We visited here on spring break. It had a great atmosphere and delicious ice cream. We beat the rush around sundown but still had to wait in line. Once we got into the store, it was full of old time candy from my childhood. Even though there was a line, the server took his time and helped us find the perfect order. He offered suggestion to my wife as they out tighter the prefect milkshake. I ordered a single serving on a waffle cone. The serving was very generous. Not to be outdone, my son orders the double. It was a mountain of ice cream! The server was kind and engaging. He made us feel like we were his only customers. Again, the ice cream was delicious. And the atmosphere was fun. Outside seating was creative, sort of long line but you can't help that. The indoor was cool with a nice breeze. The names everywhere made it seem popular. The pez on the counter was cool. Lots of candies for sale. I got the orange pineapple one scoop waffle cone, it was very rich, creamy and smooth. And the waffle cone was very good. The original candy kitchen is back after the hurricanes, yay! We haven't been out to the beaches since before the October storms and decided to go for a ride and visit some local businesses. While it is a little different, because they did have to clean up, they still carry retro candy, fudge, ice cream and a bunch of wacky sodas and Asian candy. Y'all. The Candy Kitchen is a South Pinellas County treasure. I don't know when it originally came to be but it's OLD. And still worth a visit. Our kids were BLOWN away by the selection and my husband had a blast getting Jelly Beans. The staff were two very friendly young girls who joked with us about the things adults choose versus kids. The candy kitchen is one of those places that has just always been there for as long as you can remember. This place is a very small hole in the wall that, if you're driving and you blink, you'll miss it. There is very limited parking so be ready to look around if you can't find any in the lot! The interior of this place is really cool and themed with the copious amounts of old candy, that it'll make you forget you're in 2019. The prices for the candy here are ridiculously reasonable and they even offer bulk candy and candy by the pound. The ice cream is the best thing about this place though, I got the strawberry oreo ice cream and it was delicious! It was the perfect amount of creamy and for $4 the amount you get is insane! They have many different flavors such as butter pecan and coffee&doughnuts so be ready to have choices! It is a very small place with MAYBE 7-8 people being able to be inside at one time. I do not recommend this ice cream shop to anyone who cares about getting great customer service. There are long lines outside for ice cream that you can get at other places in Madeira Beach for more reasonable prices, and they have an extremely rude, young blond male employee. The owners need to have a blunt conversation with this blond teenage male staffer who insulted my daughter my calling her a scammer from behind the counter, after she merely asked to add a brownie to her sundae. The girl serving ice cream was very nice and told us how it would be less expensive to buy a brownie sundae. Then the blond male staffer started running his mouth, calling her a scammer and proceeded to the back room (still in earshot of all customers in this very small store), going on and on about how she was "trying to scam" them by adding more items to her sundae. Perhaps he is in the family line-up to be the next owner? I surely hope not because this employee's loud, obnoxious behavior is unacceptable for any type of business, especially a family owned business that promotes itself as family friendly--it is not! read more

My boyfriend's brother (who has a peanut allergy) asked for a piece of chocolate Oreo fudge, and when we had already left and took a bite, he quickly realized he had been given peanut butter Oreo fudge. There were definitely two different kinds in the case, and though it was an innocent mistake, it was disappointing. Regardless, the fudge wasn't too great overall. I ordered their big mouth ice cream sandwich, which is covered in chocolate, and my boyfriend had the frozen banana. They were okay, but the chocolate coating tasted cheap. It's too bad, because it comes off as a really cute place, but if we return to the area, we won't be returning. read more

This is a second location in the area. This location is a bit smaller, but has all the goodies you'll need while on vacation. I only stopped by here once since we were staying nearer to the other location, but we liked the first one so much we had to check this one out as well. So come try this place out and if you like it be sure to check out the other location just north as well. Both will be a great experience. They have great ice cream choices I got the the salt water taffy as well, but they have all kinds of candy from every decade going way back. I love this place. They have a lot of ice cream flavors to chose from. I ended up getting a rum raisin flavor milkshake, though I don't recommend that you do because I like raisins more than most.
