Wouldn't order again. I love cajun and creole cuisine, if I could live in Louisiana, I would! However the crawfish Etouffee, the shrimp ams the catfish pirouge, I didn't care for at all!! I went to The Cajun Cafe Delta Crawfish in Jonesboro to celebrate my graduation lunch, and they made it extra special. The staff had the whole restaurant clap for me and another graduate who was there -- such a thoughtful and personal touch that really meant a lot. Now let's talk about the food -- absolutely amazing! I had the blackened catfish, which was seasoned perfectly and honestly the biggest piece of fish I've ever seen served at a restaurant. I also tried the gator bites (so tender and flavorful), the boudin nuggets (seasoned just right and not dry at all), and we shared the Delta Poppers with crawfish tails and some fried pickles -- both were outstanding! The atmosphere was very cozy, and they had a perfect-sized table for our group of six -- comfortable and welcoming from the moment we walked in. *Great service, delicious and fresh seafood, in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere.* I've been in and out of Jonesboro for the past year and a half and have had the Cajun Cafe on my bookmark list for quite a while now. This last visit I had unfortunately missed lunch and arrived in town about 4 PM and didn't want to stray too far from my hotel. It was the perfect time to cross the highway off Caraway road and check out the Cajun Cafe. I admit, the location in a run-down strip mall next to a gas station wasn't overly inviting and the heavily tinted windows on approach made me think about turning back. Once I entered, however, the environment was quite inviting and comfortable. The staff is friendly and brief when ordering and very responsive to any customer service issues (similar to what HD W mentioned). HOT & SPICY SHRIMP Dude, this is where it's at! My first visit I opened with the appetizer portion (see picture) and wished I'd gotten the dinner portion. Great flavor, heat, and bread to mop it up. My second visit I knew I'd be getting the dinner portion as soon as I walked in. GATOR BITES This was the only dish I wasn't happy with. I'm always interested in the fried gator + remoulade experience, but despite being labeled as tenderloin, the bites were tough and chewy. Everyone has their take on remoulade, although I was not a fan of theirs. I made the last minute decision to try the "add $1 sausage to any meal" which ended up being a hunk of smoked sausage or kielbasa you could by at any grocery. OYSTERS Considering my customer service issue with lipstick stains on two of my wine glasses and the lack of patronage walking through the door, I was a bit nervous about ordering raw oysters on a Thursday night. The waitress assured me they were fresh and she had eaten some the night before. I went with it (see picture) and they were great! MARKET Plus, if you like to cook and cajun is your style, check out their market in the attached room. As a midwesterner who loves spicy food, I was jealous you all have speciality shops like this at your disposal in Arkansas! SUMMARY The Cajun Cafe is focused on providing great food in a comfortable, casual atmosphere. Don't expect to walk in and find a phenomenal beer and wine list (wine = Sutter Home mini bottles) or fancy desserts. We tried this place for the first time tonight. It was me, my fiancé, my mom, and my daughter (but she can't quite review food yet haha) If this rating was based on customer service alone, it would get 5 stars! Service is excellent, with everyone there treating you like family. The staff was attentive, kind, and fun! Definitely a place to go if you want to feel at home. When it comes to the food, the food itself I'd probably only give 2 stars, unfortunately. This is Cajun food! In the south! I was a little disappointed by the seasonings here. Some of the food lacked flavor, and everything lacked heat. My fiancé and I ordered the special, which was shrimp four ways. The shrimp on the skewers were amazing! The seasoning was perfect, and they had just a little blackening on them, which we like. The fried shrimp was good as well, but the batter was a little on the softer side and I would've liked it a little bit crunchier. However the boiled shrimp was bland. Even the "spicy" ones. There was no heat at all, and the texture was a little on the mushy side (for me, my fiancé didn't mind the texture). The cocktail sauce was a saving grace though. As for the sides (potatoes and corn on the cob), they were boiled as well and there were no seasoning at all on them. The potatoes looked and tasted old. I'd definitely avoid them in the future. Corn is corn to me, just needed some butter and seasonings. My mom got jumbo fried shrimp with hush puppies, gator bites, fries, and cole slaw. She enjoyed everything except for the slaw. Gator bites are something I'd definitely recommend here. Her shrimp was crispier and she enjoyed it. Fries are just your everyday crinkle cut fries. Good, but nothing special. As for the cole slaw, it looked pretty old and the taste was definitely bitter and sour. It tasted as old as it looked, so would probably avoid that as well. As for the look and cleanliness of the restaurant, probably give it 4 stars on that. The place is a little dated and some of the seats in the booths needed repair, and the floor was a little sticky. But other than that everything looked nice and clean. I will probably go here in the future and try again, and maybe just try to avoid the things I didn't like last time. We have eaten at the Cajun Cafe many times over the past few years and always enjoy the food, service, and the owners, the Dukes. Very clean place with a nice sized menu to choose from. Our server was very helpful and quick to tell you menu favorites. We started off with Soft Flavorful Boudin and the Smokey Grilled Oysters. If you haven't tried either, YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST! We were full but ordered entrees anyway. The Catfish Porigue was enormous and very good. The Crawfish Ettoufee was creamy and spot on delicious too. Plenty of food to take home! read more

