The owners of Ed's catfish are extremely rude to their customers they told one customer he had to leave because he had been there for 2 hours and he could no longer order the all you can eat crab legs seems a little much he paid for it I will never recommend this place to anyone I know and as far as the staff goes they might want to find employment elsewhere they deserve a better place to work I would hate to see how the owners treat their staff if they can be rude to their customers In front of the entire restaurant very poor people skills needs to be shut down no exceptions. read more

I have been away from Arkansas for several years. I always want good fried chicken , BBQ and catfish when I'm back to visit family. There used to be a lot of good catfish in the area but seems harder to find. I used to always like Ed's but had heard it wasn't as good as it used to be. I was so pleased we went. My wife and I visited here for the first time last Tuesday (Senior Tuesday) with no expectations, having read a few negative reviews. But let me share with you our experience as a new arrival to Jonesboro....we LOVED everything about our lunch here. Family style dining so find an empty seat and share a picnic style table with someone. We made a new friend who gave us the rundown on how things work here. He said, if this is your first time, go ahead and get a plate of food and I will tell the waitress what you want for drinks...so you won't have to wait. That was a really considerate offer. So we went and surveyed the buffet. Man, they had butterflied shrimp, catfish fillets, chicken wings and other delicious offerings. The sides were also plentiful. Fresh fried okra was wonderful and more varieties than the usual southern food offerings elsewhere. PLUS each dish was perfectly seasoned without being overly salty. Lots of desserts also but we were too full to try anything. This is going to be our new "Go to" place. Reasonably priced and friendly service. Ed's Catfish is doing things very very well. read more

I prefer the old food at the old location. The people were nice enough-there seemed to be too many servers for customers. Our waitress, a young oriental woman, was exceedingly nice & prompt. The food was just bland, the fish tasted burnt, & that's not how I remember it tasting a year or two ago at the old spot. So I had written the above (with two stars) when Ed's first moved to its new location (and forgot to post it). It's at least a year later and I've been eating less carbs and decided to forgo that for a meal. So we gave Ed's another chance and it was pretty good! Much more up to the "old spot" standards. They set out a little at a time, which I kind of prefer so it doesn't get dried out and taste like typical buffet fare. I'm not big on seafood, so I can't speak for all of that aspect, besides the catfish, which was fresh, soft, and really tasty. But I thoroughly enjoyed the sides - beans, cabbage, macaroni and tomatoes, etc. The desserts are small portioned, but they're so sweet, that's all the size that I would want. If you want more, just get two servings. Staff was pleasant, it was an overall much better second experience and I'm glad we gave it a go again! read more

They need to list hours for lunch buffet and dinner buffet hours. That they have menu you order only between the other hours. They turned alot of people away cause they came for buffet between lunch and 4:00. They were some made people. Sure is hurting their business. You now have to pay to get a to go cup to pour any remaining drink in. The 9 year old with me had almost a full glass of the drink she ordered when we first went in and when we asked for a cup so she could take it with us we were told we would have to pay for another drink. and the lady at the register was rude when I complained about it. It's been years since patronizing the place, possibly right after they opened at their new location. Wasn't very impressed with the buffet. They seemed to be almost out of everything. My main desire was to eat a lot of good catfish, but it didn't taste right so didn't eat very much. Everything else was just too greasy to enjoy. When leaving, the cashier told me how much was due. A fellow was sitting right beside where I was standing, and asked how I liked the food. I told him the catfish tasted more like tilapia than catfish. Man, this place is the best! We were giving presentations at Nettleton High School right up the road and needed a quick place to grab lunch so we stopped by here. Me, at 42, and my coworker at 25, were the youngest folks here. Haha! We were also the only people in military uniforms which got us waaay more attention than we were seeking. But let's talk about the food. Ed Catfish has been around for a really long time. They moved locations years ago and then they closed down for a few years. Now they are back and better than ever. I had approximately five pieces of catfish, shrimp, hush puppies, fires, coleslaw, cornbread, blah, blah, blah. I basically ate a little of everything and then had dessert. It was amazing. We still talk about Ed's. Every time we go to Nettleton we discuss whether we are up for eating ourselves into a stupor or not. Sometimes we just don't want that much food. I don't feel like going there unless I'm going to eat myself to death. If you like catfish. Or basically any kind of carb or fried thing, then you really need to eat Ed's. Every time we go the buffet is out of fish. When they do bring out fresh fish it is only enough for about 4 people. The fish is good and cooked the way I like it, but you cannot sit down and eat all your food at one time because of the lack of keeping the buffet stocked with everything at one time. The price is a little high also. I wish it was better because Jonesboro needs a good catfish restaurant. The other choice is too expensive and they over cook the fish. read more

We came here all the way from Memphis just for the All You Can Eat Crab Legs. It kinda felt like a bait and switch. We got there at 5:00 and the waitress acted like we were inconveniencing her by asking for them. The dread was obvious when she kept making excuses about the long wait for the crab legs as well as a longer wait for the melted butter. The buffet seemed pretty good but that's not why we drove all the way from Memphis. If the waitress had not been so freaked out from the beginning, we might have enjoyed our visit. We definitely didn't get all we could eat for $35 per person. We won't be back. I really wish restaurants would not advertise All You Can Eat Crab Legs if they can't handle it. read more

I don't mine paying the price for all you can eat but this has really got out of hand . I was in there Friday evening around 6:00 pm and every body was trying to get fish but with no luck . For a buffet, this was really good food. Good fish, great gumbo, and really good cabbage. We went on a Friday night when they were packed so all the food was continually fresh. It was good quality food and they constantly kept the buffet cleaned and freshened up. It was 40 degrees outside so the temp inside was fine. The service was pretty good as well. I've been to a few good seafood/cajun/catfish places before in other cities (Mobile and New Orleans included), and this one deserves to be on that list. It is not at the top of the list, but it is by far the best buffet of any type in Jonesboro. I truly hope they strive to keep the quality up. read more

I very seldom eat a buffet but ever so often I'll go to a buffet for catfish or Chinese. I ate at Ed,s on Highland Drive tonight, and would say it was pretty darn good. Everything was properly cooked and not over seasoned. I like catfish steaks and they were tasty and plentiful. The peel em shrimp were large, fresh, and easily peeled. Selection was very good, pulled pork, ribs, frog legs. I don't go real often or I would gain too much weight. I couldn't find anything to complain about. I'll go back in couple months. read more

From time to time I would come to a place with bad ratings to see what's up. I came in, you have to sit yourself by the way (which I liked). After that I realized the place is a buffet (even better). The food was quite fresh for sure and very delicious. I got fried shrimp, fried catfish and other items. Everything I tried was fresh and tasted good. The staff was normal-friendly which I mostly prefer. I don't like to be ignored but I don't like someone checking on me every 30 seconds (personal preference). I gave this place 5 stars because I really found nothing wrong with it. I like the country kind of feel and look of this place. Let me counter the negative reviews here with an honest one. Food is really good, Buffett has hot fish, shrimp, etc, always putting fresh food out. The crab legs are all you can eat, but they are cooked to order. The $34.95 is a little high for Jonesboro standards, but really, where else are you gonna get them ?? I regularly eat here. Always receive good service. The food is good and reasonably priced. I've seen the posts about it being hot back in the summer. Every time I was there in the summer it was quiet the opposite. It was on the colder side if anything. read more
