This place has elegance, warmth, and deliciousness! I sat alone at the bar, but never felt lonely; Doc & Lindsay were gracious and friendly. I ordered the Crab Cakes (2) and they were crispy on the outside and perfectly shredded & soft on the inside (Louisiana style). Warm and flaky, this made a meal for me, but would be no cue to share on date night. The bar is clean, classy, and organized. Next time I'll bring an appetite & order a steak. We went to Abe's Place for dinner on Saturday night to celebrate our friend's birthday. It was our first visit but we can say it is a very welcome addition to Jonesboro's dining scene. It is located in Greensborough Village and opened December 2025. It's named for owner Dr. Robert Abraham, a retired Jonesboro neurosurgeon, and it feels like the kind of spot someone opens because they genuinely care about good food and a good night out, not just turning tables. Our table ordered several dishes, and there really wasn't a miss among them. The freshly baked rolls with cinnamon butter were the showstopper! Light and fluffy they were perfect and we definitely asked for more! The Stuffed Chicken was delicious. The chicken breast was thin, tender, and surprisingly juicy, not the dry, boring chicken you find at some restaurants. The boursin herb cheese inside gave it a rich, creamy bite, and the sun-dried tomatoes added just enough sweetness and tang to keep it interesting. The sautéed spinach rounded everything out, so every forkful had a nice mix of textures and flavors. It felt like a "fancy" dish but still very comforting. The Jambalaya, done "Abe's style," leaned into flavor more than heat. It had that slow-cooked, layered taste you want from jambalaya without being overly spicy or salty. It's the kind of dish you could easily finish without feeling weighed down, but it's still hearty and satisfying. The Tomahawk Pork Chop was beautiful visually and held up on taste. The Duroc pork was well-marbled and cooked just right, juicy and tender. The sweet potato purée, which we requested on the side, was smooth and slightly sweet, and the apple brandy demi-glace tied the whole plate together with a glossy, savory-sweet sauce that really made the pork shine. It's an indulgent entrée but it's done with care, not just size for the sake of size. The Glazed Teriyaki Salmon was a nice contrast to the richer dishes. The teriyaki glaze had a good balance of sweet and savory, and the mango pico de gallo on top added a bright, fresh pop that kept each bite from feeling heavy. The rice pilaf underneath did its job well, soaking up the extra sauce without stealing the spotlight. If you prefer something lighter but still flavorful, this is a solid choice. We also shared a family side of Asparagus. The spears were cooked crisp-tender, not mushy, and properly seasoned, although one seasoning we couldn't identify. It actually felt like a side someone paid attention to, not just a green thing tossed on the plate for color. The owner was making his rounds through the dining room, visiting with tables, and checking on quality. Overall, Abe's Place feels like a thoughtful, locally rooted restaurant where the details matter, from the story behind the name to the way each dish is put together. The other night I had dinner at Abe's Place, and I have to tell you--it may be the best restaurant I've found in rural America. Of all things, I ordered the lobster bisque along with shrimp and grits. And let me be clear--it wasn't just good, it was exceptional. In fact, it easily beats any shrimp and grits I've had in New Orleans, and that's saying something. I also had the opportunity to meet the owner, and to my surprise, he's a retired neurosurgeon. What he's created here is remarkable--not just incredible food, but an atmosphere and ambiance that truly set this place apart. In my opinion, it's the best dining experience in Jonesboro. Great new edition to the local food scene in NE Arkansas. I would describe it as a semi fine dining Cajun Steakhouse. A little bit of live Jazz on the wkends. Dimly lit dining area. Over the top excellent service from a young man by the name of Caesar who gave us some excellent suggestions on menu item & kept our drinks coming. Any questions we had, he was good to answer them.