It's easy to overdo fried anything but these were good. Even the hush puppies were cooked perfectly and that's a key indicator to me if the store cares about its product and customers. They served ice cold Yeungling just like the instructions say and waaalll laaaa it's a great experience. Only concern is the parking. Check out this place. You'll be pleased. read more

The service and food were fantastic. I had the shrimp broil, bf had crab legs. Bf said so far in his 56 years, they were the best he's had in the AR/TN/KY area. The only thing I wish they'd change is putting cooking the corn and potatoes with the cajun seasoning or old bay seasoning, instead of just sprinkling it on top once its already cooked. Flavor. Serious flavor. A work colleague suggested the place for lunch, and neither of us was disappointed. We started with two orders of boudin for appetizers. This was the first clue that we were in the right place. Delicious! I had a bowl of their gumbo. It wasn't your heavy, gray gumbo you'll find in some Cajun places. Their gumbo was lighter but hearty and tasty with a good bit of rice. Sausage, chicken... just good. It came with a salad, but since the salad came out with the gumbo, I didn't touch it. We didn't have much of a wait to get seated or give our orders. Service was good and friendly. There was only one server in the place at the time, but there weren't too many people for her to handle, so she kept us going just fine. We will definitely add this place to our Lunch Bunch rotation of work lunch favorites. My only complaint... the restaurant T-shirts are $20 each. read more

It's a good thing I ate more than the gumbo - as I was not impressed. They should call it chicken, sausage and rice soup - no roux and no real Cajun flavor at all! My husband got the crawfish po-boy and was at first disappointed at the small size of the crawfish. However he was happy with the taste and the green beans he had as a side. Along with the cup of gumbo, I had the appetizer of hot shrimp - HOMERUN! Wow, very flavorful with very strong Cajun spices and heat. It comes with a small piece of French bread but they get you a second piece if you ask. We come through Jonesboro on the way South a couple of times a year and will definitely come back. Great cajun food! I stopped in late as I got to town late. Yelp loves this place and I can see why. There was one other couple when I go there and it looked like it they had just finished a boil for two. The gentleman said it was great as he waddled out. His words, not mine. I ordered the boiled shrimp meal. Had a pretty good salad. One word of warning, and it's printed by the door on the way in, don't be in a rush. They obviously make it all up after you order. The shrimp came in a broth of juices, a couple of potatoes, half a cob of corn, and some of the best bread I've had in awhile. The waitress was attentive without being clingy. I bring a book usually as I eat alone on these trips but there was no way I was touching my iPad during this meal. Shrimp stuff everywhere, but nothing the roll of paper towels couldn't handle. Not a ton of beers to select from, but the Corona fit perfectly. Give the Cajun Cafe a shot. It's in a tiny market string of stores and is attached to a market. Jonesboro has seriously been in need of cajun food and so I watched the construction of the restaurant with interest. It opened just a few days ago so I checked it out today. After my initial disappointment and shock over no red beans and rice, I went ahead and decided to check out the other staple I expect from a cajun place. Gumbo. The gumbo was fantastic. Just the right mix of ingredients and just a enough touch of heat to bring the kick you expect from cajun cuisine. The best part was you could taste each part of the gumbo...the sausage, the chicken, the okra. I was actually disappointed that the bowl was so small! I also picked up the bag of hot and spicy shrimp. That's right...the appetizer is spicy shrimp boiled in a bag with fantastic mixes of spices. It wasn't quite as hot as I would have liked it to be....but the flavor of that peel and eat shrimp was amazing. Bottom line: Get red beans and rice on the menu and this place is 5 stars. read more

I have been a fan of Delta Crawfish since the Paragould location opened 10 years ago. The fact that I can now get the same delicious food in Jonesboro and save a half hour of driving is great. The service was excellent. I kept it simple today with an order of boudin and a bowl of gumbo. The boudin was delicious, but the gumbo was a little thin. The flavors were there, it just needed a bit more body. I hope Jonesboro gets behind this business and keeps it going for many years to come. read more

quite literally the worst crawfish i've ever had. we sat down and another customer warned us to leave before we ordered. we disregarded and ordered our crawfish. the food came out in 3 minutes, probably because somebody had just sent it back. it was ice cold and disgusting. the crawfish hadn't been purged or boiled. maybe microwaved for 45 seconds. potatoes were raw. the only good thing was the corn because there's no way to mess up corn. charged us $77 for 2 people worth of crawfish. Yesterday i ordered Crawfish for one, got home and to my surprise there were more heads and claws than actual full crawfish. I am very displeased with my food. I maybe had 1.5lbs of full crawfish that I could actually eat. I tried calling all night long to get in touch with someone about my expierence and no one answered the phone or there was a busy tone EVERY time. Was in town for a week wanted to try something different. I love crab legs spent $34 on 2lbs of warm crabs not seasoned it came with 2 little potatoes one piece of 1/2 cob corn.
