturally grow and thrive in abundance, and this, the Sonoran Desert being the most diverse among them, it makes sense that there be a cactus nursery to sell to the public. Given the selection, service and price, Arizona Cactus Sales is perhaps the finest and best place to buy desert cacti and succulents I have ever found. Therefore, it as good as it gets when looking at, just browsing or wanting to buy cactus. It is worthy of a stop - it is like a smaller, condensed Botanical Gardens but without the price of admission and parking headaches. To be completely fair and transparent, I visited this company's website before planning a trip to the physical location, so let's be real here, a website IS your store. Your website and online shop is a store front, your products and prices are presented for interest and purchase, so it's representative of your business. If you didn't have an online shop with prices posted, and asked to come to the store, that would be different. To the point: Outrageous prices. Ridiculous marked up prices on cactus. They are charging 50-100% more than stores like home depot or lowe's are asking, and those aren't exactly cheap stores for cactus. There is a gentleman who left a review here about spending $50 on an agave at AZ cactus sales and then saw the same exact cactus at home depot for $25, he is telling the truth, you can indeed get the same exact pieces at home depot for half...that's a 50% markup for the same thing, and that's outrageous, you have to be competitive in this day in age, this isn't the 50's. Aside from that, browsing their selection online can show you the crazy prices being asked for even small specimens. Some examples: they are selling small 6 inch tall madagascar palms for $30, at home depot you can get a 12" or taller madagascar palm for $25...much bigger and healthier with a guarantee. They are selling small tiny 6 inch barrel cactus for $65 bucks a piece, I've seen ones double the size for $40. This place is charging way, way too much for what they are offering. The real kicker is that this is ARIZONA...we have the climate for cactus, they grow well and fast here in abundance, it's not like this company is off in some far off land selling precious gems and pearls and carefully selling them to the masses, we're talking about local cacti here...lower your prices and be competitive so people can actually afford decent cactus that aren't tiny little baby plants that don't even fill up a yard, that you couldn't even see without squinting. I can pretty much tell that this place does most of its business off of new Arizona transplants from the midwest or California that don't know anything about cactus and just want to fill up their new yards and just don't know any better and spend way too much. I don't appreciate that and I think it's unfair to charge people too much money for something they could get down the street for 50-100% less. I respect and appreciate farmers and growers for providing natural gems like cacti, but stop ripping people off, be fair and spread the love not the markups. read more
